A large ground floor room with its own exterior exit and a half bath adjacent to the room. There is also a private full bath upstairs and plenty of deck space to relax outside and take in all the beauty. My house is located 3 miles from the Antietam Battlefield and 3 miles from historic Boonsboro MD. Harpers Ferry WV and Shepherdstown WV are just a short drive away. In addition my house borders the little Antietam creek with beautiful scenery and immense history everywhere.
A very small town with a beautiful relaxed feel. A great deal of history surrounds the area with many unique dining, shopping and activity options. Guest room will include a welcome packet with local restaurants, shops, etc.
  • Adam’s place was super convenient and easy ! Adam is an amazing communicator , and very thoughtful in preparing the place and in his responses which is always appreciated ! Thank you !

  • If you're looking for a quiet getaway in a scenic area, look no further than Adam's AirBNB. My girlfriend and I were looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Baltimore for a weekend and were very pleased. Adam's stone house is in a quiet neighborhood near tons of lovely places, and he has cordoned off half the house for his AirBNB guests, giving you full privacy. Your results may vary, but we never saw Adam during our trip, and that was fine with us. His cat Smokey is also very affectionate and lovely. Upon leaving our room and entering the living room where the fridge is, we did smell a faint smell like pipe smoke or something else. In another review Adam mentioned that no one in the house smokes: it may just be a smell of the house. Like I said, it was very faint and only encountered for a moment in the hallway. Bathrooms were clean and tidy, fridge was well stocked and encouraged to be used, room was nice, set, and crucially warm since we stayed in February. Overall an excellent AirBNB experience, and one we can highly recommend!

  • Adam is a great host! Perfect location for anyone interested in touring Antietam Battlefield or even Harper’s Ferry, WV. His friendly loving cat Smokey was an added bonus. Will definitely return if in the area again.

  • The space is awesome and had all the amenities of a hotel, but with the feel of a home you’ve been generously granted access to. One of the friendliest cats I’ve ever met was just hanging around ready to hang whenever. Lovely creek right behind the property. Would come back for sure!

Original log house from 1790 and addition from 1850. Recently updated with modern new amenities but maintains it's historic charm. Steps from C&O canal mile marker 81 and Taylors Landing boat launch on the Potomac River. (Property on the canal but has limited water views)

  • Leslie's place is fantastic -- beautiful and stylish, perfectly located, and offering a true feeling of retreat. I was meeting up with two friends and we were torn over how much time to spend exploring the area and how much time to spend just enjoying the house itself -- you will be too! Be sure to have at least one meal in the gorgeous dining room and to bring something to read on the porch, patio, or by the fire. We found the drive to Harpers Ferry quite reasonable and there is plenty to see and do between the house and the park so you will not be bored. I will look for opportunities to come back to this place.

  • This is a beautiful home with a lot of history. The home has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay and is well decorated. Its close proximity to Taylor's Landing is perfect for JFK 50 spectators. Leslie and Gary were very easy to communicate with and the home was fully stocked with everything we needed. Highly recommend this home - you will not be disappointed!

    Julie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie’s house is beyond amazing! Wonderfully decorated, spacious, and so historical! Adds to the historical aspect of the surrounding area. We will definitely go back!

    Sarah2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie's house was warmly inviting, quiet, super clean, very comfortable and in a great location! You can be on the canal tow-path in a 2 minute walk or be at the Antietam battlefield in a 5 minute drive. There are plenty of restaurant choices, shopping and so MUCH history nearby. Leslie was quick to respond and easy to correspond with. I would recommend!

