Welcome to Lake Point, top of the Tooele (pronounced Too-Will-a) Valley RESTAURANTS & STORES Approximately six restaurants are in/near the truck stops just north of here on UT-36. About the same number exist in Stansbury Park, approximately 5 minutes south on UT-36. Soelberg’s, a full-service grocery store, is in Stansbury Park, about 5 minutes south on UT-36. 20+ restaurants, Walmart, movie theaters, etc., can be found in Tooele, 15+ minutes south on UT-36. A trail map and parking area lie at the western end of Pheasant Lane, one mile due north of here. The lake, which is two to seven times saltier than the ocean, is also a popular destination for bird watching as it is a major stop for millions of migratory birds. 15 minutes east on I-80. Now more than 150 years old, the mill was hailed as the most significant structural landmark between Salt Lake City and Reno, Nevada when it was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1972. 5 minutes south on UT-138. More info at www.bensonmill.org SALTAIR Originally built in 1893 in an anachronistic Indian style complete with domed ceiling and minarets reminiscent of a wooden Taj Mahal, the Saltair entertainment pavilion has been ruined time and again by a number of catastrophes and has been rebuilt each time in order to make the Great Salt Lake seem a little less bleak. Today the Saltair is a popular concert venue which, while lacking some of the architectural grandeur of its predecessors, has managed to avoid any annihilating fires. 10 minutes east on I-80.
