Exercise yourself

Known traditionally as “El Pueblo del Chicharrón” or Pork Rind Town, the municipality of Bayamón has given its residents an opportunity to burn some calories within a beautiful and safe environment without having to stray far away from home. Inaugurated in the summer of 2003, the “Paseo Lineal Río Bayamón” offers a 9 kilometer stretch accessed from roads PR 177 and PR 22 at each end. It is made up of two tracks – one for joggers and one for cyclists – that follow the historic Río Bayamón, which once served as the main communication channel with the capital city of San Juan. Motor vehicles of all kinds are strictly prohibited in order to maintain a serene and secure path for visitors and residents alike. There are also areas for passive recreation and private activities along the way. The paseo lineal is not only a convenient space for recreational activities – it is a novel way to experience Bayamón in close proximity to nature.
