Makes scrumptious fresh bread and croissants each morning which are just short walk away from The Kraken. Staff at Chiller's are VERY chilled and this cafe tends to operate on "island time", so be prepared to wait. Why not join them by soaking up the "slow down" vibes? The warm fresh bread and chocolate croissants are definitely worth any wait!

Serves fabulous fresh seafood, including sashimi grade tuna and salmon with a delightful range of Japanese accompaniments to create your own spectacular Japanese seafood feasts. Highly recommend rolling your sashimi tuna in black sesame seeds before thinly slicing. Enjoy with some wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger for an addictive healthy meal.

The best pizza outside of Italy! Laura the owner uses her Nonna's recipes and local produce for these amazing wood-fired pizzas. We recommend walking along the beach from The Kraken about half an hour before sunset, calling ahead on 0457 629 782 to order your pizzas (the prawn and chorizo and the smoked chicken are our favs!), so you can collect them in time to eat them fresh from the oven whilst watching the sun go down on Cylinder Beach. Why not take a bottle of bubbly to share?? Warning: wait times can be as long as 1 hour during summer, so consider ordering early!

The most spectacular walk and an absolute must for every Straddie visit! Commonly seen wildlife include whales, dolphins, rays, turtles, kangaroos, and koalas. Warning: this walk is so beautiful, you may be moved to tears! Also, be careful on the cliffs, people have fallen off and died. No selfie is worth that!

Get up early and wear a good set of walking shoes, and pack a picnic to enjoy by this serene and sacred Lake. Read up on the Quandamooka story about the lake before going, and please respect the sacredness of this place by not swimming in it. If you need extra motivation to stay out of the water - it does have eels living in it! It will make you want to take up painting or poetry, or just feel very at one with the Earth and the birds...

Great place for a BBQ picnic, a swim, or a walk around the lake on the walking track. The water is stained brown from the tea-trees around it.
