Lustleigh, the prettiest village on the moor, don’t miss the tearoom or the walk by the cricket pitch with it’s chocolate box thatched houses. Chagford, a little further on, is also worth a visit.

Castle Drogo, the last castle built in England. Glorious NT pile designed by Edwin Lutyens, stunning views and walks down the Teign Valley. Great walk to Fingle Bridge where there is a pub reward!

Shaldon, lovely Victorian seaside village, The Clipper Cafe is good, sit upstairs or outside on the huge terrace overlooking the estuary and across to Teignmouth. Walk up to the The Ness and then back around the village green. Great monkeys in Shaldon’s tiny zoo!

Lots of boats to look at, plenty of shops. Alf Resco’s is our favourite cafe, opens really early, closes at 1.30pm, great atmosphere.

Lots of boats to look at, plenty of shops. Alf Resco’s is our favourite cafe, opens really early, closes at 1.30pm, great atmosphere.
Torcross, long stretch of beach with freshwater Ley on the inland side of the road. The Start Bay Inn is a great fish and chip pub and when they say jumbo they really mean it! The coastal drive from Dartmouth to Torcross is absolutely stunning

South Devon Railway, the trains go from Buckfastleigh to Totnes, glorious ride along the Dart Valley. Plenty of time to walk into Totnes and have tea at Grey’s Tearoom.
