Tucked away in the East Boston Harbor Shipyard, this little gem of a restaurant offers authentic Australian meat pies & Aussie-Asian fusion in the most interesting, fun location. In the summer months, expect a few rounds of cornhole to be going on in the parking lot, along with groups of friends gathering to have beers & socialize around the newly added heated/enclosed picnic table patio, which tripled their seating capacity (indoor seating is very minimal). ALWAYS chill vibes flowing here, with the bonus walk down Marginal Street offering great sunset views of the harbor/city skyline/Bunker Hill Monument. Be sure to check their website for hours. http://www.kocateringandpies.com

Award-winning, authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of East Boston's Eagle Hill neighborhood. There isn't a single disappointing item on the menu, but their chilaquiles, their fresh-made guacamole & all of their house-made moles are not to be missed. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so waiting for a table is not uncommon. Definitely worth the wait.

Nestled in an unassuming residential neighborhood, this is another little not-to-be-missed Eastie gem. The service is usually a little rough & on the salty-Bostonian end of the spectrum, but the food makes up for the lack of friendly service. Almost everything is made from scratch here, Old World Italy style. The housemade lobster ravioli is incredible, the rabbit sausage (when available) is drool-worthy. Cash only. There's often a wait for a table. Be sure to check the website for hours. http://www.rinosplace.com/

They call it the Crown Jewel of East Boston for a reason. A waterfront park with incredible, panoramic views of Boston Harbor & the city skyline. Free live music, yoga & lots of other events happening here in the summer months.

Getting Around

Boston's subway system (called the T) is a fantastic easy way to avoid driving the city's confusing & often traffic-clogged streets. Parking in Boston also requires a neighborhood-specific permit. Do yourself a huge favor & just take the T.

Hubway is the zipcar of bikes, allowing members to rent from different locations across the entire city. East Boston now has at least two Hubway stations; it's a fantastic way to avoid traffic & get to know Boston from a different perspective. Just be sure to wear your helmet & always follow local traffic laws!
