    Regency Downs, QLD, Australia

Located on 160 hectares of native bush and high on the Minden Hills the Retreat provides spectacular views of the Lockyer Valley and surrounds. It is home to native animals such as wallabies, kangaroos, goannas, echidnas and an amazing variety of native birds and butterflies. The accommodation is fully eco, off the grid – solar powered with state of the art gel batteries, gas for cooking and with its own septic and grey water sanitation system.
This destination is only 50 minutes from Brisbane and can access a well-established service township only 13 k away to replenish supplies if required. Apart from the ambience and native animal distractions, gazing up at the Milky Way and star systems at night is amazing and the light show from storms racing down the valleys to Brisbane and the coast can be breath-taking, The Retreat is fully furnished and guests are able to either bring their own food or prepare vegetarian store cupboard meal that are provided. It has a large open plan living system, two double bedrooms upstairs. Front and back has a large open decked area and the walls are ceiling to floor lightly tinted glass.
  • Beautiful spot overlooking the valley. Very peaceful and private

  • Our second stay here, invited family members on this occasion, they were equally impressed. Fabulous accommodation, stunning views, tranquil environment. Thumbs up all round..

    Tyrone2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely beautiful spot.Really tranquil and a perfect spot for gazing at the night sky and getting away from the city. You can still drive to townships within a short time for supplies. The house is very relaxed so would suit travelers with children and/or pets. It is well designed with the large windows and balconies and spacious rooms. We didn't spend much time there as we were visiting family in the area but it would be a great getaway for some downtime

  • Awesome views - very relaxing

    Barbara2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Patricia's place. An amazing wonderland of native bush animals to discover. We loved feeding the gorgeous possums, chooks, ducks, geese and turkeys. The view from the deck is amazing. We loved waking up the wallabies in the garden and birds singing and flitting in trees outside our bedroom. The house is huge, comfortable and fully equipped with amenities. My parents and family loved the native bush experience.

The kitchen comes with a bench top stove in the cupboard. Low cars may struggle with the drive way. Definitely look forward to visiting in the future.

Private quest suite, the rear side of our home - surrounded by trees and birdsong. Great for country breaks away or a base to explore the Lockyer valley. Pet friendly - your four legged friend can have the run of the large fully fenced back garden, with shade (can sleep inside). Relax under the large covered entertainment deck and look at the view, with your coffee or lie in the hammock, curl up on the outside sofa and enjoy a good book or siesta.
At the rear of our home is a private guest suite which includes - bedroom with comfy queensize bed, tv with telstra on demand, built in robe and ceiling fan. A private study with desk and chair for lap top use. Separate toilet and bathroom (with bath and shower). The laundry (in which we have created a kitchenette) has washing machine, microwave, small fridge, jug, toaster rice cooker, slow cooker and essential kitchen supplies. The guest suite is adjacent to our large dining area, that we don't often use - so is quiet. Outside there is a shared large undercover entertainment space with table and chairs and a hammock to lie back with that good book and listen to and watch the birds.
We are in a quiet street with large 1.5-2 acre properties, 5-6 mins from Laidley. Lake Dyer is close by (walkable), great for barbecues, fishing, boating, water skiing - permits needed. We are a 5 min drive to Bramwell House, 12 mins to Gatton UQ campus, 15 mins from Spicers Hidden Vale, 20 mins to Gatton. There are many farmers markets in the small villages sprinkled around the Lockyer valley that are great to explore. Laidley is a lovely country town in the heart of the Lockyer Valley. Antique lampposts still line the main street. There is a swimming pool, Heritage Pioneer Village. The information centre has a cafe and museum attached. A golf club that does meals on a Friday evening. There is an IGA supermarket, two bakeries, chemist, an antique shop, op shops to discover treasure in and other shops. There are a number of places to eat out - including Eagle Rock Café, with an old Jukebox and a 1950’s theme; the Britannia hotel which has live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. The QN Hotel (we recommend the lamb roast for two!) a Chinese and Indian take-away.
  • so nice person, very clean bedroom s,and give us a lot of work information, very comfortable living environment.

