Places to stay in Swanton
I have a cozy, quaint, country chic home that I take great pride in. It's a 7 minute walk to Lake Champlain, the new marina, Bayside Pavillion Restaurant and bar, a fishing pier as well as a local park with farmers markets and running paths. A 5 minute drive brings you to the heart of St. Albans town. Surrounded by another park, breweries, shops and restaurants. I live on a very quiet street. 40 minutes to Jay Peak and Smugglers Notch.
I am very accommodating and want my home to feel like yours. I have full screened in porch, grill, fire pit, garden and fenced in yard. I have a cozy living room with an electric fireplace that gives off a nice ambiance. I have a fully functioning kitchen that I am happy to share! I do live in my home with my two dogs Wesson & Tucker, a boxer mix and a lab that only bark when you come to the door!
I live in a very sweet, safe area down near the lake! I’m located on a quiet residential side street! When you are relaxing in my backyard or screened in porch, you will think you are in you’re own little private world!
  • Tamara is a wonderful host! She truly makes her home feel like yours while you are her guest. Her home is beautiful and the bedroom for Airbnb is very nice with a comfortable bed. She added many thoughtful touches to the space as well, such as snacks and toiletries. If I am ever in the area in the future I would absolutely stay here again!

  • Very homey and welcoming. Price was great. Great place for relaxation and solitude. Close to everything.

  • This place is the best place I'm gone since I use RB&B (few years)... The place is great, clean, comfortable and Tamara had so many way to make us at ease... Thanks a lot for every things... Tamara, Wesson and Tucker 💕

    Catherine2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I don't know where to begin with my praise for Tamara's outstanding hospitality, her attentiveness and eye for detail! Having been her first guest, I for sure was treated like a princess! In fact, the room is so cozy and just perfect for one person. I could even get some work done at the desk by the window (I just loooove the view!). The skylight added to the snugness, especially when it rained or hailed. There are even little snacks and toiletries provided for free. Everything was easy, practical and clean: sharing one bathroom, cooking in the oh-so-well-equipped kitchen or chilling in the spacious living room. A perfect place for dog lovers as Wesson and Tucker love to be around people and indeed want to be petted all day long! :)

  • The greatest place to be in St Albans very close to everything that you would love to see and do. Highly recommended

  • This was my second time in St. Albans. Driving all the way from New Jersey, I was so pleased and happy when I arrived to Lisa's home. It was so clean and cozy and offered me exactly what I needed after a long drive. I would check her guide book for food and other suggestions because that's where I found out about Twiggs Gastropub, where I had a great meal. I highly recommend Lisa's studio, and I would def come back again.

  • Lovely Airbnb right in town walking distance to everything! Perfect for a couple or single person. It was cozy and had cute little details to give the full VT experience (moose mugs, maple syrup in the fridge). Super clean and great set up. Definitely recommend and would stay again!

  • You need not look any further for a well priced apartment walking distance to "downtown Saint Albans" and Amtrak. There are a ton of well thought out amenities and it truly is a perfectly cozy place to stay. Will return again and again!

    Sarah2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, convenient to downtown and train station. Apartment was also very comfortable and clean.

    Brian2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location walking distance to downtown. Probably the best stocked kitchen I have seen in a air b&b! Hosts even had the place decorated nice for the Christmas holidays.... saw one post with a lady saying the entrance was hard because she was a senior, there is 2 exits and the emergency exit is the harder one, not the normal one. Thanks for our stay

Feel at home in this small-town quiet home, convenient to all the beauty and attractions of the Lake Champlain Islands, and just 5 minutes from the Canadian border crossing. Halfway between Montreal and Burlington, my home makes a wonderful stopover for cyclists.
My place is right in the quaint and friendly village of Alburgh, VT. It is an easy drive to Montreal, Burlington, or Plattsburgh. Located in the Lake Champlain Islands, it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and picturesque views. Best of all, my home is just a short walk to beautiful Lake Champlain! There is lake access at the end of my street, and a recreation trail up the road. Bring your kayak or bike and enjoy all this area has to offer!
5-minute walk to lake access (rocky, no beach) Easy drive to nearby cities (Montreal, Burlington, Plattsburgh), as well as Lake Champlain Islands attractions (vineyards, cideries, restaurants, beaches, hiking trails, arts, and entertainment) My home is on a residential street in a small town surrounded by a more rural area (farmland and lakeshore).
  • Perfect place to stay close to the border, quiet and friendly. The cat is lovely !

  • Mallory’s place is lovely with wonderful thoughtful touches. She also has two friendly dogs and one curious cat that were great to be around! Highly recommend!

  • It’s a wonderful home and a comfy experience. If you like dogs and cats this is a good place for you. If not Mallory does a good job keeping them out of sight. The cat however is a bit nosy but that just adds to the charm!

  • When I first realized that St. Albans was 30 minutes north of Burlington, I was worried we wouldn't have access to night life or cafes for breakfast during our long weekend. I was certainly wrong! St. Albans has two breweries, three cafes, and lots of restaurants to try. There's even a speak-easy if you can find it. Dave and Sue's home is located slightly out of town, but they are willing to be your designated driver if you need one for the evening. They aren't kidding when they say you should have an all wheel drive car to reach their home in winter though - my manual civic was able to make it up the first hill, but we had to park at the bottom of their driveway and walk the rest of the way up. If you are undeterred by a steep uphill walk, their view is definitely worth it - Lake Champlain and New York State are both visible, even on hazy days, and the stars are overwhelming on clear nights. When you do want to head into Burlington, they are located near I-89, so you'll be there in no time. I'm definitely looking forward to future visits in other seasons to see what else the area has to offer, and when I do visit the area, I hope I can stay with Dave and Sue again.

