Add logs to a roaring fire in a majestic stone fireplace and snuggle together on a couch. Make meals in a country-style kitchen and dine at a family size rustic table. Wander out to the veranda and lie in a hammock with a view of nothing but trees. Watch the goats play or listen to the birds and read your favorite book. Feel free to hike through the woods to the river. A quick 7-mile drive to App State football games or concerts. In the winter ski or tube any of the four resorts an easy 10-14 miles away. Grandfather Mountain may also be your thing. It's only 19 miles. Book your stay today!
Located in historic Valle Crucis (between Boone and Banner Elk), this residence is the entire upper floor of our recently renovated Carriage House. Access to the floor is via a private staircase at the front of the building. The staircase can be locked at the bottom or the top. The lower residence of The Carriage House is also available on AirBnB (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/28276506) as a separate rental. We have installed extensive sound proofing between the floors but you still might occasionally hear a little noise. To help ensure a positive experience for the guests in the lower residence, we ask that you leave your shoes at the top of top of the stairs. Our family lives in the historic farm house nearby and is available as needed. Most of the furniture in the residence is original to the property or the area. At 1,200 sq ft this two bedroom, one bathroom features two queen beds and one queen sized sofa bed. It has a fully stocked kitchen including Keurig coffee machine, stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and kitchen basics for six. The private outdoor deck is shielded from the rain and snow; however, provides a tranquil atmosphere ideal for reading a favorite book or enjoying a delicious cup of coffee. Relax in the hammock and listen to the birds or watch the fireflies in the forest. Or feel free to borrow a couple of our inflatable tubes and float the Watauga River. Additionally, the residence has a 70 inch flat screen television in the main living area. With the attached AppleTV, you can access your movie or music libraries via your Netflix, Amazon, or other related account. Keep in mind that internet is spotty in the mountains and our cell phone coverage is poor.
Located in Valle Crucis, near Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, the Carriage House was used for horses on a farmstead 100 years ago. Nearby Valle Crucis Park is a wonderful way to spend a family day outside. The Orignial Mast General Store is 1-mile away and the Blue Ridge Parkway is an easy drive.
  • This place was so beautiful! The entire upstairs cottage was huge! The location was beautiful! I really enjoyed every bit of this trip. Typically I could fine something to complain about. But this place honestly was such a good vibe that negative thoughts couldn’t take place in such a relaxing place. There was no cell service. Which was actually relaxing. They did have WiFi however, which is how I communicated with Leslie. She responded right away every time. Also had plenty places for me to choose from as far as dinner, breakfast, sunrise views, or sunset views. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to get away from the hustle of everyday life.

  • Amazing place to stay!! Super cute animals outside nearby but are not a disturbance at all :) beautiful decor and hosts were extremely friendly /easy to reach! Definitely recommend staying here.

    Katy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Carriage House, upper level, was perfect for our little family of 3. A very clean and inviting space! Leslie checked in to make sure our stay was going well. We were very pleased with everything and are looking forward to another stay on our next trip to the mountains!

  • Look no further. This is the spot. Couldn’t ask for more of an at home feel. High end feel with down home vibe. Book it If you can. Won’t regret it.

  • There's not much I can say about staying at Leslie's location that she hasn't already listed in the information page of her listing. Everything was exactly as described, which I think is quite rare and truly represents the amount of care, detail, and professionalism she puts into making this place as warm, homey, and stylish as she can so that you enjoy your stay. I would absolutely stay here again, it was beautiful and relaxing! P.S: They have 2 goats and it made my girlfriend's weekend.

    Noah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely the RIGHT choice! We were really lucky to find this Carriage house available for our weekend! It was: - so cozy - peaceful, great environment - vintage decor, yet very modern - organized - had plenty of amenities - the location was perfect, only a couple minutes away from restaurants & attractions - Our hosts kept us updated about check-In/ check- out, very easy to reach Overall... we really enjoyed our stay here. I highly recommend it! We look forward to staying here in the near future. Thank you, for allowing us to stay in this beautiful home.

    Leslie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the carriage house! I only wish we could have stayed longer. Upon arrival, my teenage sons kept saying what a great place it was. My daughter loved on all the kitties, and even got to pet sweet Bella. She's still talking about Lavender, her personal favorite. We felt right at home, and all the personal touches gave a warmth to the space. Leslie was helpful and available through Air BB app, but never intrusive. We will definitely be back!

    Heather2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Great place! Clean, comfortable, and convenient ! This was our third time staying at the carriage house. We will be back again!

Rekindle a childlike sense of discovery in the loft bedroom nestled under a peaked roof. A grownup treehouse vibe continues downstairs with woodsy furniture, folk art details, and a wood stove. Relax outdoors on the swing overlooking a rushing creek, or open all the windows to let in the mountain breeze while you relax with the novel you've been waiting to read. This sweet A-frame is 700 square feet of charm with windows that overlook the forest. Let your heart find some peace here.
Simple and pretty, this cabin is a mountain retreat with room for your soul to breathe. It’s in a little neighborhood of other cabins, so not isolated, but with such quietness and the rush of the creek, which you can usually hear even when you’re inside the cabin. The tall windows view the forest, and it’s an amazing feeling to look out into the treetops from the loft bed. The cabin is ideal for couples, or a getaway with a friend because of its smaller scale, and we think you’ll like how close it is to downtown Boone. We keep the cabin sparkling clean and have tried to think of all the special touches that will make you feel at home here. The cabin is shaded in the summer and stays quite cool. We’ve installed a ceiling fan in the loft for those of you who like air movement any time of year. In December, the cabin will be decorated for the holidays, and there will be plenty of twinkle lights to brighten up your evenings during the ski months! The cabin has cable TV in the living room that can also connect to your streaming apps like Netflix, and there’s a second TV in the downstairs bedroom with Roku. But if you want to unplug from all that, you can! Maybe light some candles or a little fire in the wood stove and settle in with a good book. Maybe you just want to write or sit outside and breathe. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, including a new stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, and blender. There’s a crock pot for slow cooking a meal while you hike or ski. A new gas grill is on the deck. And if you feel like being outside during the warmer months, you can eat meals at the long outdoor wooden table and sip coffee in the deck rocking chairs. Steps and an inclined pebble path lead down to the creek. The cabin has a steep staircase leading to the loft in typical A-frame fashion. (We do not recommend this cabin for children, in part because of the deck railings, steep stairs, and loft.) Explore downtown Boone, or if you like, we can recommend some amazing hiking trails. Honestly though, we wouldn’t blame ya if you just wanted to relax at the cabin all day. This place really does have a little magic. :)
The Cozy Owl A-Frame is located in a quiet area only 6 minutes from King Street and Downtown Boone. It's private, yet not isolated, sitting on the side of a mountain in the woods with other cabins.
  • Absolutely loved it here! It was such a wonderful weekend getaway. Definitely wish we had more time to spend there. It is beyond cozy. The fire, quiet area, and the sound of the stream made it such an incredible experience. We would spend all day doing nothing but relaxing there if we could.

    Brian2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This little A-Frame is a dream! We enjoyed our time here so much. The cabin is comfortable and homey and so well decorated. We had everything we needed for a few days of relaxing in Boone. Definitely plan to go back soon!

    Ali2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at the cabin! Everything lived up to our expectations - the place was beautiful and the host was so kind, plus easy to communicate with. I’d go back and stay in a heartbeat!

  • Great place and location. Kimberly is a great host and went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule. Really a lovely home!

    Dawn2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! The place was very clean and comfortable. The small touches made a great impression. Would definitely stay here again.

    Dustin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin was perfect for my getaway weekend with sisters. We stayed bundled up by the fire playing games most of the time, and couldn’t have asked for anything else. Beds were comfy, kitchen had everything we needed, and we were a quick skip from Boone. Would definitely come back here.

    Kelly2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Love this charming home. We’ve stayed multiple times and can’t wait to visit again. The property & host are amazing!

