Burleigh Street is a unique part of town in Waterville. Large old houses on a quiet street along the Messalonskee stream. Many of the houses date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Mr. Burleigh built our house in 1915. He and his family lived downstairs and his favorite aunt lived upstairs. Originally a two family house.
  • Thank you for opening up your home to my family and two dogs. It was a highlight of our trip. Hopefully we will be back next year.

  • Great historical place to stay in Waterville, Maine. Dana's house has so many lovely little touches- I may have indulged more than I should have in the chocolates dish- sorry Dana! Good communication leading up to our arrival, and we felt very welcome when greeted at the front door.

  • This was a spectacular hidden little gem. Words and pictures, don't even begin to say or show just how wonderful it was there. My husband and I were beyond happy with our stay there. It was such a wonderful surprise to get the beautiful flowers for our anniversary. We loved the sunrises on both days that we were there and the beauty of nature and it's sounds. There was still some wonderful foliage to see. We definitely want to go back again and hopefully bring another couple with us. And we definitely highly recommend this place to any and everyone, especially if you are looking for a wonderful place for a getaway.

    Kim2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Access to lake and the view is awesome. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace. Stay was made comfortable with the heater.

    Dilip2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home by the water! Michael and Karen are outstanding hosts! They are very thoughtful - my husband and I booked for the weekend for a little getaway and they left us a bottle of Prosecco, which we appreciated. In addition, since the water is not potable, they had left us a gallon of fresh water. The cabin itself is beautiful, very well decorated and cozy. Perfect for relaxing and taking time away from the noise of everyday city life. My husband and I love birds, and it was wonderful to find a pair of binoculars since we forgot ours at home. We got to see a couple of loons and a bald eagle! We had a wonderful time and strongly recommend Michael and Karen’s cabin!

Enjoy the splendid views over Pattee Pond.... Our cabin is situated on a quiet dirt road and we feel like it’s more relaxing and homey than a hotel stay... If you’re looking for that cozy, back-to-nature space to unwind, then this is the place to be!
While we are located in a woodsy lakefront setting, it’s only a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants and shops and parks
  • Great cozy cottage! Clean and ready to go with everything you need. Great views of the pond. Very relaxing place to be.

  • A rustic camp right on a pond facing east. Neighbors are close by and very nice. We enjoyed an a most amazing moonrise right from the deck looking across the pond. Gorgeous view. Mike and Paula responded quickly and were a delight to work with.

  • Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Waterville or want to be out on the lake!

    Tim2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mike & Paula's place could not have exceeded my expectations more! It was cozy, immaculately clean, a beautiful home, had wonderful amenities and spectacular views!! The water pressure was impressively strong for the house being RIGHT on the water, the water also got nice and hot for a shower. The bed was quite comfortable (I slept in the king in the bottom floor). The house has three large decks, each with a nice secure railing and a great view of the sunset and sunrise over the pond. The pond was frozen over and made for a fun place to walk around straight off the back of the property. In the warmer months that access straight into the water would be unbeatable! Paula and Mike left a binder on the kitchen table with some excellent recommendations - I took their suggestion for Mainely Brews, a short drive away, and the food was superb. I'd drive the hour north from my house just to eat there in the future. The home was very well-appointed with extra blankets, plenty of towels, a pair of dog bowls and a pair of dog beds for furry companions, salt, pepper, coffee, plenty of cookware and eating ware. Perhaps most of all, I was very impressed with how clean the house is. Even the gas stove was in pristine order! Paula was very timely, friendly, and helpful in our communications, and the long road in was well-maintained and easily passable even with fairly fresh snow on the ground. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Mike & Paula's place with my dog, and look forward to returning in seasons and years to come!

    Devon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Paula's place was cozy. They were quick to respond and it was very easy to find. It was very clean and we enjoyed our short overnight visit. We hope to visit again this Summer.

Guest suite with private bath in classic Maine farmhouse. Spacious loft room with your own fireplace to take off the chill. Great for weekend skiers or adventure enthusiasts looking for a home base for exploring Western Maine. In the summer months our property is a working farm and you are welcome to explore all that we have going on here! You have to walk through a shared kitchen and dining room to reach your suite.
This room is on the second floor of an older updated farmhouse. Expect classic features like low ceilings and narrow stairwells but charming details such as porcelain bathroom features and an original slate sink in our kitchen. The bathroom is private for your use during your stay and is located on the 1st floor, right at the bottom of the stairs leading to the loft. The room also includes a television. Guests are welcome to bring their own gaming or streaming devices or login to their own account on our guest Roku.
We are one mile from downtown Farmington, a quaint town in Western Maine home to many independant shops, artisan galleries, and a local college. We have a great local ski slope, Titcomb Mountain, which is a great community ski area and perfect for learing to ski. About 40 minutes North is Sugarloaf ski resort as well as lots of hiking and biking trails.
  • Nice, quiet farmhouse. The room is very spacious and comfortable. Nice place to get away.

    David2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Erica’s place for a few nights and had a very pleasant stay. Plenty of privacy as the house is basically split into two parts. I used the house as a base for skiing Sunday River/Sugarloaf and for some snowmobiling. The TV was nice to have to sit back and enjoy a movie at the end of a long day. Kitchen and dining room always available for coffee/tea and for cooking your own food if needed. Erica was extremely hospitable and nice to talk to. Can’t beat the friendly cat as well, who is always looking for a warm body to cuddle with. Great spot!