    Melissa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancee and I stayed at Dave & Sue's place for a wedding. Though we didn't have the opportunity to meet Sue, our interactions with Dave were very helpful and informative. Their space was very clean and nicely laid out. The view from their property is absolutely breathtaking (the pictures don't do it justice). I would highly recommend that anyone who needs a place to stay in the St. Albans area to check out Dave & Sue's place.

    Dylan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were very comfortable staying at Sue and Dave's place. They took the time to introduce us to the area and the lower level of their home, where we had a pleasant and very clean place to stay and rest. The views are spectacular. I would highly recommend this home and its owners to friends looking for a place to stay in northern Vt.

    Mary2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Dave & Sue are amazing hosts only matched by the views they will show you once you arrive. They are extremely warm and welcoming people. Their home is sparkling clean with very comfortable mattresses, a private level of their home for the guests, and a playful little puppy that will always entertain. They offered us beverages, fresh picked Vermont apples or rides into town. They are "all-star superhosts."

    Joseph2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Dave are very nice, friendly, and hospitality. Sue waited outside to welcome us. And she recommended nearby attractions and restaurants. The most wonderful is their house is an incredible scenic view point, especially at sunset. The park nearby is a wonderful site to view Lake Champlain. The rooms are very cozy and the beds are comfortable. We also have a private living room and bedroom to use. We highly recommend their house for a great vacation stay. It could not be better.

    志萍2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Dave & Sue's place was a true gem. The view from the home is beautiful. The space is roomy, quiet, private and comfortable. Sue and Dave gave great directions and recommendations for our short time in St Albans. Thanks so much!

    Cait2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Dave and Sue are excellent hosts! We shared some great conversations and they were extremely accommodating. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and the views from the deck were absolutely amazing.

  • Super cozy and comfortable, amazing view!! Open floor plan and tons of space, I can only imagine how perfect it would be for a summer getaway. However it was great off season as well!

  • Great cottage and view!

  • This is our second time staying at Poulin Shores. We all always have the best time. Chris is an amazing host and responds to any questions so quickly. The cabin is located on a quite street and the lake views are breath taking. Thanks so much for letting us share your little slice of heaven.

    Jonathan2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a great place to stay in a perfect location make sure you give this place a shot. Chris is a great host and was very helpful with things to do around the area. The cottage is clean and very spacious and was a lot bigger than we expected, The bed we slept on was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked for all you need to prepare a meal. We also loved the firepit by the water which was a great end to our day, Grocery shopping was also only a ten minute drive to town. This was our first trip to Vermont for fall foliage which was spectacular anywhere we went. We visited Stowe, Burlington, Winooski, Montpelier, Waterbury, St. Albans, Swanton, Malletts Bay, Colchester and Cambridge to name a few. We also took a Gondola ride to the top of Mt. Mansfield which was breathtaking to see all of color of the trees and is a must do if coming to Vermont to see fall foliage. Thank you to Chris for providing us with a perfect first trip to Vermont!!

    Vincent2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • You simply won’t find a more peaceful place to stay! Such an amazing value, so much space and bigger than photos capture. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, and the scenery cannot be beat. In fact, we went on a “scenic” train ride tour in Burlington and said to ourselves “we should have stayed at the cabin, we have better scenery there!”. We ate all our meals by the water, had coffee in the screened in porch every morning, woke up in the front bedroom to sunrise over the lake, and had cozy fires at night. If you’re looking for somewhere fancy this isn’t the place, but if you’re looking for somewhere simple, clean, and relaxing don’t miss the chance to stay here!

    Jenna2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was in good working condition and you need nothing . House description and amenities are all very accurate!. Wonderful place right on the water. I couldn't have ask for anything better! Chris was very responsive! Thank you again

    Michael2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Chris's cabin! It is clean and spacious with lots of thoughtful storage (hooks, baskets, dressers, etc.) and decorative touches. Our daughter loved climbing on the rocks on the side of the beach and we loved eating dinner on the deck. The screened porch was great in the evening when we wanted to avoid mosquitoes and the large backyard was great for our four-year-old. With a washer and dryer, a well-stocked kitchen, and some recreational items (board games, canoe, etc.), we had everything we needed for a relaxing week at the lake. Great location, too, with superb views of the sunset.

**Apr 1-30, 2020: Essential Workers Only** Lakefront cottage located in Highgate Springs, Vermont, on the Canadian border. The 2-bedroom cottage sits adjacent to the owner-occupied main house, on a large one-acre lot, with 120 feet of Lake Champlain shoreline. Enjoy the stunning sunset views while sitting on the deck overlooking the water. Private dock and boat-lift included. Montreal and Burlington each 45 minutes away. Available level-2 car charger. Well-behaved pets allowed. Fast WIFI!
Swim, fish, boat, ski, bike (the Missisquoi Rail-Trail is very close, with the Burlington Bikeway just to the south). An hour drive to Jay's Peak resort. Excellent restaurants in the nearby town of St. Albans, or dine in world-class restaurants in Burlington or Montreal. Note: During August and into September, as in many fresh-water lakes, algae may be present. Dogs should be kept in the fenced-in yard, as algae is harmful to them. Swimming at Alburg Dunes State Park, where the lake is much deeper, would be a good option during the late summer season.
Here are my personal recommendations: airbnb.com/rooms/23560755/guidebook
  • This air bnb is a gem! We stayed last year around the same time (early March) for close proximity to ice fishing on Lake Champlain and loved it so much that we came back again. Direct access to the lake, wood stove, all the amenities you could possibly need for a very affordable price.

