Parks & Nature

I ride my road bike to this park, which is scenic, and has an elaborate network of paths. I typically ride 20 - 30 miles, which requires me to cover some of the same ground, but I never get bored of it.

It's beautiful, a top national attraction, and probably like nothing you've ever seen before! https://www.nationalparks.org/explore-parks/sleeping-bear-dunes-national-lakeshore

Movies & Art

I've seen many interesting, off the beaten track movies here. Less than a mile to walk there from the house. Here's what the UICA site has to say about the theater: The Theater at UICA shows independent, international, and documentary movies in downtown Grand Rapids Tuesday–Sunday year round. Audiences can see critical favorites, festival award winners, and special one-night screenings of classic films in UICA's 195-seat theater, with a state-of-the-art, Dolby®-certified movie viewing experience. For those with auditory needs, The Theater is equipped with a T-Coil audio induction loop. Admission: The Theater UICA Members: $5 Non-Members: $10 Movie tickets include same-day admission to The Galleries. All prices subject to change for special events. https://www.uica.org/movies

Food scene

This quaint grocery store is a few blocks from the house. There's a bakery, coffee shop, and Martha's pizza next door. They've got a large selection of wine, a deli w great offerings, sandwiches, cheese, fruit mixtures, and many others items worthy of visitors, and anyone else, for that matter!

Excellent Mexican food. I recommend calling ahead to place and pay for your order - 616-475-8000 - to avoid the inevitable line. Go directly to the pick up window to get your order.