    Mike2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Super great stay perfectly located around the mountains and farming spots with a quaint down town. Their home was so adorable. Entire loft to yourself. They go by a pick up after yourself policy that I wish I knew before hand. Aside from that it was peaceful and beautiful and their amenities were fabulous. Amazing book collection and games

    Miranda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Great hosts! Really good-hearted people :) Erica and Dave went out of their way to help me- even coming to my friend’s rescue to tow him out of a snow bank when he was stuck!

    Chelsea2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a great place to stay and your thoughtfulness and kindness! We had a really nice time skiing at Titcomb Mountain AND appreciate you shoveling the 6-7 inches of snow powdah to our truck! Kevin, Rena and Addison

Welcome to Maine and lake life! This cozy little cabin is a stones throw away from the waters edge. Enjoy the deck and dock as you watch the loons, bald eagles and other local wildlife. Our guests have access to our kayaks and canoe if you want to get off the shore and out into the water. The pond is great for swimming and perfect for small children. Take a little time for yourself and enjoy the peace and serenity of the pond. Check out our larger main Lodge https://abnb.me/WG8ppGX6vY
About an hour and a half from Portland and Acadia National Park, this tiny cabin puts you close enough to it all at an extremely reasonable price point! Where else can you get enough room to sleep 4-6 people (6 if you have kids) people that is lake front with access to kayaks, canoe, BBQ and a fire pit at this price?!? Enjoy the serenity of the waters edge where you will hear the welcoming call of your neighbors- the loons and Bald Eagles.
Easy access to nearby Pittsfield, Skowhegan or Newport for shopping and dining. Access to Interstate 95 is just minutes away.
  • I would give 10 stars. Jamie and Sam, the cozy cabin and it’s location far exceeded my expectations. Sam and Jamie are very friendly, helpful and generous (!!!), yet respected privacy and space. I couldn’t recommend this sweet, rustic cabin and hosts more.

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cabin with everything and more!!! Beautiful views of the lake peaceful atmosphere and a warm cabin for those chili October nights. Sam was absolutely great a text away but we got all the privacy we could ask for even though the main house is a few steps away. The cabin was spotless, comfy and plenty of room. We were able to cook our dinner in the BBQ and our breakfast in the little oven. A good size refrigerator in the cabin made it a lot easier then using a cooler. I was very hesitant of the outside shower for those chili October nights but it was the best thing ever!!! We did not use the kayaks but Sam made sure we knew there were available. We will definitely return during the summer so we can make a better use of the lake. Thank you for having us.

    Anastasia2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Sam’s place. We spent most of our trip at Acadia, but the cabin is nearby other nature sights, plus there were kayaks we could have used. The heater kept us warm when we were worried we might get cold. Sam and Jamie were kind and communicative and we couldn’t have asked for more responsive and attentive hosts! This cabin felt spacious despite the fact that we had four people there, and it’s a great value. We would certainly return.

    Ashley2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sam's place was exactly as described but even more comfortable and enjoyable than I expected!

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. Please make sure you understand how to use the compostable toilet- we didn’t have that 100% aright. Otherwise, lovely place!

  • Really great stay , very private, and a very cute cabin with a beautiful view !

    Kidder2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely time. Only regret was that we were so busy with our plans, we didn’t plan out more time to actually hang out at the cabin and go canoeing. Next time!

    Sophia2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sam was extremely responsive to all of my questions. The directions were very clear and we had no problem finding the cabin. It was very rustic and quaint- the perfect place to spend some time away from life's craziness and unwind!

Private camp, that feels like a tree house surrounded by old growth pines. This lakeside cottage on Great Pond has two fun bunk rooms and a master with stunning lake views. The cabin has an open floor plan with fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, reading nooks, large porch, grill, hammocks, dock, and mooring. It is a charming, cozy cottage with antiques and skylights, perfect for reading and lake sports. The cabin is unhooked, no phone, TV, or internet (you can bring your own-there is reception).
The woods are filled with wild flowers and life (loons, bald eagle, moose...).
Belgrade Lakes is cute maine town tucked between two lakes
  • We had such a wonderful, relaxing vacation staying at Nina's place! The view is spectacular, right on the water, and the site is within driving distance to quite a few hiking trails with stunning views (we did French Mountain, Round Top Mountain, and "The" mountain trails) We took a canoe trip out to Oak island and paddled right past loons. Another day, an eagle flew past and roosted in the tallest pine at the point of the cove for a while. My oldest son was transfixed, and kayaked right out to the bottom of the tree to have a closer look. I swear the eagle was looking right back at him. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed for cozy dinners in (we brought the week's worth of groceries with us, no large store nearby, though Day's store in town has almost anything you need in a pinch) and we had family card games by the woodstove every evening. I was able to read an entire book and catch a nap or two, we found time to do some watercolor paintings, and just have really high quality screen-free time together. The bunk rooms were practically custom made for our two boys and two girls The entire family was over the moon about the entire experience. Highly recommend for a nice family getaway!!!

    Beth2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a stunning week at this cabin. Beautiful surroundings, great place to unplug and reconnect with God and nature

    Julie2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nina's lake house is just simply wonderful. Her house has lots of loons decorations from the lampshades and tiny models of loons to full on beautiful pictures of loons. You can also clearly hear the loons at night while in bed with a full view of the lake and sun roof that gives you a look at the pines. Nina was extremely sweet from the very beginning, she called us to make sure we got in properly and suggested a few things that we can do around the area. There were lots of kayaks and paddle boards etc which we were free to use. We got lost in the lake on the day of checkout but Nina and her help were extremely nice and understanding about the whole business. I would highly recommend!!

