This was our second visit to Cat's Cove. We had a lovely weekend at the cottage. Having the pool available is a wonderful aspect of this property. And Kathy is a marvelous host. I cannot recommend this place enough for those that are looking for a quiet peaceful time away on the Northern Neck.

Everything was just perfect! The cabin was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the hostess had everything we needed to be relaxed and enjoy our weekend away! We loved the porch on the cabin and listening to the water and wildlife! Her garden flowers were beautiful! Kathy was so welcoming!

This cozy little cottage was perfect place to getaway and disconnect. Located steps from the water, fishing was easy! Very comfortable surroundings and the best nights sleep we have had in months!

A gorgeous stay. My partner and I stumbled upon Kathy’s cabin on AirBNB, and we feel so lucky to have found it. Kathy could not be more of a gracious hostess, and the setting was absolutely stunning.

Kathy and Charlie were fantastic hosts with a gorgeous property. The cabin was easy to find, and Kathy welcomed us and showed us around. We had everything we needed and had a blast kayaking, relaxing on the waterfront screened in porch, feeding the goats, swimming in the pool, and hanging out. This is a perfect place to get away from it all, and you’ll feel the stress melt away immediately. We enjoyed every aspect of the trip and can’t wait to come back.

Cats Cove is truly a beautiful piece of heaven that has the sweetest hostess! The cottage was clean and cozy with the most breath taking view. The bed was extremely comfortable! We will definitely be going back and anyone thinking about staying here should! -Kristi and Brian

If you are looking for a relaxing peaceful weekend then look no further!! This was the BEST experience and stay I’ve ever had on air bnb! Kathy and Charlie were excellent and welcoming hosts. The cottage is literally sitting on the water and the grounds are amazing. Don’t look elsewhere! You will not be disappointed. We also found amazing restaurants in Reedville on the water! We will be back to experience every season :)

Cats Cove is a little paradise on the Northern Neck. The views and wildlife are endless. The hosts are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They are very accommodating. Also, the local restaurants has some of the best seafood I have ever tasted. We would recommend Angelo's Pizza Co in Montross. They have a to die for seafood steamer with crab legs, clams, oysters and shrimp. No sauce needed it was so fresh. Also, the pizza was incredible.

Kate’s place is very well described. It is roomy and neat as a pin. We will very definitely stay at here again. Kate responds quickly and clearly. Kinsale is a beautiful place to be.

Beautiful place, amazing view from the kitchen!

This was a small lovely place! Our group really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back. The view was amazing and all the necessities were prepared for us.

I really wish I hadn't been traveling for work so that I could've taken advantage of the lovely waterfront location - the sunrise from the kitchen is beautiful over the water! Kate's home is not only in a great location, but it is extremely clean and well-stocked. Kate provided us with everything we needed for our trip. She was also extremely responsive and accommodating, couldn't recommend this place more!

This was a perfect weekend getaway. The cottage has been nicely updated and the view from the kitchen is worth the drive. We have two kids and this was the perfect place for us to crash for a weekend on the Northern Neck. The house is nice but not so nice that you are scared to let your kids touch anything. Very clean with everything you need. It very much felt like home. We enjoyed walking down the docks and watching the wildlife. We grabbed some local crabs and had a feast on the deck/dock. There are a couple places within five minutes that cook them fresh to order (when in season). Overall, awesome trip.

Two couples who were visiting Kinsale last weekend asked me to find an Airbnb place for them to stay. They couldn't have been more pleased with Morningtide Cottage. The location was perfect, an easy short walk to the village. They loved the view, the layout, and the furnishings. Everything was neat and clean and comfortable. They can't wait to return!

The place is great! We really loved the view and the water access. I recommend bringing a small boat, rafts, or kayaks. The house was very clean and ready for guests.

Amazing house, can't recommend enough! The area is beautiful and quiet with a private lake dock. The house feels more like a home than like an Airbnb, with great appliances + kitchen cookware (small detail but nice touch). We easily slept 8 people.