  • This beautiful cabin nestled in the mountains of Boone is thoughtfully curated and so very comfortable. Perfect for a weekend getaway and with very easy access to downtown Boone without compromising the cabin feel.

The nook at Beulah Land is a super great deal for one guest! It’s a small but very comfy-cozy corner in the upstairs hall of my 100 year old farmhouse on the banks of Brushy Fork Creek, with a Chenille privacy curtain. Flat screen TV with cable, and access to all shared areas: -big covered porch on Brushy Fork Creek, kitchen, living room and bath. Can’t wait to share my little slice of heaven with you! I have two friendly kitties so if you’re allergic, this probably won’t work for you!
You will have access to all the common areas of my house. This includes a tastefully furnished living room, dining room and kitchen with hardwood floors and high ceilings as well as a wonderful covered front porch that overlooks Brushy Fork Creek. My property is on two manicured acres of land, with lots of beautiful space two sit and enjoy yourself.
  • Lee Ann's nook is a great little space. It is small and fit for 1 solo traveler. It is very economical and just what you need for a comfy night's stay. Lee Ann is a fantastic host and her home feels very warm and welcoming. I instantly loved it there. Everyone is friendly - including her charming dog and very sweet kitty. Kitty did sleep most of the night with me, so animal-friendly preference for your stay will be more comfortable. I really enjoyed having a purring companion! The nook is just that - a nook on the upstairs landing. It does have privacy with a curtain but do note there is not a door or 4 walls. I felt safe and secure the whole time. I did not worry about my safety or the safety of my stuff while I was away. Lee Ann's home is just like that, a home and a safe place. It's easy to find with adequate parking and a full kitchen if you want to cook. The living room and dining room are available and lovely places to sit outside, weather permitting. This is not fancy. It's not super deluxe. It's comfortable and friendly galore!

    Elizabeth2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great hospitality and great company. I highly recommend this if you're traveling to Boone any time soon!

    Marcus2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures are very accurate. It is a small adequate space for 1. It is semi private with the curtain. The animals like to say hello. The cats enjoyed sleeping with me. I am used to it asI sleep with my cats at home. The bathroom is shared with many so cleanliness can vary with the ability of others to take that into account and clean up after themselves.

    Amy2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I was able to book this at the last minute and the location fit our needs perfectly. I'll definitely book this space again in the future.

    G2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and relaxing. I really enjoyed my stay.

    Daniel2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at Beulah Land. This time, I took the little nook at the end of the stairs on the second floor. It's not for everyone, but I feel so comfortable and at home at Lee Ann's place. Very chill and special, as is she!

    Cynthia2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lee Ann was an amazing host, so kind and chatty, and really made me feel at home. Her home was perfect for a few nights in Boone for either business or pleasure! And her dog and two cats were just the icing on top of the cake, they were all so friendly and loved cuddles!

    Shauna2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was absolutely wonderful! The house and property are beautiful, and Lee Ann is just the best host! I loved it here, and I definitely recommend it.

We welcome everyone to our quiet loft. Totally separate from our house, so your privacy is assured. My cleaning includes alcohol wiping of all faucet handles, light switches, door handles refrig, sink, stove, tub, toilet, lamp and remote controls. 12 minutes from Boone. Cozy modern and roomy. Pet free space. Stocked kitchen. Bike ride some of the finest roads in Watauga. Views of Snake mountain & Tater Hill, famous for hang gliding.Trout fishing 3 nearby ski slopes. Mondays are budget wise.
The loft is completely separate from our house, so privacy is yours. We are in the rural area, west of Boone, what most people call "the country". Our area of Watauga has been used for years by professional bikers to train for international races. We are also located on the Blood, Sweat and Gears route, and only one half hour from the Virginia Creeper Trail. We are just off 421 and not too far from Elk Knob State Park. We are also less than 15 minutes from the Watauga River and a public access for kayaking and canoeing. We have two kayaks available, so with advance notice we can do trips and pick ups for a reasonable charge . Deluxe River Runnner tubes are also available for trips down the River from Valle Crusis Park, which is one half hour away; great trout fishing in season. We can do pick up and delivery for a small fee. You are 25 min. away from 3 out of 4 local ski slopes..........or, you can just relax and look at the wildlife.
This area of Watauga County is an old farming community with houses sprouting up over the years. A nice mix of new and rural. Mountains, Sharp creek, gardens and trees, chickens and goats, birds and cows surround you. From the ridge tops you can see all the surrounding ski slopes. Friendly people and a safe neighborhood in the Silverstone area.
  • Super clean and very quiet! Mary was also soooo quick to respond! Definitely will stay here in the future!

  • A truly beautiful place, extremely clean, good hikes out the door, and Nita is a joy. We will be back!

    Kevin2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place all around. Clean modern styling, fully usable kitchen facilities with some basics stocked for use like salk/pepper/butter. The space was comfortable, clean, and for those of you who care had good feng shui. Mary Nita was good with communication. This place is a 6 minute drive to Jung Tao and ~20 minute drive to downtown Boone. It was very quite and peaceful. It was very easy to find and the parking was very clear and very easy. I had a great experience here and highly recommend it.

    Stephen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This loft is perfect! Clean, cozy, tastefully decorated and reasonably priced. Highly recommend staying here!

    Natalie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely open space!

    Dalton2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for something out of the way that’s nestled in beautiful Appalachia, this is a great place that fits the bill. Mary Nita’s space is extremely clean, private and tastefully decorated. I especially liked the little fan by the bed (if you’re someone like me who prefers to sleep colder with a bit of ambient noise). She replies quickly if you have any questions and overall it’s just a wonderful place to stay away from hassle but never far from things to do.

    Clay2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Silverstone Loft is one of my favorite places to stay in the Boone area- super clean, newly remodeled, great location, and Mary Nita is a wonderfully kind and responsive host. Highly recommend!

    Erin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Nita's space is restful and comfortable. You can easily cook, there are plenty of books to read, and the location is peaceful. We had a great stay.

  • Really nice place. Perfect size for 2 people. Spacious and clean. Host was responsive and very nice. I would definitely stay here again. Wonderful stay. Just a little ways out from Boone, but not too far. Perfect. Highly recommend for couples. Very cute and quiet.

  • This place was exactly what we were looking for. We just wanted to get away for the weekend and enjoy Boone and Blowing Rock and this place was plenty convenient for us. The original Mast General Store and Sunrise Grill were a vert short drive and a great way to start a Saturday morning. If you’re looking for a cozy place to stay in the Highlands I highly recommend this. Susan has everything you need however, we just basically slept and showered so we didn’t take advantage of all the thoughtful gestures and hospitality. Thanks again for the opportunity, it was greatly appreciated.

    Steve2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is a wonderful hostess who is quick to respond to any questions or needs! You can expect an adorable little cottage with a very clean and homey atmosphere.

  • If you are looking for a home away from home this is the place. Great location for a trip into Boone and App State. Our 1st use of an Air bnb and it exceeded our expectations. The house was super clean and comfortable, everything was wonderful. Easy check in and out. Will defiantly look to book the location again. Thank you to Susan!!!

Holly Ridge Cottage is a charming standalone cottage on an old mountain homestead. Originally built in 1878, it has been recently refurbished while maintaining the original character. Located in Western Watauga County, we are on a quiet road only 15 minutes from Boone and Valle Crucis. This is a farming area, quiet and serene with the Rich Mountain range in view. Cove Creek borders the entire property frontage. The cottage is an open living area and kitchen on the first floor and a
bedroom, small walk in closet and bathroom with full tub/shower in the roomy upstairs loft. We are a small farm with chickens and goats in fenced areas on the property. The cottage porch and outdoor pergola area offer rocking chairs and a beautiful view of the garden and wooded ridge.
Our property boarders pastoral land and you may see cows, horses and donkeys at given times during the day. Guests may wander about and visit the goats, say hello to the chickens, walk down to the creek and enjoy the seating areas and shade gardens.
  • WONDERFUL space! Exactly as advertised. The goats are wonderful, the space is so comfortable, clean, and inviting. Definitely a gem in Boone!

