It’s a must if you’re into mountain biking, the trails are some of the most technical trails you’ll find. For hiking, running, or sightseeing this preserve is a gold mine. Lots of people use this preserve so the parking lot can get pretty full but it’s a big place you rarely feel crowded in. Remember, this is the desert. Bring water, good shoes and protection from the sun. If your biking be prepared, feel free to reach out for questions.

The desert museum is part zoo, geological museum, and botanical garden. It’s a great place to explore and walk around. It’s a large preserve that displays flora and fauna of the desert while also explaining the long history of the area. On the drive over you can go thru Gates pass which is a narrow road thru the Tucson Mountains with stunning views and hiking options.

Pima County has completed The Loop in Tucson metro with links to Marana, Oro Valley, and South Tucson. Pima County residents and visitors on foot, bikes, skates, and horses can enjoy the more than 100 miles of shared-use paths that have already been completed. If it doesn't have a motor, it's good to go on The Loop. (Zippy, Jim's handicap vehicle is ok to travel) March 17, 2018 marked the completion of the loop, now called The Chuck Huckelberry Loop, with celebrations at three locations, Kino Sports Complex, Brandi Fenton Park and Oro Valley Steam Pump Ranch. The Loop now totals 131 miles and connects the Rillito River Park, Santa Cruz River Park, and Pantano River Park with Julian Wash and the Harrison Greenway. The Loop connects to parks, trails, bus and bike routes, workplaces, schools, restaurants, hotels and motels, shopping areas, and sports and entertainment venues. Over 48 public works of art grace the pathways. Look for the "Arrow" painted on the pavement pointing the way. You can download a map with pictures and placements of the public art here. https://southernarizonaguide.com/bicycle-path-the-loop/ Printed Loop maps are also available at local bike shops; at Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation, 3500 W. River Road; and at the Communications Office, Administration Building, first floor, 130 W.

Food scene

Bisbee cafe is a great breakfast spot on Ina. They offer good food and have outdoor seating. They can get pretty busy for breakfast so if you are a late riser expect a wait.