The Kinsale Guest house is a perfect little gem. It's a darling little home that had everything that we needed for our stay in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Garrett and Jacqueline were very informative and helpful not only about the house but the area and things to do and see. Check in and Check out were a breeze. We were there for a wedding and Jacqueline dropped off a full size ironing board for us to use on the dresses. The theme of the house is nautical and very lovely and extremely well appointed with lots of little amenities that I was so glad were available, like the full size coffee pot, iron and ironing board, washer and dryer and the full kitchen. Plenty of towels and the bathroom was very bright. The master bedroom bed was quite comfy. It is a darling old home that I will be more than happy to book again. Next time we will be sure to be there when the weather is a little warmer to take advantage of some of the other amenities. So very pleased with our stay!

I was so impressed at how cute and spacious the home was. A beautifully decorated and updated home. Plenty of towels and all so clean. The bed! It was so comfortable. Love the hardwood floors and nautical decorating theme. Lovely neighborhood as well. The owners made sure I had a simple check-in and gave me information I needed to make my stay very comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.

I rented the Kinsale Guest House for two English friends who were visiting last weekend. One is in her early 60s. The other, her godmother, is 89. They were delighted with the Guest House. It is very clean, bright, and attractively decorated. They both slept well in the comfortable beds. Neither had any problem climbing the carpeted stairs to reach their bedrooms. Jacqueline couldn't have been easier to work with. All questions were quickly answered. The check-in process was a cinch. I highly recommend the Kinsale Guest House!

This home is absolutely amazing! Sparkling clean and has absolutely everything you could possibly need!

We booked this for a weekend vacation in charming Kinsale and had a wonderful stay. The house is right in the heart of the village and an easy walk down to the river. Garrett & Jacqueline were quick to respond & assist with our trip, offering a lot of great tips on what to do in the area. Highly recommend this as a home base if you’re looking to spend time in the Northern Neck!

Charming older home with modern amenities nestled in the beautiful historic town of Kinsale on Virginia’s Northern Neck. The area is very quiet and peaceful where locals wave to you when passing by. The house was immaculate and offered many conveniences. The owners were very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend staying here!

Relaxed cottage with a beautiful view of the water.

I can't speak more highly of our stay at Narrows Beach. We booked the the trip to unwind, unplug, and relax. The house couldn't have been a better place for all three! The house was spacious and comfortable; and the pictures don't do it justice how lovely it is to have water so close and all around you! We ate plenty of local oysters, went kayaking, grabbed a beer or two at Coles Point Tavern, had a tasting at Hague Winery, and relaxed at the house! It was great that our dog was able to come along for the journey as well! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for similar activities or just want to get a way for a few days. One note, I found a couple of the other reviews outdated saying that there was a limited number of pots/pans, utensils, and gadgets. We found the house to be fully stocked with everything we needed!

The please was amazing. Perfect to get away unplug and just do some fishing and crabbinh. We caught about 3 dozen crabs some stripe bass and some crokers.

If you want to be right on the water in a charming comfortable cottage this is a great place. Nice and very helpful folks. You'll enjoy your stay.

If you are an early riser, make sure you go out back and sit. It is amazing!!!

This was an amazing little find! We brought our son here for a small birthday getaway because he loves to fish. The kayak, and private dock were perfect. He fished from sun up to sun down. It was a beautiful spot to just relax for a few days. I highly recommend visiting this little gem. We hope to get back another time!

This cottage is a true gem! The location is fabulous! The sparkling water shining through the windows every morning was magical. The house was super clean, contained all the things we needed, including paddle board, canoe and kayak (with life jackets for everyone!!), and was so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. Tammy’s cottage is amazing - the perfect refuge in the perfect place. Comfortably sleeps six, with fully-equipped kitchen and a million lovely touches. We were in the water as much as we could be every day, kids had so much fun crabbing, we ate great at nearby spots and at the cottage, and overall had a wonderful time. Tammy’s communication was prompt and clear - so easy to work with. No question, we’d definitely stay here again!

