  • My second stay here and luckily Rosie was able to fit me in with less than 24 hours notice (massive thanks Rosie). I highly recommend a stay here...comfy, cosy and toasty warm with excellent facilities and some thoughtful touches, that are very much appreciated (milk, juice and bottled water). A really safe space for a single female traveller, with good off road parking and easy access to the main road. I will definitely stay again when I'm working in the area because it's fab and excellent value. Thanks Rosie

  • A home from home experience, where nothing is too much trouble. Amazing hosts, lovely people

    Julie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great English BnB. Prompt communication for the booking, friendly welcome when I got there, lovely room, spotless, and the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was lovely, Ken said I could have any variation on breakfast, but the full English was what I wanted anyway, fresh fruit and a variety of cereals, fresh coffee, everything I needed in a homely atmosphere. In fact, everything I would hope for at an English BnB. Thank you Ken and Sylvia!

    Tony2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ken & Sylvia were great hosts. The accommodation was very clean. Great value for money.

    Oliver2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A home from home. Very relaxing and Ken's food was excellent. A true lovely couple who couldn't of done any more to make you feel at home.

    Mark2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ken and Sylvia made us welcome from the moment we arrived. It felt like a home from home. We had a great breakfast. The beds were large and comfortable. Ken offered and gave us help with getting to the nearby wedding we attended. We also shared a drink and some life stories. Lovely!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is always a delight to stay at Lilycroft, the welcome is warm, the hosts are a delight and it is alway spotlessly clean.

    Phil2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of an Air B&B with Ken & Sylvia the most amazing hosts. The accommodation is all ‘upstairs’ comprising of 2 double bedrooms, with one room having the en suite in it (which is shared by both rooms). The beds are super comfy, everywhere scrupulously clean with the bathroom having a great shower (no bath). Lots of thoughtful touches: tea & coffee making facilities in the space between the 2 bedrooms; bottles of water; toiletries in the bathroom should one forget anything of one’s own. Evening meals were an option for a very nominal additional charge. The food was home cooked by Ken and on both evenings they ate with us, making us feel like we were part of the family. Amazing! This is one of the best AirB&B ever....one not to be missed!

  • My favourite air bnb experience so far. Everything was spot on with the lodge - really warm, lovely high quality furnishings, comfy and huge sofa, great kitchen and wonderful bed. Amazing views of countryside all around the living room and all mod cons. I could live there! Feels very private and the dogs were a joy too - really friendly and soft. Second to none hospitality - we were brought fresh farm eggs and had a lovely morning seeing lambs born just that morning and chatting to Chris about the farm. Paula was very quick with responding to any questions about the booking and check in was easy and smooth. We had a great walk to Hardwick Hall, Paula was so helpful with directions. Loads of walks and runs in the area and Hardwick Inn is a great pub for lunch and beers post walk. This is such a top spot for a weekend break, you can just stay in the lodge and cook or get a takeaway! A lovely family and a lovely spot - an experience that reminds you how great Airbnb is to have genuine experiences. Thank you!

    Natalie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely setting, perfect for a couple of days to chillout and relax. Will be back in summer when we can sit on the little deck with the fire pit

    Sinead2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little retreat! I went for a weekend away and a breather and couldn’t be more pleased. The cabin is immaculate and well presented, lovely and warm with a great little kitchen and soft furnishings. Even though it was a rainy weekend it was still beautiful to sit and relax, especially with the family dogs popping on to the deck to say hello and sunbathe (when the sun did come out). Paula was very welcoming but also we were able to relax and unwind. There was lots of walks around if that is your jam but great for a simple cuddle up and read weekend too. I definitely will be coming back for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Alex2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent positioning for walks and near by attractions. Fabulous cabin, restful and with everything you need for a quiet getaway. Very clean! Great hosts

    Sharon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay! Very clean and has everything you could need! Lovely hosts! Would definitely go again! Even the storm this weekend didn't affect our lovely stay!

    Cat2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Paula’s place the whole family were very helpful and welcoming. Dogs were lovely and got to feed the sheep along with meeting the other animals. A lovely mini escape for a weekend!

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • An extremely light, comfortable, modern wooden cabin on an elevated ridge of Magnesian limestone, overlooking open, rolling farmland. A great base for exploring the towns and stately homes of both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, as well as archaeological and geological sites. Plenty of nearby walks to observe the wildlife by day and to rekindle my interest in astronomy, whilst sitting outside at the front of the cabin to observe the night sky. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, all amenities absolutely spot on and it was so quiet and dark at night. Paula and Chris are indeed superhosts, being both friendly and knowledgeable. I would have no hesitation in recommending the cabin and will certainly be returning again sometime in the future.

