Interlochen Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Interlochen

This amazing house was conceived with vacation travelers in mind. You’ll love this GEM of a place because of location & views of Tuller's Lake. We are close to numerous activities & great restaurants. Our vacation home is located on 16 acre PRIVATE Tuller's Lake, home-like atmosphere provides unique alternative to traditional hotel accommodations. 13.5 miles to Traverse City 3 miles from Interlochen Arts Academy 26 miles to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park 17 miles to Crystal Mountain
This special property features 2 separate units that are not connected internally aka a Duplex . Here are a few things PEOPLE LOVE about The Grey Stone House #1 Location, 5 minutes to the World renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, 20 minutes to Traverse City, 26 miles to the Sleeping Bears Dunes National Park, 17 miles to Crystal Mountain, 3 miles to the Blue Bridge Events Centre, 1/2 mile to Interlochen Golf course, 30 miles to The Homested & is located on its own lake, Tuller's lake. #2 Our house is newly remodeled, the unit is AIR CONDITIONED for those warm summer days, great effort has went into sound proofing one side from the other, this is what a recent guest had to say (The way the duplex is set up your privacy is not compromised at all. In fact I would of never known we had a neighbor unless I saw their car. We did not hear a peep. Gaea) #3 The YARD, PATIO & LAKE are awesome since it allows you to enjoy the best days of summer outside and grill to your heart's delight with the GRILL and BOATS found there! Here are 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting. #1 NO PARTIES are permitted in our house or property at all times during your stay. #2 Our house is nice but its not perfect for all people, even though we have put lots of effort into this place there are always small what seem like trivial issues to most that really upset others such as, there is not a bathtub we have a stand up shower. There is a step up to get into the house. Etc #3 We ask all our guests to respect the neighbors and to not be loud or yell or play loud music inside and outside the building at all times during their stay. We expect our Guests to be quiet after 11:00PM. So if you intend to behave like a party animal, our place is not for you but if you intend to behave like a resident, you should love your stay. Now that this is clear, let's get to the description of the place! The Grey Stone House is located in Interlochen on Tuller's Lake a 16 acre PRIVATE lake, the center point of activities in the Traverse region. We can accommodate 4 GUESTS. THE Grey Stone House (left side unit B RED DOOR) This unit features a kitchen that is fully equipped with all the essentials such as POTS & PANS, COFFEE MAKER, TOASTER, BLENDER, SLOW COOKER and your basic kitchen items to cook a nice meal.  This is a 1 BEDROOM unit with a queen size bed & all the linens you will need. The living room has a QUEEN SIZE HIDE A BED COUCH for 2 extra people (for a total of 4 guests) 50” Toshiba HD TV, Cable, also has ULTRA FAST 5G WIFI .  The bathroom has a STAND UP SHOWER, HAIR DRYER, IRON & BOARD and WASHER & DRYER so that you can take care of your laundry needs.  This unit has a beautiful private deck & overlooks the lake and also has a PATIO TABLE / CHAIRS & outside GRILL so that you can truly enjoy those long summer days.
This property is part of a 37 acre partial & is basically located in the center of it, right off of US 31, other than a small part of the lake, we own it including the lake shore so it is a private lake.
  • The place is great, my daughter is attending Interlochen and it is so convenient. A cozy little home away from home. It has it's own little lake with boats for your use. We enjoyed our stay. Jeff knows the area well and he is quick to answer any questions.

  • Clean, cute, and close to Traverse City, making it a great alternative to a pricey stay downtown. This home had everything you could ever want/need for a short stay, and more. Thank you for being so accommodating, Jeff! 11/10 would recommend this home. I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Jessica2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, clean home that had everything we would ever need for our stay. So convenient to Interlochen and Traverse City

  • We were overjoyed at the Greystone house. It was modern, clean, and had everything we needed. It was a stress-free stay. We look forward to coming back.

    Deborah2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Grey Stone while traveling to Traverse City for an event. We loved that it is close to Traverse City but has a nice secluded feel. Located on a small lake, our Labradors had a chance to do some swimming, and if we had kayaks it would have been a nice place to launch. Very clean, wi-fi, all amenities needed are provided.

