Places to stay in Rapid Bay
Our self contained bed and breakfast apartment has a lounge room/kitchenette, bedroom and spa/shower bathroom.
We are in a 10-15 minutes drive to the Kangaroo Island ferry; Deep Creek Conservation Park, with many hiking trails; beautiful beaches, kayaking, snorkeling, diving and fishing spots.
The locale is rural with a farm across the road. Our lane is a dead end and very quiet. The award winning Leonards Mill restaurant is one of our neighbours being about 200 metres away. Second Valley beach is four minutes drive away and there are other beaches close by. The town of Normanville is about 12 minutes away and has several cafes and restaurants, a further three minutes takes you to Yankalilla which has many antique and second hand shops. The district hosts many events, from music to classic cars. The sea offers a range of sports including snorkeling and fishing from several jetties and beaches.

Built in 1868, Blacksmith’s Cottage combines the charm of a simple stone cottage with the ease of modern comforts. The polished hardwood floors, slate flagstones, solid timber ceilings and antique claw foot bath create a historical feel, while the wood fire, ducted heating and cooling, and modern appliances ensure your stay will be comfortable.
Spend your time relaxing in the sunshine on the verandah, curled up by the woodfire, or pottering around the gorgeous cottage gardens. Alternatively, use Blacksmith’s Cottage as a base to easily explore all that the Fleurieu Peninsula has to offer: spectacular scenery and beaches; decadent food and wine; unique galleries and markets, as well as excellent bushwalking, fishing and diving adventures. Set in a quiet cul de sac only a few minutes’ drive from one of South Australia’s best beaches, this location ensures privacy and tranquillity even at the height of the tourist season. At Blacksmith’s Cottage, bedlinens and towels are provided, along with tea, coffee, milk and a few basic pantry items. Bring your own food to prepare in the well-equipped kitchen; dine out in nearby Yankalilla or Normanville; or try the magnificent offerings at the award-winning Leonards Mill restaurant just across the road. Please note: due to a steep-sided unfenced creek running through the grounds, we do not recommend this property for children or pets.
The award winning Leonard’s Mill restaurant is just across the road and you are just minutes from one of Australia’s best beaches.

    Second Valley, SA, Australia

Duckcottage is a five room stone settlers cottage built in 1853 on five acres of bushland at Second Valley. The property is now a refuge for wildlife so it is NOT suitable for dogs or cats. We call it 'duck' cottage because of the height of the doorways. It has been lovingly restored, and the habitat for birds and native animals has been established through revegetation. The property is secluded (there are no neighbours in sight) but it is a short drive to the beach.
The cottage is nestled into a five acre garden in the undulating hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula. It has been lovingly restored and is maintained by a local builder. It has been our summer cottage for 30 years and is full of memories for us. When we first bought the cottage the land around it was entirely bare, except for a row of pine trees along the roadside boundary and some ancient trees near the house which are wonderful for climbing or for supporting the hammock. Now the hillside is a flourishing bushland and the garden surrounding the cottage is full of birds and flowers. It is lush and sunny in the cooler months and shady but much dryer and less colourful in summer. Inside the cottage we have introduced the best of modern conveniences but kept them compatible with the era. Most recently we added air-conditioning to supplement the passive cooling of wide verandah and 'cool' stone floor and thick walls. Although this had been perfectly comfortable through the past 166 summers it is no longer enough for our extreme temperatures, so we have supplemented it with reverse cycle air-conditioning powered with solar panels. The cottage boasts a nicely appointed lounge, two bedrooms a bathroom and kitchen, We have chosen to have a minimum of electronic devices throughout- there are no screens or clocks but there is a CD player and a selection of books and games to enjoy in front of the huge open fire - or outside in the hammock. There are two living areas, the lounge room with its retro settee and open fire is warm in winter and cool in summer. The large country kitchen /dining room has up-to-date kitchen appliances as well as the original wood stove which adds warmth and nostalgia. (it no longer works as an oven). The small bedroom has two single beds, and the main bedroom has a queen sized bed. All have good quality linen, pillows and doonas (with cotton blankets for summer) Electric heating is provided to supplement the wood fires and there are fans in summer. Duck cottage is a private, restorative space which is a perfect 'get-away'. Mobile phone coverage is quite good ... so those who need screens can bring them.
The beach at Second Valley is a five minute drive from the cottage (or a 25 minute walk) It is a unique beach with impressive rock formations and a safe sandy cove which is excellent for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Fishing is allowed from the jetty. Our favorite body surfing beach Morgan’s Beach which a 20 minute drive to Cape Jervis. It is a long sandy beach at the foot of magnificent sand dunes. Rapid Bay beach is closer Than Morgan’s but not suitable for swimming. The fishing from the Rapid Bay jetty is said to be the best in the district, and there are impressive aboriginal caves at the north end of the beach. There are a number of parks and reserves for bush-walking and camping. The largest are the Deep Creek Conservation Park and the Taliska Silver Mine however we also enjoy walking in the Second Valley Forrest which is home to flocks of yellow tailed black cockatoos and wedge tailed eagles. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the vicinity. Leonard’s Mill is an easy walk from the cottage, it has a bar (and is our local pub) as well as the fine dining. Travel north to Normanville/Yankalilla for a range of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. You can also purchase high quality locally produced wines, cheeses, honeys and other produce. Groceries, fuel and fishing tackle are available from the Delamere General Store which is a ten minute drive south of the cottage. And the Kiosk at Second Valley Beach carries a more limited range of staples. One of our favorite things in this area is the night sky. On a moonless night the heavens are dazzling and on a moonlit night nothing can beat a walk up through the bush to the top of the hill or a walk along the beach.
  • What a delightful cottage. Charming and quaint , and conducive to the era of its time. Very much in harmony with the natural environment of the peninsula. Great location to all the region has to offer. Would highly recommend to others.

