  • Lovely little annex of a house, exactly what we wanted for our weekend away. You really feel like you have your own space and it is quite separate to the main house. Lovely and helpful host too!

    Sophie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely location, very quiet and in a beautiful village. Frances made us feel very much at home and we were extremely comfortable. Loads of hot water and powerful shower. Anyone who has difficulty with stairs might find these ones a little steep but we had no problem. Good parking right outside the door. Would definitely recommend.

Quiet bungalow in heart of the Welland Valley in one of its most loved villages, next to the sports club. Bags of fab enclosed outside space; a Post Office and village shop, a 2 minute walk along the river to the Nevill Arms and local cafe serving fantastic breakfasts and lunches. Farm shop one mile. Renowned walking/cycling area; Foxton Locks, Rutland Water, Rockingham Castle are just some of our "go to" places. We are between two beautiful market towns, Market Harborough and Uppingham
Medbourne is a chocolate box village - think Midsummer Murders but without the murders - The bungalow is a bit of a tardis, huge garden, huge living/dinning room, differently abled friendly. We will do our very best to make your stay as great as we can. Housekeeper and gardener once a week. One double bedroom and one single.
The Welland Valley is beautiful and Medbourne is jewel in its crown. We have everything on our doorstep from bustling market towns with unique shops and restaurants/bars to great value pubs and cafes. Magnificent countryside and favourite for walkers and biking enthusiasts.
  • A quiet and very pretty village with a great foodie pub a few minutes walk away. Lovely, quiet spot to relax and highly recommended for a weekend break. The house is a proper lived in property with all you could need for a home from home experience. Market Harborough worth a visit. An attractive and bustling market town.

  • As advertised and a lovely location. We stayed in winter and it was lovely and warm. I can imagine that in spring and summer the garden enhances the property such that you could spend many hours just reading and enjoying the vista.

A bright and modern space in a beautiful rural setting. A first floor one bedroom flat attached to the main house but with its own entrance. There is a kitchen with cooking basics and parking for 1 car - (2 at a push!) We are in the middle of wonderful road cycling, walking and fishing country, being close to Eyebrook Reservoir, Rutland Water, the Jurassic Way, the Leicestershire Round and more. We are also half a mile from Nevill Holt Opera.
The Welland Valley is a beautiful area. We are close to Uppingham with cafes and independent shops and it’s fresh market on Fridays. Leicester is an easy 20 miles away, Oakham 13 miles, Oundle and Stamford about 16 miles and Market Harborough 9 miles. Our apartment is attached to the main house but with its own entrance and parking and is very private. It is a very bright space with wonderful views all around over countryside. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and a wardrobe and the new en-suite has a large shower. We are slowly trying to become a single use plastic free zone so have lovely refillable coconut shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom for your use, together with handmade soap. In the kitchen we have an electric cooker, a microwave, fridge freezer and hopefully everything you would need for cooking. Also supplied is olive oil, general seasoning, tea, coffee and a selection of herbal teas. There is WiFi in the flat and plenty of room to set up your laptop should you need to. The sitting room is full of light and very comfy with a sofa and arm chairs. There are two single sofa beds in this room that can be used as a double or two singles. The dining table is in this room. There is Freeview on the television and dvds can be played. We have a good selection of games, dvds and books should you need them. We live in a very quiet area with plenty of lovely walks and things to do. We are road cyclists and the area is very good for that. We are close to various bits of the Jurassic Way and the Leicestershire Round, Rutland Water and, if you like to fish, Eyebrook Reservoir. The internationally known Birdfair is held annually at Rutland Water in August at the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre, Egleton near Oakham. We want to ensure your stay is all you hope for . You can be as private as you like as we have a key safe for checking in and the flat is completely separate. I am usually around and, if not, contactable should you be missing something or need some information. There is no washing machine in the flat but you are welcome to use ours. There is a drying rack, an iron and a board in the flat.
We are close to several lovely market towns. Uppingham, Oakham, Stamford and Oundle. Peterborough and Leicester are both 45 mins away. We have very good rail connections from Corby, Kettering and Market Harborough.
  • You will not be disappointed with your stay at Alex's flat. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing experience. Everything you would have in your own home is there for you.