Welcome to The River Bend Retreat at Taylor's Landing: a relaxing get-away along the C&O Canal Towpath and the Potomac River. Whether you're in the area to enjoy the river and the towpath, soak up some history at Antietam National Battlefield, or explore the quaint nearby towns and attractions, we look forward to hosting your stay! The RBR's 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom can accommodate up to 4 guests. Visit us online for even more details, information, and local recommendations. See you soon!
The freshly updated, private suite features a well-equipped kitchen with banquette seating, a cozy living area with flat-screen TV, a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a second bedroom with a bunk bed and pull-out trundle (see photos), one full bathroom with shower/bathtub combo, a front deck/balcony overlooking the barn, large front yard, and the towpath, and a patio tucked away in the back with picnic table, gas grill and fire pit. The unit (we refer to it as our guesthouse) is what some would call a "mother-in-law suite". • A cozy, comfortable, inviting, beautiful space to stay. Jennifer was quick to communicate and gave helpful instructions with directions, expectations and things to do in the area. The rooms were sparkling clean. A highlight for me was the pair of pileated woodpeckers that came to the suet hanger. You could watch the birds out the living room window. I would highly recommend the place and hosts for an excellent Airbnb experience.

    Marilyn2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, cozy, clean and peaceful with lots of really thoughtful touches like snacks, basic food supplies and great information on the local area. Perfect place for a family that is planning busy days and wants to relax in the evenings with a family movie or board game. Well located for day trips in the local area or walks/bike rides along the C&O canal.

    Stefanie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer place is great, cleanness and full of little details that make your stay more comfortable. Too bad that I could only give her 5 stars cause she deserve more than that.

    Jose2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about this guest suite! It was quiet, beautifully decorated, and filled with thoughtful touches throughout. We especially appreciated the extras, like first aid supplies, a wide range of breakfast foods--oatmeal, eggs, fruit, yogurt, energy bars--as well as extensive information on the local area. The hosts also provide a good selection of books, both on the area and general interest as well as videos and games. We would highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning.

  • If your looking for a quiet place where you can relax and step away from everyday distractions, this is the place for you! We love Lisa's place so much we have stayed here now 3 times in the past 2 months. Whether we are spending the weekend with family/friends or just us as a family - its peaceful and relaxing! The pool is a huge plus in the summer months and we are looking forward to coming back in the Fall! Beautiful property and very clean! Lisa is always quick to help and respond in a jiffy!

    Nicole2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cabin located in the woods with total privacy. The location next to Antietam Battlefield provides an opportunity to see history at your doorstep. We were there for the hottest day of the year and not having air conditioning was a drawback. We knew this before we arrived and we brought fans, but the heat at night was daunting. The saving grace was the lovely pool. What a treat to have a private pool in a secluded wooded setting! Lisa was very responsive and provided a great packet that included information on things to do and restaurants in the area. She was an accommodating host and communication with her was easy and informative. All-in-all we had a great experience.

Ours is a roomy, fresh, and welcoming garden basement apartment with independent entry, separate bedroom, and full kitchen. Afternoon sun makes the sitting and dining areas lovely spaces to relax after a day walking, cycling, kayaking, or exploring the region. We are half a mile from the C & O Canal, Potomac River, MD; 1-2 miles drive in either direction to Taylor’s Landing or Snyder’s Landing; 3 miles from the Antietam Battle Fields; and a 12 minute drive to Shepherdstown, WV.
This is a spacious, clean, and comfortable apartment that invites relaxation and time with close friends and family. There is intentionally no television, but WiFi is usually reliable and there are games, books, and puzzles for a small group to spend time together after a day hiking, cycling, or kayaking on the river.
This is a very quiet corner of a rural neighborhood. You pass through beef farms on the way to the house. Stay at the speed limit because there is barely enough room for two cars to fit. Coming via Boonsboro is nicer, coming via Hagerstown is on a faster highway (with a very sharp right turn off a 50 mph stretch). We are a no-pets guest house.
  • We had a lovely time and the place was super nice and spacious. Christine was also communicative and helpful. A much needed retreat in the woods with lots of hiking and things to do nearby. We hope to return!

    Ben2020-02-16T00:00:00Z

    Natosha2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place is in a beautiful location. As we pulled up in the late afternoon, we saw 4-5 deer bounding across her lawn which was a treat, and we stopped on our way to walk along the C&O Canal which is very close by. The apartment s very clean. I would recommend it to others.

