Great southern comfort food. Also one of the more affordable options in downtown Blue Ridge.

Unique, music-inspired menu. High-end bar food would be the way I classify this place - burgers, sandwiches, wings. Also has a full bar.

Authentic Cuban food. Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, tamales - so good! They close early - and sometimes they sell out - so this is a great spot for lunch. Small indoor dining space, cute little outdoor patio, or easy to take to-go.

Very nice, upscale restaurant. Their menu changes often, but usually consists of pastas, steaks and chops. They encourage reservations. Also serve brunch.

Local brewery. They usually have a food truck on site as well. Good beer, games for all ages. One thing to keep in mind is they close pretty early, especially during the week.

Our favorite restaurant in McCaysville. Great burgers, sandwiches, and smoked chicken wings. Pretty good beer selection too. Not too expensive.

Sightseeing

Mercier's (pronounced Murr - seers) is a family farm, orchard, winery. They've got a very cool gift shop that also has fresh produce, a bakery, and local beer/wine. They do tours, wine tastings, and there is a little cafe on site. Also highly recommend watching sunset from their parking lot - even better if you've got a drone, great spot.

The largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River. Lots of hiking trails. If you turn right out of Sunny Brook that road (Old Hwy 2) eventually runs straight into the Cohuttas. We've not personally hiked here, but there are some awesome views just driving up there. It can be a bit bumpy, so beware if you're in a small car. The road runs a realllllly long way, so there's probably more to see/hike than we even got to.

Historic Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Neat train ride up to McCaysville, GA / Copper Hill, TN. Train stops in town for a couple of hours for shopping, eating, and exploring then makes its way back to Blue Ridge. During the winter this becomes the "Polar Express" and is holiday themed.

City/town information

State line of GA & TN. River runs through the middle of town. Good bit of dining and shopping here. We enjoy this town because it is less crowded than downtown Blue Ridge, a bit slower paced. Some things may be closed during slower times of the year, especially during the week. This is about the same distance from the cabin as downtown Blue Ridge, just in the opposite direction.

About 30 minutes south of our cabin, is Ellijay. Pretty neat little mountain town - similar to Blue Ridge. Good food, lots of shopping & antiquing. Definitely worth checking out if you've got the time.