  • This was our 3rd stay at this cottage on Echo Cove and whether its been just the two of us or we've had a few of our children with us, we relax the minute we walk in. Its a beautiful quiet setting right on the lake and the cottage itself has such welcoming, comfortable public spaces. Naps in the window seats can't be beat! Its really a perfect spot to come recharge your batteries.

  • The cabin is a beautiful place to stay. The nature around is amazing. If you stay here during warmer weather, I recommend looking up at the sky as it is beyond beautiful. You are able to see all the stars. Living in the city has made me appreciated the little moments of nature that I experience and this is definitely one that will stick! Larry is an excellent host, he made sure we felt welcomed. He was always a quick text away. If we ever come back we will be staying here again! Thank you so much, one last time!

    Julissa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

  • We spent a very nice weekend at Larrys' place after an afternoon of snowshoeing at Sugarloaf (about 1h drive). Larry was very welcoming and very helpful. The place is really cute and cozy. I would definitely recommend to stay there. Best,

  • Absolutely the place to stay in Skowhegan! This home is unique yet cozy. I would recommend staying at Larry's cabin to anyone I know!

    Virene2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a weekend escape, genuine hospitality, and beautiful views, then Larry's place in the place for you. My husband and I needed a break from the chaos of the city, and we were able to hang at this awesome cabin for a low key weekend in Skowhegan, Maine. It's rare (or at least in my experience) that you get to meet the person who owns the place you'e staying in, but Larry made sure to check in on us! We spent an hour talking with him and learned much about the area. Additionally, we were able to bring our black lab, Crosby, who probably loved the space more than we did. Thank you, Larry, for a much needed break from reality. We'll definitely be back this summer!

We are located in the central Maine, with a view that brings peace to the heart, Haven Hill Cabins is a pet loving environment. I know you will have a memorable stay here at Haven Hill Cabins.
The cabins are optimal for area families who need extra sleeping accommodations. Additionally, this four season vacation destination has a stunning, year 'round sunrise view with a bonus autumn leaf peeping view and Snowmobilers/Hikers will enjoy the convenience to the area ITS trails while Fishermen/Kayaking enthusiasts are only minutes away from water!
As just a quirky side note: "Serenity" should be our middle name!
  • Randell and Pamela’s place was extremely clean and comfortable. Great little getaway, and about an hour to both Sunday River and Sugarloaf.

    Amy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Randell and Pamela’s place was amazing. This cabin is so cute & was perfect for the four of us to sleep after a long day of skiing! It was right in the middle of sugarloaf and sunday river so it made for the best of both worlds. The photos do not do this place justice- it is SUCH a awesome little cabin with plenty of space for everything even with its size! The sunrise view in the morning was also amazing. While we stayed, we got some awesome local tips from the hosts & found a cool brewery in the woods for some apres ski pizza & beer with live music and good people. The price of this place was GREAT & it had everything we needed & more! Would definitely come back & would recommend to stay!

  • Randell and Pamela's place is great! Cozy and comfortable and with a great view in the morning. It is a wonderful place in the winter and would also be a wonderful place in the summer! We were headed to northern Maine and it was a great halfway point for us that was easy to get to and not too far off the main drag.

    Emma2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great quiet getaway - perfect for a weekend away from Portland!

    Claire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Randell’s and Pamela’s cabin. The cabin is stylish, has all the amenities you might need and has great views. It’s very serene and peaceful. Highly recommended.

  • Such a gorgeous place! Exactly what we needed for a quiet weekend getaway. Definitely would book again!

    Kim2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • A great place if you want to get further away than most for the "serenity" that is the goal of this property. Pet friendly is a plus for those seeking this feature along with a thoughtfully appointed standalone cabin with everything one might need. Don't forget to enjoy the sunrise from the perfect private view.

Enjoy the peace and beauty of a Maine lake in an updated log cabin. East Pond in Oakland is a ten minute drive from I 95. There is a single and a double kayak available for your use. Both the deck and lakeside pad, as well as the kitchen table each have seating for six. The half acre lot has been ecoscaped earn the LakeSmart rating from the Seven Lakes Association.
Though neighbors are not far away, the wooded lot gives a sense of privacy. The lake side area is an ideal space to enjoy the water. Hummingbirds, woodpeckers join etc. flock to bird feeders as ospreys and bald eagle soar over the lake. East Pond is known locally as a fishing lake and the rocks near my shore are prime fishing structure.
  • Donna’s cabin was the perfect place for my partner and I to stay for a weekend visiting the nearby college Colby (less than a 20 min drive!). The views of the place are lovely, situated on the pond. It was extremely peaceful to wake up and step outside to breathe in the crisp, autumn, Maine air. The home was perfect for us, for our 2 day stay. We could certainly come back again, perhaps even with additional guests, since the second bedroom had 3 beds in it. Thanks, Donna!