    Libby2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is such a gem! Perfect size for a couple or single person wanting to enjoy the serenity and peace of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Everything you need is provided and the house is located about 12-15min to town. Very convenient and super cute! Accessible in the snow with front wheel drive. Do yourself a favor and book a stay with Sarah and Stobie!

  • Sarah & Stobie’s cottage was everything we were hoping for and then some! Everything was just amazing—very spacious, stylish, clean, and comfortable! It was perfect for a mountain getaway! We highly recommend staying here and will be sure to return ourselves!

    Kayla2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah & Stobie’s cottage is beautiful and romantic!!! Very cozy, quaint, & unique vibes. We absolutely loved our stay: the decor was lovely, desirable open floor plan, couch & bed were super comfy!!! I really wish I knew what type of mattress the bed has because it was wonderful! The cottage was super clean. The fireplace, books, and fully equipped kitchen were all noteworthy touches. Location was private with a secluded/country cottage feel yet convenient to Boone, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain & Sugar Mountain restaurants and activities. Goats and chickens/rooster were fun to watch. Mountain View’s and private porch/terrace type area with a table and chairs were also accommodating. I think this is my favorite Airbnb stay so far! Thanks so much Sarah & Stobie for such a warm inviting place that made our memories on this trip more special! Thanks again!

    Brittany2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! Super clean and they were very very helpful! Definitely will have to stay again, great location.

    Ryan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely worth the already reasonable price. One of the most comfortable beds I have slept on in an airbnb to date.

    Graham2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is so cute! Lovely place to stay for a long or short trip. So clean and tidy! Everthing you need for a very comfortable stay - from a great bed, a modern bathroom to full kitchen supplies - pots, pans, cooking utensils. Even though the weather was chilly and blustery out, we were warm and snug. The location is great - out in the countryside but close to Boone for dinner or ski resorts. The chickens outside are fun to watch (and you can't hear them inside!) and the goats are friendly and hilarious to see romping up the hill. We felt totally safe and welcome. I would love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the patio and grill.

  • This was our second time staying here and we would definitely do it again. A very clean and practical place. The only noises we ever really heard was a dog barking for a minute or two after arriving but it didn't bother us at all.

If you are looking to simply get away and get lost, and truly want an “experience” that checks all the boxes, you have found your cabin, close to the center of the High Country, but so far away from your day to day reality - Sugar Grove is the perfect home base for your vacation, only 20 mins from Boone! So why not add a petting zoo as well? The Goats, ducks, bunnies and chickens have landed!) And they are a riot!
The Bethel community is a lot of farms, large acreage tracts, a state-maintained road and lovely neighbors. We even have our own convenience store up the road on 321, Cove Creek where you can get firewood and everything you need to cook and enjoy the mountain (and Barn) life!
  • Adorable cabin. Super fun property. Beautiful landscape. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend Connie's place.

  • Beautiful place. Enjoyed our stay.

  • Connie and Her husband couldn’t have been any more accommodating to me. They were so hospitable and sweet and concerned about my comfort at their place. Their property is nothing I can even really describe in words, the work, structures , and fun pieces they’ve installed, hammocks , fire pits, hot tubs , swings, made it feel like a retreat. The interior decor is unbelievably aesthetic, It made me never want to leave. If your looking for a getaway to ease your mind from the daily stresses of home, COME HERE . You will not regret it . I want to come back for the rest of my life, they may get annoyed of my requesting to book, that’s how amazing it is.

    Crys2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • I honestly do not have the words to describe how amazing this place is! From the rustic, romantic feel to the property, this place has it all! I would suggest any location on this property! This was my second trip and will definitely not be my last!

    Micah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in a great area.

  • This woodsy cabin experience was great! Everything inside and out was warm, cozy, and inviting. Spotless and trendy and just outstanding in every way. Love the coffee/snack bar and the games and books....and Oh.....the fireplace was just so soothing. And the touch of “beachiness” in the bathroom really was neat...The host were both just nice genuine people. Hope to come back soon~

  • Wonderful people !!!!! This was our first stay at an Airbnb. Faith’s place was everything she said it would be . Super clean , cozy atmosphere, comfortable bed . Very helpful with suggestions and recommendations were spot on . I felt like I was staying at a friends house . Faith has set the bar very high for our expectations at other Airbnb’s we may use in the future !!!!! And when we go back to Boone , this will be our first choice of places to stay

    Todd2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very lovely place to stay with very welcoming host. This rental makes you feel like you at home!

  • Wonderful experience!

    Zachory2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place where you come to relax. Coming up the the mountains on small car was so very scenic and so very easy on the way up. Beforehand the spectacular host Faith had fore warned us of weather conditions and what would have to be done if we could not make it up their driveway. Earlier from arrival Faith had given us instructions on how to get in to the room and on arrival we were greeted by our wonderful host. She took a couple of minutes out of her time to show us the room and it’s amenities. Even tho she did show us all we needed to know, just about everything was labeled in a very organized manner. Our stay was short and did not spend much time in the room. Every day there our host would try to make it as comfortable as possible for our stay, making suggestions updates on the weather and if we needed anything else. The Bear pause Inn is a very majestic place where you just take a seat back and relax for hours. If you dream of staying on a mountain side cabin this is your place and plan to relax this is your place. Excellent Place.

  • Connie's place was amazing, wonderful communication while staying, very clean, the petting zoo definitely a plus! the place has a hiking area where you can take pictures. Very calm, relaxing, nice amenities, wifi available, cable, Disney plus, prime, and Netflix. We were not expecting this, it was wonderful for the kids.

  • This place was MORE than expected. My wife is 28 weeks pregnant and I wanted to take her on one more romantic getaway before our son arrives. This place was exactly what I was looking for. Location is amazing, Connie is friendly and very responsive, the inside was luxurious and my wife thought the massaging jet bathtub was perfect. I highly recommend this property and will definitely be coming back!

    Matt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • If you are between picking this place or another Airbnb, you MUST pick this one! The house is absolutely beautiful with the most thoughtful touches. Gorgeous design. The shower and whirlpool tub are to die for and so is the hot tub outside! There are trails and beautiful nature to observe all around the house and I always got super quick responses from the host. This place is an absolutely must stay that you don’t want to miss out on!

    Shakia2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing adventure for families with boys. Our 3 boys are 9 and we felt totally safe letting them roam the acreage and adventure without us since they have watches where we can track them on gps. They loved the teepees and tree stump forts and petting zoo. They named all the animals!

  • This was our very first Airbnb so we didn't know what to expect. So glad we choose this property. Abby & Lynn have set the bar high for future Airbnb rentals we do. Everything was as stated in the listing and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

    David2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and is stocked with all the basic essentials so you don’t need to buy a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. Abby and Lynn were also very friendly and gave us everything we needed to know about the area. I hope to come back here eventually because of how much of an escape from reality that it was!! :-)

The Alpine A is a unique solar powered structure built on a lean-to roof. Enjoy the hammock cave underneath. A deck with gas firepit, small grill with charcoal, a couple folding chairs. Inside is a small living room, kitchenette, toilet room, shower room, queen size bed, twin size bed in the loft, the couch is a futon sleeper. There is Wifi with a Sony Home Theater system. If you've ever wondered what a tiny home is like, now is your chance to experience it in the Alpine A!
  • Great location if you going to skiing at the Appalachian. Also 13 mins away from downtown. Clean and cozy. It was a good experience and my daughter likes the tiny home!

    Jose Alberto2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My siblings and I were looking for a place to stay close to Sugar Mountain, so we were looking for somewhere that sleeps 3-4. The Alpine maximizes it’s space, with a queen bed loft bed and a couch that slides out into a bed. The big draws for me were how cool it looked and that it was solar powered, and it lived up to the hype!

