It comprises five sections: Zoological, Botanical, Anthropological, Paleontological - Geological and Mineralogical. Great efforts are first made to create and then to enrich and classify the collections of the Museum. Today the Museum's collections include specimens from Greece and the Mediterranean. A large part of them comes from donations from the Museum's personal collections of researchers.

On the north side of the beach there is a large natural cave from the top of which some very adventurous dives. The beach is very well organized, with umbrellas, toilets, showers, lifeguards, first aid kits, beach volleyball courts, snack bars, water sports, kayaking excursions etc. Also the part of the beach in front of the Matala campsite is covered with salt. The evenings, bars and taverns of the beach are full of people, both local and foreign.