    Aubrey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place just by the river. Location is also easy to reach and it’s well maintained

  • This place was a great stop on the way home from a ski trip. After skiing all day, we came in to a warm and cozy house. Beds were super comfortable and the fireplace was amazing. In the morning we woke up to a view of trucks on the ice...pretty cool. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

There were lots of little touches that made our stay very comfortable! We felt right at home and so look forward to another stay in the warmer months! Right on the water and so close to the border!

Small cottage open spring, summer, and fall seasons. Located on Lake Champlain with direct access to the water. Quiet and perfect for a couple's getaway (including with infant or older child). Golf 5km away. Known area for cycling and some wonderful nature paths for walking. Within an hour's drive from Montreal, Burlington and Plattsburgh. On Canadian side of the Lake, but 10 min drive to US border.
A small chalet with a mezzanine. Bathroom and bedroom upstairs. Truly ideal for a couple, but if you are a family, due to our layout, we recommend staying either with a YOUNG BABY (not walking or crawling) or an OLDER CHILD. The bedroom has 2 single beds - when placed side by side (which is how we prepare the bed for guests) they equal a king size bed - but they can be pulled apart, if need be. There is a couch on the main floor looking out over the lake. There is a forest to one side of the house and 2 quiet neighbours to the other side. There are 2 outdoor BBQs. One is a charcoal BBQ and the other is designed as a wood-burning BBQ which can equally be used as a small fire pit. LAKE DISCLAIMER: the lake is a natural body of water and there is seaweed in this lake. Generally speaking, the seaweed is lesser earlier in the season (June-July), but it truly changes from year to year, depending on the Spring we've had, sunshine and water level. Interpreting how seaweed in the lake (either a lot or hardly any, by lake standards) may affect our guest's ability to swim is completely subjective and we cannot determine with any certainty how our guests will feel. We do our best to answer all questions, including those about seaweed levels at a particular time. We get the water tested a couple of times per season (we have a young baby and dog who access the lake regularly) to ensure its quality. This being said, as with ALL natural bodies of water, caution should be taken for people (mostly very young babies or elderly) or pets who have low immunity.
Closest town is Venise en Quebec where you can find a grocery store, a fruit and vegetable stand, gas station, restaurants etc. Located about an hour drive from Montreal and 10 min from the US border. One hour drive to Burlington, 45 min drive to Plattsburgh. Perfect area for cycling. Beautiful nature trails for walking. Golf 5km down the road with extremely reasonable green fees, Golf Baie Missisquoi. Kayaks available for rent at Camping Champlain in Venise en Quebec.
  • A peaceful stay with picturesque views of the bay. Alexandra makes sure you’re taken care of and provides a comforting place to escape to, away from the hustle and bustle of life.

  • We had such a nice time relaxing, kayaking, fishing, and seeing the scenery of the area. We even went to Montreal for a day since it was so close. Ida, my wife loves to do yoga and she really loved doing her yoga on the deck with the sun shining and the view of the lake in the background. The view in the morning or the sun rising on the day over the lake is beautiful. I loved the bed, it was so comfortable and I didn't want to get up. My wife told me when we pulled in the drive the first day "what a nice find", she is right. We really had a nice time relaxing in a quiet cottage with access to the lake. Thank you Alexandra

    Francis2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet and bucolic place arranged with care and taste, facing the sunrise and the moon. Easy access and very isolated, we hear more about the lake than the road just minutes from beautiful Venice in Quebec.

Our second unit is centrally located 1/2 mi. From downtown. All modern amenities and off street parking are included in this spacious, restful space. The kitchen is fully equipped for short or long term stays and we welcome well behaved pets. You'll be expected to keep dog on leash while outside and to scoop the poop. Most of the year there is a large, accessible yard and gardens. Very enjoyable space.
Our space has a private entrance, off street parking, great a/c and is quiet and peaceful!
  • Connie's place was just lovely! We went in the middle of February - a cold month for sure. However, the cold was not a problem as the house was super warm :) Upon arriving, Connie had left us a platter of grapes, cheese and crackers which I have to say was a very sweet touch and came in handy as we had be on the road all day. Wifi was provided and there is a laundry room on the ground floor which was super convenient. There is a parking lot available and plenty of food places nearby, not to mention Connie's place came with a bunch of pamphlets filled with suggestions for restaurants and other amenities. All in all, we had a great stay and are actually thinking of returning for the summer!

  • Connie’s place was fantastic! I just moved from Ohio and needed a temporary place to stay until I found an apartment. I couldn’t have asked for a better place. Connie is amazing, and was there anytime I needed to reach out. I stayed a little over a month and if it was closer to work I would’ve stayed longer. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone!

  • This listing is as quaint as is described. Connie adds the extra touches with a nice snack and hand cut flowers. Will come back again.

    Connie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Connie was a terrific host! She welcomed us with an array of treats, which was well appreciated after a long ride! Connie reaches out to us to see if we needed anything, and invited us to enjoy tomatoes and flowers from her garden! I would love to stay again in the future!

  • What a quaint and lovely studio! The view and sounds of lake champlain are wonderful. The studio had everything we needed and the rental service was very responsive and on top everything to ensure we had a great stay. It suited our needs perfectly and would recommend for a late September stay. We got to see the beginning of foliage change too! I’d highly recommend this space to anyone looking into this area :)

Perfect for relaxing, reading a good book, fishing, water sports, golfing, and also to use as a home base for fun day trips. Dogs are welcome, but require Owner approval and payment of a $75 per dog per trip fee, maximum of 2 dogs.