  • Lovely place, gorgeous location. My two daughters and I stayed here for a weekend and loved it. Alex is a super host who makes you feel comfortable and at home from the outset, always at hand without being intrusive. The flat itself has everything you could want and is spotlessly clean and stylish. I would recommend anyone who loves the countryside staying at Alex's place as it's location is second to none. Thanks for having us Alex it was a super weekend.

  • Alex is a caring and considerate host and was keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We appreciated the little touches like kitchen basics being provided for the first day. • What a wonderful cottage. Medbourne is a lovely secluded village with a great pub and shop. Janet was a great host, we had really quick and helpful communication with her from the start, and was very helpful with any queries. The cottage was absolutely wonderful, we couldn’t fault it at all. We all loved it, including the kids. Having all the kids equipment (cots and high chairs) was also really helpful. We would definitely come back again in the future.

  • pretty local area, farmhouse is very nice with a lovely warm welcome. Host is brilliant at communication and great value for money. Jane was very accommodating when I asked to bring an extra person. Little touches like this make the stay more pleasurable.

    Carrie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were two very tired ladies on our way home from the NEC in Birmingham and decided to break our journey by staying at Jane's place in Market Harborough. Jane was very warm and welcoming, went out of her way to be helpful, and provided a wonderful breakfast with many home-made touches - accommodating our vegan/vegetarian diets brilliantly. We had two very nice bedrooms, with a shared bathroom, plus our own very spacious 'drawing room' with roaring log fire, TV etc. Breakfast was served there too. We spent a couple of hours pottering around the country town of Market Harborough, before wending our way home. It made a work trip into a mini holiday, and we would not hesitate to stay at Jane's place again.

    Daphne & Sarah2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Spot on directions and a gorgeous place to stay. The little lounge with a roaring fire was very welcome after a long drive from The North. Breakfast was amazing and well worth the splurge. Would recommend ! A+++

There are many walks in the area as well as National Trust properties, Rutland Water Nature Reserve, country parks, scenic churches and many picturesque towns and villages.

  • Really lovely air bnb. Plenty of room yet really cosy! Felt really comfortable and at home. Decorated lovely, super clean and tidy. The bed was really comfy, had a brilliant sleep. Great communication prior to visit, easy check in, and was kindly flexible with the check out time :) would definitely recommend!

  • A great, country inspired place to call home. Cozy and comfortable with a true home from home feel and in a great little village too. Didn’t have a chance to try the pub but hopefully next time! Ideal that it’s a short walk away. Will definitely return!

  • Perfection.

    Martin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place! Compact but beautifully thought out. Quality fittings and decor make it feel special - and it is spotlessly clean. The tiled floor was ideal for the dog, who was also content, especially when we folded back the doors to let the sun in. We had a small issue with the WiFi, which Josie fixed quickly - she is only next door! Check in and out is easy - the key is by the property in a key safe. Overall - a really nice place to stay.

A studio flat with kitchenette, large shower room, seating area & double bed situated in the beautiful village of Thorpe Langton. Stunning views and walks on your doorstep and great restaurant/pub 200m walk away. 5 mile drive to thriving market town of Market Harborough where there is a train station, 1 hour straight through to London. Idyllically located in a rural Leicestershire Village, this 300 year old Converted Barn offers guests a beautiful and comfortable base to explore the countryside. The accommodation consists of 2 ensuites. A further double bedroom is available but has to share the bathroom between the two bedrooms. The third bedroom is on the ground floor with ensuite. Each room is £42 a night, and can be booked separately or all 3 for £126. The local pub near by is well known for its home cooking!
The three bedrooms can be booked seperately at £42 a night each or all 3 together for a group of six at £126. Large sitting room is available for guests, with a cosy wood burner. Great pub very close to the house with home cooked food.
  • The house is deceptive from the outside as it is spacious and welcoming with a lovely kitchen dining room and there is a lovely snug but generous sized separate lounge. Loved everything about the house and Garry has been the perfect host a marvelous find in a beautiful village. It was a shame the village pub is in transition but I’m sure it will turn around again but plenty of village pubs nearby so not an issue. Loved it. Nuala

  • Garry and his wife were perfect hosts. They made the stay delightful. The location was superb in terms of where it was and the peacefulness of the place. Would recommend it to all.