    Julia2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Griffin’s Roost for an anniversary weekend away and it was perfect! Donna was a great host, along with her co host Mark. Check in was very easy and they were accommodating to our arrival time/responsive to questions. There was plenty of firewood for fires down by the water and the view was stunning with lots of the fall colors. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you’ll need for cooking in. Lots of trails for possible hiking near by. We did the Round Top Trail with our puppy which was a nice easy hike. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

    Taylor2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Donna’s home was amazing for our family. Our son and dog loved playing in the lake and we loved the secluded feel of the home. Would go back again and again.

    Jesse2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway. Mark was very responsive and helpful. The location was beautiful. Kayaking, fishing, swimming or just sitting out by the fire pit at night - a great getaway with my family that we will cherish. No better way to start the day than sipping coffee down by the water watching a mother loon feed her baby out on the water. Thank you Donna & Mark!

    Susan2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin with lots of character right on the lake only 15 minutes from New England Music Camp (NEMC), so it’s an *ideal* location for camp drop off/pick up weekends! *Very* responsive, helpful, friendly hosts. There were 2 kayaks right out the back door by the water, ready to go—life jackets and paddles as well (kept inside). The wifi connection, cooking utensils, fridge, microwave, stove, and dishwasher were awesome. Big TV in the living room—our son LOVED that it had Netflix. He binge-watched the entire Season 3 of Stranger things in 2 days! Oh and ladies, the master bath isn’t “fancy,” BUT the shower is a good size and it has a built-in SHOWER BENCH at the end!! (So, plenty of room for all of our products and a spot to prop up our legs while shaving!). Yay! :) Thx for letting us stay at your home Mark and Donna. Really appreciate your hospitality.

    Sally2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Griffins Roost on East Pond is an oasis. Situated near a boys camp, it was private, and the loons called out daily. We had so much fun in the kayaks! Having the one and a half baths was a plus and the kitchen was perfect for cooking lobsters and late breakfasts.

    Sarah Z.2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We came to stay for four days while our boys attended a local basketball camp, and we had a wonderful time. The home feels very much like a camp - with a beautiful, updated kitchen complete with modern appliances - and the views of the water were so pretty. There were plenty of beds for sleeping, and the two bathrooms were a definite plus for our family of five. We loved that we had waterfront access and yet were still less than ten minutes from the downtown area. And despite the fact that neighbors were nearby, we never heard them - we did, however, hear the loons each morning and evening! Overall, it’s a beautiful spot at an incredible price, and both Donna and Mark were wonderful hosts. We’re looking forward to returning again!

    Michelle2019-07-11T00:00:00Z

Classic Maine lake front cottage. Feet from the shore, with boating, swimming and fishing. Rustic living space with beautiful wood wall to wall (ceiling too) with a more modern bathroom, make this a great vacation spot. The cottage is a cozy size with two small bedrooms, open concept living space and two enclosed porches. One of the porches faces the lake with an additional single bed allowing for an extra guest and or the option to sleep close to nature.
The cottage is located in a semi private location with neighbors close by. Owners are in the property located behind the cottage and are available if needed. There is a train near by that passes once or twice a day and sometimes at night with a whistle. We think it adds charm, but if you are a light sleeper this may not be for you. The lake has much to offer including abundent wildlife and great fishing. Listen to the loons at night or watch the bald eagles fish . Take a kayak around Blake island and see if you can spot the eagle nest or the loons nest. Your stay at Loon Haven will be relaxing and cozy.
Beautiful Maine lake frontage with great neighbors including Loons and Bald Eagles! The lake community and property include friendly neighbors close by and an owners property out back. Your stay gives you exclusive use of the cottage and the area in front, including the front dock.
  • The lake is beautiful and the cabin is exactly on the water. We had use of kayaks and canoes. There’s a picnic table and a screened porch with a table so you can eat outside or inside but still with a view. The kitchen is well equipped and the space is sparkling clean. We will probably try to stay again next summer.

  • Christian’s place is by far the best experience I have ever had with Air BnB! I’ve stayed in places all over the world and these hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip. I’ve never had a host include so much with our reservation. Their hospitality was amazing along with the beautiful location and gorgeous cabin. I highly recommend this stay!

    Sami2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Family of four (two adults and two teenagers) stayed 5 nights at Loon Haven. The cabin is as beautiful as illustrated in the pictures, directly on the lake with one fixed and one floating dock you can swim to. Everything you need is there for a perfect stay. The cabin is stocked with all the necessities and more, including linens, paper products, books, games, etc. - you could literally just come with a suitcase full of clothes and be all set. There are kayaks (and life vests), a canoe, fishing poles, a firepit and a badminton net, all of which make for outside fun. The cabin is spotless with a great feel from all the wood, with open living room/kitchen, two small bedrooms, bathroom and two porches - the back porch was wonderful for sleeping with a beautiful view of the lake. There are a few small towns nearby with a few restaurants, and a great park at the end of the lake where summer concerts are held - a great experience on our first night there. And on top of all this, the owners are amazing. The communications from the start were fast and clear, and we felt welcomed from the beginning. We were greeted upon arrival, and the owners were at all times readily accessible if needed, yet never intrusive, allowing us complete privacy - the best of both worlds. Thank you both!

  • My husband, daughter, parents, and I came to Waterville for a softball tournament and we are so very thankful we stayed at Christian's lakefront cottage..... Not only was the cottage adorable, comfortable, and spotless, but it is also located on the quintessential MAINE LAKE (complete with loons and eagles)!!!! Christian and Jess made us feel SO welcome, and they thought of everything. (They even invited us to join them on a sunset boat ride!!! ) We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the dock, toasting marshmallows, watching fireworks and floating lanterns. We can't wait to go back and will cherish the memories we made at Loon Haven - an aptly named gem of a get-a-way made all the sweeter through incredibly kind, generous, and down-to-earth hosts.

    tuesday2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and rustic cabin right on the lake. Host lives close by and is very nice.