  • Margie's place is a beautiful historic cottage that is isolated enough to unwind but also close to local amenities/supermarkets/restaurants. The local area (Second Valley) is a great place to explore, that's if you can move beyond house's immediate surrounds, which are magnificent. Overall, it's a great place to explore, reconnect and relax - and the house has literally everything you could ever need! The perfect family weekend away just don't forget to duck!

  • Duck Cottage is a delight. The birdlife is lovely and the cottage is really sweet, renovated very tastefully, with all the modern conveniences. The house is immaculate and the bathroom is really gorgeous. The beds are very comfortable and the linen beautiful and comfortable too. It is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all and explore the beautiful area. We hope to stay again. Thanks Margie and Leon for a fantastic break.

Peaceful and charming, The Sanctuary at Deep Creek is a spacious rammed-earth home; perfect for a romantic escape or tranquil beach holiday for friends and family (including the family pet). Located on four acres – a combination of rambling gardens, native bush and open pasture – the house is situated within the stunning rugged scenery of the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, right on the edge of Deep Creek Conservation Park.
This unique open-plan 3-bedroom home comfortably sleeps 6, and includes a well-equipped kitchen, lounge and dining areas, and space to escape on the mezzanine floor. The thick earth walls and high roof help to maintain a comfortable temperature, but the building can also be cooled by the reverse cycle air-conditioning or you can curl up toasty-warm in front of the efficient wood-burning heater. The minute you step inside you will be struck by the relaxing nature of the house. There are plenty of comfortable places to sit and unwind along with a well-stocked movie and book library. Step outside into the rambling garden and spend time exploring its many hidden gems. Depending on the time of year you may come across a range of fruit (including figs, strawberries, apples, peaches, lemons and grapefruit) as well as a variety of herbs. Kangaroos and a wide range of birds are regular visitors to the grounds. The property has gorgeous rural and ocean views across to Kangaroo Island. The wrap-around verandahs provide ample places for a sheltered outdoor barbecue and evening meal.
The Fleurieu Peninsula region of South Australia is home to a wide range of attractions from premier food and wines to remote and rugged coastline. Accessible picnic areas and safe beaches make this area ideal for the family holiday whilst the more adventurous can enjoy excellent bushwalking, snorkelling/diving and fishing. The Sanctuary is located just minutes from Blowhole Creek Beach and the Heysen Trail as well as being adjacent to Deep Creek Conservation Park (we supply a parks pass for you to use during your visit!). You are only 20 minutes from Cape Jervis and the Kangaroo Island ferry. A day trip to the island is a great treat. Victor Harbor is only a 45 minute drive across the picturesque Range Road. Enjoy a day whale watching and exploring this part of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
  • Beautiful, homely and peaceful! We had an incredibly relaxing time at The Sanctuary. Bethany and Max were terrific hosts, the house was spotless when we first arrived and the assortment of tea's and jams was impressive! We honestly could not have asked for a more stress-free stay. The space has something for everyone, and would be perfect for children. We had plenty of visits from the friendly neighbourhood wildlife too!

  • We had the most amazing time staying at Beth and Max’s sanctuary. This is one of the best places I’ve stayed at. Beautifully rustic, incredible location, surrounded by wildlife...the serenity. We had everything we needed and more and really appreciated the thoughtful touches like seed for the birds and the delicious cookies! You will not regret staying here!!!

