Sightseeing
Take a day trip to check out Homer. There are 2 areas to walk here.
Downtown area - park at one of the stores on Pioneer avenue and walk around.
The 'Spit' - lots of parking is at the end of the spit. Walk around to the little collection of shops, get ice cream, and watch the ocean. The infamous Salty Dawg Saloon is down here, so be sure to get a locally loved sweatshirt and leave a dollar pinned on the saloon.
Me: I'd get food at Fat Olive's. They have great bruschetta but are often PACKED.
H: Get food at Latitude 59. The chicken cashew wrap is delicious. Also La Baleine Cafe.

Look up the "Kenai River Trail" on Skilak Lake Loop. This jaunt is only 5 minutes walking to the river (if you take the left). If you choose the long right side trail, it'll bring you along the cliffside of the river for awhile.

This park and field offers a huge playground and an amazing set of stairs that bring you along the riverside. The stairs were incorporated when I was younger to prevent erosion.

In the summer you’ll find them at Soldotna Creek Park on Wednesday, then at Soldotna Elementary and at the Kenai Museum on Saturday. Come hungry!