    Zack2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • I’m glad we stayed at here instead of a hotel. My family had a great time! My kids liked the loft area. Location was close enough to go into town yet far enough from the crowd. Check-in and check-out was so convenient and easy. Hosts were very responsive to my inquiries. We’ll definitely stay here again when we come back in the area.

  • Wonderful cabin! Kitchen and dining room are amazing! Bunk bed is not very comfortable for adults and if you have 8 adults one will be sleeping on the living room couch. I would come back for sure, just with 6 people max! Also, Over Yonder restaurant 6 minutes away is incredible!!!

  • This place was amazing!!! Super cozy, Sparkling clean and smelled soooo good all the time! I definitely will be back next year !!

    Laura2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for our yearly friends group trip. Plenty of space for conversation in multiple locations, private bedrooms, clean and comfortable bathrooms and the wood burning fireplace really was the cherry on top. The location was secluded and special, but still close enough to Boone and Banner Elk for excursions and great meals out. Communication with Jerome and Kellie was so easy and they really go above and beyond to make this place feel welcoming and homey. We will be back!

    Meg2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We just got home from an unforgettable weekend at the Briar Patch cabin! As soon as we arrived we felt right at home! We went with full intentions of being out and about, but when we got back from lunch to the cozy welcoming cabin, no one wanted to leave! The cabin has so much character and is super clean! I also can’t say enough about how welcoming and how easy it was to communicate with Jerome and Kellie! They are wonderful host. And I speak for everyone in the house when I say we 10/10 recommend this cabin! We can’t wait to book our next trip!

    Kelsey2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend getaway was perfect! We met up with our college kids for the weekend and could not have asked for a better retreat! From cozy chats by the wood fire, breakfast cooked by 20 year olds with a well furnished kitchen, and of course amazing atmosphere and views, our family was able to relax and enjoy one another. Afternoon browsing at Mast, day skiing at Beech, and day hikes to local water falls were all within 10-30 minutes of the cabin. Just a few miles away, there was lots of snow whereas we only had a cold rain so we were not able to enjoy the outdoor fire pit on this trip. We did however enjoy evening and morning fires with wood provided on site, which my boys thought was a great touch as they had brought some of their own. We highly recommend the cabin and look forward to returning in the near future!

Add logs to a roaring fire in a majestic stone fireplace and snuggle together on a couch. Make meals in a country-style kitchen and dine at an antique farm table. Watch the goats play or listen to the birds and read your favorite book. You may find kittens peering through the century old french doors at the entrance. Feel free to hike through the woods to the river. A quick 7-mile drive to App State football games or concerts. In the winter ski or tube any of the four resorts an easy 10-14 miles away. Grandfather Mountain may also be your thing. It's only 19 miles. Book your stay today!
Located in historic Valle Crucis (between Boone and Banner Elk), this residence is the entire lower floor of our recently renovated Carriage House. Access to the floor is via a private 100 year old custom oak double door at the front of the building. It is unlocked with a unique code on a Nest lock. The upper residence of The Carriage House is also available on AirBnB (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/17944509) as a separate rental. We have installed extensive sound proofing between the floors but you still might occasionally hear a little noise. Our family lives in the historic farm house nearby and is available as needed. Most of the furniture in the residence is original to the property or the area. At 1,200 sq ft this two bedroom, two bathroom features two queen beds and one queen sized sofa bed. It has a fully stocked kitchen including Keurig coffee machine, stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and kitchen basics for six. Apart from the antiques, everything is brand new. Additionally, the residence has a 50 inch flat screen television in the main living area. With the attached AppleTV, you can access your movie or music libraries via your Netflix, Amazon, or other related account. Keep in mind that internet is spotty in the mountains and our cell phone coverage is poor.
This secluded property near Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock is only a few miles from shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. It is 1 mile to the Original Mast General Store. It is also 7 miles from Grandfather Mountain and Blue Ridge Parkway.
  • We had an incredible time while staying in Banner Elk. Leslie was incredibly helpful before, during, and after our stay. We would love to stay here again and plan on returning! :)

  • Perfect getaway spot in the mountains! We loved the animal interaction with the sweet kittens, Bella the dog and the adorable goats. We had an extremely pleasant and relaxing stay. The hosts couldn’t have decorated the house better, they were also super communicative and went above and beyond to make this place extra special. By far the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. We will definitely be back!

  • We stay in the Boone/Banner Elk area once a year to go skiing in sugar mountain, and this was by far the best air bnb we have stayed at yet. It was SO cute and very homey, and they had cute animals on the property as well that made it that much more cool and the whole experience was wonderful. The place itself was clean, and provided everything we needed for our stay, the fireplace was gorgeous and came in handy multiple nights! We spent a day alone exploring the property finding a cute creek/river out back and loving on Bella (their goat protecting dog) she was the sweetest! The carriage house was located just centrally enough to get to Boone for some food and downtown exploring and then up to Banner Elk for some skiing and winter fun. We will definitely be looking into staying here in the future and recommending it to everyone!

    Hailee2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated! Impeccably clean and cozy. Leslie was very helpful, providing easy to follow check-in instructions and guides to the Airbnb and local area. Quick and easy drive to Boone as well. Wonderful stay, and will definitely stay here again when coming back to the area!

Our log cabin nestled in the “High Country” of North Carolina has been in the family since 1979 when my grandparents, looking for a place to retire, moved here after falling in love with the area. The cabin was originally built in Virginia but was moved to Valle Crucis in the 1950s. Our dream has been to turn it into a peaceful mountain get-away for people looking for a break from the busyness of life to enjoy some time in the valley to rest, relax and explore the area.
It's a small and rustic cabin with a one bedroom and a loft area, a full kitchen, living room, one full bathroom downstairs and one half bathroom upstairs. In the past it was rented out long term, but it has since become our goal to share it with short term guests through Airbnb. Repairing the house and making changes has been a considerable feat that has involved most of the family. It has been a hard but rewarding experience. Some notes about the interior of the house is that the ceilings are low on the main floor and the stairs are steep. We would not recommend this place to families with very young children or people who have trouble with stairs.
Some of the best places to visit in Valle Crucis are within two miles of our cabin. One of the most popular places in the valley is the Original Mast General Store, which is on the U.S. Register of National Historic Places. It's a great spot to find local goodies, fun toys, and great deals to commemorate your time here. The Valle Crucis Park is the perfect spot to walk or take the kids to play. You will also enjoy easy access to the Watauga River to swim or fish. The Mast Store Annex, with it’s attached “Candy Barrel”, features over 500 different candies as well as outdoor gear and more. Whether your kids want candy or you want a new water bottle, this is the place for you! If you are looking for a place to eat, Over Yonder is a delightful restaurant located directly across from the Mast General Store open every day of the week except Tuesdays. It was built in the former home of one of the founding families of Valle Crucis and is a fantastic place to eat lunch or dinner. If your wife wants to shop but you'd rather be fishing then look no further! The Watauga River is a very popular fishing spot with multiple accesses nearby that aren't hard to find. These locations are all within a five minute drive from the cabin and are must see places to visit and eat at.
  • The cabin is immaculate. It is a charming place with lots of love and hard work put into it. The cabin has a wonderful history. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back.

  • Such a wonderful cabin with a great view. It snowed both days we were there and we enjoyed watching the snow fall from the large kitchen window and porch swing. We even got to sled down the little hill on the side of the cabin.

  • My husband and I had such a charming stay in this cabin! The structure has so much character and you can tell that a great deal of care went into making this place feel like a cozy retreat. Each space is decorated so beautifully! We were able to get lost in a book, explore the sweet town of Boone, and unwind. We highly recommend this treasure! We had a lovely time.