Mom & Pop’s is a wonderful property right on the river. The house itself is cute and charming with a lot of history to it. Nicely appointed kitchen with decent tools & cookware, and a gas grill outside with grilling tools. Really enjoyed the screened in porches for watching the kids play with the pup, or just watching the occasional boat pass by. If you follow the shoreline to the right (Easterly), there’s a little path you can take to a strip of beach. Really cute, fun place to visit. Thanks Nancy!

It was a fun location; perfect for kids, with a small sandy beach and a gradual increase in the depth of the water. We enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and watching the hawks and bald eagles. Nancy worked us in after a last-minute booking, and was a gracious hostess!

Lovely, charming cottage on the bay. Very relaxing. Bald eagle soaring above, fish jumping out of the water, boats cruising by, very peaceful and picturesque. Our dog loved the little beach area, we loved the serenity, was a total win for everyone. Nancy and her husband were awesome hosts, very nice and informative. The place was amazingly clean and fully stocked with everything you might need. We had a much needed stay from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. $30/dozen crabs were right down the road.

This home is charming with fantastic views! It's a great place to relax and wind down. The welcoming touches like fresh flowers were particularly nice. The front screen in porch was the perfect place to sit in the evening and watch the spectacular heat lightening! We highly recommend this beautiful home and location!

A clean home with sweet touches such as fresh flowers in every room, a bottle of wine when you arrive and the invitation to pick fresh veggies from the garden and herb garden located off the back porch. Beautiful breezes while you sit on one of the two screened in porches, begging you to stop and slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet Mom and Pops house offers. I felt as if the world stopped and I was back in simpler times with no worries in the world. I will be coming back!

Si Paradise was the best experience we had so far. It was much better than we had expected! It was a quiet private neighborhood with their own pier and campfire. The way they decorated their home made us feel very welcome and warm. Our two kids loved staying here so it definitely is a kid friendly place. They have a trampoline bikes for adults a golf cart etc~ and there is also a lighthouse museum very close by (you can walk or take the golf cart there) which was cool~ It is a perfect place for a family getaway!

We were in town for a wedding and chose Bluebird cottage for it's proximity to the venue. The location, pool, dock, etc. were definitely a bonus. The most important thing to me is cleanliness. I usually end up cleaning before I unpack at hotels or rentals, but that was absolutely not necessary in this case. The home was spotless. It was well stocked. Our check in was easy. Our host was friendly and super accommodating. He was always quick to respond. The pictures online are nice, but the home is even nicer than the pictures show. Our family of 5 had a very nice stay and would certainly return!

This house provides a restful and peaceful visit. We spent our time catching crabs, watching the Osprey, and relaxing by the pool.

Richard and Laura’s place is a wonderful cottage with breathtaking views of the Yeocomico River. The cottage was like a home away from home. The details of it were so warm and cozy. Their hospitality was above and beyond. We enjoyed our stay and our grandchildren enjoyed spending time with Richard and Laura’s grandchildren. We can’t wait to return again.

As stated by a previous renter, the pictures don’t even do justice to how beautiful this spot really is. Rich and his wife (who were great and friendly hosts) have an amazing estate, with a sparkling clean pool and a cottage that is spacious and well equipped for all the cooking we did. Even with Tupperware for meal prep which was a big bonus for us. But the crab traps were a huge hit and was a big highlight during our stay! We went to a beach nearby to do some shark tooth searching and were overjoyed to give some to Rich so others may come to the area and be inspired to do so as well- it was a very special experience for myself, husband, and baby boy. We cannot wait to return!

The cottage was cozy for me and my husband. It was stylish and clean. The recommendations for restaurants were great. We loved going to Chiefs for dinner. The hosts were very responsive. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away.

The bungalow is exrremely quaint. They have thought of everything you might possibly need. The sunsets are amazing.

Robert is a great host and very quick to respond. The house was very clean and well appointed. There needs were very comfortable and there were lots of extra sheets, towels, and blankets. We rented this space so we could cycle in the area. We loved the area! Reluctant Navigator had amazing oysters! Robert’s place was stylish and was set up with a lot of amenities, especially the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay.