  • I've stayed in several Airbnb locations, and Susan has set the bar high for any future places I might stay in! Every 5-star review about this particular location is spot-on. Some things that stood out: -Location of the apartment and size -Very clean and modern while maintaining a historic feel -Great amenities: Washer and dryer were key for me! -Value Add Susan's hospitality, responsiveness, and thoughtfulness and you have everything for an amazing stay. Oh, and Boonsboro is a great little town with some nice shops (like Stone Werks Coffee) restaurants and awesome nearby hiking trails (you can pick up the AT just a few short miles away).

    Mark2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were in town for the JFK 50 Miler and preferred accommodations close to the start line (official race hotels were in Hagerstown). We couldn't have found a better location - the rental was walking distance to the pre-race meeting at the high school and to the starting line. The rental was exactly as advertised. Communication prior to arrival was great and the check in process was smooth. We had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The bed was super comfortable and I came home with the intention of seriously upgrading my bedroom and bathroom linens game! Also, I have to mention the outstanding water pressure in the shower - that's serious business. Check out procedures were clearly indicated and the entire process was stress-free.

    Courtney2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed staying in Susan's place. It's very stylist and spacious as well as being close to everything and everywhere I wanted to go.

  • Little Lodge is a perfect weekend escape. We’ve been twice and will keep coming back. Hiking, quiet and cozy nights by the fire, quaint dinners in Boonsboro or Shepherdstown. Perfect!

  • Our family had such a fun and memorable winter visit to this lovely cabin that we are sure to come again. It was cozy, clean, private and had everything we needed. The outdoor access on the property was wonderful, as was the chance to chop our own firewood for the wood stove. We even got to watch the game on the big TV. Our two boys loved sleeping in the cozy loft. If you have very little kids, you’ll want to be wary of the steep steps up to the loft. There were stink bugs and lady bugs (dead and alive) all around, but we were in a rustic cabin in the mountains, so it didn’t bother us a bit. We loved the house so much that we never left to explore all the surrounding attractions, so we’ll save that for next time. The host was so responsive and accommodating. Thank you!

  • Beautiful home that felt very secluded, but close to various locations. Great place to get away and unwind.

  • The little lodge is beautiful and very classy. The Christmas tree was a nice, unexpected touch to end the holiday season with. Mike is an excellent, accommodating, and thoughtful host. Thank you for the experience!

  • This is the fourth year we have stayed at one of Michaels properties. Our second year staying at “The Little Lodge”, to be exact. Michael’s properties are all beautifully located with panoramic views. The homes are full of detail, with every amenity well thought of. Michael is an exceptional guest, and we always look forward to staying at one of his homes. We definitely feel at home away from home.

    Sandra2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a repeat stay for us and we were happy to be back at Michael’s wonderful little lodge. As usual it was a great escape from the city and we enjoyed the quiet and peaceful surroundings and nearby hiking. The Christmas tree was a nice bonus to brighten up the cabin for the holidays. The house is well stocked with everything you might need. It’s easy to get to and really feels remote.

  • Cute little cottage in the heart of Sharpsburg. Super convenient to Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry too!

  • My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at the Doyle’s beautiful home! It had everything we needed and more, including great breakfast options (including vegan items!) and a lovely outdoor space. We were very cozy and loved being so close to everything we wanted to do during our trip. I highly recommend this lovely home!

  • A lovely home that is perfect for a group of 4-6. We stayed here to get out of DC for a weekend and to have a rustic "bachlorette" weekend. The house is beautiful, well-furnished, and the hosts left notes throughout which were very helpful. The house was only 30 minutes from Harpers Ferry and in a safe neighborhood. There were plenty of extra linens, blankets, and pillows. The kitchen space had everything we needed and then some! Overall, a lovely weekend with friends before my wedding.

  • Quaint little cottage in historic area. We came for the Freedoms run half marathon and it was close to the start / finish in Sheperdstown and we actually ran past the house on the run. An ideal location to explore Antoetam. Enjoyed the restaurant recommendations - Blue Moon (great garden area) and Maria's Taqueria - good casual mexican. Bavarian Inn has good brewery selection and great authentic German food. Would definitely stay again.

