Sightseeing

Very pretty Village and well known as a location for the tv series All Creatures Great and Small. The Kings Arms Pub is highly recommended. Also home to ‘The Bakewell ‘ Cafe and Takeaway. They do sandwiches, cakes and a selection of homemade ready meals. Recommend 😀 Whitfield Gill is a favourite walk of ours from the village of Askrigg

Recommend to see red squirrels up close - they seem incredibly tame at Snaizeholme - more so than in our garden!

The highest single drop waterfall in Yorkshire. It was visited by William and Dorothy Wordsworth and painted by JWM Turner. The pub is ancient and has some fantastic old furniture- very atmospheric.

The famous Wensleydale cheese is made at the factory here. Visitors can watch cheeses being made for a small fee. There is also a tasting room where you can sample the many variety of cheeses ( a “free feed”) as a local farmer described it! There is also a restaurant, cafe and gift shop on site.