We think you will love the quiet of Bethel. Guests are reminded of Valle Crucis, and we get that, but this is. Sweet, quiet farming area, safe and easy access.
  • It was a great little vacation for all of us. The girls (7, 7 and 8 years old) absolutely loved the private petting zoo and so did us adults. The hot tub and the hammock were also great hits with us all as well. I appreciated the fact that when we did have a question about something and I texted I received a response pretty quickly. We were already talking about our return visit :) Thank you!!

    Wisam2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay with our dogs. Great location with Boone and Banner elk near by. Many places w/outdoor seating allowed dogs. We loved the animals so make sure bring some snacks for them! We were fortunate enough to get snow and we loved every minute of it.

    Justin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! We chose this place for the petting zoo offered, given our family's love for animals and if that was the only reason for our visit, it would be enough, as the home and it's surroundings were peaceful and inviting. Do note, that the nearest grocery store is a good 30 min drive, so plan accordingly if your checking into the cabin at a certain time of day (later in the evening). Overall, they had every pan, dish, seasoning and other misc things you may need to cook meals at the cabin..... Drive to nearby cities (Boone, Blowing Rock, etc) were no more than a 30-45 min drive and a nice drive at that. Will definitely stay again!

    Michelle2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway. The place was beautiful and very well decorated. The animals are very friendly and we enjoyed feeding them. It was close to Boone and all of the shops, about 15 minutes. We really enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was very clean. We had a small problem arise and Connie handled everything so fast. We could really tell that she cared about us having a great experience. I will definitely book with her again.

    Mike2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely home and we had an amazing time in the hot tub, and especially with the animals! Connie was WONDERFUL in helping respond quickly to any issues or questions we had

    Ayana2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable cabin, perfect for families! The kids loved the farm animals outdoors and the hot tub in the back. The home was decorated neatly with little details everywhere you looked. I would definitely recommend this home!!

I love people and enjoy interacting with others- so I let you set the pace. We are five minutes from Boone- right on the banks of bold and gurgling Brushy Fork Creek. Our fortunate location has all the advantages of rural life away from the hustle and bustle of our fair college town, but with great access to all the high country has to offer: The Blue Ridge Parkway Grandfather Mountain Tweetsie Railroad Valle Crucis Park Mast General Store The Blowing Rock Mystery Hill Horn in the West Daniel Boone Park And dozens of accompanying annual festivals that are held in the surrounding area There is a road behind us that you can walk up into the hills if you like to hike- From the top there are breathtaking views of Grandfather Mountain. If you can't do hills, we are minutes from several lovely little walking tracks that are perfectly level. Generally, we are less than thirty minutes from practically ANYWHERE in the high country! There is a shuttle that comes out this way during the week- once in the morning and returns in the late afternoon. If I am here, I am always willing to help with rides- we are three miles from the first Appalcart stop which will carry you just about anyplace in Boone you'd like to go for free. There is no smoking in the house. If you smoke, you are permitted to smoke out in the yard. IF it is raining, smoking is permitted on the front porch.

Originally built in 1970, the A-Frame got a facelift in August of 2019. We opted to infuse the cabin with a modern feel while preserving it's original charm and 70's era quirks. Clean paint and bright lighting have enhanced the angles, beams and stonework through out highlighting App A-Frame's rustic beginnings. The entire home has been stocked with fresh bedding and bath linens to make your stay as cozy as possible. Don't let the exterior deceive you! App A-Frame has three spacious levels, each with a bedroom and bathroom to offer privacy to our guests. The front entrance located on the main level features the first bedroom with a Queen bed. A full bath along with the kitchen, dinning and main living areas are also on this floor. Off of this living room we have a large deck with a 6 person hot tub, out door dining area and gas grill. The second bedroom is located upstairs in the loft, has a half bath and it's own balcony facing the woods. The third bedroom and second full bath are located downstairs on the lower level. This bedroom has four beds with two being on trundles and is perfect for the kids. The basement also has a living area with wet bar and a Multicade featuring 60 of your favorite classic arcade games like Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and Galaga just to name a few. Both living areas are equipped with Smart TV's that have access to Netflix and Direct TV along with gas log fireplaces - perfect places to curl up for movie night or enjoy the big game! App A-Frame is located on two private acres that have just enough room to explore the surrounding woods, play a game of corn hole or enjoy an evening around the fire. The cabin is a short 15 minute drive into Valle Crucis, home of the original Mast General Store, Valle Crucis Community Park and our favorite restaurant Over Yonder. Banner Elk is also just 15 minutes away and it takes only 20 minutes to get to ASU Campus if you are in town to cheer on The Mountaineers. Family fun in Blowing Rock like Tweetsie Railroad and High Gravity are slightly farther out at just under 30 minutes. If you feel like taking a field trip the house is conveniently located to many outdoor attractions. We are just a 6 minute drive away from Watauga River Gorge Park for tubing, fishing or swimming. Watauga Lake is a half hour away for a fun day trip filled with more water sports, picnics or hiking and horseback riding through Cherokee National Forest. Snow skiing and snow tubing are within a 30 minute drive at Beech & Sugar Mountain. Whether you are looking for a cozy weekend getaway to rest and recharge your batteries or a fun, adventure filled visit to the beautiful North Carolina Mountains we’ve got you covered!
Sugar Grove is a quiet, quaint community just outside Valle Crucis and no more than 20 minutes from Downtown Boone and Appalachian State. Our cabin sits at 3,000 feet elevation and is very private with a sweet secluded feel, all while being in close proximity to dining options as well as fun day trip excursions.

The hosts go above and beyond all other Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in providing a bed & treats for my dog, shampoo in case you forgot it, and all sorts of tips for things to do and places to eat! Emily was very responsive too! 😊

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay, and we can’t wait to book again in the future! We arrived in town early and Emily was quick to reply to our request to check in early. The cabin itself is beautifully decorated, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. We were close enough to venture in to Boone and Blowing Rock, as well as check out the original Mast General Store, but we also enjoyed the privacy and seclusion being at the cabin!

Welcome to Boone! This circa 1900's updated cabin features 3 bedrooms, 2 remodeled baths, a wood-burning stove, hot tub, and breath taking mountain scenery. You will be minutes from downtown Boone, App State University, and anywhere else you want to be to find great dining, hiking, skiing, shopping, or other adventure. We are baby friendly and welcome you to enjoy a relaxing trip to Boone and take in the natural surroundings. This retreat is managed by Key Source Properties
**Special Note** During this time, your safety is our number one concern. We are diligently working to update our cancellation policy in response to COVID-19. Additionally, we are taking extra measures to properly sanitize and disinfect between each guest. If you have any questions, please ask.** Enjoy over an acre of beautiful, scenic North Carolina mountains. This 100 year old cabin was once a mini-farm with homestead market, which is still evident in the remaining fruit trees and spring fed stream that borders the property. The covered front porch with swing is a perfect place to enjoy the scenery or a spring rain. We have a lock box on site for your convenience, so you can check in and check out when its convenient. As you enter the house from the front door you come into the main living quarters of the house: the Living Room. This cozy space has an operational wood burning stove, perfect for brisk fall or cold winter nights. Wood is not provided for the stove but available almost year-round at local gas stations and grocery stores. We recommend getting a starter log too. The rest of the living room is equipped with comfortable, upholstered furniture, and a smart TV offering Netflix, Prime, Hulu and more! You'll also find a dining area that can accommodate 4. The sofa converts into a queen bed for additional sleeping (sheets and pillows located in Master Bedroom closet). The first full bath is directly off the living room, as well as the kitchen. The kitchen has retained its rustic charm. This was carefully done to keep as much character intact as possible. But don't worry, all modern amenities can be found here. Everything you need to make a nice meal, including pots and pans, dinnerware, coffee maker, microwave, etc. are all on site and waiting for you to work your magic. The first bedroom is on the main level and features a King size bed with memory foam mattress. The mattress is natural latex and is covered in organic cotton sheets. This ensuite contains a private, full bath. For those with infants, there is a pack and play in the closet and full-size infant crib in the bedroom. The stairs in the living room will take you to the rest of the bedrooms. The first bedroom features twin size bunk beds, with organic cotton sheets. Access to the third bedroom is through this bedroom. It does not have separate access. The third bedroom features a second king size bed with natural latex memory foam mattress and organic cotton sheets. We also provide sound machines to help our guests have a great nights sleep! Each bedroom and main living space have a separate temperature control. The temperature is set at 65 degrees in the winter. Please feel free to adjust as necessary, and return to 65 degrees when leaving. The units may take some time to come on once the temperature is adjusted. Thank you for your patience.
  • The house is a modern feeling older house that is immaculately clean. The hot tub was spotless and was an amazing amenity! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Boone.

