This is an absolutely free and mind-bending experience only the locals will know about. Sylacauga is one of two places of this kind in the country. GPS will take you to the spot, but there are no blazing markers to tell you that you've arrived. Once at the location, you will turn off the highway, turn your car around to face Hwy 280 at the stop sign. Place your car in neutral and take your foot off the brake. Your vehicle will inexplicably begin to roll backwards up hill. Be prepared to break because you will gain enough speed to top the hill and begin rolling down the other side. Make this memory to last a lifetime... It's on us!

This is a GREAT place to spend the day swimming, grilling, and watching the kids run around on the enormous play ground built for the young at heart as well. The Logan Martin Dam is across the way from this recreation area built and maintained by Alabama Power.

These folks have been here for a long time! The portions are still excellent for the price. Service is always friendly and the atmosphere festive. Grab a margarita and chow down on a chimichanga or plate of fajitas or fish tacos...oooh! You cannot go wrong at this local favorite!

Mama Rees is next door to our Journeyman's Gathering House. If your staying there, just take a stroll through the woodline to the left of the house, no need to pack the car. Home Cooking here is breakfast and lunch only and before 2pm, but if you get take out, the lady will make a plate from the buffet for you enough to have leftovers for dinner. Marie has had this place for 37 years and she's still there keeping operations going everyday, so tell her hello from Rusty and I!
