Sightseeing

This is one of the headwaters to the Sacramento River. A major watershed in Northern California. The park hosts a wonderful sitting area where visitors can fill their canteens directly from the spring and drink. In addition to the spring are wonderful nature walks and a play structure for kids. Many people are drawn to the headwaters seeking the mystical properties of the spring. Throughout the summer, often one may find people selling necklaces, bracelets, and paintings.

These are a must-see! They're a bit of a drive, about an hour one way but so gorgeous. They're in a state park, the entry I think is $10, a short walk from the car for a grand vista! Stop in Mccloud for lunch either on the way or back!

This area has more than just camping! You can eat at the Sis-Q-Grill for a nice meal in the forest, or set up for the day at the Resort's "pay beach" where they have a lifeguard on duty and a designated swim area for the patrons. In addition, they offer SUP rentals and have an inflatable play area where you can pay to use the trampolines, etc. I

Traveler advice

Getting around

Public transport is scarce, a car is mandatory.

A bicycle is a great way to see the town when paired with a car!
