Great museum with lots of vehicles of all sorts that can be boarded, and plenty of running around space. Get the best foot and leg massage in town in the arcade for 20p ... honestly!

An hour’s drive away, Filey is an old fashioned beach resort with a lovely beach and the opportunity to walk out on The Brigg, a spit of rock that stretches out into the sea (check tide times as it’s only accessible at low tide)

23 miles away, this is a spectacular place to visit. Cars can be parked at the head of this 3.5 mile long spit of land that’s only 50 yards wide. With the North Sea on one side and the river Humber on the other, it’s a very exposed nature reserve with a variety of wildlife, depending on the time of year. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=spurn+point&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari

Food scene

There are so many restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk: Cognac, an authentic French restaurant on Chanterlands Avenue. Need to book in advance. Da Gianni on Princes Avenue; highly rated Italian restaurant. There are Moroccan, Indian, Persian, Greek restaurants as well as many bars also serving food on Princes Avenue. Newland Avenue also has a wide choice of places to eat including Larkin’s Bar, Sleepers and Craft and Dough (reduced prices on Tuesday and Thursday). Or if you just fancy Fish and Chips there’s The Friary - a 5 minute walk away. Bring them back, I’ve got plenty of salt and vinegar!

Great place for breakfast or lunch. There was live music when I visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Just a 10 minute walk from my place - authentic French restaurant. Great food and atmosphere, especially mid week when it’s less busy. Closed on Mondays