    Matt2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage on the lake was small but perfect for our stay. It had what we needed. Christian and Jessica were very nice and let us borrow their kayaks and canoes. Leaving was hard but easier after the swim. Thank you!

    Marita2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loon Haven was perfect for our family with the the two boys. The weather could have been a little better, but we still managed to try out every single kayak, paddleboat and all the floating toys, great for the kids! The house is very cosy, we felt ver much at home in it and Christian welcomed us warmly. We recommend Loon Haven to everybody, it is such peaceful and relaxing place! Wish we could have stayed a bit longer... Thank you!

    Manuela2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Loon Haven is a peaceful place to spend the week. Christian is friendly and very accommodating, and shared his canoe, kayaks, and paddleboat with us. He told us about some cool wildlife on an island near the cabin, so we paddled out and saw a bald eagle and its nest, and a nesting loon. The cabin is impeccably clean and comfortable. The kitchen is adequately equipped and we had no trouble cooking all of our meals. An outdoor gas grill is also available for use. I would recommend Loon Haven to anyone looking for a relaxing week on a lake in a charming and lovingly restored cabin.

Check in/check out couldn’t have been easier (despite us arriving late and leaving very early), the bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was clean, cozy, and easily accessed with a bathroom attached. We have a beautiful, clean efficiency apartment- like suite in a daylight basement on the Kennebec River. This is self check in. We are close to Kennebec Comm College, Colby College, Thomas College and Unity college. Even a wine and cheese shop Meridians . We are just walks away from the Messalonskee trail, this is a groomed trail that is alongside the Kennebec river. PLEASE see the pictures to make sure this is the right fit for you! READ OTHER NOTES BEFORE BOOKING!! Thanks.
This is a daylight "basement" suite. Does not have a full kitchen. This kitchenette has a single cook top with cookware, a toaster oven and microwave. Your stay here is close to town but just out enough to enjoy a peaceful place to relax. We have created a coastal Maine feel to our decor to help you experience an authentic Maine stay.
We are on a side street in a rural part of town. Benton is a small community. We usually use the amenities of the town of Fairfield, just across the river. We have neighbors that are quiet and friendly. We've lived here seventeen years. There's nothing else that compares. We love Maine's coastal area. We are an hour from Portland and fourty-five minutes to Belfast/Camden area. We love Bar Harbor and we can make it a day trip if we want.
  • Amazing stay great place.

  • Craig and Jen’s place is a great place to stop in the Waterville/Central Maine area! The area very nice and responsive and have a great view of the river. Thanks again!

    Liz2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Craig and Jen’s place was exactly as described in their listing. We found them easily and the steps to the private entrance were shoveled and sanded. The apartment was simple and convenient, similar to a hotel suite with kitchenette. We used the fold out cot, in addition to the double bed, which were both comfortable. We had everything we needed to prepare simple meals. We were able to quickly access downtown restaurants, the grocery store and the cross country ski trails. Read their bathroom notes - it was quirky but functional. We ended up kind of sit-showering, which was fine with us but could be tricky for others.

    Erin2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • I just want to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay,it really felt like being at home on a wonderful relaxing day,not an impersonal corporate cubicle. The river view was enchanting even on a dreary rainy December day,the ducks were awesome.

    Noelle2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This space is cozy and right by the river! It rained on us when we stayed so we didn't get to enjoy the outside space. I loved the clawfoot tub. But, if you're much over 5'7", you won't be standing for a shower. Overall, I'd visit again earlier in the year!

    Erinn2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Right on the river. Cute place. Everything we needed.

    Kim2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Craig & Jen were awesome! Their place was awesome and exactly what we wanted. Right between the places in Maine we wanting to visit (Bangor & Portland). Benton was awesome and had a lot of things to do as well. Great places to eat! The AirBnB had everything we needed. It was very clean and had anything you would need for a short stay! Would definitely stay there again if we come up that way another time :)

Beautiful nature haven located in the quiet of the woods, nestled by a brook, with a full garden. Enjoy both sun and shade in the peacefulness of the Skep House. Enjoy the wraparound sun porch, or sit in the garden, gazebo, or screened in porch and sun-room. With full kitchen, washer/dryer and all basic cooking supplies, make this your vacation home away from home this summer!
Our round house is a fun and unique place called The Skep. We offer a cozy, quiet and comfortable home that comfortably sleeps 4 people (2 couples), or 3 single people. Our home is divided into many zones, with a full open plan kitchen/dining bar, dining table and living area, separate sun room with breakfast table, and then an additional screened in porch that sleeps 2 in a double bed. The full bathroom with tub/shower is located on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms, both with double beds, (one is a futon) and a half bathroom. The gazebo is a wonderful space to enjoy breakfast or lunch or for the hottest of summer nights, someone who wants to explore sleeping on a cot!
Vienna is a quiet, residential town and we are located down a long quiet backwoods road. Perfect for long walks or bike rides, up to the end of the road that opens onto Kimball Pond.
  • I have been driving through Maine since 2015 and noting its beauty and the hospitality of the people. I wanted an opportunity to stay in one of those tucked away homes in the woods. After 4 years of drivebys this experience and home is what I was wanted to experience. I loved the garden, frog pond, grounds, and the unique architecture of this wonderful and cozy home. Friendly people were everywhere we ventured. I only wish we had time to enjoy one of those lakes in a canoe and a church service. I will fondly recall this place and the open roads when I am back in the city fighting thru traffic.