    Stephen2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent location for exploring this idyllic rural area with lovely market towns in easy driving/cycling distance. The house has a lovely sense of calm about it, with an amazing Fish pond, garden and court yard. Gary and his wife where welcoming and extremely helpful, they also gave me the privacy I needed. The village is picturesque with plenty of cycle or walking routes, it's local pub provides fine beverages and scrumptious home cooked food. The regulars there are just as friendly as my hosts. If you like a picture postcard glimpse of rural England then this is the place for you.

    Tristram2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great barn conversion in a lovely little village. Amazing spot for footpaths, walking, running, cycling and generally being in the countryside.

    Phil2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • You can ask everything you want to Gary and his lovely wife, they are very helpfull ( except catching whasps)

    Evi2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best place if you looking for peace and quiet, away from any noise, people, traffic etc. Hidden in a little village, with a lovely pub down the road. There was live music on Sat night as well... which amazingly you cant hear in the property. Its a short drive from Market Harb. and 20 min from Oakham and Rutland waters. WE have also found out there is a horse riding school about 10 min away. Perfect for nature lovers, keen cyclists etc. There is also the most friendly cat in the house …. absolutely adorable! We will most probably return in the future.

    Lucie2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Garry has completely remodeled a 300 year old barn and made it into a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming home. He is a friendly and gracious host. His house is in a very tiny village with a very friendly neighborhood pub in it’s center. It is close to many places in Leicestershire while, at the same time, being delightfully off the beaten track.

    Linn2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location in a remote village, so prepare to use lots of taxis unless you have access to a car. Gary was very friendly and helpful, and overall we are very happy with our stay.

Market Harborough, Leicestershire, England , U.K., United Kingdom

Built in 1634, the Barn is on the edge of a village near Market Harborough in Leicestershire. We converted it in 2017, and it's on our property, but separate from it. Light and airy, it's open plan downstairs, with areas for cooking, dining and relaxing. French doors lead out onto a pretty courtyard garden, with stone steps up to a raised area, where you can watch the sunset over the fields. Upstairs there's a well-equipped bedroom and bathroom with far reaching views over the countryside.
Looking out two sets of French doors to the back courtyard garden, there’s a sitting room area with a sofa and comfy chair. We have a Smart 55in curved TV with surround sound and Netflix as well as a DVD player. There are films to watch, games to play and books to read. The WiFi speed is 50 Mbps, and super fast, making The Barn a great open plan work space too. The dining table seats four and works well as a desk. The kitchen area is small but fully functional. There's a fridge with a small freezer compartment and a combi microwave that can grill pizzas, heat ready meals or roast a chicken. On the dresser there's a toaster and a small plug in induction hob. An espresso coffee machine and capsules are provided as well as a range of teas. You won't turn up needing much; we provide towels, sheets, loo rolls, milk, basic condiments and fairy liquid. Upstairs, the double bed is a standard size, and although there are eaves and beams, there is plenty of headroom where you need it. But the door to the bedroom is low, so watch your head in the middle of the night if you go to the loo! Outside the bathroom there is an area where a Futon mattress can be popped down, and an extra person, or two at a push, could sleep if need be. There's a lovely courtyard garden with lots of places to sit in the sunshine, raised vegetable beds and flowers. Up some steep stone steps there's a platform area, (we call it a gin terrace...), from which you can watch the sunset over views of the fields. There is a low wall at the front of the terrace, with a six foot drop beneath it into a field, which is usually occupied by sheep or cows. Although safe for sober adults, it is not recommended for the inebriated, infirm or young children.
The Barn is on the edge of a quiet, pretty village with a good pub a few minutes walk away, that serves better than average pub food. There are walks straight from the house, and the pretty towns of Market Harborough, Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford are 10, 20, 30 and 40 minutes away. Corby is 10 minutes away and has an Olympic sized pool with diving boards, a cinema and theatre. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby ranging from the Michelin starred Hambleton Hall near Oakham to the cosy gastropub, Bakers Arms in Thorpe Langton. The pretty village of Medbourne, a ten minute drive away, has the Cafe Neville, which does a great breakfast and is popular with cyclists who gather there at weekends. Local attractions include Rockingham Castle, Kirby Hall, Burghley House and Rutland Water.
  • Great place, spotlessly clean and very light and spacious.