  • We can not fault this fabulous Christmas stay! Perfect in every way! We had the most incredible 4 days in deep creek. Hiking, swimming in pristine water, sitting with the kangaroos and birds in the afternoon drinking wine and curling up in the evening to watch a DVD. Bethany and max were such amazing hosts. They were full of amazing local tips for best beaches and even best spots for cherries :) We all agreed it was the best air Bnb we’d ever stayed in AND best Christmas we’d ever had! Thank you so much for a beautiful getaway!!

  • Sylvia's place is in a great spot. Sea and ferry views with a lot of bird life and kangaroos. She and her husband a lovely. Really appreciated the Wi-Fi.

  • Close to the port, only 10 minutes by car. The scenery is also very nice. If you plan to cook your own meals, it is recommended to buy the ingredients in advance, there is no supermarket nearby.

    Mr Li2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with Sylvia was particularly smooth from start to finish. I have to say that Sylvia's house is the most satisfactory for this trip to Australia. Originally I just wanted to find a place to stay before going to Kangaroo Island, but it was unexpectedly good. Not only can you see countless wild kangaroos, the stars at night are also extremely bright. Thanks to Sylvia for providing my favorite cookies

    Nannan2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sylvia is very hospitable, friendly and beautiful. The location of the house is very good, you can directly see the sunset at the seaside, and it is very close to the pier to Kangaroo Island. The house is fully equipped, clean and comfortable, everything is very good, next time I bring a friend, I have the opportunity to live here again.

It’s cozy, it’s located in a kind of a nook, it’s perfect. we were afraid that we were going to find it difficult to locate it as previously mentioned in one of the reviews, but NOT AT ALL, it’s right there. Hosts are very helpful too, they were there to answer to us every time we called.

  • This is a beautiful, very clean 2 bedroom 2 bath apt with kitchen, living room, free parking, and laundry facilities. It is right across the street from a beautiful beach that you can drive your car on like they do in Florida. The owner, Russell, is very approachable and will do his best to accommodate you. We liked this place a lot and highly recommend it.

Papershell Lodge is located at our property in historic Willunga. The Lodge looks out toward world class beaches and the McLaren Vale wine region, both only 5 minutes drive away. Papershell is a 9 acre almond orchard in conversion to a bio-diverse food forest and we encourage you to pick your own fruit & veg and say hello to our animals. The Lodge is a beautiful cedar-clad self-contained studio, built onto our homestead. It features a yoga studio downstairs, with the accommodation upstairs.
Wake up nestled in the tree tops to the sound of birds and enjoy breakfast on the balcony with views over the canopy of the orchard right through to Pt Willunga. In late July / early August the almond orchard is in full blossom and looks spectacular! We love to treat our guests with fresh produce from the garden, fresh eggs, our almonds, house-made muesli, baked treats and jams/relishes/pickles - whatever the season brings! The Sun Room on the ground floor offers an extensive collection of things to encourage you to switch off, disconnect and return balance to your life. Try our oils, yoga, reading from our library or playing chess and cards. Head down to The Green House and grab a plant to take home with you. We encourage all guests to plant a seedling or a hand full of seeds! Stroll around the property on any of our walking paths and take in the serenity. Sit in the swing and look up into the canopy of the Claret Ash.
Willunga is a small, regional town within the Mclaren Vale wine region. The town itself is full with character and has lots of cute art and craft shops to potter in, and great little cafes and produce stores. Every Saturday there is a wonderful farmers Market in the centre of the town. It is only a five minute drive from the spectacular mid-coast beaches, and surrounded by loads of nearby wineries.

  • The photos don’t even do it justice!! Jess’ place is absolutely stunning. I wish we were there for more than one night ;( cannot wait to come back.

    Leigh2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica's place is absolutely beautiful, great use space, very modern and incredible views from the balcony. The grounds are stunning, I absolutely loved exploring the orchard and vegetable garden. Jessica was a very accommodating host, clearly a lot of thought goes into the special touches. The home made bread and organic produce was delicious. Would definitely recommend for a short trip away.

    Carrie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place! Jessica was a great host :)

    Georgia2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend this as a whole experience. We were able to wander the farm and pick and eat fresh almonds and figs. A hot loaf of freshly baked bread was waiting on our arrival too! Beautiful place with a gorgeous view.

    Cia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a stunning view and comfortable retreat at Jessica's place. A real sense of escape from the world even though amidst the activity of a working farm. Can't wait to experience the Winter there - we have booked again!

    Amber2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place- the location will make you not want to leave. Great location, silence, in nature but easy to move around. The hosts are great, helpful and engaged. We will definitely return and recommend.