  • Fun and wonderful space. Neat to stay in such an old and historical house. We enjoyed walking around town the next morning. Quiet location and comfortable space. One upstairs bedroom with a half bathroom, and the downstairs had two pullout couches which was perfect for our two teenagers.

  • Mike was a thoughtful host who was great at communication, providing recommendations, and the house was stocked with all the extra things you don’t think of when renting a house, the hospitality was terrific. From my experience with Airbnb and rentals, Mike goes above and beyond in “customer service” and making his guests feel welcome. The house is a beautiful getaway, just as pictured, in a remote (but not too remote) location, it’s very quiet and peaceful. The house very comfortable - spacious and modern amenities, yet has a beautiful rustic cabin vibe. Thanks mike for a great weekend!

Boonsboro is celebrating its 225 year anniversary. There are events throughout the year. Downtown offers a number of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Nearby Funkstown is known nationally for its antique shops. Frederick is a special town steeped in history but modern with a large selection of restaurants, breweries and art venues. Across the Potomac in West Virginia, Shepherdstown offers a college setting with offbeat shops, music, eclectic dining and pubs. Harpers Ferry is the National Park Service headquarters for the Appalachian Trail and retains its historical significance with replicas of actual stores and landmarks. And, of course, Antietam battlefield in Sharpsburg, which has avoided the commercial buildup of many other historical sites. The area has something for everyone.
  • Julie was very responsive! Her home was located very close to shops and convenient during our stay. Home was beautiful and unique!

  • Julie’s house was the perfect home base for our family while exploring Frederick and the surrounding area. Julie was a great host, and check-in and check-out were very easy. The house was beautiful, light-filled and airy, with very comfortable beds and rooms. Enjoyed our morning coffee in the nice kitchen, while our toddler and dog had lots of fun looking out the windows of the house together. Very convenient to the downtown area, only a short walk to restaurants.

The bedrooms we're roomy, comfortable and very quiet...even with a house full of people downstairs if you were upstairs it was very quiet.. perfect for the baby. Nice fenced in yard for the dogs. It worked out perfectly for our Christmas celebration.

  • Kathy's home is like a heavenly garden, surrounded by trees and spotted by different flowers and visited by many birds and butterflies. It is a runaway paradise for anyone who wants a serene weekend from busy life. Not to mention she is a warm-hearted hostess who is always ready to help whenever you need. I will definately come again to Rose Garden.

  • Kathy is the best host and her accommodations are clean, well decorated and lovely. She takes special care of attending to her guests needs and makes a superb breakfast. I highly recommend her B&B to anyone who wants a pleasant stay in the country.

  • I wish I could give 6 stars. This listing is perfection. Kathy was very good about providing recommendations for dinner and everything was set when we arrived. We came for a little getaway for our anniversary and she had the most delicious cheesecake waiting for us. I'd say the book is worth if only to get the cheesecake. The bed was firm and had one of the softest blankets I have ever felt. Breakfast the next morning was a beautiful set up and so scrumptious. We live in DC and this was the perfect relaxing getaway. Thanks for everything Kathy! Can't wait to come back!

    Camille2016-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at the Rose Cottage for a "fall foliage" weekend in mid-October, and we have both agreed that the B&B and Kathy's hospitality were both top-notch. We loved our stay! Breakfast was fantastic, the bed was firm and comfortable, our room was nicely private, and even the common seating room had a selection of brochures and booklets to help us along as we planned out the weekend. Not to mention that Kathy had great suggestions for things to do --- in fact, we followed her advice pretty much to the "T" and had a wonderful experience. I also want to call out the amazing pumpkin bread Kathy offered us. Whew, it was delicious! Couldn't recommend the Rose Cottage more highly, and we would definitely stay here again when we come back to the Frederick/Thurmont/Hagerstown area.

  • Beautiful house - the photos don't do it justice! The place is much more spacious than the photos make it seem, especially the upstairs bedroom. Very clean as well. And the location is perfect, right across from the Potomac river. We had an amazing stay.