    Martha2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, very clean, amazing place!

  • We loved our stay at the grey house! It was a perfect location to visit Traverse City and the Sleeping Bear Dunes! The house was stocked with everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean!

  • Wonderful place! The location is perfect when visiting Interlochen Arts Academy! Lots of space in their large acreage for my dog to run and nice trails nearby. There are two rooms and a bathroom - basically the whole upstairs was ours, and use of the kitchen and living spaces downstairs in the main part of the house. Plenty of space. Our own mini fridge in the room was a nice extra. Arnie was a perfect host (did not get to meet Dzidra) - very generous and friendly. Offered great dog walking and dining advice and had some great stories to share! We had a great visit! Thank you!

    Angela2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Arbus and Dzidra are gracious host. They always ask what we need and give tips to places. The place is perfect. It is comfortable and rustic. The space in the back is also a great place to relax and enjoy nature

  • The hosts went above and beyond expectations to make us feel welcome. Very friendly. Accommodations were very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the breakfast of muffins, fruit, cereal, etc. each morning. Would highly recommend!

  • Great location. Clean, comfortable, and a great view!

    Kaylyn2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable, very accommodating, very nice folks! Great value. Beautiful, peaceful setting.

    Cathleen2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time with amazing hosts. Felt very at ease. During our stay and appreciated their knowledge of the area. Their home and property was spectacular!

    Shawn2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Arnie &Dzidra were excellent hosts! They thought of EVERYTHING....from snacks in the room, to a fridge with an assortment of drinks, to soap and shampoo in the shower and breakfast in the morning! They were also helpful with restaurant recommendations! They also have an immaculate home that has a lovely yard and acreage. Arnie and Dzidra. went above and beyond for us since we had our antique wooden boat there for a show and it began to storm ( and didn't stop till late that night), and he pulled his truck out of the garage so we could put 'Pretty Girl' inside to stay dry and clean!!!! We took our boat to the show dry and clean, and it won in a category which we were ecstatic about! We told all at the show about our good fortune to find them! (I believe they were all jealous)! Thanks again!!!

    Colleen2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts - very warm, kind and solicitous. They offer a clean, warm, quiet home - my niece and I had the upstairs to ourselves - very comfortable. It was snowy and beautiful while we were there; I'll hopefully return again during another season to explore the forest trails Arnie and Dzidra have right from their property. Highly recommend!

  • Rachel and Paul's home is beautiful and is even better than the pictures. The pictures of the water and the dock don't do the beautiful views justice! The house had all the essentials including a fully stocked kitchen. The cottage was private and quite, perfect for a relaxing weekend away. Rachel was very responsive and gave detailed directions to the home. Would absolutely stay here again!

    Caitlin2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cabin right in Interlochen. Hosts go well beyond any expectation to make this place a true gem. Right on Duck Lake. You can't go wrong here. Don't think twice about booking your stay here.

    Matthew2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very great hosts! Everything was clear in the communication and the place was awesome...ready to go, clean, comfortable, and very relaxing. Perfect place for activities at Interlochen, Traverse City, and Elk Rapids. We'd love to stay there again!

    Joaquin2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice accommodations. Relaxed setting. Quiet, restful. It was scenic but we were there to fish and this was a whole lot better than camping. Perfect for our needs.

    Tom2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing! Close to everything and still secluded. Beautiful view. Clean and all the amenities of home but none of the stress.

    Christopher2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our expectations for this trip were high, so it was hard to see how the cabin could exceed those--but it did, in every way! Beautiful location, stunning view of Duck Lake, close to all sorts of fun things. We had the BEST time, and hope to come back again soon! Rachel and Paul are generous, responsive hosts, and their listing lives up to its billing and then some!