Looking for a big place to enjoy with your friends and family? Our place has 2,000 sf, four bedrooms, 1.5 baths... and is on Lake Champlain... Beds for 10 people but plenty of space for more...
Great, large rustic cabin (all but boat/sun room built in 1910) includes fieldstone fireplace, large sun room on the water, plenty of land for privacy, great fishing and sunsets. For Summer the rental also includes the use of watercraft - rowboat, canoe, three kayaks, paddle board, boogie boards... more rocky than sandy so we also have an assortment of water shoes for those who would prefer to use them. Heated with hot air propane furnace (or fieldstone fireplace :0)). Great place to relax, have fun or both! First floor is all on one level making it easy access for those who have trouble walking (but fairly narrow doorways make moving in a wheelchair challenging). Not even one step up to enter. Waterline would require stairs down or a ginger walk down the boat ramp. Upstairs is a converted attic with drop down stairs and has two bedrooms (no doors on rooms) with new flooring and a total of three beds per room. Queen and double bedrooms are on first floor. While it is a rustic cabin (not a sparkling fancy condo by any means) with some uneven floors and other imperfections, it's a great place that has been remodeled a good bit with new windows, new flooring in some rooms, some new ceilings, updated furniture, updated bathroom, paint, new roof, etc. And being an older place near water a bug or two is possible so if you’re very anti bug this may not be the place for you. Water inside the cabin is from a well not the lake. We do have a gas grill and available charcoal grill for your use. Fire pits/seating area and older concrete patio outside but no deck. On a dirt road wide enough for one car with cow/horse pasture across the street. To answer a common question... Water levels and swimmability (is that a word?) vary. May and June the water is normally high (no beach). Great for putting in smaller boats via the ramp (ramp is too steep for largers boats but convenient launch just down the bay) - nice but cold water. Late June the water starts to warm up and swimming is great. July is normally ideal - usually still not much of a beach but warmer water. Beginning of August is also normally good but towards the end of August water levels will drop making it more difficult to put a boat in using the ramp (marina with access down the street) exposing a rocky beach, and by the end of August and into September weeds are usally present which would require putting on life jackets and going into deeper water to avoid them. If you want to bring your dog that should be fine but a heads up and prior behavioral approval required. No more than two dogs per stay and no pets allowed on the furniture. About 30 minutes to Burlington, 90 minutes from Montreal, close to lots of Vermont parks (including Burton Island just a row or paddle away) as well as 15 minutes from St Albans shopping. Assuming you've made it through all this verbiage, extended stay discounts and adjustments to check in dates/times possible; feel free to inquire. And rate shown is for Summer. If you're looking for Spring or Fall rates please inquire.
Why would you love staying here? The lake... the view... the sunsets! For a place on popular Lake Champlain it's also very quiet. Across the street is a cow pasture for a nice view while drinking morning coffee....
  • Sean is very friendly and he communicates quickly! The view of the lake is wonderful

    Karine2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a wonderful stay here. The weather was a bit cold most of the our stay so we were very grateful for the indoor fireplace to sip tea next to. The view was my favorite part, the sunsets were incredible. This was a perfect place to have a wholesome weekend with friends.

    Maya2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sean and Maria's place. The view is incredible and it is very quiet and peaceful. There was plenty of cookware, clean sheets, and more than enough towels. A great value to get away in the mountains for a while. Sean was a great communicator through the entire air bnb process and is a highly recommended host. Thanks again!

    Ryan2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had such a great time! Thank you to Sean It is a get away not far from home, but allows you to relax and recharge your batteries. I highly recommend it!

    Dinara2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect the house to be as advertised. It's a great place to stay for an extended weekend (or even a week). There are plenty of water-related amenities including a canoe and a couple of kayaks. The weather changes pretty quickly and aggressively so you should be prepared for that. Two fire pits — one closer to the house and one closer to the lakeshore. The lake is pretty rocky so take advantage of the swim footwear that Sean makes available. Also, be careful on the stairs leading up the attic. They're getting up there in years so they can be a little rickety. The neighboring sunflower field and grazing cows were a nice surprise, as were the friendly human neighbors. It's a quiet little road but everyone keeps to themselves for the most part. Overall, my nine friends and I stayed there comfortably and enjoyed every second of our stay. We all would greatly consider returning.

    Dan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect lakeside retreat! My family and I had a wonderful time during our vacation in August. The views from the cabin are beautiful! We enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, playing games in the sunroom and hanging out by the fire. The sunsets were amazing! Sean was very responsive and had great suggestions for things to do locally. Overall great stay!

    Sandra2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very enjoyable stay! Great place to spend with friends and family. The place is right on the lake which gives you a very nice view to wake up to. We really enjoyed the playroom which has a pingpong table and some boardgames which is pretty cool. And the condiments and kitchen equipments are pretty complete. I would recommend the place. :)

  • This cabin is rustic and peaceful. It's across the road from the lake with some seating on the porch so you can look out and watch the sunset. The loft bedroom was lovely with ample room to walk around the bed on all sides--more room than in the photo. The plumbing is lake water, so you do need to bring your own potable water. It's a perfect location for birdwatching. Super quiet, yet close enough to Swanton to stop in for groceries or a restaurant. From here, you have easy access to the Lake Champlain Islands. We even took an evening jaunt into Quebec for dinner on night.

  • This was our second time staying at Courtney's AirBnB apartment, and it was just as fantastic as the first. We are so pleased with the space and our experience that we have started to view this unit as our home-away-from-home. We bring our 2 dogs with us when we travel and Courtney makes us feel so welcome. We highly recommend this unit and also Courtney as a wonderful host. Cheers!