  • I am a returning traveler! I highly recommend staying here-the converted barn is so cozy and truly feels like a home away from home. The barn has everything you need and Anne even provided milk for tea and coffee. You will not be disappointed!

    Sarah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Anne's converted barn. It's a cosy and comfortable place to stay, very clean and in beautiful surroundings. Some handy tips for local amenities were provided (can recommend the White Horse for food - just a few minutes walk away). Thank you Anne!

  • Clean, comfy, picturesque and quiet. Perfect for a getaway in a beautiful little village. Lots of walking and some great pubs for lunch nearby. The property has everything you need for a lovely stay. Anne was always on hand if we needed anything and had offered hints and tips. Equally, we always felt like we gas the space to ourselves. We will be heading back.

    Chloe2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very well proportioned and equipped, in a wonderful location. If you’re after an escape in the country in good or bad weather, look no further. The food at the local was also fantastic.

  • Wonderful place in a lovely village, very romantic and nice. Anne was an amazing host paying attention to the small details and making our stay much better than I expected. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to escape from the busyness and monotony of the city. Pd: the "white horse's" food is grand.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Anne’s beautiful converted barn. It was absolutely spotless, really cosy and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location was perfect - so peaceful and the local pub served up some very tasty grub. We shall definitely be booking again soon. Many thanks to Anne and Chris for being such lovely hosts x

Lots of little touches to make the visitor feel welcome, and a very responsive host. Note that it's all single beds, so if you need a bit more space to toss and turn you'll need to bear that in mind. All clean and tidy, and pretty close to the centre of town.

  • The house was clean and spacious. Delighted to find that essentials (tea, coffee, milk + more) were provided. John and Anna were excellent hosts and communicated excellently throughout the process. Very likely to use in future.

    Ben2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • John and Anna really go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. We only stayed for 2 nights as we are in the area for a wedding but it was like a home away from home. We had a 14 month old with us and she slept soundly in the travel cot, which we had in one of the spare rooms. All of the appliances seem brand new and top of the range. There were many thoughtful touches such as cereal, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee available as well as a few biscuits. And when we enquired about a sheet for the travel cot, Anna turned up with one within half an hour. We really couldn't have asked for better hosts. Probably the best we've had and we've done a lot of AirBNB (and hosted lots of people too!). Thanks John and Anna for a wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend for families staying in Corby.

  • Angela was a wonderful, easy-going host, we cooked our own evening meal on arrival and really felt at home. Her house is spotless and refreshingly free of clutter! Wonderful views over the valley behind the house from the kitchen/diner and our bedroom, and from our bedroom we could not hear the occasional traffic that passes the front of the house. Highly recommended.

  • The property was well placed for events at Rockingham. Angela was delightful and very helpful. The room was clean and the view was superb. It was good of Angela to allow us to use the kitchen in the evenings rather than going out to eat. Would definitely stay there again.

    Lara2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed the night with Angela after a wedding at Rockingham Castle which is literally 5 minutes down the road. The room was beautiful, the bed huge and incredibly comfortable, the views stunning from the room and from the deck in the garden, the breakfast delicious and most importantly the welcome was so warm. Angela is funny and open, interested in getting to know you, she made sure we were all set for the day, made us feel at home and even offered us a lift. If ever in the area again I would definitely stay with Angela.

  • We had a short stay at Willow and can’t recommend the place enough. The hot tub, the rooms, the location were all great. The lodge was clean and had everything you could need for a stay. The space outside was great for the dog to run around in. There was lots of information on places to visit and dog friendly pubs which were very helpful when visiting places you don’t know. Dave and Hannah were great hosts and very welcoming. We shall definitely be returning.