    Jeb2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel and Paul's place was super clean and had great views of the lake. Very beautiful! There was plenty of sitting space and a swing to enjoy the views on. We even saw a skunk! Which was really cool! The home was easy to find and was very quiet. Everything was great! There was a fire pit and grill to use and some board games! They even left their kayaks for us to use which was super cool bc we were not expecting that. There is also a state park right behind the house to go exploring and walking trails on. We were too tired from hiking sleeping bear dunes to go but it is nice to have so close for something to do. We are pretty big homebodies so when arrived we were a bit thrown off by the back door not having any curtains to shut on them. (All of the other windows do have curtains though.) We understand it was probably to show off the great view of the lake but it would have been nice to have that option to close if we wanted. The only other thing that we probably didn't read was that there was well water. Which is probably not a big deal to most people but is nice to know. We had a great time and recommend anyone who loves the water and spending time outdoors to book it. Enjoy!!

    Greg2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely outstanding! Amazing hosts! Super adorable cottage with all the amenities you need & very clean. We felt right at home. The views are so gorgeous & peaceful. Rachel & Paul were extremely responsive & they made the process so easy. We would not hesitate to book this place again!!

Though automobile and bicycle are the most flexible form for transport, the regional bus system, Bay Area Transportation Authority, continues to improve and offers one route that stops very near Creekside Cottages. The water at Creekside Cottages comes from a well. It has high iron content and is safe to drink, but some people do not like the taste and it can cause discoloration of clothing, dishes and our bathroom fixtures.
  • Amazing place and Sarah was very helpful. Everything as advertised. Cafe across the road was an added bonus.

    John2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The host was extremely accommodating and extremely quick to respond to questions. The cabin fit our needs perfectly. The restaurant across the street (Buds) was great and Hofbrau down the street was incredible! We loved our stay!

    Becca2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Good communication. Exactly as described. Good deal for a fair price. Nice diner across the street.

    Tammy2016-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was fine. It was clean, very close to the State Park, dining, and Sarah, our host, was pleasant. The place is listed as a cabin, though, and it really is a hostel. It didn't make any difference to us, as nobody else was staying in the hostel with us. We would stay again if we go back, as it's pretty close to Traverse City, too.

    Marie2014-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and rustic cabin conveniently located in Interlochen. I was the only person staying the night, so it was very quiet. The host, Holly Jo, is very friendly, knowledgeable of the local community, and a pleasure to talk to. She was also very communicative about arranging the stay. Pro tip: visit Bud's across the street for great coffee and breakfast!

    Christopher2014-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Creekside Cottages. Melissa was a friendly, helpful and responsive host! Clean, comfortable room. Awesome value for Northwestern Michigan!

    David2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great option in Interlochen for something affordable, accessible and no nonsense. It is certainly a communal style setting as described but very pleasant, quite clean and cozy. I found the host very communicative and was largely left alone. A nice kitchen with all that's needed for cooking is a nice bonus as well.

  • The manager, Sara, was really prompt and thorough in all her communication with me. I needed a place last minute and didn't want to spend a fortune. The hostel is a great idea! It is very clean and cozy and welcoming. It was perfect for me and my daughter.

    Margaret 2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Cozy cabin feel. Bed was comfy and linens were clean! Will stay here again if I come up to the Traverse city area!

    James2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a clean, comfortable, convenient and friendly cute little cottage hostel for whoever travels on a budget. We enjoyed and missed every minute of it, even that my mother and my husband never had any hostel experience. Just some tips: (1) it gets very quite around the cottage between midnight and 6-7 am so you can have a good night sleep; however, because it is right by one of the main streets of Interlochen, you might need to bring a pair of ear plugs if you want to sleep in during the day. (2) Many places in Interlochen area uses well water, which contains a lot of minerals. Bring a water bottle with filter if you plan to do a lot of outdoor activities with light carry-ons. This cottage also provides filter, which is awesome.

    Ray2014-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication from the hosts made this a perfect option for our short stay in the area (one night after a wedding). The space was basic, but everything was clean. The two other travelers that we shared the bunkhouse with on our stay were pleasant and courteous. The only downside was that the bunkhouse is very close (about 25 feet) to the road (M-137) and with the windows open to get some fresh air, there was quite a bit of road noise. But, for the price, this was a good value. Recommended.