The Log Cabin Apartment is located in the basement of our log home. It's roughly 500 sq ft and has a cozy living space, kitchen, bedroom, full bathroom, and two closets. The apartment has many wood accents that compliment the log cabin's natural vibe. Located 7 minutes from Boone, it's an ideal location for your adventure in the high country.

Cozy, private 2 BR/2 Bath brick rancher tucked away in peaceful setting just minutes from Downtown Boone & Appalachian State University. Conveniently located just a short distance to Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Enjoy shabby chic living areas with a large porch for taking in the mountain air; two bedrooms with queen size beds and two full baths; a fully stocked kitchen is available for cooking. You'll have access to Wifi, Netflix -- TVs in every room; a separate space for games or lounging in the downstairs den (futon may be used for additional guests); washer/dryer is also available should you need it.
The house is situated on a private road in a residential area. There are a few neighbors, but the area is peaceful and quiet. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the porch surrounded by wooded areas and will likely only see furry friends. You're just a few miles from downtown Boone where you will find area restaurants, bars, and shopping.
  • It was a lot of fun! Beds are soft and roomie with a nice front porch. The view is of the woods and it was nice. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and some staples. The only complaint I have is with the neighbors. Do not book this location if anyone in your family is scared of dogs. The dogs at the neighbors house are friendly but they did come up on the front porch which could be scary for some.

Conveniently located approximately 15 minutes from beautiful, historic Valle Crucis, 20 minutes from downtown Boone and 35 minutes from all area ski slopes, our home helps you get away from it all! On site hiking trails and close proximity to Watauga River make this location ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. The property is at the end of a steep, graveled private driveway, so we recommend AWD, but front-wheel drive should be good enough. If it snows, it will cover the driveway.
While there are just 2 double beds, there is plenty of space on the sofas or floor space with sleeping bags, so a group of 5 or 6 would be welcome. You will not feel crowded in our spacious trailer.
In the words of one of our guests: "Located up in the mountains away from light pollution and city noise, it was everything I wanted it to be. This trailer was cozy, and you could see the host's hospitality in all sorts of little corners. She left us chocolate and a still-in-package first aide kit along with a nice note. It was great coming back to a clean place, that was essentially an apartment, after hiking. The bath water gets hot fast, the wifi runs fast, but there's still enough mountain atmosphere to take things slow." - Rachel
  • It was a wonderful rustic stay! The place gives you a feel of the mountains. Melanie was helpful and we had a comfortable stay. The place is close to all the main attractions.

  • Very scenic surroundings with a clean and quaint house. The house is definitely a getaway from the city. In the morning there was some beautiful sunrises through the mountains. The driveway is quite steep but we had no trouble in a 2WD car. Would stay again.

    Landon2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the privacy. Not far from anything. Clean and Melanie responded fast to any questions. Our kids loved Rusty the dog. Looking for a private get away in the mountains, this is a nice place to go.

    Lori2019-11-01T00:00:00Z

  • My husband and I loved staying at Melanie's place. It was super clean, kitchen has everything needed, and Rusty the dog/greeter was so incredibly sweet. He even came to tell us goodbye the morning we were leaving. We will definitely keep this place in mind for another visit.

    Ashley2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place was clean and quiet! The drive up the driveway was my only hiccup. It was very dark when we got there and I managed to get my Mini Cooper in a hole....and I stopped because I was stuck. I had to take a minute and check my nerves. I backed up a little, put the car in the lowest gear, I started and didn’t stop. If you have a little car, go slow, don’t stop and try to avoid the ruts. The place was spotless and comfortable. I loved listening to the sounds all around. My daughter swears they were the softest sheets she ever slept on. The water pressure in the shower was amazing. When we return to the area, I will definitely check to see if Melanie’s place is available, but I will drive the truck instead.

    Kristine2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nice place and easy to find, just know that the driveway is a bit steep as the host warned. Just go slow and you will be fine.

You might see some wildlife, as there is an abundance and the area land is not as developed as other towns. There are also two ponds on your property, however, they are NOT for fishing - they are for the ducks! Tube down the lazy creek or stroll through the vegetable garden, relax, sit back, take a load off, you have earned it. You deserve it! You are sure to find something that will be a memory to take home. "Calming, stress relieving, and peaceful." These are the words we hear time and time again to describe this beautiful well-maintained, gated and secluded property. You are invited to visit our little piece of heaven - you'll be glad you did!!! And feel free to bring your pet (with approval and a $50 fee). PET POLICY: We tend to approve only one dog (unless they are each under 20 pounds, we tend to keep all pets under 50 pounds (fee doubles if more than 50#) and because the land is shared with other rentals, we also do not allow certain breeds of dogs for the safety of other guests).
Quiet, peaceful, with wildlife and nature all around. The Bethel community is known for its neighborly charm and beautiful land.
  • I want to tell everyone about how amazing our stay was but, I’m concerned we will have to start booking years in advanced. Connie was so kind and the property has something for everyone. It’s close to so many places that you might want to visit but, honestly you could never leave the property and be just as happy if not more. Our 4 year old loved, loved, loved the place!!! We will be back and can’t wait.

    Lindsay2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a place to truly relax and grounds that will amaze you, this is the place. The petting zoo is fun and a joy, the baby goat will take your heart away! You can't ask for a more scenic place that promotes winding down!!

  • Our family had a great time here. The entire family had something to enjoy. My daughter's loved being able to feed and play with the animals. Also the different swings around the property kept them entertained for hours! My husband enjoyed fishing and the hot tub. I loved the hiking and neat statues around the property. The cabin itself had a lot of neat creative touches as well.

  • This cottage is truly a special find! Exactly what we were looking for to get away from the city. Highly recommend!

Enjoy a cozy king size bed, with a new 4" memory foam mattress topper, a garden tub, a shower built for two, with scenic views and a fireplace for chilly nights in beautiful Valle Crucis. A perfect place to get away from it all. Private bathroom. Private entrance. We have wifi but cell phone reception is not the best.
We are located in a very quiet, peaceful area. We are tucked in among the trees with a view of our family farm. Local hiking trails are close by. The Mast General Store is only a mile away as well as several local restaurants.
We live in the country across the road from our farm, where we raise beef cattle. There are not many neighbors. We have a few short hiking trails close by. Deer often graze outside in the pastures around our house. Occasionally we will see wild turkeys.
  • Very comfortable! Honeymoon style room with plenty if amenities. So clean too! Will stay again when in the area

  • Clean, private, and comfortable.

    Jason2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! It was a wonderful place in the mountains, and Dawn and her husband were so kind to us.

    Eavan2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to stay! Has everything you need in a single room. The jacuzzi and fireplace really make this place stand out from the other mountain getaways. Only 25 minutes from Beech and 40 from Sugar so a great location if you to enjoy either of those resorts. Also excellent recommendations. Over Yonder is just a mile away and has EXCELLENT food. Dawn was fine with us checking in late since we did the twilight session at Beech. Wanted for nothing while staying here.

    Harrison2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay for a quiet escape to the mountains! My husband and I stayed here for a birthday weekend. The location was perfect for a day spent in Boone and another day spent skiing at Beech Mountain. We especially enjoyed the fireplace!

