Drinks & Nightlife

This is a restaurant, wine shop & live music venue. It is in a neighborhood called the Bywater. Might be the only place in New Orleans where they card at the door. All the action happens outside in the backyard. Avoid if raining. Otherwise, don’t avoid

Close by bar/music/connect four games out back. I was walking home on a Tuesday night, the door was open, maybe 15 people in the bar & on stage the finest bluegrass band this side of the universe. Everything spontaneous, broken & brilliant about New Orleans.

This place is super special. Close to the house. Have vegan bakery options. Sweet and savory. The best bread I’ve ever had. And I like bread. Only open 8:30 AM To 3:30 PM. A great place to hit up in the morning when you’re heading down into the French Quarter.

Restaurant at the bottom of, I believe, the Hilton hotel. Right off Canal Street. Best place to get happy hour oysters. Good to try to have a reservation, but often not need it

My favorite place to send people for brunch. They seat large groups quickly. And you can always get mimosas and bloody Mary’s at the bar upstairs. Breakfast is never a bad choice. Look at the specials on the wall. Try the ooey gooey cake
