Food scene
For fish lovers, this restaurant offers your best option for sashimi and sushi rolls on the island. Tom "san," head sushi chef and owner has been a long-time resident of Kodiak and has brought his love of food to the Emerald Isle.
This restaurant is located downtown, right on the channel leading into or out of the harbor, and offers a great view of boats headed out to sea and the occasional sea lion. Every now and then you might get extremely lucky and see a killer whale!
Local tip, if you plan on eating here come right when they open or you just might end up waiting quite a while for your food. This is one of Kodiak's more popular places.

Henry's serves a variety of food from burgers and fries to the catch of the day and is the closest thing on the island to a sports bar/restaurant. With multiple TVs, if there is a game on, it's playing! Don't forget to ask for their bottomless fries!

King's Diner has got to be one of Kodiak's oldest food establishments and the only place in town to grab breakfast. While I wouldn't personally recommend them it is a favorite for a lot of the old-time fishermen and a place where they often congregate. Looking for a hot tip on where the fish are? You might just find it here!

Java Flats, while a little bit of a drive away, is the best breakfast joint on the island! They offer a great breakfast burrito and gluten-free options. Currently, they are pick-up only and are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Make sure you call before you leave to verify that they are open.

Brewery
While I would not recommend their beer, this is definitely a cool space to come and hang out, spacious and group friendly. They've recently started offering some other drink options that, in my opinion, are better than the beer that they make.

For those of you who decide to drive out towards Pasagshak or Chiniak, the Olds River Inn provides food and drink a ways away from the town of Kodiak. Their brewed beer is said to be top-notch, although I have not personally tried it.

Fishing Charter
One of the oldest, if not the oldest charter fishing company in Kodiak, Captain Chris Fiala knows the surrounding Ocean and fish patterns like the back of his hand. With three different boats and Captains, Kodiak Island Charters offers an experience for all levels of fishing interest. For those primarily interested in targeting King Salmon, I would highly recommend going with Captain Chris. When it comes to pursuing Kings, he is relentless. For those that are perfectly happy with catching a wide variety, I would recommend going with Captain Carey or Captain David.