This beautifully appointed 3-bedroom beach villa is the best-located at South Shores, right by the beach-access boardwalk, the picturesque park and the swimming pool, yet with unusual privacy and amazing views over kangaroo-dotted paddocks to the sand dunes.... it is perfect for a family holiday or a romantic getaway. The light-filled living area offers peace and seclusion both indoors and out, yet the benefits of a resort style complex are moments away. You won't want to leave!
This beautifully appointed 3-bedroom beach villa is perfect for a family holiday or a romantic getaway. The Villa is situated within the popular gated South Shores resort and is approximately one hour's drive south of Adelaide. Nearby Normanville and Yankalilla offer cafes, restaurants, beauty spas, gift shops, golf, fishing, horse riding and more! South Shores is a gated holiday complex and offers so much for families to enjoy. There are two pools – a large pool with a surrounding deck and a smaller one, perfect for kiddies. You also have direct beach access via a private boardwalk. The gated community offers peace of mind to parents. Limited car speeds of 10 kilometres per hour allows children to enjoy their bikes and scooters on the large circular road that encompasses the complex. Other families ‘watch out’ for each other’s kids. The resort provides BBQ areas and kids' playgrounds, as well as a small bike track. There is ample parking for boats and grassed areas for cricket or footy. Villa 27 is a stand alone house and is the best-located within the complex - it sits along side the large grassed park, which is equipped with a basketball ring, swing set and sandpit, and is very close to the large pool and the private boardwalk to the beach. Even so, the living area is not in view of other villas - you can relax inside or on the deck in privacy. Over a glass of wine on the upstairs deck you can watch the kids play in the park in one direction, or gaze out over sheep and kangaroo-dotted paddocks to beautiful sand dunes in the other, feeling like you are the only person there. The Villa offers three large bedrooms. Downstairs features two bedrooms: one with a queen size bed and the other with 5 bunkbeds (1 x single/single, and 1 x single/double) - perfect for up to two families. There is a large bathroom and laundry (equipped with a washer and dryer) and the double garage is utilised as a rumpus room with couches and a TV. Upstairs, you'll find an open plan kitchen and lounge area that leads to a generous deck with full length folding doors. When open, they bring the outside in and give a sense openness and peace. The kitchen is perfect for those who enjoy cooking. Amongst other items, it’s equipped with: • a good quality oven and cook top • slow cooker and health grill • Expressi coffee machine (pods available from Aldi) and variety of herbs and spices • baking items and quality knives • variety of herbs and spices • there is also a second fridge in the garage for drinks. The large dining table easily seats eight adults and there's a kids table for little ones. The Webber means you can BBQ whilst chatting to friends as they sit at the adjacent outdoor setting. Off the lounge is a powder room. The master bedroom is very generous with a walk-through robe, large ensuite and balcony. This bedroom has plenty of room for a cot/ extra child's bed and a 'rollaway bed' is available for use. To save precious packing space in your car, we have two port-a-cots with linen, two high chairs and a baby gate for the top of the stairs. There are three TV's: one in the lounge, one in the garage/family room and one in the main bedroom. We offer our guests free unlimited Wi-Fi, and the Villa is also equipped with: • kid’s books and board games • some bikes and scooters (remember helmets) • pool toys, and buckets and spades • esky, esky bag, beach shade and beach chairs. The Villa has reverse cycle air conditioning for your comfort, as well extra blankets for the cold bods. Outside there is a hot/cold outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach or pool as well as an additional outdoor setting and relaxing swing chair on the downstairs patio. The local area provides additional things to do: • The Links Lady Bay golf course over the road • horse riding at neighbouring High Country Trails • a walk along the beach to Normanville, where you can grab breaky or a coffee • wander the local shops including the gift shops • head to the well-stocked Foodland for all your grocery needs. For that extra level of pamper, make sure you visit Siam Sea Change for a massage or the Links Lady Bay Day Spa. With a cleaner included in the rental fee, you just need to leave the Villa neat and let us worry about the rest. * Please note we have a minimum two night stay, and linen and towels are not provided unless by prior arrangement (additional charges apply). We hope you enjoy your stay at Villa 27 and aimed to provide everything we would like in a holiday house. We invite your feedback and suggestions.
  • Great place to stay to explore the area and McLaren Vale, but also a great place to hang out.

  • We loved staying at Hollie’s!!! The communication before the trip was excellent and Hollie was so accommodating when I forgot to book linen and organized it for us after our booking. The house is fantastic! It is set up so well- the downstairs rumpus room was a great place for our kids to play and have quiet time. We really appreciated how much equipment was there for us to use (which also meant we didn’t have to bring it from home) such as beach and pool gear, cricket, basketball etc. Upstairs was a fabulous place to relax and enjoy the views. The balcony overlooked the park which meant that we could watch our kids play from the comfort of the balcony or while we were cooking dinner on the bbq. The house had everything we needed and more, the surrounds were beautiful and the pool and beach were so close and spectacular. We’d love to stay again!