    Jeffrey2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is funky, but fine for our needs. The main bunk room was occupied by a large party, so we were offered twin beds in the "lounge" area. While this is a separate area, and so affords some privacy, the guests from the main room also had access to it, its bathroom, etc. (this is in part due to the fact that the kitchen is there). The overall feel of the place is rustic, but it is right on the main road through Interlochen, with businesses nearby (this is not a bad thing; right across the road is cafe with decent coffee and sandwiches). Our host, Sarah, was friendly and helpful. The space is pretty clean and quiet and felt both safe and secure. Would stay here again but probably only as a last option, as it was this time.

    Eli2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it!

    Aditya2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • As long as you are fine with sharing a room of bunks with strangers, you will have a blast, near Traverse city. The host leaves you with popcorn to make, clean sheets, very nice people, lovely stay for the price.

    Tara2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I came off-season, so I had the whole bunkhouse to myself! It wasn't even creepy, because the place is so cozily furnished. It was pretty cold, however, so I don't know how that would have gone if I'd had to share the blankets. As it was, I just piled 'em on and slept like a hibernating bear. Sarah was very friendly and responsive to my itinerary changes getting in. I'd definitely stay here again.

My sweet Cottage is in the village of Interlochen, walking distance from Tom's supermarket, Massage studio, Hofbrau Restaurant and Bud's cafe. During the school year I live in the house and rent out the second bedroom. The bathroom is shared. The cottage has wooden floors, kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher, washer/dryer, garage, backyard/patio with fireplace for smores and a grill, wifi. Perfect for a quick getaway or if you and need a place to stay during performances!
The cottage is only 1.5 miles from the Arts Academy, so bring your bikes and go to the shows without the hassle of finding parking! It's a 45 minute drive to Frankfort, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Glen Arbor and short 25 minute drive to Traverse City with the cherry festival and film festival.
  • This was a wonderful experience! Niki is so kind and easy-going, her house is lovely and clean, and I had a very restful time. She is also conveniently located and a wonderful person! I highly recommend her home to anyone visiting the area!

    Jenny2014-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Niki's place is lovely and peaceful. I actually did not get to meet Niki as she was away for my entire stay. Niki provided me with the door code, so arrival was effortless. The house and neighborhood is quiet even though it is just off of the main road to Interlochen. There are two markets within walking distance, so I was able to pick up whatever I needed during my stay. The pizza place across the street was great and there is a coffee house with food and very good coffee a short walk down the road. The place was perfect for what I needed for my week at Interlochen's Adult Chamber Music Camp.

    Lisa2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Niki. Our arrival was smooth, and we enjoyed the location: Interlochen is a very cute small town in the middle of the woods, and is nearby the Sleeping Bear Dunes National seashore, and Traverse City (about 30 min drive from both). Niki gave us some great tips on what to see and where to eat around. We had an amazing Labor Day weekend!

    Sharon2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Niki was a wonderful host, her home is very cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Niki is a delightful person, a dedicated teacher and artist. I look forward to staying her home again.

    Wyatt2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Two of us stayed at Niki's during a weeklong workshop at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. It was a wonderful home base! The house is as she describes. The house was clean and light-filled. Her kitchen and pantry have all the basics (plus an outdoor grill!). Quiet street. Niki was responsive throughout our stay.

    Maddy2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, vey quaint, everything was as described and Nikki was great to work with. I loved how homey it was and how close to Interlochen it was.

    Gaea 2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Niki was really kind and accommodating of my crazy schedule. At the last minute, I ended up making plans to stay at a friend's cabin a half hour outside of Interlochen. I kept the reservation at Niki's to use the Internet for work since the cabin had no cellular or Internet service. She had no problem letting me take care of business, which I highly appreciated. Her place was really well organized, designed, and had a great feel to it. I wish I had been able to stay there, too! Also, her cat is adorable! Would definitely work with Niki in the future - and might - as I love the Interlochen area.

