Great skiing, but even better people and experience. Short lift lines, everyone is helpful, and the best ski school around.

Pick up a cheap sled at Wal Mart and head over to US Hill with the kids. It is free, has purpose-built bathrooms (not port-o-potties), and isn't very crowded. Just good old fashioned fun sledding. Directions: 1) head south through town 2) Turn left at NM Hwy 518 3) Drive 12.5 miles. US Hill just over the top of the small pass. It is on your left. There is a parking lot, a toilet and barbed wire fence with a small gate. It is public land and open for all activities. Enjoy.

A great alternative to TAOS Ski Valley. Smaller, but fun. More family-friendly and less expensive.