  • we booked Raia's place last minute on the day we hoped to stay... A public holiday. She responded very promptly and without fuss. Raia was welcoming and obviously very organised. Meet Tabitha, our off grid Tiny House On Wheels! She’s more than meets the eye, and a great base to explore the scenic Lockyer Valley. Tabitha is located on my Mum and Dad’s 60 acre hobby farm. The main house is 20 metres away from Tabitha, so there’s plenty of privacy. You can also have as much or as little to do with the locals (animals) as you like. Whether it’s just a quick stop or a longer winter break, marsh mellows by the fire is a great place to start for your siesta in the county!
Fancy yourself a giant cubby house? Tabitha is off the grid, with a fully functional kitchen and full size bathroom. The loft also features a king size bed.
Laidley is situated in the heart of the Lockyer Valley, or Queensland’s “salad bowl”. Explore local farmers markets, cafes, quirky boutiques, national parks or simply get to know the locals! - 45 minutes to Toowoomba - 40 minutes to Ipswich - 1 hour to Brisbane
  • What a great tiny home. Very cosey and comfortable!

    Max2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Tabitha is a beautiful home that shows off tiny home loving! Even though it is a cosy space, it had everything that we needed. It was lovely to sip a coffee while overlooking the farm in the morning and then seeing the stars shining so bright at night.

  • Tabitha is a cute tiny house 🏠 which fulfils all your weekend away needs. An awesome experience being self contained within 18 sq/m. Handy to town as only 5 minutes from Laidley where there is an IGA, bottlo, pubs, cafes, PO. Great hospitality from Angie who is truly the hostess with the mostest!

    Stephanie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tabitha is a gorgeous little house with so much character! Angie and her Mother made us feel welcome and the animals on the farm are adorable! A must do experience for anyone who loves tiny houses!

    Vicki2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I throughly enjoyed our stay in Tabitha. We were staying to check out how we would feel about living in our own Tiny House. Angie and Tabitha were both inspirational and very informative. Thanks for the wonderful stay.

    Zane2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Angie's tiny house. Its a Tiny house with Big personality, its definitely more spacious that we imagined. At night we had an amazing stargazing over the bonfire (that Angie's prepared before we arrived) accompanied by her super friendly 3 musketeers (doggies) that wants nothing but pat and belly rub. Laidley and its neighbouring town, its such a sleepy town with so much history to discover. Definitely will recommend this to anyone to experience and discover!

    Francois2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tabitha is a very special place and an amazing get away for those who want to disconnect from the city. Angie is amazing, she made us feel home within 5 minutes of conversation. Highly reccomended!

Situated on a hobby farm of 7 acres, this is a private and quiet place to stay, the property is only 1 year old, built with eco sustainability in mind. We're approx 2kms off the highway with easy access to explore the Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Ipswich regions. The local communities and shops of Rosewood and Marburg are a 10 min drive. We may be at home during your stay, but you'll have privacy and may see us around feeding the cattle and chooks. There is parking for a trailer if needed.
We designed and built the house and moved in just over a year ago. The house was designed to incorporate elements of passive design to minimise the energy it requires, and has a 6 star energy rating. We harvest our own water, have a water treatment plant on the property and generate electricity via solar panels. The long term aim is to install a solar battery which will enable us to be completely off grid. The area is quiet and peaceful, yet only a minute to the highway for easy access, we're approx half way between Brisbane and Toowoomba.
There are a variety of coffee shops, cafe's, an antique shop in Marburg and several country pubs close by which have great food. The scenery around the neighbourhood is gorgeous with lots of country drives; there are also several golf courses near by if golf is your thing. In Rosewood, you'll find a selection of shops and a supermarket. Our location is great to explore the nearby places in the Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Somerset and Lockyer Valley regions.
  • Incredibly clean, lovely and helpful host who even went out of her way to get us our special milk. Beautiful surroundings and a big space for a family of 3.

  • The cabin was very clean and with all the amenities. It’s only about 30minutes from Laidley which was just perfect for me. The different birds that visited throughout the day made it very special for me. I hope to stay again. Michele.

Fantastic family home and grounds, perfect for entertaining, family get-togethers, holidays or weekend retreats. Kids and adults alike will enjoy feeding the chickens, exploring the gardens and playing with the games and toys provided. Relax in the morning sunshine on the front deck with a coffee and take delight in the abundant bird life. Entertain on the rear deck in the evening and watch the sun set behind the hills before enjoying the spectacular night sky or the five person jacuzzi.
The home has been configured to cater for larger family groups and includes many children toys, games, books and puzzles and a slippery slide off the back deck. However, the modern design and style of the home also makes it ideal for corporate seminars and get-togethers of family or friends without children. The home also includes a billiard table, ping pong table, jacuzzi, games and entertaining space which would appeal to older teens and adults.
Laidley is a lovely country town in the heart of the Lockyer Valley (Australia's veggie bowl). The town has kept it's heritage appeal with many local businesses retaining their traditional store fronts. Walking through town, it is evident that the local community loves their town as they actively support the local businesses and the Friday town market and have fought to keep the antique lampposts that line the main street. There are two bakeries, a chemist and an antiek shop and a well stocked IGA in town. There are also a number of eateries including Eagle Rock Cafe, Kelly's Take-Away, QN Hotel and a Chinese take-away, The Britannia does do take a way diners. Our favourite place in town though, is a little gift and homewares shop called Potato Studio (reviewed in more detail in our guest book) which stocks and presents unique items in a beautiful space . If you come here via the Warrego Highway, at Plainland you will find a Woolworths (open all weekend) and the famous butcher Schultes.
  • This house had everything we needed for a great stay with our 15 month old son. John and Flora were friendly and responsive. We hope to be back one day!

