In summer swimming is fun in the natural volcano lake. Take a blow up water toy with you in case you need a break. The swimming distance is one kilometer back and forth. The water temperature is always pretty cold. Part of it is a fenced of pool with swim guard also for the children. But there will be fish around 😱😂. You can rent a locker at the pool to put your valuables into and a kiosk provides ice cream and drinks and food if you did not bring your own. Boat rental possible or bring your own. Hiking trails around it and to the other lakes nearby. Entrance until 19h. There’s lots of restaurants nearby.

Awesome in winter. Classic ice skates ⛸ or hockey skates can be rented or bring your own pair. Do not forget an extra pair of warm socks. On fridays they have a disco on ice set up with loud music. Otherwise it’s more quiet on the other days. There is possibilities to eat and snack small things if you forget to bring your supply. Opening hours are online visible. Normally the outdoor pool closes at 19/20h. The indoor pool is open until 22h together with the sauna. Sometimes there is special events and then it’s open longer.
That is a secret spot even for some locals...in the middle of a forrest next to the Kyll river. My favorite pool in summertime if there’s no lake...

Recommended if you like monasteries. Special place nearby the Eifelsteig (very nice hiking trail). There are sometimes Taizé prayers that are worth it to take part in with brother Stephan. You can fish in the monastery ponds for traut or other fish. They have a restaurant and a small religious store also open on Sunday’s. They also do the monks prayers and you can join them doing it. For special events in the monastery check their web page.

Kasematten, hop on hopp off bus, there is lots to see. It is the easiest to take bus number 401 to Luxemburg from the bridge in front of Echternach. There is a parc and ride parking lot right next to the bus stop. For the schedule use www.mobiliteit.lu. A day ticket is cheaper than using parking in Luxemburg and much more relaxing. Bus is often faster than the car. The theater offers sometimes plays in English and movies are often in English too. The Symphony has an interesting program including Yoga 🧘♀️
