I have a real love for this 185 mile trail. I regularly bike it, often from end to end. It starts in Georgetown and winds its way along the Potomac River to Cumberland... but you probably will only want to hike a little piece of it this trip. Best access points are in Hancock and Williamsport.

I'm not normally a devotee of dollar stores, but this one is super new and is the closest thing to a good convenience store that isn't all the way back in Hedgesville. Good for canned stuff, super glue and a gallon of milk. I hope you don't need super glue though.

A grocery store in Frederick... an hour away? Yes. If you're heading from DC or Baltimore this is a halfway point stop to get food at the best grocery store chain on the planet. I'm biased, but Wegmans people roll that way.

Formerly the Food Lion... formerly Shop n Save... because grocery stores have weird names sometimes. This is the closest full-service grocery store. Pretty solid offerings - shockingly decent natural food offerings! Beer and wine are also sold here.
