Excellent "eat in" restaurant on the East Side adjoining the Mister Chips takeaway, where as well as the usual battered fish and chips, you can order your fish pan fried/grilled and with wonderful fresh vegetables including Samphire. There is also a fancy 'specials' menu and a short but good wine list. Highly recommended.

Unique little coffee shop, made from the old ticket office for the Pavilion Theatre, which prior to that was a wind shelter, overlooking the sea. Has recently expanded the outdoor seating area. Idyllic setting. nb no indoor seating, cash only.

Parks & Nature

Lovely park with a great view of the town. On a nice day, this is a wonderful place for a picnic, or just to while away an hour or so, with lots of 'hidden' areas to sit in. This is also where the museum is situated and has a great playground too.

Very nice walk from Whitby to Sandsend (approx 1 hour) along the beach at low tide. We enjoy doing this mid morning and having breakfast/lunch at the Sandside Cafe.