    Jillian2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • There's a reason Courtney is a superhost; her apartment had everything and did not disappoint. This was a perfect place for my fiance and I to stay for a weekend getaway from the city. Courtney's place is a short walk from a nice quaint downtown area where we visited great restaurants and a town farmers market to an awesome brewery in just the other direction. We thought we would visit Burlington more but found exploring St. Albans to be just what we needed.

    Frank2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I needed a place to stay over the weekend to visit family in Vermont. We needed something pet friendly and when we searched Air BnB, Courtney's host reviews were fantastic so we decided to book her unit. The apartment was wonderful, and well stocked with everything that we might need. Her instructions for the space were clear and easy to abide by. We met her during the course of our stay and she recommended a couple of places to eat and get coffee in St. Albans and both turned out to be great suggestions! We are so happy that we stayed there and we will definitely be booking this space again. Thanks Courtney! :)

    Jillian2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Love Courtney’s place! My pups love this place and it is in a perfect location. Love this place!

    Michele2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • We just moved to St. Albans from NM earlier this year and had the good fortune of being able to stay at Courtney's place while we made our transitions here. Courtney was always very kind and accommodating and provided some valuable tips to help us get to know the area. We always felt like we were coming home during our stay, our little dog was welcomed and enjoyed her time here as well. The property is very well located within walking distance of downtown, I enjoyed taking my dog for walks around the neighborhood and taking in my new hometown. The unit was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed during our nearly three month stay. If you're coming to St. Albans, book with this place! I'm so glad I did.

The house, with its' beautiful garden, is within walking distance to charming downtown St. Albans where you can browse an eclectic mix of shops, sip coffee at a cafe or enjoy alfresco dining, and live music, at one of several restaurants. Rain forecast ? Catch a movie at The Welden theater. Bicyclers will enjoy riding the 26ml rail trail and boaters and kayakers can spend all day on beautiful Lake Champlain, a 5min drive. Come and enjoy the area you won't be disappointed.
Although the house is situated in a residential area, it offers great privacy and has a secluded back garden. Sit on the swing and watch the sunset while listening to the gurgle of the ponds and little waterfall. Take a glass of wine or cup of coffee and stroll the garden, or visit the stream at the bottom of the garden. On cool evenings light up the patio heater or sit by the gas fire pit in the back yard.
The house is situated in a residential neighborhood in the city of Saint Albans Vt, which has recently undergone an extensive downtown renovation.
  • Sheila and Bob’s home is a tranquil paradise in the small historic town of St. Albans, VT. This property is a great place to get away and relax. The house is very comfortable and the gardens are spectacular! You don’t need to leave the property to experience the beauty of summer in Vermont. Bob and Sheila are great hosts and my wife and I are already planning our trip back here for next summer! Thanks Sheila and Bob for your hospitality!

  • This property has a gorgeous yard that is loved and well cared for. Numerous water features very relaxing. Friendly, good restaurants. I highly recommend this rental.

    Jo2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • You won’t believe Sheila’s garden. It’s an inspiration and it is, most definitely, an “oasis” that the title of the property promises. We are second timers, and found, once again, Bob and Sheila amazing hosts. We just love Saint Albans. The photos of everything are terrific, so you can have a good idea of the space and all that it promises. (Except to say that no photos do the garden justice!) Bob is a spectacular communicator. Check in is excellent. The property is spic-n-span. We loved being “plug and play” the second time around. Maybe it suffices to say we would be happy-so happy—to return to Bob and Sheila’s. They make airbnbing worth it! THANK YOU!

    Ellen2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, welcoming, clean & greatly decorated place, loved it & would definitely stay there again! Thx, Sheila & Bob, great host!

  • What an amazing place! Beautiful backyard, seems like your in your own world here. Then you walk out and your walking distance to a great little downtown area, or a quick car ride to Burlington. Such a large house, got a lot more out of the house then I was expecting. Thank you for the amazing place, we will be back.

    Christopher2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This house was warm and cozy, was filled with everything you could need, and had charming personal touches throughout so you almost feel like you know the hosts. The garden was gorgeous in person and the house is perfect for a couple. The bed was really soft and the water pressure in the shower was great. I went in summer and the air conditioning units worked very well, WiFi also worked well. There are 3 deer heads on the wall on the second floor which we named Moe, Larry, & Curly. The house has a lot of character and neighborhood was nice; it's only half hour or so to Burlington. Sheila and Bob answered quickly to questions and suggestions. Great stay in Vermont!

    Lucia2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This house has everything you need and is extremely confortable and welcoming but the best thing for me was the garden. It is beautifully restful with lovely areas to sit with a drink and watch the birds. Also a patio, a barbecue, a fire pit, and even a stream to watch. Bliss!

The house has open access to the lake and has one small boat also. In the house, kitchen has all facilities in terms of microwave, oven, utensils, cutlery, coffee maker etc. There is one beautiful bedroom and another one with two bunk beds. The house is overall very clean. Roxanne has very well given nice touches in terms of facilities.

  • Roxannes cabin is in a great location to sit and taken in a north american lake. Comfortable and as advertised

    Cally2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean cottage inside, lots of utensils, towels etc to meet all our needs during our visit. The landscaping does not do justice to the interior of the chalet which is excellent. Plan to bring groceries and food before arriving because the shops are relatively far (15-20 minutes). Roxane is an excellent host, for a first rent on air bnb we could not have hoped for better!