Clifford’s home in Piney Point was the perfect place for our family gathering. Our niece, who lives nearby, recently gave birth and her Mom (our sister) is visiting from overseas. The aunts and uncles traveled from various states north and south to meet the new addition, as well as catch up with each other. Clifford’s place was the perfect location and spacious enough to accommodate all our needs for family dinners, sleeping and relaxing. In the evenings, we enjoyed sipping cocktails on the front porch watching the spectacular sunsets over the Potomac. We have stayed at many Airbnbs over the years, none as well stocked as Cliffords. He has thought of EVERYTHING and then some. We highly recommend staying at this Airbnb.

An extremely peaceful and lovely setting. Everything as advertised and so much more–the amenities go on and on... Good idea to follow the tide charts for the area; there can be some street flooding. Clifford was so quick to respond to any questions we had. His home is spacious, great for families.

This is a lovely home with a spectacular view of the mouth of the Potomac. We watched beautiful sunsets, a pod of dolphins, and an eagle from the front porch. The house is roomy and easily accommodated 8 adults. The back porch is a great social space. Bikes in the garage was a great touch! Check in was super easy and check out was a breeze. The house is super clean, and has the feel of a beach house, but the comfort of a new house. I would definitely recommend this stay!

This house is absolutely gorgeous and has a lot of nice touches! The private beach right across the street is convenient for a quick dip. We enjoyed playing ping pong in the garage and playing music through the Apple TV in the evenings after sunset. Speaking of sunset, it's no lie that the sunset view from this place is completely stunning. We all loved the screened porch in the back too. We had a few issues during our stay, but Clifford is an extremely caring and responsive host and he resolved everything quickly so you can be assured you are in good hands. I definitely recommend this place for a relaxing group gathering along the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.

Clifford is an awesome host, quick to answer any question and proactively sharing a lot of info about the house and its surroundings. We very much enjoyed our stay in his beautiful house. The HUGE screened deck was amazing for breakfast, lunches, diners (and dancing!), the outside BBQ grill super convenient and very efficient (we grilled every day and they even have a smoker if you want to smoke too), the bedrooms really comfy (the one in the loft for the kids is a killer with so many beds), the kitchen super convenient,.... And the sound bar was great for streaming music while relaxing. We also enjoyed the many games (ping pong table, bikes,...) The private beach was awesome too - we swam there twice. And we fished some fishes and crabs in front of the house. Really a great location and a lovely spot for families to enjoy quality time, inside and outdoor!. Highly recommend it.

Our stay was very pleasurable, the house was everything we hoped for, clean, spacious and well appointed. We had a few challenges concerning the operation of the TV and Beach access, but shortly after contacting Clifford he provided solutions. The view is simply gorgeous, and everyone in our party of 8 to 11 enjoyed their stay. The neighbors were quite friendly as well. I fished early in the morning and some of the neighbors stopped to chat each morning. Beach access was down the road but within walking distance. My granddaughters were like little tadpoles and wanted to play in the water every day. Both caught their first fish as well. I will certainly consider doing that again.

Clifford's place was great! It's got all the amenities, everything in the kitchen is labeled, and there is enough seating for the entire group (so many places say they sleep 10+ but only have table space for 6). The small, private beach across the street was great and we spent both afternoons enjoying the water and sun!

Fantastic for a family retreat. David and Johanna were real super hosts. The kitchen was well stocked and the view while cooking was breathtaking.

Their home is located in a very quiet neighborhood. The view of the Potomac River was great and we enjoyed watching the Osprey's and Bald Eagles hunt for their next meal. The home itself is well furnished with everything needed to prepare meals. Each bed and bedroom was comfortable. Each bathroom was clean and recently updated. The Great Room provided great views of the surrounding area and was comfortable as well. The spacious deck was perfect for evening visits and grilling.

If you want peace, quiet and commune with nature this is the place. It was food for our soul. We watched eagles fish and soar, a blue heron graced the property and the sunrise was gorgeous. We enjoyed the views of the ever changing Potomac from the porch and rarely left except for a dining experience at Coles Point Tavern and Art of Coffee.