  • John and Flora were both wonderful hosts. The home is immaculate with every possible creature comforts available. I would most certainly recommend this property for any people wanting to stay in this region. We had four children in our group and there was more than enough room for them and the adults without being on top of each other. Regards Caroline (Sunshine Coast)

  • We enjoyed a terrific few night at John and Flora’s home. We were in Laidley for a family wedding and this home allowed 3 sisters and husbands (who all live in different states!) and Mother to all be staying at the one venue, which meant we could all catch up properly! The home is spacious and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay (and more!) We couldn’t recommend it highly enough! Thanks John and Flora!

  • Graham and the others had a fantastic stay for 3 weeks while they were working at the Gatton College. It was perfect for them to come back to a lovely home and being able to their cook meals, watch abit of tv & sleep in beautiful, comfortable beds. We will definitely book again if there is more work in the area. Thank you Dave & Jo for a wonderful stay! Kind regards Kelley

  • It’s an absolute amazing place to relax, beautiful views and outstanding hospitality.

    Anna2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I can never understand when owners don't offer a sun lounge chair when they have decks with stunning views and I'm nearly always disappointed BUT not this time!!! Not one, but two chairs, awaited us and I think there was one day when we spent all day on the deck in those chairs, reading, napping and enjoying the amazing view. So nice to see and hear the cows and horses wandering by, let alone giving the chooks some leftovers. When we eventually entered the house, it was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. And the beds were comfortable. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants some peace and country hospitality.

  • This is a lovely cabin that we chose due to its location for a wedding we attended nearby. It was a streamline lock box check in process and we really felt we had the place to ourselves! The surrounding area was calm and picturesque. The inside was clean and tidy and very homely, it was set up well with towels for each guest etc. We would recommend this place as great value for money and a really nice little retreat! Would return for sure! Didn’t meet the hosts in person but they were great at responding and Steve helped us locate a phone that had been misplaced, which was great. Thanks a lot For a pleasant stay!