Wake to the sounds of the waves lapping against the shore. Your cottage is situated in a quiet cove on Lake Champlain north from Kill Kare State Park and in front of Burton Island. The Cottage offers spectacular views, great fishing, and lots of bird sightings. There is a large deck and a nice little beach in front of the cottage. Certified Kiteboard Instructors next door, inquire about lessons before you arrive! SUP boards available.
What makes this space unique is the location, it's a very private spot with a beach and all the solitude you could want. The interior and decor are basic, but it is very clean and all the wonder lies on the lake. Enjoy the serenity, get on a Stand Up Paddle Board, or you may even want to take a Kiteboard lesson. The fishing is phenomenal!
The area is a very secluded summer camp location. The road dead ends at our cottage and The Sweet Cottage.
  • The cottage is extremely clean and has lovely touches without being too cluttered. The view of the lake is fantastic from both the living room as well as the enclosed porch. I did want to mention that the beds are very firm but plenty of blankets which is great for those chilly nights.

  • Jerri's place, Sweet Cottage on Lake Champlain, is the perfect spot to get away from it all and relax on a small corner of paradise. Sipping coffee or wine on the deck as we watched marine life on the lake and sail boats floating by we were able to slow life down and refresh. The cottage has everything you need with lots of extras like games and movies and Jerri is truly a super host - friendly, inviting and attentive. Incredible location and a wonderful host. We cannot wait to return next year.

  • Such a beautiful and cozy house, located in between an impressive amount of maple trees, we had a really lovely stay. The house was squeaky-clean and had all the necessary tools to cook ourselves some nice meals. Definitely recommend!

  • Superb rustic and clean chalet. The tranquility of the site, the river and the forest, all near the city and without traffic to access it, made us get out of the routine and relax well!

  • Beautiful little nest for a peaceful retreat in nature!

    Jolianne2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I were all very happy with our weekend stay, there was plenty of space, thoughtful touches and our host was very generous with their quick responses. I would definitely recommend!

    Emilie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • André was quick to respond, he’s a great host. The cabin is absolutely beautiful, the pictures don’t do it justice. It’s very rustic with a lot of custom, hand made finishing touches. For example there’s a candle hanging from the bathtub, so you can take a bath under candle light. The area is very calm and great for walks. The kitchen is fully furnished, we cooked all our meals and there’s everything you need, all the way to oyster knives. The main sleeping room is very big with 2 beds and a hammock! It’s by far the coolest cabin I ever stayed at. Thanks André

    Kiel 2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time with the family at the chalet in Florence and André. A quiet and warm place. We were able to get away from the noise and hassle of the city. Thank you so much!

    Patrice2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful!!

    Isabelle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend renting this cottage! First, André & Florence are effective on the communication side and respond to requests with eagerness and kindness. The cottage is all that can be expected from a cottage with a rustic character to perfection. Fully equipped, nothing was left to chance. I loved preparing meals in the great kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the peace reigns! The only regret we had was not renting for a longer period than just a weekend. Regarding the water point; the small river at the bottom of the land is easily accessible and a canoe is at our disposal. We enjoyed our little walk on the water. If you are a fisherman or you want to swim there is not ideal because, as we were watching the comments, the river is not clear, but it was not our criterion first nor a negative side for us. The small BBQ and outdoor terrace are very nice and were well appreciated during our weekend. What a wonderful stay with friends we spent in these places! See you soon, I hope! ❤️

Lovely cabin with lake access. Gas and charcoal grill available, screened in sun room. The cabin is open concept and great for social gatherings. All the amenities, linens, cutlery, dishes, bedding etc.
Big lot with a small portable fir pit to either gather in the front or backyard for a fire. This is an all wood rustic style cabin that usually brings about all the whims of mother nature. That said this cabin is not free of dust ,dirt and cobwebs even though the cabin is cleaned from top to bottom on any given day.
  • This is a super cabin for a break by the lake. Close to the town of Swanton, and yet ideal for nature lovers. Good base for weekend breaks or longer stays. Would recommend!!

    Martyn2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little place, enough for our family of 2 adults, 2 small children, and 2 dogs. Beautiful lake and great hiking trails available at the National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Good value camp fitting in well with the rustic location

  • Overall a good experience. Neighbors are friendly and location is very quiet.

    William2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was worth it. Trevor was also available whenever we had a question. The place is great. Only small issue was the bed that gave us small back pain but I would still come again. And I think the town is having some issues with the water so it wasn't good to drink or wash dishes but Trever was kind enough to leave us plenty of bottled water to drink. Other than that awesome.

    Levi2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for a nice get away with the family. Trevor was very responsive and helpful. We brought our ten year old son and puppy with plenty of space for us all to relax. We spent time at the beach across the street from the cabin and the neighbors were very welcoming and pleasant when we did see them. There is a little marina/market a short walk away from the cabin if you forget anything or want to go on an evening stroll for ice cream. Amazing Lake Champlain sunset views!

    Menina2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a rustic cabin (very cozy!), this is the perfect place. Small, but well-stocked and very up-to-date. The main space includes the kitchen and living room with beautiful wood paneling, plenty of windows, and nice lighting...there's also a wood stove and a TV - with limited channels (but the selection includes NBC). We woke up each morning to beautiful lake views (the lake is literally across the road) and gorgeous sunsets in the evenings. There's a nice fire pit and two grills - for charcoal or gas (although the gas grill didn't have a hose hook-up, so you would need to buy one). For cooking inside or outside, you'll have everything you need. The bathroom was spacious and nice and the shower's hot and cold water worked great. The two bedrooms were small, but cozy (note: they did have a bit of an old wood smell). For anyone hoping to spend some time by the lake and not wanting to break the bank doing so, I would highly recommend this cabin. We'll definitely contact Trevor about coming back when we next decide to go to Swanton - he's a great host and communicated well with us.