  • The house is lovely and in a beautiful spot; SO quiet, and we got to see lots of wildlife! We have AT&T and didn't get phone service, so that may be something to note for future visitors (totally not the host's fault, though!), BUT the wifi worked great so I was able to email and facebook message if I needed to! This was my first experience using an AirBNB and I was very pleased!

  • Catherine's place is gorgeous. I came with four friends, and we all slept comfortably here (seriously, the beds were amazing). The hot tub was great, you could walk to the C&O trail and a little country store, plus you are near wineries and cute small towns (Shepherddrown, Anteitam). The driveway was washed out while we were there, but there was plenty of room to park on the lawn. The house is stocked with some drinking water and plenty of cleaning supplies. It was a great weekend, we would definitely stay here again (some of us are already planning our next trip)!

  • This is a beautiful get-a-way on the canal. Comfortable and quiet.

  • Very well appointed cottage nestled in the woods, go there now! Short drive to Shepherdsville and Harpers Ferry. Hot tub is brand new. Home has everything you need (including an impressive VHS collection). The towels were fluffy and fresh, there are TWO fire pits, and the birds provide a soothing soundtrack for your getaway. Thank you!!

  • Rose cottage is a tranquil oasis and it is just a short drive to Harpers Ferry. The room was immaculate and the breakfast and evening deserts were delicious. We had a wonderful visit and highly recommend it.

  • Kathy was truly a wonderful host. The house was very nice and extremely clean. Was exactly as described in the listing. Most of all, the little things that Kathy did to make our stay special were truly impressive and very appreciated. The desserts (and other baked goods) she made for us were all so delicious. We were making peanut and butter sandwiches for our hike and she brought us freshly made peanut butter and jelly. Every morning, she made us breakfast and served us on her beautiful patio or next to a window overlooking the property. I could go on and on about our stay. It really was wonderful.

  • Cozy room and comfortable furnishings. Great breakfast and Kathy was very accommodating to our needs. Great proximity to Antietam battlefield. Kathy has great knowledge of the area and made recommendations for dining and activities.

  • It was a busy wedding weekend and each night as family/friends headed to hotels, I was so grateful to head to Kathy's. It was like heading for home. The BB is as advertised. It was clean, comfortable beds, easy to get interstates and larger towns, yet, secluded. Breakfasts were plentiful. It was a treat to sit on the patio for breakfast. There was even little touches ... plenty of towels, bottled water, etc. Yet, what makes a BB in my opinion, is the host. Kathy was so gracious and sincere. I had a rough drive over the mountains and she was very patient as my arrival time was pushed back. When I needed assistance with locating an automotive person to locate a shop open on weekends (construction pothole on my way). It put me at ease. She was also helpful with suggestions on places to see. I would highly suggest this BB. I will be returning when I visit friends.

  • The Rose Suite is a very charming place, beautifully decorated, gorgeous views and with all the amenities you could ever desire. The breakfast was super delicious served on a wonderful deck overlooking the countryside. And Kathy, the hostess, is not a bit intrusive, but is always behind the scenes making sure the guests are well taken care of. She is a delight to talk to as well. I would definitely send my friends and go again myself. It is close to Shepherdstown and Sharpsburg and Antietam Battlefield and close to DC.

  • Our stay at Rose Cottage was just what we had hoped for. We were attending an event at Saint James School and touring Antietam Battlefield so this was super convenient: just a few minutes away from both. The room was big and clean, perfect for us to set up a pack'n'play for our toddler. It was also nice to have access to a common room for a little extra space. Kathy was such a gracious host! She had cookies waiting for our arrival, and the mini fridge stocked with water was so clutch on a hot day! She even brought out a stroller for the baby to ride around in. The breakfast was fantastic and was served on the deck with a beautiful view. It was a great way to start the day. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Hagerstown area and hope to have an opportunity to return ourselves. Thanks, Kathy!

  • Lovely lovely stay! Spacious, quiet, clean and easy check in and check out. The breakfast on the patio was exceptional. If you need to stay in the Hagerstown area, skip the chain hotels and stay just a few miles out in the country. We will definitely stay again if we are back in the area!