    Chloe2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • There isn't much I can add to the reviews that have already been written. This was a much needed break for my family and we absolutely loved it. We met Dave on the way in who was very friendly and recommended a local pub to watch the six nations. We then got to the lodge and fell in love, with my daughter claiming she never wants to go home, it was immaculate, cosy and had everything you could possibly need for a short break. Though the weather outside was very cold wet and windy, the lodge was already warm when we arrived and stayed the same throughout, the hot tub as promised was always on and we were in and out all weekend. A great space for the dogs to run around and some great local walks. We ventured out to take a look around locally, and found some nice pubs and places to visit. Overall the stay was nothing short of amazing, some great touches from the hosts, who stayed in touch throughout and on hand should we require anything, can't wait to go back

Lovely contemporary accommodation. Light and airy double room with bifold doors overlooking the garden. Located in picturesque village with 2 cafes, local pub, post office and cash machine. Walk or short drive into Market Harborough, local town with a great selection of pubs, shops and restaurants. 1 mile from train station with direct service to Leicester and London St Pancras. You can therefore watch any programs through freeview & any smart tv applications that you have an account with (for example bbc iplayer, ITV hub, netflix, amazon prime etc).
We are located on a quiet cul-de-sac right in the heart of the village. Great Bowden offers you the best of both worlds -a lovely country village feel but with all the amenities and convenience of a small town nearby. Market Harborough is a beautiful market town with a fantastic selection of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants. Great Bowden has everything you need, we love it here. Nothing is more than a couple of minutes walk away! Bowden Stores - fantastic coffee house & homeware store. Weltons - Cafe & deli with post office & cash machine. Shoulder of Mutton - local pub. Lively Tennis & cricket clubs, both situated in the pretty local park with kids playground. • We were warmly welcomed by Rachel and her lovely black lab, the room has a very comfortable king size bed and Rachel had made sure the room was nice a warm for when we arrived. Great shower with fluffy white towels and Cowshed products. Very quiet and an easy walk to a really nice cafe and deli. Great find, definitely recommend.

    Isobel2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The garden room is beautiful. Rachel was the perfect host, especially when accompanied by their gorgeous friendly dog! Would highly recommend staying there. The coffee machine was a nice touch.

  • What a wonderful chic place to stay, a perfectly formed and tastefully designed space. Cowshed products, nespresso capsules and thick, opulent bed linen. What more could one ask for?! Thanks Rachel and Guy!

    Roland2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a sparkling find for us. Tucked away in a quiet road in this attractive village, Rachel’s room was perfect for our trip down south for the weekend. The room is reached through a separate secure door to the rear garden, and is located in an extension to the house that gives independence and the freedom to come and go as you wish. Looking out over the attractive garden the location is perfectly quiet and restful, and the room itself is well proportioned, with a comfy bed, well equipped shower room, fluffy towels and coffee facilities. There is a pub and village shop a short walk away, but we strolled into Market Harborough in half an hour and you will find a huge range of facilities there too. Rachel was a charming and helpful host and should be proud of her lovely accommodation. Her recommendation for breakfast at the Bowden Stores was spot on. We’d never have found that wonderful bolt hole without her help! In all, highly recommended!!

I am an employment lawyer of 20 years’ experience. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed fighting for the rights of employees from disadvantaged groups who have suffered discrimination and I’ve met such a wide range of fascinating people. After meeting my husband, I moved out from London to help my husband on our farm, and I enjoy welcoming guests to our barns. I have been really thrilled by the variety and diversity of our clientele and look forward to making you feel at home in our cosmopolitan bolthole in this stunning part of the UK. You will have your own private hot tub from which to enjoy the stunning views. Up to two dogs welcome. Must be on leads at all times due to sheep grazing. Adjoining barn Fairchild’s Barn can also be booked to allow groups of 16 to stay in both properties.
The neighbouring market town Uppingham features a weekly market every Friday, as well as a number of antiques shops and art galleries. We are close to Rutland Water a haven for sailors, wind surfers cyclists and runners.
  • What a fantastic, tranquil and beautiful weekend my friends and I have just spent here. The accommodation is finished to highest standards and is just so luxurious, with everything you need and more. Lovely finishing touches, cookies, flip flops, towelling robes etc. Fabulous walks over the fields. The hot tub is the absolute icing on the cake. Thank you Louise, we will return! Xxx