This place is exactly where you want to be for a quiet, peaceful getaway. A beautiful vineyard 10 minutes from the house and nice tavern 1 mile up the road. Besides your own food, the house is equipped with seriously EVERYTHING and everything is in amazing condition. The private beach is amazing and so relaxing, the sunsets and sunrises are unforgettable and David equipped the house with so many activities from board games, water activities and games to play out on the grass. David was super helpful with everything you needed and more, everyone needs to visit this place! Thanks David!

Everything was perfect. The panoramic water around the house, the many windows that open up to the water, the Island with many birds on it across the water, and the perfect house! Kitchen is beyond fully stocked! And the poo was fun too. We hooked up our computer to the large screen TV and got some work done for our Richmond Reproductive Freedom Project retreat. The rooms were great, the board games were great! Everything just great. Check in was a breeze, communication breezy as the bay. Don't skip on this place--it is fantastical. Thanks so much for a stay in your beautiful home!

This is a treasure. The place is spotless, the host keeps making improvements, but the location is so spectacular! You will not be disappointed!

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Kathy’s house. The house itself is spacious, clean and bright. The bedrooms are comfortable. The house has incredible views. We saw lots of fish, birds and crabs. As a side note there are jellyfish in the river so we didn’t want to swim in there but this wasn’t an issue because there was a beautiful pool with river views. We had the best time! Thank you!

Excellent location and lovely home. Our group of mothers and daughters enjoyed a wonderful weekend. It began with delicious meal at local restaurant (at Kathleen’s suggestion). House was perfect for our needs. Plenty of room inside for our group to play games, chat, prep meals for our party of 12. Setting was nice also, We enjoyed a day pool side and kayaking, enjoyed the view from boat dock and rocking chairs on porch facing river.

Kathleen's home is perfect for a large group. We loved how open the home was, and we spent tons of time in the pool and on the pier. The views from the house and porch were great. If you're looking for a quiet area with lots of space to relax on the water, then this is the place for you.

Absolutely breathtaking views and gorgeous property. The Ruddy Duck was a great local restaurant with local seafood, and St. Mary’s River State Park on the way home was a nice detour to stretch our legs.

This was even more beautiful than in the pictures. The home was sparkling clean with beautiful beach accents and the sunrise was stunning. The weather was warm enough even in January for kayaking. We could get used to this private beach lifestyle!

This place is beautiful! My girlfriend and I celebrated a private New Year’s Eve here and we loved it. Our favorite part was being able to see the stars at night while the water was so peaceful and quiet. Definitely worth it!

This full apartment/suite is located in a beautiful, serene and peaceful area. The accommodations were spotless and more than enough for five adults and two puppies. We were sad to leave! Angela was quick to respond to our questions and was very accommodating with our estimated arrival time. I would definitely stay here again — I already wish we could go back!

Our week at Piney Point was wonderful! The house and location were perfect. The island was very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views, and your own private beach just outside your door. Lots to do if you love the outdoors. If your looking for a place to eat, the Ruddy Duck ( five minutes away) was excellent, delicious food and craft beer. Also, St. Mary’s State Park was great for fishing and hiking. Billie and Angela were great hosts! Wouldn’t hesitate to come back to their home!

You won’t be disappointed. The privacy of your own beach with a spectacular flat and great host....what more could you ask for?

Privacy was perfect you have your own beach. Only a few complaints but minor thermostat is controlled from upstairs and it gets stuffy where the bedrooms are located. Fridge works but could keep things colder. Beds were a bit uncomfortable to my liking. Other than those things place was great very clean and peaceful. Would definitely stay again.

My favorite part of staying here was the access to kayaks. It’s really nice not to have to go rent them. The location is beautiful and so peaceful.

We spent a beautiful fall weekend at Phil's home. Communication and check-in were very easy. We loved being right on the water and went kayaking both days. The house is spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. It was nice to hangout on the screened-in deck and the sun room with beautiful views of the water.