    Katherine2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great little get away with the family, pool was very clean walking distance to beach was amazing. We even drove 15 minutes from our place to second valley which has a beautiful beach location. The place catered for kids things like plates, cups etc which was lovely only worry was having a toddler go near those stairs would of been great if there was a baby gate you can hook up. There was a nice few of the animals near by.

    Mima2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great venue for families with good facilities including wifi! Lovely hosts and everything was comfortable and the holiday went smoothly with plenty of room and an ideal location looking out over the paddock. Very relaxing spot to stay.

    Grace2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super close to a “private” part of the beach that is only accessed from the South Shores complex or by walking down from the main beach. Really lovely furnishings and heaps of amenities (the kitchen had lots of utensils). Easy to check in and out.

    Jasmin2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gloriously situated house at the edge of the complex of modern luxury villas with fantastic facilities. Beautiful house with all the modern requirements you could desire. Very easy communication with the owners. Lovely beds and bedding. Multiple places to eat, both in and out, and to sit and enjoy the sun. Lovely touches including grocery supplies, and even a bottle of wine. Can't recommend highly enough.

    John2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing house and grounds associates with Southern Shores. The private boardwalk to the beach was unexpected and the grasses area with playground and pool for the kids was top shelf. The garage turned rumpus room was a perfect touch to seperate the kids and the extras such as bikes and play equipment was very much appreciated. Owners had superb communication and instruction for the house and were available with any last minute questions.... Can’t recommend highly enough! Planning the next stay already ! 👍🏼

  • Probably the best airbnb we ever had. The accommodation is very well equipped and located in a nice and quiet area. Will was not there to welcome us but her partner Peter did 😊 we had nice discussions about traveling that you can only have with an experienced traveller 😉 we even got a breakfast although it was not mentioned in airbnb. It really feels like home! Thank you again for having us 🙏

The house is really beautiful with artwork from all around the world, which fills the house with positive vibes. Highly recommended !!!

    Gagandeep2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Will and Peter. The Garden and balcony and flowers inside the house were a special tropical touch. We were on a working holiday and made use of the extra sitting room that was provided which allowed us to store our gear and use our laptop. Wi fi was reliable and we were able to have late checkin. We were not in holiday mode as we were on tour, but the closeness to the beach and wineries is very convenient and enticing to visit for a future holiday and take up Peter & Will on their offer for meals and tours for a fee. We were offered chicken soup which was a lovely offering. Peter & Will are flexible to be social or allow your own space. If you have looked at previous reviews, we were initially confused about previous reviews but can confirm that those reviews were about another property in Africa and do not reflect the experience we had at all. We had prompt, reliable replies and felt secure. Look forward to staying with Will & Peter in the future when we return to the region.

A newly constructed open plan, self contained living area with galley-kitchennette within + ensuite bathroom. The house is a high performance house with sustainable elements, natural light & fresh air throughout. It is a BYO linen place. Read further info for details of provisions.
This space is a studio space below another house. There is a carport where guests can park 1 car undercover. Yes there are also blinds & curtains inside. Some of the photos are prior to them being installed.
  • Relaxing and peaceful. Sofa bed is very comfy. Shower amazing. Lovely host. Fantastic dog. Would stay again. Thankyou.

  • We had a lovely weekend, the accommodation is well thought out, good use of space, spotlessly clean, everything you need. Also walking distance to the center of Normanville, we particularly liked this element. Fantastic view, great spot to have your coffee in the morning.