  • Amazing location, lovely place to stay and the host was very helpful with anything we needed

    Nick2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a fabulous relaxing week at Big Drift Barn. It is one half of a newly converted barn in an idyllic setting, overlooking peaceful open farmland as far as the eye can see. The barn is very well designed for a large group, with four double bedrooms, two of which are en-suites. The master bedroom is on the 1st floor and the other three are downstairs, so great for accessibility. There is plenty of parking outside, plus a large decking area with seating, accessed from the lounge (via bifold doors). The barn is very well designed for socialising with a contemporary open plan kitchen and large dining table. The beds are super comfy and bathrooms have great powerful showers. Plenty of hot water and the place is warm, with underfloor heating. There are TVs in each room and games consoles for the kids (& big kids!) There is a gorgeous log burner in the lounge which we enjoyed using each night. The barn is dog friendly which is a bonus and the washing machine came in very handy for cleaning dog towels and outdoor clothing. There is a hose to wash off muddy paws and welly boots by the back door. The hot tub is tucked around the back so that you can sit in private but still enjoy the view over the fields. It was a luxury which we thoroughly enjoyed. You can link up your music app from your phone to the hot tub! We visited lots of places during our stay; Rutland Water (a highlight) , East Carlton park, Fineshade woods and we also did some footpath/bridleway walks through Lyddington and Uppingham. There are walks from the barn also so you don’t have to drive if you don’t want to. My husband did a couple of bike rides too. Great for this. You are literally spoilt for choice. It’s a great base for exploring the pretty villages nearby of which there are many. We had a brilliant stay at Big Drift Barn and will most certainly return. The owners were very attentive, thoughtful and as it’s a new business they were also looking for feedback and suggestions on how to improve. I couldn’t come up with much so that’s always a good sign! Thanks to Louise and Andrew for making us feel so welcome.

  • This beautifully presented dwelling is spacious enought to give all your guests room both together and alone. Beautiful views and plenty of parking room. Loiuse came accross to meet us to make sure everything was fine and was a conscientious hoast, she left us a beautiful welcome pack. The kitchen had good quality crockery and cooking utensils with thoughtful touches like aprons and a sandwich and coffee makers. Beding was crisp and clean, beds were luxurious and comfy. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful peaceful location. Great for children to play out and forget about technology. Wonderful experience for all from marshmallows on the fire, to playing on the trampoline and enjoying a bbq with wonderful views.

  • We had an excellent stay here, it exceeded expectations. There are lots of thoughtful touches, which really make your stay comfortable. The weather was mixed when we stayed, but there is still a lot to see and do in the area even in the rain! Lots of nice pubs and villages to visit. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Fairfield's Barn is such a fantastic place to stay. Amazing finish throughout the property and all the facilities you need. It is very clean with all the mod cons, fantastic kitchen! Louise is a great host, so helpful with easy communication. Had a lovely time catching up with friends. Will definitely stay again, looking forward to arranging our next visit!

  • Gorgeous barn, even better than the listing shows. Beautiful stylish decor and fittings and lots of lovely touches like gowns and flip flops for the hot tub and PlayStations in the upstairs rooms. The hot tub has Bluetooth connectivity so you can play your music while relaxing in the bubbles. There are lovely walks and bike rides in the area. Recommend the family bike ride at Fineshade woods. Lots of manor houses/castles in the area that open from Easter. The barn is on a farm at the outskirts of the village next to the road and is semi detached to another 4 bedroom barn next door, whose layout is slightly different. The village has a pub but we didn’t try it - I imagine it’s about a 15/20 minute walk, about a third of which is along a fast country road with no pavement, so suggest you bring torches. There’s a Co-op 5 minutes away in the next village for food top ups and plenty of big supermarkets within 15/20 minutes drive.