  • The Skep house was amazing! What an interesting and thoughtfully crafted home. Libby was a great host and the garden was so peaceful for a weekend away.

    Olivia2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place is full of unique character, with a collection of bird nests to clocks, pillows, and antiques. You are surrounded by nature, the soft sounds of the creek, and once in a while, you will hear an owl at night. I slept mostly in the den that is surrounded by screens, which made me feel close to nature and in the early morning, I spent my time writing in the gazebo. Libby and AO are quite a delight. AO works in his workshop that is in the front yard and Libby is easily reached at any time. You are close to Farmington and Belgrade. Augusta and Hellowey only 40-minutes away.

SNOWMOBILERS WELCOME! The Hideaway is located in a remote and sparsely populated rural area. Excellent hunting, boating , mountain biking, skiing and snowmobiling are found nearby. It features a fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms, an all season sun porch with wood stove and. futon, a washer dryer and ample parking. Owners live nearby and make use of a nearby garage.
At this time there is no cable or satellite TV or Internet. There is a TV equipped with DVD player. There is a good Verizon signal for hot spotting and phone use.
Although halfway between Quebec city and Boston the Hideaway is in a distinctly rural area. There is a large working dairy farm nearby and great unbroken maine woods commences just a few miles to the north. Deer, turkeys and dirt roads abound. 9 miles to the south lies Skowhegan, the county seat.
  • Beautiful AirBnb with lots of space! It is a cozy place to stay and is about an hour 10 minute drive to Sugarloaf. I loved the wood stove and comfortable beds!

  • Very nice spot for our family stay. I would recommend this rental to others.

    Matt2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We'd go back to John's place in a heartbeat. We hung out at John's in the evening and snowboarded Sugarloaf during the day. I'd highly recommend staying there as it's most-of-the-way to Sugarloaf from Boston. The drive is a little over an hour to the mountain when the roads are snowy. The Hideaway is really a great value; pretty country around there, super peaceful. There's plenty of sleeping space and a good kitchen with coffee. His own paintings are hanging throughout the place which really gives it a personal touch (he's actually quite good!). John made sure to stoke up the wood stove before we got there which was great. At one point we accidentally blew a fuse and John came by right away to help us out. He lives across the street so is super available if you need anything. There's is heat besides the wood stove that works really well, so you don't have to worry about keeping the fire going, though I would highly recommend it!

Cozy, small, clean 2 bedroom riverside home in a rural setting close to town
Affordable, clean, all inclusive, small two story, 2 bedroom 1900s home in a country setting yet close to town. 10 minute drive to Waterville, 20 minutes to Augusta and Skowheagan, 40 minutes to Belfast. Many updates, new appliances, furniture, beds/bedding. It has a large back deck that overlooks the Sebastacook River. We are local and available hosts.
  • Kim and John’s home is just what we needed. It was cozy and warm and I bet the view in the summer with the river outback is absolutely gorgeous. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was as well. The place is sparkling clean. Easy commute to unity college for a prospective parents. There is a great little restaurant only a few miles away called the purple cow for a great big breakfast! Kim and John are right there across the street if you need anything. I would highly recommend this place for small families and couples getting away with one child. The icing on the cake is that our puppy could come as well as long as she was well behaved :). Thank you John and Kim for an excellent stay!

  • Great, simple home located on a main road in a peaceful rural setting. Hosts were quick to reply and seemed happy to help however they could. Even though they were right across the road, it still felt like we had our privacy. We had a great time here for our weekend getaway.

  • This house was perfect for me for a month as I worked in central Maine. It's very comfortable, well outfitted, and the hosts are extremely responsive. A real value!

  • Extremely nice hosts. The house has everything you need. Clean and super cozy.

    Steve2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a wonderful place. It's a quaint home with beautiful views from all windows. There is a big river right outside that can be visited via a small trail leading to a dock. There are plenty of things to cook with (pots pans, knives, etc.), lots of extra blankets, warm heaters, a nice roku television, great tips on local activities, not to mention the beautiful cows they have across the street. Benton, Maine is a very special place that we hope to visit again soon. The house is very close to Waterville where there are bigger shopping centers for groceries and household needs as well as restaurants and charming historical sites. The check-in was very simple and pleasant; Kim and John were very responsive to our texts. We both felt very welcomed as Kim and John were hospitable hosts. We will definitively hope to stay here again when we're back in town!