    Dylan2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Trevor was a great host. The house was nicely set up and everything you needed was their and ready for use. It was very cozy and clean. The only bad thing I can say is the beds were not the most comfortable. The lake was beautiful and the neighborhood was nice and quiet. We had a great stay and will be back the next time we are in Vermont.

  • This well equipped, cozy chalet is the perfect retreat for a couple, family or group of friends. We enjoyed the easy access to the islands, state parks, and small New England villages. Burlington and Montreal are within an hour for more restaurants and culture. I appreciated the ample kitchen supplies and spices for ease of cooking. Bring firewood for an indoor or outdoor fire :). Only issue I'd share is that if anyone in your party is allergen sensitive, there is a mold smell emanating the house. There are plenty of candles and once you're inside for awhile, you adapt, but those with mold allergies may be affected differently. Otherwise... enjoy!

    Meta2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house has all of the basic amenities and is very welcoming. It's nestled in a scenic lakeside community, where any necessities are readily available within a 20 minute car ride. My family and I stayed for five, restful nights and we all enjoyed the serenity of our surroundings. If you feel you miss the "bustle" of a city, Montreal is a little over an hour away. This is the perfect town to be able to access the best of both worlds. The picturesque scenery is truly breathtaking- especially if you decide to watch the sun set over Lake Champlain!

    Kami2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed our time at Trevor's place. The house was neat and easy to access. The lake was pretty easy get to, although it was a little unclear where the best place to access it was. We would stay again for sure.

Perfect for relaxing, reading a good book, fishing, water sports, golfing, and also to use as a home base for fun day trips. Dogs are welcome, but require Owner approval and payment of a $75 per dog per trip fee, maximum of 2 dogs.
This cottage is newly renovated and very clean. The furnishings and products used in this cottage are based on our families need for comfortable and easy to clean space. I hope you enjoy it.
I love this location. A mile down the road is one of the nicest state parks in Vermont, the Alburgh Dunes State Park. It is an easy walk, as the terrain is mostly flat, or a very short drive or bike ride. For lunch, my favorite spot is the Alburgh Golf Links Club House, a very casual place with a great deck that looks south down the lake and very good food and very good prices. When I need food, my first stop is the Harborside Market 1.5 miles east, just over the bridge, in North Hero. They have all the basics and a very good deli and meat counter. The walk-in beer cooler is well stocked and there is a growler refill station here as well. Going out to dinner?Just 7 miles north of us on Route 2 is the Ransom Bay Inn. A charming refurbished stagecoach stop that has a cozy dining room and excellent food. It is our first favorite place for dinner.

  • Was a wonderful stay. Sparkling clean! Spacious place. Really loved it! Mitch was a great host, very responsive!

  • Mitch’s Place is beautiful. It’s comfortable with all the amenities of home, extremely clean and comfortably decorated - tasteful and pleasant. The views and private decks are stunning - while we visited in January we still enjoyed a quick sit and memorable view. I would highly recommend Mitch’s place and I look forward to returning.

    Brenda2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Mitch's lake front rental! While we missed peak color, we were still able to enjoy being right on the water on the beautiful upstairs and downstairs porches. The home is equipped for staying in and hanging out (which is how we spent our rainy Sunday!) Or getting out and about in nearby St Albans, Burlington, or by crossing the border to Montreal (~75 min drive). The home is very tasteful decorated and we were happy to be able to make breakfast in to start our days adventures. Mitch was also very accommodating when we arrived earlier than check in time, and we were able to get in and get settled so we had most of first day to start exploring. We would love to come back in the summer and take full advantage of this lakefront gem! We definitely highly recommend!!

  • Mitch’s place is fantastic. Located on the lake provides direct water access and spectacular views. The place is very clean with everything you need for a great stay. It’s about a 10-15 minutes drive into to town if you are looking for restaurants. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place on the lake.

  • Thanks again for this weekend! The chalet is magnificent in a splendid setting. The attentions paid to travelers are extremely appreciated! A chimney fire awaited us on our arrival, and all the details present (cotton in the bathroom, make-up removal towel, puzzle, complete kitchen utensils etc) make the stay ideal !! I highly recommend

  • I don’t even know where to start, I love this place so much. This was a winter trip and can’t wait to come back in summer for kayaking. The house and view are absolutely perfect. It was nice and cozy in the winter, communication was excellent. We had complete privacy but knew they were close by if we needed anything. Love the house and truly felt at home. My God I love that lake and this spot on it. I Airbnb a lot lot lot, and this is right up there as one of my favorite places to stay.

  • Nancy’s home is truly lovely. It’s sparkling clean, well appointed, generously stocked, and Lake Champlain is steps from the back door. Highly recommend as a vacation or weekend travel destination.

  • Beautiful cottage right on Lake Champlain that has bright and sunny views to the lake. We loved doing day trips around the area and coming back to the cottage to watch the sunset every night. There is a lovely screened in porch to eat meals in and everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals. It was a great place to spend time together.

  • A quaint, stylish home with great amenities right on the lake. We spent a week there as our family vacation and spent the days exploring the North Country, swimming in the lake, and cooking meals. Took a great day trip to Montreal.