    Kendra2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Need a little quiet hideaway after a long day of hiking or skiing? Dawn’s is the place!!! Good location, super clean, great recommendations- and just far enough off the beaten path that you feel that you got away from it all! Fireplace: check. Amazing hot tub: check! Huge bed: oh yeah.

    Tim2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This location went above and beyond our expectations! The location is perfectly between the ski resorts and Boone and surrounded by beautiful farm land in the mountains. The bed is huge and so comfortable! The fireplaces were so warm and romantic. The bath and shower amenities were a hit as well! The kitchenette and dishes were a lovely touch, as were all of the local tips and notes! This is by far our favorite Airbnb we've ever visited and I can not wait to stay here again!

Close to Boone/Appalachian State and Valle Crucis, Ward cottage sits on 100 acres with private hiking trails, firepit, and treehouse. Offering two living spaces - the main house, sleeps 6 & carriage house (above the garage), sleeps 2-3. Our home features decor from local artists and Southern Highland craftsmen as well as cable and WiFi - close to fishing, tubing, & hiking as well as galleries, The Mast Store & dining. Rest, relax, & rejuvenate in this peaceful setting.
The Ward Farm has been in our family for more than 10 generations. However, the house was built in 1993. The main house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (sleeps 6), large living room, dining room, well-stocked kitchen, laundry, and a two car garage on one level . The carriage house, located above the garage, has it's own entrance up a flight of stairs and includes a second kitchen, living room, sleeping area (sleeps 2), child's sleeping nook, and bathroom. The house is decorated with arts and crafts from the Southern Highland region from the past 100 years, as well as salvage from the original Georgian farmhouse that once sat on the farm. It is located just off scenic US-321 and has beautiful views out the many large front windows. Since it sits on 100 private acres, it hosts a variety of flora and fauna - feel free to pick the blackberries and raspberries if they are ripe.
Ward Cottage is in the rural Sugar Grove area, 10 miles outside of Boone, where the Watauga River runs through. It's close to Valle Crucis, Blowing Rock, ski slopes, and swimming holes. The country store sells gas, groceries, and fishing supplies.
  • The house is very clean and quiet we loved everything, thanks Jacqueline.!!

    Rosiana2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Best kept secret! 100 acres of joy all throughout. Hiking on the property and a treehouse for the kids which they enjoyed everyday, valley views to wake up to every morning. Also privacy and yet close to Boone . We have stayed at a lot of other places around the area in the past four year and Ward's Farm / Cottage is head and shoulders above the rest. Jackie is a superb host! I called about a issue I don't think my phone finished the first ring and Jackie was on the hook. We will be back soon!

    John2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We appreciate the gentle touch and tiny details such as the messages in the bottle. The place was sparkling clean. The extra blankets were thoroughly appreciated during the cold weather. The cottage is in a great location. The recommendation booklets and personalized books about what to do around the area were so helpful. We loved the positive and calm energy of the house. A perfect getaway location for anyone looking for a family home. We would love to come back in the summer.

    Luciana2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Highly highly recommend! The house was wonderful and decorated beautifully and nicely stocked with everything you can think of! You can’t beat the location and the property is beautiful! We spend one day just exploring the property. The mountain trails were fun and so was the tree house that overlooked the little creek. The owner is very accommodating and responds quickly. We will be going back in the future!

    Jessica2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is such a gem! The house was immaculate, well stocked, and centrally located to all the mountain activities we had planned. Our boys (ages 5 and 7) loved playing outside in the tree house, roasting s’mores around the fire pit, and climbing the mountain trail. We made some wonderful memories here and look forward to returning soon! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us, Jackie! ☺️

    Jenn2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What can I add that others haven’t already stated in their reviews?! So many things to do on the property and in the area. We never had trouble finding something to do. Our children and their children enjoyed exploring the property.....creek, woods, trails, tree house. We enjoyed the fire pit on our final evening.....cooked hot dogs and marshmallows, making memories to last a lifetime! We highly recommend Ward Cottage for your family getaway!!

    Kelli2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this spot and the camper for a little getaway weekend for our anniversary. This was our first time staying in an RV and Liz made it easy and comfortable. The weekend wad beautiful, and had combo weather so we got to try out the AC and the heat and both worked perfectly. We saw a herd of deer almost every night. The location was perfectly quiet for a getaway.

    Erica2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great choice for a unique vacation experience in the mountains. Never stayed in an RV before, was very fun for my girlfriend and I's trip to Boone. Highly recommend having a fire outside at night, listening to the wildlife on the mountain and looking at the stars was amazing. Liz is a great host, very quick with replying to messages. Recommend this to anybody!

    David2019-09-22T00:00:00Z

  • This mountain cottage is cozy and well decorated. The beds and furniture were very comfortable and provided for a good nights rest. The views from this mountain top cottage are expansive. It is at the top of a mountain so know the road up is steep and narrow. Due to some weather, we had a challenge with a down tree across the road while visiting and the owners response time and consideration for us where very good. We will definitely visit Kings Cove again.

    Traci2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Kings Cove! We enjoyed stunning views on the large deck and the open stylish living area. The space was clean and check in process smooth. Highly recommend!

  • The house was sparkling clean and the decor was so stylish! And the view is absolutely stunning! The owner was always quick to respond and check in was easy and hassle free. The drive is gravel and steep but we had SUVs and minivans that made it up fine without 4 wheel drive. Perfect stay!!

    Megan2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a place! Million dollar views from this cozy, clean, updated house. We're definitely coming back!

  • I already know that this review won’t do Heather’s place justice, but I’m going to give it my all. Going into our stay, I had read every review of this cabin, so I already expected great things. However, this beautiful cabin completely blew me away. It is impeccable. It’s clean, stylish, has breathtaking views of the mountains, and is the perfect retreat for a family getaway. My husband and I wanted a place for our family of 5 to go to where we could simply spend time together. In Heather’s cabin, we found just that. We played foosball, shuffleboard, roasted marshmallows, played umpteen games of monopoly and relaxed in the hot tub. My three year old kept herself completely entertained with the large collection of toys and puzzles. We cooked dinner in the amazing kitchen and were lucky enough to get a couple of inches of snow, which made for an afternoon of sledding and snow angels. The beds and linens were comfy and the entire space was perfectly cleaned. Heather and her crew are very organized and pay attention to every detail. She has seriously thought of everything! On our first night, we were having some trouble with the internet and we ran out of lighter fluid in the lighter. The next morning, she had one of her team members there and within minutes we were up and going again. I could seriously go on! If you are considering renting this cabin, do it!! You won’t regret it.

  • Beautiful home, can’t say enough about it. It is extremely clean, decorated with great taste, and amazing views.

  • Great stay- highly recommended!

    Colin2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures caught our eye, but upon arriving, the cabin took our breath away! I can't think of a better phrase than "Million Dollar View" to describe the breathtaking views from the cabin. Equally BEAUTIFUL AND SPECTACULAR is the inside of this home! This was my first stay in an Airbnb and my family's fourth time. It went beyond my expectation, and my family said it was the NICEST Airbnb they had ever stayed in. It was so luxurious but cozy, and I felt at home. The amenities were off the chart! It had everything a regular livable home needs. They even supplied a unique backpack for kids, sleds, and play area in the house for my three old granddaughter! The saying, "You can eat off the floor," holds true for this house. I walked around with white bottom slippers and not a spec of dirt. How a home does not have a spec of dust is beyond me, but I was able to witness that first hand. The giant windows that open up to the most spectacular views were spotless. The furniture in the living room had big leather couches and a rocker that was super comfortable and clean. They had an abundance of comfy blankets that smelled incredible. The beds had top-notch mattresses and were cozy. The kitchen came stocked with every appliance and more that you could imagine while the upstairs loft game room kept us entertained with lots of family fun and laughter. WIFI was superb and fast and the TVs had lots of channels. The DVDs they had made for a great movie night with popcorn! Oh, and I can't forget to mention the hot chocolate with marshmallow area they had for us! The hot tub was a lifesaver after a day of skiing. I'm not one for getting into a hot tub that I'm not familiar with, but this one was so clean I wanted to stay in it all night. The night sky from the hot tub was spectacular. I could go on and on about this beautiful home. There is not one thing I would change about it. Heather and I had a great conversation, and I can see why she is a Super Host! I felt like I was staying at a friend's house; she was so warm and inviting and made the stay one we will never forget. We will never stay anywhere else when we go back. Thank You Heather!