This is a wonderful house for a waterfront getaway! The house is in excellent condition and has many pleasant places to enjoy the water views: the all-weather cove room, screened porch, deck, and dock. We enjoyed kayaking in the cove and adjoining waterways, and we had a nice walk on their quiet neighborhood road. Reedville was a fun nearby destination, and we took the cruise from there to Tangier Island.

Phil and Lili's house is a waterside paradise in a peaceful part of Virginia. Everything was as-described in the listing and sleeping accommodations are extremely comfortable (especially the pull out futon in the cove room!!!). The water is really right next to the house and there were kayaks, lounging floats, and pool noodles available for use while hanging in the water. Definitely a five star place for a very fair price!

We had the most wonderful experience in the quiet cove, with a gorgeous view and every comfort we needed in the house. My husband and I went for a couples getaway retreat and it exceeded our expectations. So quiet, yet also not isolated. Quite a charming and clean home, with many comfortable options for hanging out. We hope to return!

This place was great. Not the most stocked but it doesn’t need to be because you spend all your time outside. We hung out on the dock the majority of the time. I suggest crabbing and fishing gear because it’s such an amazing area to catch both. We would gladly come back. The views are amazing!

Great experience, I wanted to just relax and this was the right choice. It was comfortable, cozy,quiet and very clean. With a glass of wine, a good book and the spectacular view of the water it far exceeded my expectations. Very modern decor and the fully equipped kitchen left me with only one negative, my stay was way to short. I will return with my children and grandchildren to explore more of the area that was recommended and I know the grandchildren will have fun with the pool table.

We enjoyed our week at Coan River. We had a wonderful time kayaking, walking, hiking at Belle Isle State Park, dinner at Reedville Market (formerly Tommy's) and exploring the area. Recommend Good Luck Cellars for wine tasting. So peaceful!

Great place to stay! Beautiful water views and wild life viewing! The house has EVERYTHING you need for a comfortable stay! The home was clean and the beds were very comfortable and cozy! The lockbox made for smooth checkin and checkout process. The Nest system made for easy temperature control. The river is so peaceful and fun to explore in the kayaks. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay!

Thank you again to Chris for being an exceptional host at the Rivah House as we have grown to call it. This was our second trip to the river house where I was able to bring some family with me and enjoy the peace and quiet away from our busy city lives. The house was clean, we had plenty of games to play to keep us busy during the rainy weekend. Chris let us know about a great new restaurant that recently opened Horn Harbor that had beautiful waterfront dining and amazing food! We also ventured out into Heathsville, where they had a few antique shops to wonder around. Food Lion is also not too far away and we were able to get some items to cook at the house, as they had plenty of cooking tools for us to use. This is a great place to spend time with your family and we are even thinking about booking for the Thanksgiving or Christmas vacations this year! We look forward to our next visit!

What a slice of heaven!! Never did I imagine I would want to vacation in Montross, but we have already booked for next summer. Our kids had an unconnected weekend, and simply had fun. The views are amazing, and it was just beautiful!

Fox Cove is a beautiful home in a magical setting. Our family had a relaxing time and felt so welcomed this past weekend! When not outside, we enjoyed a cozy living room inside to sit around and talk, or play games, as our family loves to do! What can I say about Fox Cove... We are mid-late 30s, professional guys, celebrating our friend's bachelor party for the weekend. Since we're no longer the wild/crazy party type, we searched for a peaceful getaway, close to the DC Metro area. Our criteria were waterfont, with a dock, and a quiet location. Located about 2.5 hours (thanks to DC traffic) the house is perfectly perched on a small peninsula, at the end of a quiet inlet and has a well-protected dock. I was originally concerned with the ability to launch my boat, but thankfully, Laurie spoke with her neighbors who have a private ramp and allowed us to launch 100 meters away. The house was spotless, had every amenity possible, and the a/c was a welcome escape from the heat. I have stayed at a lot of AirBnbs all over the world and Laurie was one of the best at communication, period. We had an amazing weekend, wakeboarded in the inlet for 6+ hours/day (on near perfectly flat water and 80-degree water), BBQ'd and unplug from our busy lives. This was a welcomed escape and we'll definitely return with our families. Thank you, Laurie!!!