We are positioned in the Lockyer Valley where the scenery is magnificent! The downstairs of our house is self contained and has a private entrance. The space is quite large and can easily accommodate 6 people. Extra people up to 12 at $10 pp/pn. It has 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom. All windows and doors have security screens. You are welcome to meet and interact with all the animals. Long or short stays are fine. We all can’t wait to hear from you. All backgrounds will be made welcome.
Our place is a newly renovated and lifted Queenslander. The real deal as the house is over 50 years old and has all the charm that only this kind of local house can provide! The downstairs of our house is all yours and is fully self contained and has 2 private entrances. We have given it a relaxing, beach decor that will destress you as soon as you arrive. It has 2 bedrooms that both have security screens on all doors and windows, so they can be left open to get that afternoon breeze. While there is a tv, unfortunately there is no aerial connection so we have provided a DVD player and lots of dvds. There are many of your favourite board games, cards and poker chips and a PlayStation 2 with over 100 games to choose from! We are on Vodaphone and it works well here for reception, we also provide WIFI so your phones and iPads won’t have any problems and you can watch tv on demand. This is for browsing only and NOT for downloading. There are also security cameras that monitor and record the outdoor, farm area so all cars and possessions are kept safe at all times. We have gone over and beyond to provide you with a wonderful place to stay with so many extras that it’s hard to mention them all. Breakfast is provided for you to cook with fresh eggs, bread, milk, spaghetti, baked beans and lots of different coffee and teas. Our aim is for you to be surprised at all the extra touches and worry about nothing but relaxing and enjoying your well deserved time off. You are welcome to meet and greet with all the animals as most of them are rescues and have come to our farm to have rehabilitation or to finally get their forever home. All are friendly but children do need to be supervised for their own safety when interacting with them. Please know that your stay with us benefits them all! There is a large, fenced, outdoor entertainment area of your own to use the bbq, Dart board, hammock, large table and chairs, a fire pit and there’s also your own clothesline and clothes horse in case it’s raining. People traveling with animals or livestock are certainly welcome as we can accommodate all fur friends in paddocks, yards and small enclosures. As we have a long driveway, There is no problem with cars with trailers, boats or caravans of any size, trucks ( including carrying livestock) and RVs. Camping is also fine on our property if you would prefer the more basic approach to your stay. You can set up your own tent or we have some available for your convenience. This can also help if you need your teenager to have some extra space as tents can be set up close to the house. Please discuss this option, if needed, when booking. Long or short stays are fine. We all can’t wait to hear from you. All backgrounds will be made welcome, like we would our own family.
All rural and farms surrounding. Did you know that a lot of the produce that graces the plates of Australian dinner tables are grown in this area. Atkinson dam is 5kms away. Tarampa and Lowood are only 15 mins. Fernvale and Gatton are 20 km and a great run for supplies. All these suburbs have wonderful taverns where you can get a lovely pub meal every night of the week for a very affordable price. Atkinson dam is only 5 mins away while Clarendon and Wivenhoe are a short drive. The information centre in Gatton has a car, truck and art museum, an old village of restoration buildings from around the area, and a great cafe. They also can provide you with any free handouts of destinations around here. There is a massive, public swimming pool there at Gatton as well if you need a quick dip (closed in July for maintenance). There is a rock and roll cafe 20 mins from there and lots of morning and afternoon tea venues if you want to take a nice drive in any direction. There are wineries, cheese and olive farms everywhere out here. You can continue up the range to Toowoomba and check out some lookouts and have lunch at the golf club that have great specials on top quality food like oysters. If you drive the other way you can explore Mt Crosby and Mt Glorious which are more of a rain forest setting. Come back and stop at Fernvale for the Wivenhoe dam which supplies all of the water to Brisbane. They have a famous bakery there that has won many awards for there selection of over 100 pies and we have the greatest markets around the area on weekends. As mentioned beforehand, All the pubs around us serve great counter meals at country prices. The Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are only 2 hours away if you want to spend a day at the most beautiful beaches in Australia. There are travel brochures in your airb&b space for you to make more plans if needed. Hope this is helpful. Thanks Michaela and Linda

  • Liz was a great, no-fuss host and this was a great spot as a central point to explore the Locker Valley, and to attend the Toowoomba carnival of flowers. The accom was spotless, comfortable, a nice setup for short or extended stays, at a great price. The tranquility of the location, and the local wildlife and fresh air was just perfect!

Someone once said, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, not true. An old outbuilding transformed into our 'Rosian Cottage. Set away from our 100 year old Queenslander, this has its own character and a ambience with small deck to enjoy the sunsets nibbling canapes and sipping a glass of vino or a cold beer. Everyone who has visited, sees the Wow factor in this cottage. The outside a like rustic as you might expect from an old rural out building in the country. PETS. Refer manual.

There are horses, dogs, pigs and chickens to pet and bush walks if you would like to see some of our native animals. We have room to park your horse float and are just across the tracks from Rosewood Showgrounds
    Animals by prior arrangement
Beautiful scenery. Native wildlife. Willowbank raceway
  • Yvette and Mark are fantastic hosts and the room has everything you need. Fifteen minutes drive to Queensland Raceway and the cute little town of Rosewood is a short drive down the road. The bacon and eggs breakfast is incredible.

  • Lazy-ass Retreat is the best. Absolutely amazing hosts in Yvette & Mark. Their property is amazing, beautiful friendly animals, close to where I needed to be & close to town. Highly recommend & would love to go back 😁

  • Yvette’s place is absolutely lovely very rustic, the animals are a delight with beautifully behaved dogs, and not so well behaved pigs who gave my granddaughter a kiss on the nose. Would recommend to anyone. Yvette and her husband were fantastic and couldn’t have been more welcoming A+ all the way

    Shelly2019-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • quiet street. near the railway line - BUT only a branch line so little traffic that was unobtrusive. Coal trains went past - but interesting to watch. no streetlights to annoy. BIRDS - beautiful. native trees. wonderful. well controlled friendly dogs. chooks - well HENS for anyone not Australian - but only let out for a scratch. Fun to watch. FRESH AIR - bathroom - clean and convenient - shower - a bit difficult for those who are unfit - BUT older building - and no problem for us to just sponge over... and yes we recommend it and would go there again - older building BUT spacious, fresh - NO artificial smells - HUGE PLUS - ambiance worth much more than we paid. no wifi - who needs it really???