You'll never want to leave The Shoreline Cottage, a charming North Hero vacation rental, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, packed with a wood-burning stove, charcoal grill, and direct access to regal Lake Champlain. Plan out your day while relaxing on the Adirondack chairs on the property's lawn, which is just 20 feet from the lake's shore. Spend your day wandering the shore in search of fossils. You can walk or drive about three miles to the west side of Isle La Motte to Saint Anne's Shrine for quiet reflection or a fulfilling brunch. In town is Hero's Welcome for Vermont-based gifts and goods. Just nine miles away is North Hero State Park where you may spot white-tail deer and ruffled grouse. Staying lakeside at the cottage may be your cup of tea, however. Made for the laid-back traveler, this home provides plenty of quiet nooks to unwind with loved ones. Play Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit at the expandable card table in the sunroom – until the sun sets when you'll want to watch the sky shift shades from the ample lake-facing windows. On chilly fall evenings, head into the living room for apple cider toddies. If you never get a chance to lounge in front of the TV at home, feel free to do so here with the cable-equipped flatscreen. New England summers are divine for fixing sweet corn and clams over the smoky charcoal grill. Behind the gorgeous cabinetry of the fully stocked kitchen are all the tools and dining ware needed. This single-level home has two bedrooms that will accommodates four adults and two additional children. The master bedroom features a cozy queen-size bed in which guests can go from their pillows right out to the lake through a sliding glass door! The second room has two twin beds, and there's a pull-out sofa in the living room. A maximum of six guests are welcome here! Up to two family dogs are also welcome here for a small nightly fee. Other amenities include a full bathroom, outdoor shower for a post-swim rinse, and WiFi. This is a great rental for avid bikers who enjoy rides filled with incredible views. In addition to Isle La Motte attractions, you'll find even more with a 45-mile drive from the cottage. If you love a good scenic drive, take a 24-mile trip down to South Hero or 45 miles into mainland to Burlington. This Lake Champlain vacation cottage will invoke serenity and good memories for years to come. Book soon! • What a gem. Nice and quiet dead end road. We saw only a handful of vehicles the entire time. The place is rustic, and they emphasize that in the description. They do clean the place very well. This is a camp and you are going to see a spider or two, but that comes with the territory of a camp on the water. I prepared myself for a musty smell -- but I was wrong and glad I was, no musty at all. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen is perfect. One of the days we stayed, the wind was at a constant 20mph, up to 45mph and you would have never known -- this place is not drafty at all and we stayed comfy with the efficient and easy-to-use woodstove. If you like to take walks with your pup, the road to the right and left are nice and flat, especially if you have an older dog. We brought all our food with us and cooked every meal. We learned later of a local store that carries a full butcher shop and really great food. Next time we will just shop there on the way to camp -- we definitely plan on going back for a week or so and explore more of the State Parks. Thank you for opening your camp and trusting us with your property.

  • Great place! Super relaxing and refreshing.

  • This cottage is quiet, cozy, and a perfect summer retreat! Great views looking out onto Lake Champlain from almost every room in the house. Charcoal pit outside is perfect for grilling. And it’s just steps away from the water to enjoy a swim!

  • This cottage was the perfect getaway to unplug and unwind! We enjoyed sunrises over the lake and cooking all dinners on the outdoor grill. Opening the windows and French doors with provides screens created the perfect breeze. Not too hot at all! When I did have a question about parking the host was responsive right away!

  • This is a great find! We are totally going to be going back to this place!

    Derrick2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful spot off the beaten track. So quiet! The sound of the lake lulls you to sleep.

  • Great place to stay when you're visiting the island. Convenient when you're venturing off, too. Right on the water, beautiful sunrises.

Straight on beautiful Lake Champlain. That’s all you need to relax!!! Friendly neighborhood so definitely NOT a party place...
  • We have just had an amazing stay at Fabien. The location is great with the beautiful view of Lake Champlain. The cottage is very comfortable it lacks nothing! Nice warm atmosphere. We will definitely come back :))

  • Wonderful place, just bring drinking water in case the previous group runs it down before owner can restock. Also there's low signal from ATT and Sprint, so not having Wifi can make it hard with young people in your group.

    Todd2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fabien's place merges simplicity and natural beauty to make for a wonderful experience. We were sure to be back each night for dinner so we could watch the sunset over the water --remarkable!

    Mike2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage with magnificent views. Fabien is very friendly and welcomed us. He took the time to go around the cottage with us. It is also easily reachable when needed. The stay was very pleasant and relaxing. The water from the wells gives off a certain smell, but Fabien informed us as soon as we arrived. It was great !

  • Very nice quiet chalet, well equipped, with access to the lake by the stairs. We loved our family holiday!

    Léa2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views and lake access. Super quiet. On windy days we had many wind and kite surfers shredding the lake right there. We came prepared for much cooler weather than we found. Quick access to the Champlain Isles, and an hour to the summer fun of Montreal and Burlington. Not a luxury resort, but far above roughing it. Surrounded by a national wildlife refuge. Fireflies.

    Jack2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Fabien's place. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need for grilling, cooking, relaxing, etc. The deck / yard had a beautiful view of the lake with steps right down to the shoreline. Our two dogs absolutely loved running around the yard and swimming all day long! I highly recommend visiting and hope to make a return visit soon! Fabien was so thoughtful and even offered us ripe tomatoes from his beautiful garden. They were delish!

  • This place is absolutely amazing!!!! The home and property are even more beautiful in person, and that NEVER happens. We had access to two single kayaks, two bikes, a fire pit, wood stove, and a whatever else we may have needed. It even has everything you need to cook every meal at right home. And though it's outside of town, it's just a few shorts miles to anything you may need in Swanton. Did I mention it always comes with a view of the Milky Way?! Our host, Fabien, was an incredible host as well. He is just a text away for anything you may need. He truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home. He even had the wood stove set up and ready to be lit when we went to use it the first night. He provided towels, sheets, and blankets as well, which you don't usually get with renting a home. It was such a wonderful trip, made even better by awesome hosts and a property even more beautiful in person. Thank you so much for everything, Fabien!