  • It was such a pleasure staying at the Rose Cottage. My boyfriend and I had the escape we needed beyond what we could have ever expected. From the fresh cut roses, delicious home made cookies, to the amazing breakfast spread Kathy made us feel right at home. The room itself and the shared living room had a wonderfully set up with anything and everything we could want. We hope to escape to this oasis again :)

Spacy home looking down on the Potomac River and C&O National Park from the South rim of a canyon in the forest. Historic Shepherdstown 5, Antitam Battle Field 10 & Harpers Ferry National Parks 20 min away. Deck reaches out into the trees creating a tree house feel. Swimming in the Potomac River on HOA. Fire in firepit at terrace on a cliff over the canyon; in winter time, fireplace. Great 4 Shepherd University events, photo-shoots & weddings. Canoe+kayaks. AIRBNB+ quality
Only at a few places, the Potomac river carved meandering canyons or necks through the rocks. Only a few houses are actually built on such such necks looking down on the river. Half a century and longer ago, such places were the first to be bought. So, the greatest views have rather dated houses. We own such house with the greatest view of our HOA. BUT, we like old houses, but we also love modern comfort. So we totally remodeled our house, keeping the cozy warm feel of a well-lived house while making it comfortable with all the modern amenities of a brand new home. Fabulous views for wedding and family pictures; the fire pit is on a rock looking over the Potomac; about 10 mi upstream from Harper's Ferry; Antitam Battlefield is just accross the river; fabulous dining places in historic Shepherdstown; Great hikes on the Appalachian trail; great fireplace; bicycles for rent in Shepherdstown. The house is our home, so it is far nicer than a mere vacation rental place. Wildlife and birds are everywhere. A visiting friend once said "you guys live in a dream come true" and right he was. We make this available only a few times per year. Office space with 2 tables available for meetings & office retreats. Basics needs like coffee, sugar, cream, herbs etc. in kitchen. Please note that flowers and autumn colors are seasonal and probably will not coincide with your staying period. Also: we clean the house before your arrival, but an occasional spider, millipede, forest mouse or another forest critter may find its way in from the woods. That is unavoidable in a house in the forest. If you are uncomfortable with that, please don't rent our house. We only rent out 7 weekends per year and want our guests to have a wonderful experience and avoid an experience similar to those guests who had city-like expectations and downgraded our otherwise perfect 5 star rating.
Each lot is on 3,5 acres and the neighbors like their privacy. While the happy cheers of playing children are more than welcome, loud music and overly noisy partying won't be appreciated.
  • Terrific house and extra caring hosts.

    Cecil2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend stay was fantastic and just what our group of friends needed. We get together a couple of times per year and head out of the city into the woods to relax, decompress and just hang out in nature away from all the stresses of day to day life. This house coupled with Daan’s hospitality, friendliness and desire to foster a relaxing stay ended up making for a truly awesome experience. He and his wife went out of their way to make us feel at home. The house was perfect for our group providing ample space to hang out together or alone. The view was the very best part. Sitting out on the back deck made us feel like we were in a tree house. It was beautiful (even better than in the pictures!) and very relaxing. We would all go back for a second visit!

  • The description and photos don't do justice to this remarkable private home: A spectacular site - on a wooded bluff, high above the Potomac, looking across to the C&O Canal National Park. Wooded rock gardens, filled with wildflowers. Decks perched in the treetops, surrounded by songbirds, The warm, inviting, rambling midcentury-modern home takes full advantage of the site and views. Baths and kitchen have been tastefully updated, but this is a "real home", not a sterile resort. We had a wonderful time, this was the perfect spot for our reunion of old friends!

    Curtis2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay celebrating a friend's birthday. The house is located in a very serene location with an amazing view from virtually every room. The hosts are friendly and communicative. Would definitely recommend!

    Ana2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. The views of the Potomac are gorgeous, and Daan and his family bent over backwards to accommodate our group, which included three toddlers. We went over New year's, and the cabin was the perfect place to cuddle up in front of the fire, relax, and spend time with friends and family.