Get away from the hustle and bustle of life and unplug for a few days in this yurt on beautiful Great Pond. Listen to the loons calling at night and wake to water lapping at the edge of the lake. Hang out and swim by the dock or go for a paddle in the canoe or kayaks which are available onsite. Life vests and many flotation options are also available in a shed by the yurt. For Runoia alumnae and parents, the yurt is right beyond fairy ring.
The yurt has 3 double futons, a small kitchen and round table and chairs (great for cards and games). There is a composting toilet in a separate building. We do not have running water or electricity; but do supply drinking and dish washing water. There is a 2 burner gas cook stove inside the yurt; and outside there is a picnic table, gas grill and fire pit. The yurt also has a supply of firewood and kindling and a wood stove. The yurt has kitchen utensils, pots, pans, plates. You will need to bring your own linen/sleeping bags, pillow cases and towels.
The town of Belgrade Lakes is very close by and has a great general store, icecream shop and a number of restaurants. Our favorite place to have breakfast is the Post Office Care in Vienna, about 10 minutes away.
  • Wonderful spot with tons of stuff to do right down the road. The lake is almost right outside the door. The yurt was spacious, cozy, and really easy to keep warm in. The amenities of gas powered stove and grill, ample firewood, and a sink for cleaning dishes made this a great camp out for our kids! We loved canoeing on the serene lake!

    Caleb2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The most lovely place to be in nature, no matter the weather . I listened to the waves on the lake as I fell asleep and was able to look up at trees through the sky light upon waking . I encountered a deer as I took a stroll in the woods. The yurt gives me a chance to get rebalanced and feel at peace . I can’t wait to be there again .

Our home is a bright, open concept Maine lakefront cottage, located in the foothills of central Maine in the small town of Vienna. We are about an hour from the coast and an hour from the mountains. Perfectly situated as a jumping point for all types of exploration. Flying Pond is a small deep (80') pond, 400 acres, with islands and an interesting, sometimes steep, shoreline carved out by glaciers
Our home is nestled in the hill side with a high vantage over the pond. There is a wraparound deck looking down the hill to the water, that is great for relaxing in the treetops. The house itself is bright and airy with open vaulted ceiling in the living room and a carpeted sleeping loft above with a double and a single bed. At ground level there is an ample kitchen, built in dinette great for family meals and board games, a full bedroom with double bed and closet, and a 3/4 Bath with shower. Downstairs there is a master bedroom suite with a queen bed, large closet and full bath. There is also walk out patio doors off the master bedroom, where you can listen to the loons at night and wake to the sun over the pond in the morning.
Our house is on a small, year round road in a little community of retirees and seasonal residents. We are about 2 miles from "downtown" Mt Vernon. There are quite a few preserves for walking close by including the Kennebec Highlands, 6000+ acres for public use. The Belgrade lakes region has tons of lakes and waterways for fishing and paddling. We are close to the head of the 30 mile watershed with longer paddling opportunities. In the winter we are just over an hour from both Sugarloaf and Sunday River. There are lots of cross country skiing and snowshoeing possibilities nearby, and ice fishing right at the house.
  • Ben and Bobbi Jo were wonderful hosts! Ours was a 3 generation vacation and the house was perfect for that, perfectly designed to give people some peace and quiet while still giving a very cozy feel. The location is great, the lake was amazingly warm. I also liked running and even went mountain biking in the Kennebec Highland trails - there is a surprisingly good, well flowing trail down the mountain that can be found on trailforks. We used the canoe quite a bit as well and at the end our hosts allowed us to leave our canoe, kayak and 2 bikes for another week when we had some car troubles. All in all highly recommended!

  • An absolute gem of a place. Spotlessly clean, all the home comforts (like sharp knives, loo roll, washing up liquid), great view and the pond was fabulous to swim in. Loved the canoe also.

  • You will love this comfortable home on the beautiful and peaceful Flying Pond. The hosts were available and welcoming at check in and when we had a question. The house was super clean with all amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • Ben and Bobbi Jo's place was just what we were hoping for - a pleasant and quiet spot right on the lake. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable, and we loved jumping off the dock and taking their canoe around the lake. Ben was helpful with communication and check-in, and we felt very welcome. Would definitely stay again!

  • We loved our stay at Flying Pond!

    Kate2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Impeccably clean, quiet, cozy, comfortable, and beautiful view of Flying Pond! Ben and Bobbi Jo could not be more gracious hosts!

  • Ben and Bobbi Jo were once again perfect hosts. The summer months in Vienna did not disappoint. The dock provided hours of entertainment for the children- jumping off the end to swim to the ladder and plenty of blue gills for the budding fishermen. The lake couldn't be more peaceful. Even on Saturday, the lake was quiet with respectful neighbors. My absolute favorite part was listening to the loons, just beautiful. Mt Vernon, 3 minutes down the road, has a sweet café and small grocery store with a surprising amount of essentials. You cannot beat the value of this lovely property.

  • I have been renting vacation homes for 30 years; this was definitely one of the nicest. The house is charming and comfortable, and you’ll find everything you need. We loved the lake and very much enjoyed exploring the area. Bobbi Jo and Ben are just delightful hosts - they have thought of everything. We hope to return to Flying Pond another time.

