Sightseeing

Prescott is home to four wonderful museums. Each one explores western culture and heritage from a unique perspective. Sharlot Hall is built around the first governor's mansion and has an extensive number of artifacts. The Smoki Museum at 147 N. AZ. St, is fascinating and documents early Native American history. The Phippen Art Museum at 4701 N. Hwy. 89, offers juried art of the west. And Fort Whipple Museum, in bldg 11 at the Veterans admin. complex features exhibits of Az. military history.

Parks & Nature

There are extensive and scenic hiking trails, picnic areas, a nice lake with canoe and kayak rentals. There are two other lakes, Goldwater Lake, which is also beautiful and Watson Lake which connects to Willow Lake. All of these are good for bird watching, for walks or jogs. There is also a small rehab. zoo at Willow Lake and it has locally injured wildlife. I would also recommend hiking up Thumb Butte mountain. It is not a difficult hike (bring water) but offers spectacular views.
