Drive 10 miles from Cortez to Canyon of Ancients National Monument, where (even if Visitor Center is closed) you can walk on a wide, cement sidewalk to exceptional 360 degree views of McPhee Lake and mountain ranges in several directions and visit the Escslante Pueblo cultural site. If Visitor Center is open, get maps and tips to locate other cultural sights you can drive to and hike or bike to explore. Check website for days and hours of operation.