    Lucy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic place, and lovely host! The interior design was fabulous, the hot tub was gorgeous and the beds were divine! Such a lovely time.

    Larissa2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect. It is the middle of nowhere, however close enough to shops if you’re needing anything. Great enclosed area for the dogs with so many fields for the dogs to be walked around. The accommodation is so stylish and spacious. Great little touches with the light up stair case which can be changed colours, the blue tooth music in the hot tub and playstations in the rooms upstairs. We were only the second group to stay and we couldn’t fault it. We have been going away for new year for years and I feel like Goldilocks who has found her perfect porridge. The hot tub is great to relax and also plays music through it which was perfect. There is another converted barn attached to our one we stayed in however I wouldn’t have even known people we’re staying there we couldn’t hear them. Louise and her husband are brilliant hosts. Nothing is too much to ask - very accommodating. I can not recommend enough.

My place is close to restaurants and dining in Market Harborough or friendly village pubs. There are many attractions locally and family-friendly activities, and nightlife. You’ll love the outdoors space and light, with bridleways and a tree lined driveway. The ambiance, the neighbourhood, and the comfy beds, not to mention the farmhouse breakfast. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
The converted barns have their own access, desk, wi-fi and ensuite bathrooms. Getting ready for a wedding or event - just ask if you need an iron or taxi etc.
Set in the rolling hills of Northamptonshire, we have lots of space, you are not isolated and can come and go as you please. Only 1 1/2 miles from the local town.
  • A lovely quiet area, wonderful host and the breakfast was delicious. Very clean rooms with all the comforts of home. Would definitely stay if in the area again.

Unique luxury self-catering accommodation in a self-contained wing of our beautiful barn conversion in 13 acres of stunning countryside. The perfect place for a country getaway to relax and unwind. Perched on a hill with breathtaking views just outside the idyllic, historic village of Hallaton. Easy access to Uppingham, Oakham and Market Harborough, with Stamford and Leicester further afield. Great walking and cycling on your doorstep or just switch off, chill out and enjoy the space.
Stunning large ground floor open plan living area (70M2) with high vaulted ceiling and log burner. Sitting area, dining area with table for 6, full size pool table and dart board. Bar/kitchenette fitted with domino hob, double oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and 2 'pub' style beer chillers. Outside is a large private decked garden area (155m2) with gas BBQ, table for 8, rattan sofa and 2 sunbeds with stunning panoramic countryside views. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all located on the lower subterranean floor, accessed via stairs. There is a master bedroom with king sized bed and en-suite shower room. A further bedroom with king sized bed and a small twin with 2 single beds with both rooms sharing a second shower room with walk in shower. All bedrooms have french doors leading out onto an airy decked garden area (42M2) with table and chairs. There is ample secure parking for several cars and access is via electric gates from a long driveway.
Hallaton is an idyllic and historic village recently listed in The Times top ten best UK villages to live in. It is home the the ancient and unique custom of Bottle Kicking which is held each Easter Monday. There are many great walking and cycle routes and bridleways right on our doorstep. Two village pubs which are within walking distance - but it is uphill on the way home !! We also have a unique award winning museum which is open at weekends during the summer months and a village church. We are surrounded by lots of other lovely villages to explore with great pubs and restaurants.
  • Tracey's accommodation more than met our expectations for a long weekend away with friends (three couples). Great space, amazing views from an expansive terrace, pool (the potting balls type not the swimming type!!), darts, woodburner …. everything you could want. Short walk into pretty village with two pubs. All finished to a high standard and very clean.

    Jane2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent sociable property, ideal for a get together with friends. Large and comfortable rooms which are tastefully decorated. Plenty of fridge space. Large and well equipped outdoor area with far reaching views, though unfortunately the weather meant we didn't get to use it! A nice touch having the pool table and dart board. A short walk to the village where there a 2 local pubs which serve food. Probably not an ideal property if you were wanting to cook a fancy meal for a large number of people, as there is only a small oven and 2 electric rings - but this was fine for our needs. Would love to return in nicer weather and get to use the barbeque!