This private and comfortable studio space is perfectly set up for those who want to experience the country and seaside at the same time. Situated on 5 acres which is also set up for horses, Moana Views offers the chance for guests to stay whilst exploring the wonders this area has to offer. Or perhaps unwind and taste a sample of our local wines instead; then there's a short drive to Normanville and Carrickallinga Beach or maybe you can ride your own horse down instead, the choice is yours!
Recently renovated and modern, the studio room is well appointed with all things needed to be self contained. Moana Views is located close to local attractions such as The Shrine of Our Lady of Yankalilla, The Historical Museum, Heysen Trails, Ingalla Waterfalls, many local wineries, Second Valley, Cape Jervois - where you can take the Sealink Ferry over to Kangaroo Island and Deep Creek Conservation Park to name a few attractions.; All of which are accessible within a 30 minute drive. The studio room has been designed with comfort and warmth in mind and contains a kitchen, microwave, gas stove top, over head exhaust, tea and coffee provisions, appliances, cooking facilities (if you don't wish to partake of the local eateries in the area), a dining area, a lounge with TV on the wall. Then there's a step up into a spacious bedroom and sitting area, along with a separate walk in robe or wardrobe to choose from, a queen size comfy bed, separate bathroom with toilet and shower area, outdoor sitting area with BBQ facilities and an ironing board and iron. When you walk in, take a look at the magnificent terrazzo flooring that's been laid by my hubby Joe! To me it makes the studio room pop and Im super proud of it! You will find a very inquisitive horse on the property who loves a pat and a carrot! A couple of friendly dogs and a cat who will follow you around (so dont leave your door open- as they will just walk inside) as well as chooks and ducks whom I refer to as “my girls”. Free range fresh eggs are available for you to cook and are in your fridge in the studio room. There are 2 skylights situated on the ceiling in the bedroom which can provide guests with a chance to watch the rain or lighting from the comfort of their own warm bed. Guests have explained that they enjoyed the feeling of being “at one “ with Mother Nature, and have enjoyed the unique experience. NOTE: There is an eye mask available in the top drawer by the bed for people to use, or feel free to bring your own if you are light sensitive (as the skylights provide light into the room preventing guests from waking up in total blackness). Should you wish to bring your own horses (up to 2) I am available to book for guided trail riding tours in the area, including the beach if you’re game to ride through the township of Normanville. Float parking is available and your horses can be paddocked near you. Should you wish to bring your treasured fur baby (dog or cat), there is a private courtyard to accommodate a dog, preferably a smaller to medium sized dog, as large dogs may find the back yard too small and be tempted to run through the garden Im trying to establish. However, if there is a commitment to ensuring you supervise your dog at all times as well as ensure that it is on a leash and not left wondering around the property, a larger dog may be ok providing its the right temperament. Its probably best to ask me first before booking. Also to note is that the property is located on a small stretch of dirt road, and can unfortunately result in dusty wheels on your car. And because our property is a farm, the ground is undulating with steps leading up to the studio room, so its not suitable to people with ambulatory issues. Please note: NBN is not available ( hence there’s no access to the internet thanks to a weak signal in the rural area and whilst I provide complimentary fresh eggs from my free range “girls” for you in the fridge, I don’t provide breakfast provisions for a full breakfast. There is a toaster, cook top and a Baby Weber Q BBQ should you wish to toast/cook your own bacon and toast etc, so you will need to bring your own breakfast provisions or visit one of the lovely cafes in town instead 🐥🥓🍳🥐🥚 We look forward to sharing our beautiful and peaceful space with you here at Moana Views.
Both townships are beautiful and even historic in places, and offers an array of eateries that are decent, but inexpensive places to go.
  • This is an exceptional place for a couple to stay or for someone needing a peaceful retreat 🍃 Superb location that really does give you the best of feeling like you're in the country (trees, horses, kangaroos, birds etc) whilst being so close to the best beaches in SA! You can even see the ocean from the kitchen window! Everything here was stylish and immaculate with lovely 'added extras' such as fresh eggs from the chooks and milk in the fridge as well as plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies. Mr Darcy is a gorgeous horse that could often be seen out in the paddock through the large dining room windows. We felt completely welcome and at ease here and being pet-friendly was very much appreciated. Anthea was a superb and non-intrusive host who made us feel completely welcome and at ease. Can't wait to go back!

  • I can’t rave enough about Athenas place, it’s the second time myself, my girlfriend and fur ball have been. It’s always clean, beautiful, the views are beyond outstanding and breathtaking! The animals are the perfect bonus to the stay too. Everything we could possibly need was there and it definitely feels like a home away from home. Thank you for opening up your little slice of heaven for us!

  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay for 3 nights. Marcia and Mark were great hosts, loads of tips and general conversation. Beautiful place in the relaxing country. Very comfortable bed, Marcia cooks amazing breakfasts, as well as baked goods, yum! 2 nights we just bought our our food and beer and sat outside relaxing rather than going to restaurants cos it was so peaceful. Perfect location for investigating the region , close to beach, shops, winery's and brewery's. The 3 dogs are so friendly, you will get alot of attention from them, you also get to feed the 2 friendly horses too, which is a really nice experience especially if you have not had much time around horses. Tired when we got there, very relaxed when we left, highly recommend! Thank you Marcia and Mark!

