This is probably the nicest place to go the beach if you are able to drive up to Meads and don't mind walking down the hill.

Traveler advice

Don't miss

Try paddle boarding

This paddle boarding school / rental is run by my good friend Paul. Depending on availability he may be able to offer you a discount if you say I referred. Paul Gosling: 07941708503 https://www.facebook.com/pg/kitewithus/posts/ https://www.instagram.com/goose.kitesurfing.paddleboard/?hl=en-gb
Getting around

Where to go to the Beach

If you are going to the beach the best bet is to walk (10 min walk) or drive down the main road (A2021 Whitley Road). towards the redoubt car park. https://goo.gl/maps/Pnjx7BKYXwL3FrPw8 This location is not too busy, there are toilets nearby. If you want to avoid paying for parking there is plenty of nearby free parking on streets around here. The beach deck is an option for eating. I would recommend against walking straight through town for the beach as the area from the pier to bandstand is very busy and can be overcrowded.
Don't miss

Walking on the south downs

If you are in good fitness and want a rewarding (but steep!) walk up onto the south downs the place to start is the bottom of the hill in Meads. Search for Bedes school and this will take you to the right location. You are welcome to borrow any of the walking books in my flat - on the shelf beside the wooden birds.