    Don2013-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Niki was so friendly and accommodating! We had everything that we needed and would have loved to stay more than just two nights if we could have! I wouldn't stay anywhere else. :) Thanks Niki!

Charming studio apartment located in a private wooded neighborhood. Within minutes of the Interlochen Arts Academy, this studio has a full kitchen, gas fireplace and private deck. 15 minutes from Traverse City and Crystal Mountain.
Just let us know what you need to make your stay more enjoyable!
We are surrounded by lakes, woods, great neighbors and the location is convenient to just about everything. 1 mile from the Interlochen Arts Academy, 20 minute to Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, 30 minutes to Glen Arbor / Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and 20 minutes to Crystal Mountain Four Seasons Resort.
  • We really enjoyed staying here. It was clean and comforting, really pleasant to come back to at the end of the day. The kitchen was really convenient and had everything we needed. The beds and couch were comfortable too. The one thing that I would have wanted to know beforehand is a little bit more about how the bathroom looks. It's very nicely set up, with two sinks, which was nice. The tub was clean and the shower worked well, although there is no light over the tub, making it not very easy to shower when the sun isn't up. All in all we had a wonderful stay here!

    Catherine2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay, Samantha was a great host! The place is very cute and clean and the location is great! There is also a really nice local coffee shop just down the street!

  • Very cute cozy place with lots of room and a functional kitchen. Nice decorations. Was well maintained and stocked. In a small neighbourhood, but very close to a large grocery store, small town, and half an hour from Traverse City. She had a detailed guest book with suggested places to eat and information about travel. We really enjoyed our stay

  • What a wonderful first experience with Airbnb! Samantha's apartment was spacious, clean, and comfortable. She seemed to anticipate many of the needs one might have while staying. We found this place at the last minute, but Samantha still got everything prepared and even let us stay a little later on our checkout date. The apartment was located in a very pretty neighborhood with plenty of room to walk, a lake, and a state park just up the road. We loved staying here and would definitely come again!

    Lisa2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Samantha's place! It was clean, delightfully decorated, and quiet. We found everything we needed, including a few appreciated touches; deck with table and chair, outdoor grill, and coffee and tea in the kitchen.

    Emily2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Samantha was out of town, but she accommodated us at the last minute and had her dad get the apartment ready for us -- it was a lifesaver! She was available all weekend via text if we needed her. And her dad (or some mystery person.) even plowed the driveway one morning after a big snow. The apartment is adorable and cozy. The fireplace was a big hit, and the TV with Netflix was great for a lazy weekend. The kitchen was also very well supplied with all the dishes and utensils we needed to make some good meals. The neighborhood is very quiet, though there are quite a few houses around. You can walk right down to Duck Lake. Very short drive to the main drag of Interlochen (gas, groceries, restaurants) and also a quick jaunt to Traverse City. We would rebook in a heartbeat!

  • Wonderful stay! The fireplace kept us lovely and warm, and the location is gorgeous! Thank you!

This is a private room in my home. Shared living space, kitchen and bathroom. Nice deck for relaxing. A quiet place to rest while working or visiting the area. Super chill hostess for cool guests. Meals on your own:)
  • Debora was an amazing host. Great late-night conversations and morning coffee as well. Would highly recommend this great place!

  • Debora was pleasant and accommodating when we had to have our daughter stay with us, literally, last minute. We loved her bathroom soaps and being able to play family games at the dining room table each night. Very quiet neighborhood and extremely close to Interlochen Arts Academy if you don't want to make the drive to Traverse City.

  • My wife stayed at Deborah's place this weekend and had a wonderful time. Deborah was a wonderful host. She was very accommodating to my wife's late arrival. The house is as beautiful as the pictures indicate. The room was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. My wife enjoyed Deborah's company and looks forward to seeing her again. Her house is very close to Interlochen Center for the Arts and in a convenient location for the Traverse City area. We highly recommend Deborah's house and will stay there again!