My partner and I loved staying here, short and sweet stay but I would recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed :)

Relax in this quirky feeling family shack that's just a 2 minute walk from one of SA's most popular beach and fishing spots. Lots to see both above and bellow the water with great snorkeling and diving. The Shack has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 7. A great lounge area and Outdoor gazebo with BBQ. Off street parking. Friendly Magpies that drop in for a snack and lots of board games for both the young and old. Our Pot Belly, affectionately named Easter Island Man, will keep you toasty in the winter.
Each bedroom comes with the beds already made up and ready to jump in to. Towels are on hand for the shower. Additional pillows and blankets can be found in the Laundry Linen cupboard. The Lounge/Family room has a 40"TV and DVD player. There are lots of DVDs and books hiding behind the Main Bedroom door. There is Air conditioning throughout the Shack, the remote is on the lounge wall and operates all of the units. The kitchen has all the things you will need and then some. Stove, Microwave, Kettle, Toaster, Fridge, pots and pans and loads of crockery and cutlery. There is even a lightly stocked pantry for those times when you might have forgotten something. Coffee and tea are also available. The Breakfast bar provides seating overlooking the garden and outdoor area. The windows open to provide a servery straight out to the BBQ. The 6 burner gas BBQ will be set up and covered ready for your use. The outdoor gazebo lets you enjoy a chat around the fire in the winter and a spot to eat breakfast or lunch on the warmer summer days. There is an amazing pot belly in the lounge, affectionately called Easter Island Man and there is always wood on hand for the winter months. There is a Total Fire Ban from October to April, so he gets to hibernate during this time.
Second Valley is full of Heritage. There is a heritage walk that starts up at the iconic Leonards Mill, a great spot for a delicious locally sourced meal and wines. They also do great coffee and hot chocolates. The walk will take you all the way down Finnis Vale Drive to the sea and with land mark posts detailing the heritage buildings and lookouts along the way, pic up a map from the information sign by the Soldiers Memorial Hall just opposite the Mill. The Second Valley Beach has been voted one of the top 10 beaches in Australia. The waters are great for snorkeling and Leafy sea dragon spotting. Fishing is always a good pass time and a trek over the hills is a must BUT be mindful Second Valley is renown for cliff rescues and we wouldn't want see you become one of them featured on the Late News. The Jetty Store is located between you and the beach, they stock all those little things you might need, loads of ice creams and offer hot meals both to take away or enjoy with a beverage in their undercover area. Jaitjakawenga Reserve is located on the corner of Boat Haven drive and Recreation Drive and is a larger park which is great for kicking a footy in.
  • What a hidden gem! So rustic and beautifully presented. No shortage of entertainment for kids and adults! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Shack. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

    Dwayne2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! It was very clean and tidy (even the dirt outside was swept!). Well equipped with kitchen items, games, books, dvds etc. there is even a fish cleaning bench. The yard is fully fenced and it’s next to a playground so it’s great for kids. Communication, check in and check out were really easy and the hosts respond really quickly to messages. Highly recommend this place: we will definitely be back!

  • This venue is divine! The location is gorgeous! The magpies are so beautiful! I felt at home and relaxed and at peace! We had a great walk and a refreshing swim. I love the artistry of the shack and the hosts Andrew and Jo Anne are so lovely! I will definitely be returning for future stays! I truly didn't want to leave! ❤❤❤

    Sharon2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My Wife and I really enjoyed our stay at your very memorable accommodation at Second Valley. Various little information notes in various locations enabled us to comfortably manage all our requirements during our stay, with our greyhound, in a very dog friendly environment. Paddy loved being there. Your availability via text or telephone was very appreciated. Close access to the beach was a convenient bonus. We plan to visit again, but next time will be longer as leaving after such a short stay this time was somewhat emotional. Your collection of items associated with the sea was very much admired and enjoyed. We wish you every future success with your very unique Air BnB, and we are convinced and believe that future future guests will equally enjoy their stay. Philip & Heike

  • The Shack is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Second Valley is amazingly beautiful and the Shack is at the best location just a hip, step and jump to the beach. The house had everything we needed and more. Our kids did not want to leave! Andrew and JoAnne we're excellent hosts and we hope to be back in the future.

    Jane2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful quirky place to stay in the heart of Second Valley. Perfect location for the beach and very welcoming space to spend with our family including our dog. Very comfortable for all and many personal touches to ensure our stay was very special. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to stay in this picturesque environment. You will not be disappointed.

    Carolyn2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • 'The Shack' is in about as good a spot as it can be in Second Valley. Our favourite beach in SA, we've stayed in a few places but this is now my favourite with just a short walk to the cove. It's shady under the huge gums and teeming with birdlife. Inside is an absolute treat for young and old - my 5 year old played all the games and cuddled all the soft toys and chatted with the magpies. Being right next to the playground was handy during our pack up too! We appreciated all the thoughtful touches and wanted for nothing during our stay. JoAnne and Andrew were excellent communicator and check-in was a breeze. Highly recommend The Shack - we'll certainly be back. Thank you!