You’ll love my place because of 100' of private lakefront - very quiet - great fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids). The camp has wifi (dsl) but no cable, and cell service is weak. (URL HIDDEN)
This is a classic A-frame cabin, with a master bedroom with queen bed, full bathroom/shower with a washer/dryer, kitchen, small dining area, living room, and screened-in porch overlooking the private 100' of lake frontage. We have a 30' dock, and the lake is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing. It is 90' deep in the middle, and gets surprisingly warm off the dock. Surface temperatures reached high 80's in the summer of 2016! Upstairs there is a loft that you reach by ladder which has a full bed and 2 singles.
We are located on a peninsula in the middle of the lake, facing South. The lake is very clean, and is just big enough for outdoor activities but not too big to attract too many water skiers or motor boats. It's got a good reputation for fishing (bass and trout). There is a small zoo nearby (DEW zoo) which had a reality TV show on Animal Planet. There is a gas station and general store about 2 minutes away (1/2 hour walking) and a small grocery store about 2 miles down the road in Mt. Vernon. There is a small cafe that has free wifi, great coffee and lunches. They also have music in the evenings in the summer. 1/2 hour drive is Farmington with a WalMart and Hannafords, and 1/2 hour southeast is Augusta with Home Depot and anything else you'd need. There is also a nice State Museum in Augusta and a Revolutionary fort. The coast is about 90 minutes due east, and we like to visit the town of Belfast, which is a little less touristy then Boothbay or Bar Harbor.
  • This was our second time at Tir Owen and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere just as much this time! The setting is perfectly secluded and scenic. Pat has made some updates to the interior which show his pride of ownership and were a nice touch! Nearly everything you could need is provided. We hope to return again next year!

  • This was our Second trip to Pat’s, so it was exactly what I expected, wanted, needed! We so hope to go again next year! Pat thanks so much! Cabin is a dream, water is amazing, we had a few visitors during our two week stay, and when not kayaking, canoeing, or just swimming , we cooked on grill, and sat by fire pit. Hammock was always a great spot to nap.

  • Very relaxing and awesome view of water and sunsets. Great for swimming kayaking and fishing kids will love it.

  • Shade, warm water, quiet and peaceful. Hope to return next year.

  • If you're looking for a simple and quaint home on a lake this is the place. The scenery and tranquility were superb. Pat was a great host and answered all our questions quickly.

  • Great place!!! Second year in a row I’ve rented Pat’s place. Perfect location and great fishing, kayaking, swimming and much more.

  • quiet water, beautiful spot, camp is mix of camp, and cottage. perfect location, I am in love with location! I have spent 30+ years, as a child, teen, and bringing my own children, to flying pond, coming back after 18 years, Finding Pat's Place, just made me feel like a kid! I felt welcome, neighbors are friendly, engaging, And I had an amazing week! Thanks Pat!

    Tracy2018-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, rustic “camp” right on flying pond. The location is perfect. Watching the lake from the screened in porch or from a fire in the fire pit is the perfect end to a day on the lake fishing or swimming. I will definitely return.

Secluded & artistically built - a new cabin on top of Hampshire Hill. For those who want to remember what silence sounds like. Sit, enjoy the views, hear yourself think, or go explore 75 acres of private woods w 2 miles of private trails. 10 minutes from downtown Belgrade Lakes & public beaches on Long Pond & Great Pond. Close to Kennebec trails, snowmobile trails, Farmington & Augusta. 1 hr south of ski resorts. Great for stopping for 1 night or for taking a week to escape from the world.
The cabin is at the top of a dirt road. There is no TV or internet available, though nearby cell towers make using data on devices easy. Four wheel drive and/or snow tires required in winter months and mud season (October through April). Well behaved pets are welcome with the agreement that you will clean up after them :-)
This is a great location that will make you feel like you are away from civilization. But it is just a 10 minute drive to country stores in Belgrade or Farmington and a 30 minute drive to Augusta. I have travelled all over the world but this little spot is one of my FAVORITE places to be.
  • This is the perfect getaway. We hope we have the chance to stay here again some day!

  • mind-blowing space/location! totally worth it

    Olivia2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin with spectacular views. So many thoughtful touches inside a cozy space.

  • If you are on the fence about staying at Kate Ah Den... do not wait another second to book this spectacular oasis. The cabin is truly a little slice of heaven on earth and as picturesque as it comes. My only regret is not staying for longer. Thank you Kate for your outstanding hospitality and for sharing your beautiful vision with us. Our stay was nothing short of outstanding.

    Brittany2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very nice. The house is beautiful, the view was breathtaking and I would definitely go back again!

    Christina2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do this cabin justice. It is the most beautiful cabin and spot ever. Simply magical.

    Sara2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you're reading this, stop, and book this place. I too searched many listings, and I too read the good reviews of Kate's place. They are true. This is an amazing experience. Kate's cabin is a modern and very clean space with a view. We travelled from Boston up the Maine coast during the winter, and then down the New Hampshire Mountains. It was a sublime trip with amazing views, and we can only wish we could spend more time there. We had amazing food on the way. The best lobster rolls at Red Barn 30 minutes away and many more other experiences. Snowshoeing in the quiet forest gave us a silence that we have never heard before. Never did we realize the world can be so quiet. You could not hear a thing, and it's a feeling you just have to live for yourself in the winter. That being said, the activities are much limited in the winter, so expect a more quiet and less activity filled stay. Board games and fireplace are excellent touches. One concern: We arrived right after sunset, and it was dark enough that us city dwellers were a little creeped out. Beware fellow city dwellers! I do wish some of the front windows and doors had some screens, since we're not used to an atmosphere so "one" with nature. A couple curtains would really help with privacy and coziness!

  • I feel so fortunate to come across this listing...it was the perfect cabin get away, as the other reviewers stated you could not do the views justice in the pictures. I felt as if I was sleeping in the tree tops and the views of the ME mountains were breath taking. Kate has left many very thoughtful touches, to the uniqueness to the cabin and all the amazing work done on clearing trails. Something wonderful to be said about snow shoeing right out your front door to 3 very well marked and maintained trails. It was just the right touch if you needed to get out for a bit but didn't want to drive. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful peaceful place with us!