What a beautiful and peaceful home. This house is truly tucked away in a cove for perfect privacy and peacefulness. Laurie’s home is beautiful and so clean. We had such a great time. Laurie was such a great and helpful host and her communication was beyond expectation. This truly is like your own little resort and a perfect getaway! We really appreciated how clear everything was (where to find things, how to leave things, etc). Highly recommend.

We loved Shannon Rest! It is the epitome of relaxation. We are a family of 6, and this place was the perfect getaway for a relaxing, family break. The home is large, with of space for a big family/group (we had beds to spare!), is decorated with a fresh nautical theme, and is full of hospitality with games, books and amenities. The property is absolutely gorgeous, lots of grass for kids to run around, with a wonderful screened in patio that overlooks the lake. We spent long mornings drinking coffee on the screened in patio, enjoyed our meals there, and late nights playing games. There is also a fire pit, down by the water, which we also enjoyed. There were kayaks for us to use (and life vests and paddles), and our kids would take them out for kayak relays. The home has a/c, and was plenty cool. The kitchen was fully stocked. The host, Joseph, is friendly and sent all the information we needed, was very responsive, and totally unobtrusive. This lovely, fun vacation home far exceeded our expectations. We hope we can go back sometime.

Very nice place! Updates are done well and gives you a beachy feel. Great big yard to play in and a very nice big screen porch great for toddlers! Great place to fish and check out local state parks, vineyards, beaches, and historical land Mark's.

I was completely taken aback by Shannon Rest; I find it hard to relax because of my work habits but this place and its surroundings land did just that for me; I am forever grateful to Joseph for the 9 wonderful days spent at the Rest;

We absolutely loved our stay at Joe's farmhouse! If you're looking for a serene setting conducive to relaxing, this place offers that and more! Joe was so helpful to his guests, starting with pre-arrival instructions that made settling in so easy. You really do not have to bring anything else but yourself as almost all that you need are already there in the house. Kayaks, fishing accessories and even kites were there for us to enjoy. Kids were never bored with the game boards they enjoyed during the rainy day. This is definitely one of the best vacations we ever had!

This is a lovely place inside and out. We visited with six kids, ages 5-8, and they loved the big lawn and the dock. The adults loved relaxing on the tranquil porch. Inside the house, you feel welcomed into a friend's home, with access to anything you might need for a pleasant visit. Joe was a helpful and communicative host. He went above and beyond to give us information and respond quickly. I definitely recommend staying here.

I rented the house for a family vacation (myself+fiancee, two sisters+their husbands and kids, and my parents). We loved it. It was a great location on the water. There was a nice little beach for the kids to play in. And we liked taking the kayaks out. I would definitely rent this place again.

Susan's place is beautifully situated on St. George's Island, which means amazing views, where at night you might hear the water & wind as we did. Inside the house is just the right balance of cozy & functional. Susan was super flexible as we had a wedding & arrived quite late and even made a bit of breakfast! Thanks Susan, we had a great night!

Susan was a terrific host, accessible, on the lookout to help, and personally very friendly and communicative. Her beautifully-appointed place was a joy to be in, the view of the Potomac estuary breathtaking, and the whole experience sublime! A full kitchen, excellent cookware, plenty of dishes, glasses, great stove... bicycles at hand to explore the land, and though we did not use them, boats for the water. Stock up on produce from roadside stands en route for a gourmet touch!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the cabin and cannot say enough nice things about it. The space was perfect for our group of 12 and could've hosted even more, depending on your sleeping arrangements. (One note - the upstairs bunk beds are sized for kids or smaller adults.) The hangout spaces were perfect for games and group hangouts. The kitchen table is cozy, but we managed to fit everyone around at dinner time. Kitchen was perfectly stocked for all your needs. In addition to the cabin, we explored the area and enjoyed hikes at Westmoreland State Park and Washington's Birthplace as well as the local brewery and coffee shop. Of the 5 years we've been taking this trip, this cabin/town was our favorite. We would return in a heartbeat!

