Nice clubby dining room in one of the old hotels. Easy walk from house.. Take note of the beautiful architecture on 1700 block of S (particularly the one w bay window held up by a merman in middle of block. Stroll down New Hampshire Ave and take in the Elm trees which once shaded many avenues in DC but were lost to Dutch Elm disease. The gigantic home at the intersection of New Hampshire and 18th is worth a after dinner walk. One of the homes built by 'Robber Barons' in the 1900's family lost all their money in Depression and the house was eventually sold to the Order of the Eastern Star, the ladies auxiliary of the Masons. Now home to the 'Most Worthy Matron' the leader of the Order. Quite a title, eh?!