Amberley and Willowbank are a short 10 minutes drive from this 140 year old traditional Queenslander. 1 hour from Brisbane, Toowoomba or Warwick. Relax on the balcony with a good book, or sit by the pot belly stove on a chilly winters day, watching a movie. How about a relaxing soak in the claw foot bath. All before you snuggle down into a comfortable Queen sized bed, topped with hand made patchwork quilts. The rooms are generously large, with wooden floors and 12 foot ceiling.
The rooms are upstairs, on the first floor. Close to the train station, with access from Brisbane airport. As we are located directly opposite the train line, please be aware that freight trains run every hour 24 hours a day. However, previous guests have said the trains were quieter than city traffic noises. The local pub is a short walk down the street, and serves meals.
  • Helen is a super host who would go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed into her beautiful abode. I highly recommend for family with kids or even couples who want to experience a country escape. The place is beautiful both inside & out. Calming water fountains, thriving plants & a lovely relaxing nook at the side of the house. So many lovely personal touches. My daughter was well entertained by the toys & books Helen thoughtfully prepared for us. It was a memorable stay for everyone. Thank you again Helen for opening your doors & welcoming us. Hope we shall meet again.

Rural setting: this is a small working holistic vet establishment on a farm running droughtmaster cattle, a dog, hens, fruit trees and there is enclosed land for wildlife where there are native trees wallabies, kangaroos, anteaters , kookaburras, babblers, bellbirds, black parrots in the autumn, and a mouse eating indoor cat. Sadly pets cannot be hosted. It is asked that you do not feed the animals, and do not walk around the property unless accompanied by the owner.
There is a four bedroom brick house, 3 bedrooms of which are to rent. so ore than one booking can be accommodated at one time. One bedroom could accommodate a couple of kids on collapsible beds if wished. There is one bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a separate toilet. There is pot bellied stove, large but cluttered kitchen freezers, large stove fridge, microwave, coffee machine. There outside fire cooking limited by fire bans, there is no barb b cue, this is the old fashioned way. There is plenty of hot water, and unless a drought hits, plenty of tank fresh water to the house. However water is always to be treated with respect. It is not a suitable B and B for cat allergic people.
The neighbourhood is unique because of its beauty, its wildlife, and it lack of pollution.
  • Great hospitality. Beautiful property nice and quiet only 10min into Gatton. Dr Charissa is absolutely wonderful to talk to I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

    Aimee2018-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Charissa was very welcoming and friendly and we had some great conversations. She went out of her way to make us comfortable and her breakfasts were wonderful. Her property is quiet and beautiful and it was lovely having Rabbits the kelpie and Witchette the cat there, because we miss our pets so much.

    Leny2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dr Charissa made me feel at home the second I arrived. I had a late flight and arrived at the accommodation in the dark. Dr Charissa made me the best home-made pumpkin soup and help me settle in. The farm is stunning, with walking trails and animals to observe. Breakfasts are delicious and filling. I couldn't have asked for a better host and venue for my very short stay in Gatton.

    Nikita2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • How wonderful to wake up to the sound of cows in the meadow, chickens in the distance and birds babbling in the trees outside my window. Amazing! If you are looking for a squeaky clean environment with first class facilities this is not for you. This is a working farm, filled with Charissa’s wisdom, warmth and love of the environment and humanity. Good food, a comfy snuggly bed and animals all around are extras . From the first point of contact this was an experience I will treasure and hope to relive sometime in the future. Thank you Charissa for making me feel so welcome.

    Margaret2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Dr Charissa proved to be just the type of AirBnB host we love. Very warm and welcoming. Great conversations....first in front of a lovely wood fire until late in the evening and then again next morning. Our room was very clean, warm and comfortable. And she went overboard with breakfast. So good we almost couldn't drag ourselves away.

  • We had a lovely stay in this quiet country spot. Sharon’s generous hospitality was overwhelming. Great tea selection and fruit bowl, great breakfast and the lemon coconut slice was delish. Everything was clean. Only sorry we didn’t get a chance to use the big tv or the pool table before we checked out. Andrew and Dale

  • Sharon was a wonderful host, even offering to go over and above the call of duty of an Airbnb host to help out my husband and I. The room was clean and very comfortable and the home was set amongst beautiful surroundings. We were sad we couldn't stay longer.