Modern, cheerful home on Cedar Hedge Lake, near Interlochen and Traverse City. Experience tranquility and re-energize kayaking around Cedar Hedge Lake. The house has 100 feet of private lake frontage, accessed through a lovely walk through the woods. Abundant wildlife – bald eagles, loons, deer, and more! Excellent fishing, kayaking, and biking out your door. Only minutes from Interlochen Arts Academy, 15 minutes to Traverse City and 30 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
Full laundry, full kitchen, and wi-fi. There is a TV in the downstairs room with a Roku for streaming. The house has four bedrooms with quality linens and furniture and artwork throughout. The house has two kayaks and life vests, fishing poles, as well as a 25 foot Aqua Patio pontoon boat, available for daily rental/based on availability. A fire pit and gazebo complete the spot for relaxing and reading. The house also has a guitar and ukulele, binoculars and tree/bird/wildlife guide books. Enjoy grilling and lounging on the deck, sitting by the fire, and letting the days pass slowly.
  • Melissa's home on Cedar Lake in Interlochen was the perfect, secluded get away! The Home was big enough and efficient for a family & cozy enough for my dog & myself. The lake & campfire site was super nice, especially @ sunset! Secluded yet 2 minutes to a full grocery & 20 minutes to downtown Traverse City.

    Amanda 2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's place was perhaps one of the best AirBnb we have ever been to !!! We were a group of 8 people and we spent 3 nights and had the most amazing vacation. There is a huge wooden deck in the back, perfect for grilling (grill also provided) . A private dock is just a minute walk away, with free kayaks and life-vests and a fire-pit. The house was amazing as well. There is more than enough space for a large group of friends or a big family get together. The interiors look very new and is very well furnished. There isn't a single thing we had issues with. Given that they just started hosting guests, its amazing how top-notch they already are !

  • Every bit as special as it looks with wonderful and considerate owners too. This home is exactly as advertised - immaculately clean, well appointed, quiet, cozy, and amazingly peaceful. It was the perfect place for me to work remotely for a week while my child attended camp at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Lovers of the great outdoors, like me, will find abundant options to enjoy Sleeping Bear Dunes is just a quick drive up the road and there are plenty of local trails and lakes to explore. Can't wait for my next visit!

  • This cottage is super clean, well equipped and just down the road from Interlochen Arts Camp and State Park (we rode our bikes back and forth). A nice bug-free, air conditioned, wi-fied alternative to camping but still in the beautiful woods! Washer/dryer was a bonus as well as a crazy-clean garage to park.

    Amy2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Walking distance to the state park and popular tourist cities just a few minutes north. The house is all that you need for an up north getaway and Lori and Peter are very responsive to inquiries. We cooked a few meals at home thanks to a fully stocked kitchen. Truly a great experience!

  • The Quaint Cottage was the PERFECT location for my week of adult art classes at Interlochen Center for the Arts! Close yet secluded! Lori and Peter were such gracious hosts. They thought of everything to make my stay comfortable. The Cottage was so clean. As a person with several allergies, this was very important to me. They were so accommodating of my requests. I enjoyed my stay immensely! I highly recommend the Quaint Cottage!

Lakeview Retreat Cottage is across a small, dead-end street from Duck Lake. The cottage has a nice view of the lake and is only about 150 feet from a public dock access. The location is ideal for visiting many surrounding areas including Traverse City, Frankfort, Suttons Bay, Leland, and Empire. Our guests have enjoyed watching the sunrises on the lake, sunsets at Lake Michigan, and exploring our beautiful area.
Lakeview Retreat Cottage has beautiful hardwood floors and comfortable beds. We also offer an outside area including a hammock, gas grill, a picnic table, and a campfire area with chairs. Duck Lake is very clean and guests can bring kayaks, paddle boards, or other water "toys" to enjoy the lake. There are also many beautiful hiking and biking trails.
Because the cottage is on a dead end road, it is very quiet with lots of woods in addition to the lake nearby. It is a great area to take walks or go for a run or a bike ride. Interlochen State Park and Interlochen Arts Academy are also within walking distance. My husband and I have put together lists of restaurants and "things to do" that we leave for our guests in the cottage.
  • Toni was prompt in responding to questions and provided all the help we needed for our stay.