  • Amazing views, super nice amenities, everything you want for a mountain cabin experience.

    Jason2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin blew our expectations out of the water. It’s location is ideal for skiing around the multiple mountains in the area, and also for going in and out of Boone. Heather was extremely attentive and accommodating before and throughout the whole trip. The cabin made everyone feel at home. It was extremely clean, warm, and cozy. I recommend staying at this cabin for groups of all ages you will not regret the stay here. It is definitely one of the main reasons my group and I were able to create so many wonderful memories. We are counting down the day’s until we can return.

Shawneehaw Cottage is a newly rennovated Cottage originally constructed in 1941 by C.O. Matney, one of the founding members of the community. It offers pastoral views from two covered porches, a private yard, access to open fields and lots of quiet privacy in a unique community. This is an amazing property for stargazers, families, and anyone looking for a retreat from the grid but is also conveniently located about 3 miles from Banner Elk and Valle Crucis.
This House is located on rural farm land adjacent to state owned forest. It is in a unique community which was established in the late 1800's. This house was build by one of the founding members, C.O. Matney and his wife Rosa who originally lived in the center portion of the old barn located on this property. After years of disrepair this house was totally rennovated from the ground up. A portion of the original siding is visable in the front entry way and the original ceiling is visabie in the kitchen/dining area. The framing and much of the siding were wormy chestnut. During the rennovation, our french bulldog, Turtle claimed the house as his own, hence the name, Turtle House. This house is located on what has been a family farm on some level since before 1941, It was farmed by Mr. Matney for Tobacco, vegetables and hay. Mr. and Mrs. Bliss the current owners ran the farm on a smaller scale growing small fruit such as strawberries, and blueberries as well as hay. Currently, it has become more residential but we still mow hay which the neighbors feed to their catte and horses. While the barn still stands, the only animals living here are dogs, deer, and sometimes a 3 legged bear that wanders through.
The location of the Turtle House is unique. It is in an old established community which is great for biking, exploring, dogs and children. The Matney Liberty Church about a mile away was established in the 1800s and build by the local community. Its cemetary hosts many of the founding community members grave sites. The center portion of barn located behind the Turtle house was once the original home of C.O. Matney.

  • We enjoyed staying at Liz's place for a weekend of snowboarding! Great location close to Beech and Sugar. Off the beaten path but still close to everything. We really appreciated the quick responses! Thanks again!

  • Very cute place. Cozy and comfy.

  • Sweet and simple house in a beautiful mountain setting - the drive to and from town was gorgeous even in the winter! Liz was a great host with awesome and fast communication. She provided extra pillows and blankets. We stayed plenty warm in the house even though it was 12 degrees out. Our dog loved the yard, too!

  • This place was exactly as described. Great location and easy to find. Liz is a great host and we were so happy to be able to bring our dogs. Had a great time!

This is a brand new build available to book for your mountain getaway! There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a roof full of solar panels. The house has beautiful hardwood floors, concrete counters, subway tiles, stainless steel appliances, and modern furnishings. Guests will fall in love with the wrap around porch and the sound of the creek in the background. All of the energy used on site is generated cleanly and renewably. For EV owners, a 50amp outlet is located by the drive to charge up.
Our farmhouse is situated in peaceful Valle Crucis. The original Mast General Store and Valle Crucis Park are a five minute car ride away. Our house is on a dead end road with Dutch Creek in our backyard and Bear Paw State Park a few hundred yards away. This is a great location to be in close proximity to Banner Elk, Boone or Blowing Rock. Two great restaurants, Mast Farm Inn and Over Yonder are only miles away. If you have an interest in green building, if you are building a new home soon, or if you’re curious about solar energy in general, this is a place to learn about and experience it first hand. The basement apartment is rented by a professional permanent tenant, but it is often unoccupied and very quiet.
Peaceful neighborhood street with the sound of Dutch creek in the background.
  • This place was all we could have hoped for and more. We were totally in love with the house. Not only was it close to Boone and Linville, it was tucked away so we could have some peace and quiet when we weren't running around. I would absolutely stay in this place again if possible. Cassie was great about communicating with us and made us feel totally at home. 10/10

  • Definitely would recommend going during winter months to experience the beauty while it’s snowing! This place was great & well worth it. We would love to return!

  • We have visited the Farmhouse several times. We just love it here and always look forward to our next visit. ❤️

    Whitney2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful clean home. Loved the location with the creek running through. Added bonus of snow.

  • All I can say is WOW! This sweet house next to Dutch creek was even better than I imagined. My fiancé as soon as he walked in said he wished we could live there. Every morning waking up to the sounds of the brook made the whole day start off great. My family and I enjoyed staying here so much and would recommend staying here to anyone! Thank you Cassie for letting us stay in your beautiful home!

    Katie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay, off the beaten path. Looking forward to staying again in a little warmer weather.

    Matt2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot. Careful on the roads in the winter, they can get a bit dicey.

    Mark2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Solar Farmhouse! Fresh flowers awaiting our arrival, a helpful guidebook, games, open floorplan with gorgeous modern farmhouse flair....wonderful! One of the most relaxing places we've ever stayed. The sound of the creek was so soothing and we were lucky to get snow on our last morning there! Amazing family memories. And the kids loved the goats next door! Would love to stay again in the future.

Glamp in our new 23' camper in the heart of historic Valle Crucis. Full hookups; AC/heat, hot water, private patio, & fire pit. Come enjoy the mountains and tiny house living. We are 1 mile from the original Mast General, Valle Crucis Park, Watauga River, & hiking. We are 8 miles to Boone & Banner Elk. We are close to Rocky Knob Bike Park, Blowing Rock, & the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are only taking guests from May 1st-November 1st.
Location, location, location! We have an awesome view in the Valle and are walking distance to the Valle County Fair, which happens on the 3rd Saturday in October. Super cozy, and new camper with all that you need. We have an outdoor shower behind the camper with a privacy fence for those wanting a larger shower experience or to just shower under the stars. We have a fire pit in the grassy area next to the camper. The RV mattress has been upgraded to a comfortable memory-foam Pressure Relief Mattress. The comforter is organic, and bath towels are fast dry. The dinette area converts to a 2nd bed. Bedding for the 2nd bed will be in the camper if you request it. I clean with natural products and wash everything with scent-free detergent. We flush and treat the holding tank before each guest, and supply you with special, quick composting RV toilet paper. the paper breaks down well, so with our tank treatment, and a good tank flushing before you arrive, there is never a smelly tank. Leave a little water in the toilet bowl, as this also creates a seal for the tank. Have no fear, you won't feel like your living in an outhouse :) You will have strong Wifi, but because we are in a tiny mountain town, cellular service can be spotty. We suggest you come and unplug! If you have AT&T, I can add your number to my microcell so you can get phone calls with no problem. Our TV is a smart TV, not live TV or cable.
Historic Valle Crucis is quiet and peaceful. It is 8 miles to Banner Elk and 8 miles to Boone, but there is lots to do right here. Waterfalls to see, parks to visit, river floats and hikes are all within a mile or 2. Original Mast General Store is 2 miles away. We may be able to offer a canoe rental and run shuttle for you. Just ask.

  • The space looks like it walked right out of HGTV; which made it a nice retreat when the weather turned sour. It's an easy 15-min mountain drive from Boone. Definitely a good spot if you're coming to the area to explore!