The cottage is ideally situated in the centre of the village with shops, pubs and a post office all within easy walking distance. There are also fishing ponds and a park 500 metres from the cottage There are several good restaurants all within a 10 minute drive.
  • This cottage is a home from home. It's ideally placed for walking, and cycling the 5 pits trail, which is literally at the side of the cottage. Tibshelf is nicely placed giving access to lots of other areas to explore too. We had a shopping trip on the way home at the East Midlands designer outlet, which is a 10 minute drive away. We also had a trip to Bakewell, which was only 40 minutes away. You don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to, as there are plenty of trails to discover. A large co-op supermarket too to resupply if needed. Jennie gave us lots of good tips, and was there if we needed anything at all. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, which we used daily. Thanks for a great stay Jennie.

    Melanie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie was very helpful with all aspects of this booking. The house is very clean, modern and situated in a great spot for local shops and cycle routes. The kitchen was immaculate and had a warm feel about it and the wood burner added an extra touch at night. The kids loved the hot tub and was a great way to relax after a busy day out. I could write so many good things but please book and see for yourself. Will def look at dates to book again. Thank you

  • Great cottage! Myself, my husband and our toddler stayed for 3 nights for a winter break! Was great to be able to explore the Peak District from the cottage, we went for lovely walks, went to Chatsworth which was stunning all dressed up for Christmas, we ate at the local pubs which were recommended by Jennie! And we loved the hot tub! Warm and very comfortable cottage, comfy beds! Would def recommend x

The log burning stove, the hot tub, the underfloor heating, the comfy beds and beautifully decorated/furnished throughout makes this place hard to beat! Jennie was quick to respond to any questions we had and also provided great local info especially on the best local places to eat, takeaways and walks.

  • A group of four stayed at Bluebell cottage for 2 nights. It’s a lovely warm cottage and perfect for exploring the Derbyshire countryside. What was lovely were a few finishing touches ... a welcome basket and fresh flowers. The kitchen was well stocked too. The cottage was sparkling clean. Beds were really comfortable. Victoria popped in as we arrived to check everything was ok . After a long walk I appreciated a lovely hot bath before going out for a superb meal at the local pub which was a 2 minute walk away. We also we had another good meal at another pub which was a 7 minute taxi ride. Really easy to do. All in all we had a fantastic weekend and would thoroughly recommend this cottage to others.

I booked several week days in their Ravens wing to stay while working locally because I needed a place that would take in my dog as well. They were happy to have her and even played with her during the day while I was at work. They showed me a beautiful morning walk I took every day. The cottage has everything you need (home from home) and lovely and warm on the cold winter days. I would think the garden would be a great place to be in the summer, we may have to return. The Old Wine Cellar is a 4 bedroom apartment which forms part of the main farmhouse at Oakerthorpe Holiday Village.
The Old Wine Cellar is part of the main Farmhouse known as Amber Mill Farm and one of seven properties within Oakerthorpe Holiday Village. The Old Wine Cellar was originally used as a wine cellar and meat storage as the temperature without heating stays at a constant +1 ˚c - + 2˚c. The interior boasts of all original stone work features which are truly amazing. All rooms are below ground level and all have outside windows apart from one. The property was built circa 1790 and is grade 2 listed with mandatory single glazing however the Old Wine Cellar is still very warm and cosy. The Old Wine Cellar consists of a bespoke kitchen with tiled granite worktops and includes 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine with a living /dining room, 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite, twin room, single bedroom and a family bathroom and has the benefit of Freeview TV and Wi-fi. The Cellar has a standard occupancy of 7 however we are able to sleep 10 by adding additional put up beds in the largest bedrooms. The price is £20 per bed/per night. The dining table has seating for 8 with space for 2 extra folding chairs if needed. It boasts of underfloor heating keeping room temperature at a constant level seemingly setting it apart from the outside world in its own perfect bubble, to be noted that the ceiling height varies throughout the property and in some parts the doors are below standard height. The property has parking directly outside and is accessed via an external stone staircase. Grounds include a large playpark with playhouse, designated BBQ area, a floodlit sports area and a bespoke enclosed dog walking area along the banks of the River Amber, where the adjacent sluice gates and weir will be seen that served to provide water power to the neighbouring Cotton Mill circa 1790. Adjacent the property is a walled Orchard which has chickens, geese, ducks, bantams, quails, peacocks, sheep, pigs and meerkats is where Farmer Vic invites guests to help at feeding time and collect eggs from the chickens throughout the year except during the Christmas period. Oakerthorpe Holiday Village aims to provide a truly memorable stay for all its guests with top class accommodation, striving at all times to deliver the very best along with giving a unique and memorable experience however we would like to make you aware that approximately 150 metres from the property is a main railway line which for many, especially our younger visitors, enriches the village experience from which it must be said there is minimal sound pollution.
All the following attractions are within the local area. Theme parks and children's activities: Alton Towers, Gullivers Kingdom, Cable cars and amusements at Matlock Bath. National buildings and monuments: Crich Stand, Wingfield Manor, Chatsworth House, Riber Castle, Haddon Hall. For walking and cycling enthusiasts: High Peak Trail, Carsington Water, Derbyshire Dales. Other local attractions include: Crich tramway museum and the famous towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock
  • This is a great place to stay for a group. Outstanding features of the Old Wine Cellar are the curved, stone walls and Orchard. Would thoroughly recommend.

