Beautiful river town, tons of restaurants and bars, very walkable. For centuries, the village has been a hub of activity. It was a rural port, and home to factories and mills that made shoes, silk, flour, cider, cars—even wings for torpedo bombers. Today, General Motors, Kraft Foods, and Hitachi still have offices in town and the buzzing commercial heart of Main Street and Broadway continue to draw restaurateurs and shop-owners. Excellent access to NYC, 35 minute express train to Grand Central Station.

Hook Mountain has rich history.. Local red sand stone, also known as quarry stone or freestone, was discovered at Hook Mountain in 1785. It was also known to Dutch settlers of the region as Verdrietige Hook, meaning "Tedious Point", which may have been a reference to how long the mountain remained in view while sailing past it along the Hudson River.