    Sally2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at The Shack with our two young boys. The location - just up from the beach and next door to a small park - could not have been better. In addition to time on the beach, we also enjoyed a wonderful cliff walk and kayaking (kayaks and SUPs available from the campsite just across the road). The Shack was spacious and beautifully restored, with a cool vintage vibe. The property was very well-equipped. The kitchen and pantry had everything you could need, and there were plenty of games, beach gear and even visiting magpies to feed, which kept the kids entertained. The house was spotlessly clean and it was lovely to arrive to fresh linen on the beds. Communications with the owners were excellent and they were very accommodating and considerate. We hope to visit again and would highly recommend The Shack!

Relax on your own deck and enjoy the gardens. Brighton hut is light, bright & full of character. Enjoy a short walk to the beautiful Middleton Beach or perhaps a game of tennis on our full sized court. Our communal Village Hall and Village Green is a favourite of all guests, open the bi-fold door to create an 'outside in' in the warmer months or sit in front of the combustion heater and enjoy the cosy warmth in the winter.
Relax in your lovely beach hut or play tourist around the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula.

Two restored self-catering cottages arranged as five independent suites. Opposite Leonards Mill and close to beautiful Second Valley beach.
Historic cottages [Circa 1852] with comfortable fitout.
A walk around the Randalsea historic hamlet is interesting.
  • The cottage was very comfortable and Second Valley is a region that worth to be known. The beach is beautiful, we were close to the Heysen trail and Deep Creek park that are hikers paradise. From the cottage, I did a run in the Second Valley forest (access via forest road) at sunset, and saw hundreds of Kangaroos and deers very close. I highly recommend.

  • A gorgeous spot, with a cottage that can best be described as quaint, quirky and charming. We stayed for five nights, it was perfect. Initially we worried that it would be a big far from the beach, but I can’t imagine a better location. For the price, it was incredibly comfortable and well located. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

  • Lady Bay Shack was a delightful place to holiday as a family and had everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The beach is so close and it was easy to grab a towel, beach gear and the pooch and head to the shore for a paddle or some fishing. Lady Bay was just close enough to Normanville if you needed shops and it felt central to all the other sights and locations on the coast which was also a bonus for a day out exploring. 5 star location!

  • We are very grateful to have Kate hosting us. She is very friendly and had been very responsive to our questions. It is a great place to spend time with family and friends. It was a very late decision to have a getaway. We thought it was impossible to find a nice place which allows dog. We were really lucky to find this place as it is way better than what we expected from photos. Highly recommended if you are looking for a dog/kid friendly place to stay.

  • This place has everything you would want and more. We were really looking forward relaxing in the gorgeous pool during our stay, but were unlucky with the weather. However the place has such breathtaking views and so much to do, that you have a great time even when the weather is not on your side. We had the most relaxing romantic time chilling on the large verandah, enjoying the views with some wine, bbq and our own pizza. We so had fun with the kids watching movies in the cinema room. The place has been renovated really beautifully, lux and modern styling and finishes, make it feel like a resort. The hosts are wonderful, are really quick to respond and always ready to help with any issues. Highly recommend. One of our favourite stays in SA so far.

Situated on a gorgeous 40 acre property with a creek running through it, there is plenty of bird life and lots of kangaroos who come to visit.
The Fleurieu Penninsula is a gorgeous stretch of coastline. There are many beautiful little towns with great places to eat, interesting shops and the natural beauty of the beaches. Great surf and the wonder of watching the whales as they come in close to shore during the winter months.
  • Paradiso cottage is located in a beautiful secluded location. The cottage was lovely, with lots of thoughtful touches. Jayde’s communication and hospitality was excellent. We hope to come again one day

  • The photos just don’t do this cottage justice!! Such a stunning little house on a gorgeous property which is styled perfectly and has everything you need. Jayde adds some really nice little touches which makes it even more welcoming ☺️ Great communication, check in was extremely easy and we were kindly granted a later check out! Do recommend!

  • Excellent location close to local towns but also away on its own in a beautiful quiet location.

  • Just a lovely getaway. While the location is great and central to lots of fun activities, you can have just as great a time staying on the property and soaking up the gorgeous views. Cabin is comfy, cosy, and clean.

  • If you like to be all by yourself surrounded by beautiful nature and animals this is the place. The two alpacas visited us every morning and every night we saw kangaroos and rabbits. The cottage is gorgeous with old niche interior design with a beautiful outdoor area. It takes you back to how the “shack life” really should be. We will definitely be back :)

  • Paradiso Cottage was the perfect spot for rest and refreshment. Being able to walk in farm land and within 15 minutes walk on the beautiful beaches of Middleton, Goolwa and Port Elliot was a treat. The cottage was beautifully fitted out and it was a lovely place to relax.
