What to see

The Acropolis of Athens, the so-called "sacred rock", is the most important archaeological site in Greece and is located on a hill in the center of today's Athens. There are three ancient temples in the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of Apollo Nike. There is also the monumental entrance, the Propylaea. All of the Acropolis monuments are made of Pentelic marble and were built during the Golden Age of Pericles, the so-called Classical Period (450-330 BC).