Overall experience was great! The house was clean and comfortable, and had lots of amenities. Loved the hot tub, outdoor seating, game/movie room and last but not least, the beautiful view! It sits on a totally private lot with a great porch situation. Indoors or out, this house had everything we needed to keep our group busy with family activities the entire time. Silvana was extremely responsive, and gave clear directions. I would loooove to stay here again!

This is the perfect getaway! The setting is awesome and the home is incredibly family friendly. Our grandchildren had the best time kayaking. Fishing, roasting marshmallows and enjoying the amazingly open indoor space. One of the best places we’ve ever stayed!

The home looks just like the photos on the listing and what is even more impressive is that the linens in the home also live up to the quality that are displayed in the photos. The mattresses and duvets were extremely comfortable and each of the doors on the rooms helped to soundproof the spaces so even if you had folks who wanted to stay up and chat in the living room, you could go to bed in the master without feeling disturbed. With all that was offered at the home (fire pit, pool table, hot tub, great gathering spaces) we didn't feel like we had to leave the property to have interesting experiences as a group. They also provide a wealth of pots and pans, cups and serving bowls. Although we did use mostly paper plates and cups to limit cleanup. The only thing I would note is to bring your own washcloths if needed. Overall our group loved spending time here.

Great home for a big group. Susan was a great host, leaving the right level of instructions. She offers a lot of activities to enjoy the river - even to take us out on her boat! While we had other plans, it shows how she cared out about her guests having a great time.

We had a great family gathering at Susan’s place. Our group included young children, they really enjoyed running around and playing in the large yard. Susan lives on-site and offered local tips. We used the crab pots and also purchased blue crabs and had a feast outside on the deck with a view of the water. The kayaks available for use were very convenient.

We had just moved to Washington DC and were desperate for a break away somewhere peaceful with 4 little boys before school. Susan’s place looked fantastic online and was even better when we got there. Loads of space for them to run around in the garden outside and a lovely little beach. There’s also a renters’ shed with everything you could ever need for water-based entertainment including kayaks and paddle boards and buckets and spades for the little ones. On top of that there’s a ping pong table and baseball/football gear. But the real added touch is Susan’s kindness- taking us on a boat trip for swimming and showing us how to catch and cook crabs which the boys loved. And one day she took them off to make bread. They learned and experienced so much there and Susan was super kind and patient with them the whole time - which is some feat with 4 British boys! Our only wish would be to have a pool as squeamish husband didn’t want to swim in the lake with crabs nipping at his toes - but obviously that’s just a suggestion for future years! We had a fantastic time. The house was lovely too and perfectly clean and immaculately and tastefully decorated in Susan’s eclectic antique style. We loved our trip. Bravo from the Brits!

We stayed at Susan's place for a long weekend with a group of friends and one baby. We had a blast hanging out on the property - there was great space to play lawn games, relax outside, and use the beach and kayaks. The chickens were an added bonus. Susan is a great host and went out of her way to make sure we had a good time and everything we needed.

Susan's place was wonderful. It was easy to get to, easy parking, and a beautiful, relaxed, convenient experience. We were visiting with eight adults and five toddlers - and it was a PERFECT place for that group. Enough beds, enough space, enough kitchen supplies, enough common areas, very few stairs, a safe open huge lawn for playing with toys and sports, for wading pools, for badminton - it was perfect. The chickens in a coop about fifty feet from the side of the house - was our favorite part. Adult and babies loved the sweet chickens. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well - and was easily adjustable. The backyard ends in a dock AND A TINY BEACH - which the kids loved. Susan was incredibly helpful, friendly, and kind and I do feel like we made a new friend. We will definitely be staying there again if we can make our schedules work with a larger gang again. We were there for only two nights and it wasn't enough. Thanks for everything, Susan! - Brie, Dave, our daughter, and our gang of friends.
