it´s a kaleidoscope of exotic food, scents and people. Although the market has become quite touristy, I recommend taking a stroll through the stalls and breathing in market air. On Saturdays you can take a walk through the all day flea market behind the Naschmarkt (it looks like a battle field ;o) Don´t miss the grandiose architecture on your left and right side, especially Otto Wagners´flower and gold facades!

you have to visit a typical Viennese, traditional KAFFEEHAUS (coffee house) like Cafe Central, which is lokated in the beautiful Palais Ferstel. It is well known for its elegant atmosphere, where already Sigmund Freud and Leo Tolstoi drank their coffee.

It is the former summer residence of Sisi and one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. While a ticket for admission to the imperial apartments is costly, a stroll through the lavish park and gardens is free and worth a trip. A walk up to the Gloriette, which is located on a little hill, will reward you with a splendid view. If you are fond of animals, you might want to check out the worlds´oldest zoo.

The 21er Haus – Museum of Contemporary Art was built in 1958 by the Austrian architect Karl Schwanzer (1918-1975) as a pavilion or temporary showroom for the Universal Exhibition in Brussels. Schwanzer had won the Federal Government’s competition, in which he had prevailed over such competitors as Oswald Haerdtl, Otto Niedermoser, and Erich Boltenstern. Later, he wrote in his book Architektur aus Leidenschaft: "... maximal effects were to be achieved with minimal efforts.”
