Great Day Trip about 25-35 miles away depending on where you are going. In Corpus there is the Texas State Aquarium, The Lexington Aircraft Carrier Museum (VERY good if you like that sort of thing) and a Museum of Natural History. Much of the Lexington is air-conditioned. There is also a water park and minor league baseball in the spring and summer. Take the 10 mile drive down Ocean Drive on the bayfront for some of the most beautiful scenery in Texas of an almost unobstructed view of the bay and many parks to stop and walk. Of course, there is the mall and other regular shops to buy things. There is also a decent beach next to the Lexington. However, if you are a beach person, the one at Port Aransas is the best.