  • The wine cellar of the farmhouse we stayed in had been very stylishly renovated to suit accomodation purposes. It was very chic, homely and cosy. The mattresses and pillows on the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the amenities of the sports pitch and BBQ area. There was ample parking on site. Communication with Rachel prior to our stay was efficient and very welcoming.

  • This farm conversion is exceptionally stylish and has lots to offer families. The wildlife is a lovely added extra and Vic hosts a fantastic feed the animals visit which was thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults. The play park is nicely kitted out and the dads enjoyed the floodlit sports area. Within the accommodation there is everything you need for a lovely stay. We visited with family, six adults and four children, and there was plenty of space for all of us. The accommodation is within 15 minutes of Matlock which was a lovely day out, we also visited Bakewell which was around 30 minutes away. We will definitely return.

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Ford Farm. Sarah was a great host and the location is beautiful. If you want to spend a few days escaping from reality this is the perfect location to do so. Lots to do nearby and beautiful walks on your doorstep.

    Lisa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The location, with a nice outlook over the Ogston Reservoir, and the accommodation, turned out to be more or less perfect for a couple looking for a quiet break. The approach road is as described - narrow with numerous potholes - but the locals seem to be friendly and cautious. There is plenty of parking available when you get there. Two people will find the place very comfortable - three would need to be good friends, since access to the toilet and shower room is via the bedroom. Sarah was very friendly and efficient.

  • Great hospitality. Beautiful property, would definitely come back again for a longer stay. Our children loved the animals.

    Andrew2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Dairy is a lovely, clean and cosy cottage, perfect for our birthday celebration. We found the place easily and only wished the weather could have been better so that we could have explored the surrounds a bit. We would not hesitate to recommend the whole site to anyone who wants a peaceful and pleasant break (especially if you have children; we didn't, but wished we had some with us as the farm, playground and animals looked very exciting)

    Gill2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the Dairy. Highly recommend.

    Lauren2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great facilities for a young family. Nice and clean with all you need for a weekend away. Nice private garden and great to see the animals in the paddock also

    Lucy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cosy cottage exactly as described. A great place for a relaxing stay - the grounds and farm are perfectly suited for younger children. Would stay again.

    Alex2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very clean and has all the amenities you would expect including washing machine and a dishwasher. It is in a fantastic location on a farm, which the kids loved visiting the animals. It has a really good sized play area with swings and a playhouse. It was ideally situated close to Matlock which is what we needed for visiting Heights of Abraham and Gullivers Kingdom. The check in was nice and simple with keys left in the property and a nice touch of an complimentary BBQ box as the flying Scotsman was going past. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and may be back in future.

    David2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • A very beautiful and cosy cottage that was sparkling clean. Such lovely facilities for the children - even our older children loved the park and the farm tour with Vic. What a lovely friendly man. A few fantastic days, definitely coming back x