  • We had an amazing stay at the retreat. The space is incredible for entertaining (bar, pool table, darts, sky sports and movies) and the village is very picturesque and beautiful. The pub recommendations from Tracey were second to none, incredible food in gorgeous pubs. We had a fantastic weekend break and will definitely be coming back again! Guy

  • The Retreat was perfect for us. Lots of space both indoors and out. We made equal use of the pool table, the darts board and the huge outdoor space thanks to some great British weather. We enjoyed a walk through the fields to The Fox in Hallaton which we would highly recommend, both for the friendly welcome and the excellent food. The accommodation was first class. Spotlessly clean, super comfortable beds, great kitchen facilities, good showers and lots of privacy. Would absolutely go back - like a shot!

The West Wing at Barn Owl Hollow was a cowshed and is now a spacious and comfortable room overlooking a pretty courtyard in a converted barn. It has a wonderful countryside location and views. Full en-suite & Tea / coffee making facilities. Market Harborough 10 mins.
The West Wing (during the conversion we hadn't decided on a final use for this part of the house so we called it the West Wing and it has stuck) is a very spacious and characterful ground floor double room overlooking a pretty courtyard. The West Wing has an en-suite with shower and bath. Although entry is via the shared front door your room is then on its own at the west of the building, linked to the kitchen for breakfast by a short glass walkway. While I have not ticked the "child friendly" box it is only because the room has only a double bed. If you have a baby/toddler and have a travel cot that should not be a problem. Do let us know when you book. It is in a converted barn situated in private 10 acre grounds recently planted with some woodland which you are welcome to explore. The country view is wonderful and we are in the middle of a good walking route (across "The Langton Caudle" ). It is home to Bird on the Hand falconry experiences so we have a host of birds of prey to look at. Our nearest neighbours are half a mile away so we have a very peaceful location.
We are 4 miles from Market Harborough and 13 miles from Leicester with easy access to all the local attractions, including Rutland Water, Foxton Locks, The Space Centre, King Richard III Museum and Eyebrook Reservoir with lots of opportunities for walking, cycling, boating and fishing. We also have birds of prey which you may visit or you could book for a falconry session during your stay with us. Details of the falconry can be found on the web just search for Bird On The Hand falconry Leicestershire.
  • We had a wonderful stay with Andrew and Evelyn - they were great host, the room place was cozy and spotless, and breakfast was delicious. It was the perfect base for visiting Bird Fair.

  • A very hospitable couple who were extremely helpful in many ways from giving us directions to various places, coming up with a stamp we needed urgently and a warm coat suitable for a wonderful morning's experience with the owls and falcons Andrew trains. Thank you for a great experience.

  • Stayed here as part of our days bird handling experience. We were welcomed by Evelyn who showed us to a large , attractive room with sitting, sleeping and bathroom facilities, all spotlessly clean . She made us a tray of tea and told us to feel free to wander around the gardens and sit in the attractive courtyard garden which opened out from our accommodation. We immediately felt at home. She recommended a place to eat out which proved to be excellent. After a comfortable nights sleep we were invited into the family's kitchen where a good choice of breakfast items were laid out. After our brilliant day bird handling, Evelyn was there to see us off. Altogether an excellent experience with very friendly, helpful hosts and perfect accommodation which really was amazing value for money. Highly recommended.

Lovely little touches and a cosy, clean and unique place to stay while we explored nearby areas and the national space centre. The hot tub was amazing too, even in the chilly evenings. • A great little ‘hideaway’. The accommodation is in a safari tent with a full bathroom and lovely little kitchen area. The outside space is lovely and the gas BBQ offers extra cooking arrangements. We stayed in October so the evenings were chilly but we stocked up the wood burner and enjoyed a cosy evening. We made sure our phones were charged and took portable chargers as there’s no electricity. It was a lovely quiet and peaceful space.

  • Beautiful accomodation set in a beautiful location. Plenty for children to do and a lovely break from the hustle and bustle and daily technology. Was great to use the fire pit for marshmellows, the bbq for evening meals and the hot tub to relax in after. Would definitely consider a return visit.