The Dairy is situated within half an hour’s drive from the Peak District National Park where you will find pretty villages and stunning countryside.. All on the ground floor. Living/dining room: With Freesat TV. Kitchen: With electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Bedroom: With super kingsize bed. Wet room: With shower, shower seat, grab rails, toilet and heated towel rail.. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Welcome pack and doggy extras. Enclosed garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car. Wheelchair access. No smoking or e-cigarettes.. Welcome to The Dairy, a wonderful haven to relax in. Usefully all on one level this cottage, which is an annex to the owner’s home, offers comfortable accommodation in fabulous surroundings. The living room with picture windows looks out onto the fields afar and if you’re lucky you will get to see the resident kestrels which nest here to have their young. The Dairy is also very well-equipped for pet owners, with an enclosed garden, doggy extras and even an on-site doggy day care and grooming facility (by arrangement with owner). Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the village of Brackenfield is close to Ogston Reservoir, a haven for birdwatchers and home of the Ogston Bird Club. Built by damming the River Amber in 1958, the reservoir is surrounded by woodlands, fields, scrub and grasslands, and even an orchard! When the water level drops in late summer and autumn, the reservoir attracts large numbers of wading birds but, in winter, Ogston is the best site nationally to watch rare species of gull - 14 different species have been recorded here. A chapel of ease was built at Brackenfield around 1500 but now lies in ruins, hidden by trees. A pilgrimage from the village to this chapel is held each year on Trinity Sunday. A new church was built in 1857 and is the site of one of Brackenfield’s well dressings. The Peak District National Park and Derbyshire is of course well-known for its natural beauty, and no visit here is complete without spending some time in the great outdoors. For walkers of all abilities, there are plenty of trails and walking routes to explore directly from your doorstep, while those who prefer to cycle are also in for a treat. Why not enjoy a great day out with a visit to the stunning Chatsworth House located near Bakewell in the Peak District. Chatsworth is steeped in history and this beautiful house and gardens are open to the public to explore. Nearby Matlock is a popular Peak District town, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, which have been attracting visitors to the area since the late 17th century when the original spa was developed. Set in the stunning wooded gorge of the River Derwent, Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and owl maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north is the market town of Bakewell and the famous Haddon Hall. The Dairy really is in the ideal location to enjoy all this wonderful area has to offer all year round. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile. Free WiFi

  • A true jewel for the area. This is an outstanding sleepover. Bibi and her son were very hospital hosts. If there is a word for more than clean, Bib's house is that. Extremely clean, in a stylish, nicely and well decorated flat The hosts are open-minded and international in outlook, which was also very welcome. Would come again. Bed-mattress is on the softer side, but I slept really well. There is also a desk in the room, if you need to work. House is not very far from city centre and from the hospital.

*Licenced by Ashfield District Council* 4 Bedroom house with living room and kitchen for comfort and living. Very close to the town centre and bus routes. Very typical northern terraced area. All basic kitchen equipment is provided, as is shampoo, shower gel etc too. We have made sure there's coffee, tea, milk and a selection of cereals too so you can arrive at any time day or night and know that you have at least the basics waiting for you.
This house is basic but comfortable. We've taken more time to ensure that its clean and well maintained than in the design. Its proximity to the town center and bus route means that transport is easy. The train station is also a short 5 min car ride from the house. There are 4 double beds however, the living area has only 2 double sofas and unfortunately no dining space. If hosting is something you are interested in, we may be able to offer something else, please get in touch and let us know. There is a TV, you can connect Netflix or Youtube etc account to this, however it is not currently connected to an aerial for live channels.
This is a typical northern terraced area, if you are looking for peaceful and serene this is not the place to say. It is however really close to all local amenities and bus routes and the neighbours, who may seem a little colourful, are friendly and helpful too.
  • Comfortable place, convenient location

  • Brilliant stay, clean, hospitable and flexible, and great for dogs. We had a 4 day event in Nottingham, and wanted to stay somewhere near enough, but out of Nottingham. We also had 2 dogs, who are great, but do need exercise. Everything was easy. We had great communication and the arrival and access were great. We had a couple of questions while there and received really fast and helpful answers, and great flexibility and service. The welcome was thoughtful, with a number of little touches that made us feel really well welcomed, and everything as described and working. The place was really clean, bright, quiet and location perfect for the dogs with a garden (and kitchen to sleep in), but also a park less than a couple of minutes away for regular walking and exercise. Thanks for a great stay. Would recommend.

  • A little difficult to find but this property is BEAUTIFUL. It's very homely and very warm - don't bring thick pyjamas! The hot tub is a dream, makes for a wonderful girls weekend. The property is based on a farm so bare that in mind, the cows were a little noisy but not too much of a disruption. Sam was a lovely host and helped us with all we needed! Our visit was during storm Dennis and there was some flooding locally, she helped us find a route that would be clear. Overall fantastic stay, would definitely return!

  • What a lovely little cottage. Comfy sofas, large kitchen and 2x wood burners. The conservatory area is lovely and cozy as well. We had a super weekend hiding from the rain playing board games, and when we did venture out the Greyhound was just a few mins walk away. Lovely stay!

  • The lodge is the perfect countryside escape, everything from the moment we arrived to when we left was brilliant. We loved being on the farm and took a walk to see all the animals every day, and the fireplace in the living room was wonderful for the cold wet day we had. Can't find any fault with our experience and we're already planning to come back!