    William2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Toni and Gary were great hosts for our trip to Interlochen. They were so kind, and helpful when we arrived as they gave us suggestions of activities and places to eat in the area. They Even welcomed us over to their place for a bonfire. The place was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The WiFi worked great, there were plenty of towels for us, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for better hosts for our first Airbnb experience!

  • Toni & Gary welcomed us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the cabin. The cabin is clean and nicely appointed, with a great shower. The cabin well suited our purpose. We had friends staying at a different lake house with lake access and really just needed somewhere to sleep, breakfast and shower. Nice street for walking/running too.

    Marie2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is amazing! Toni was super welcoming and accommodating! The cottage is beautiful. Very clean, well taken care of, and has a beautiful view of the lake from the living room. The beds are even super comfy! I honestly can not think of a single complaint about my stay! We spent the weekend here for my 21st birthday, and made memories that will last a life time. We'll definitely be coming back! Thanks so much Toni!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Lakeview Retreat cabin. Toni and her husband Gary were very welcoming. At the cabin, the lake is in front of you, Interlochen State park is behind you, and the Interlochen Center for the Arts is across the street. It's a lovely, quiet setting. You're a few minutes from Traverse City and many other wonderful places to visit in Northern Michigan.

  • This place was perfect for what we needed. We stayed 4 nights, It was clean and the beds were comfy. Our schedule didn't allow us a lot of time at the house but I did get to spend a little time in the hammock and take a walk on the trail that takes you into the park. Toni and Gary are wonderful hosts, I would definitely recommend this place.

  • Tim and Ewa were very kind and welcoming, and their home is absolutely beautiful. It's just secluded enough where you feel that you're far enough away from civilization, but you're not terribly far, convenience-wise. Their cats were also very friendly, but not intrusive in the least. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • I have used Air BnB over a half dozen times, and our experience with Tim and Ewa was by far my favorite! Their home and the area it is nestled into is very lovely. Every touch in their home seems very thoughtful and purposeful--the lighting and colors throughout the living spaces, bedding and towels, and the coffee options (and donuts!). They were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating; we felt so very much at home that I didn't want to leave! We hope to make our way again next time we're in the Interlochen/Traverse City area.

  • There are just no words in our lexicon to describe the charm & warmth of both my hosts & this lovely log cabin by the lake. The bedroom was so sweet & cozy! The cloud like bed gobbled me up so wonderfully after a long arduous journey! I slept like a little baby- it was so quiet & peaceful. The serenity was just what I needed & Ewa & Tim are just nicest people you'll ever meet! Ewa made me feel so comfortable & in the mornings her cold brew coffee so smooth & rich will be missed! I can't wait to come back & stay with you again!!! Loved how close it was to Interlochen Academy of Arts- Many thanks Ewa & Tim!

Ewa and Tim are super nice hosts and a sweet couple, and they have a genuine care for their guests. Peter and Max are also the friendly cats my friend and I have ever met. We are really dog person, but we got along perfectly well with Peter and Max! Thank you Ewa and Tim~~

They were very flexible and accommodating with our schedule. Their home is beautiful and peaceful. We slept great in the very large, comfortable bed - the best rest we've had in a long time! My boyfriend told me he never wants to stay in a hotel again. In fact, he hopes Tim and Ewa are available next time we go to TC.

  • Billy's place was absolutely perfect. The location was beautiful and easy to find, and just 25-30 minutes away from downtown Traverse City. However, with the kayaks, peaceful porch, and comfy beds at Billy's place we rarely wanted to leave! Billy was very respectful of our space and gave us lots of room to hang out and enjoy all the living spaces. I was impressed with how clean everything was and how well decorated the space is. My family of four (tall!) people fit perfectly and there was still room to spare. You truly could not find a better deal for the price. Thank you so much Billy! We hope to be back soon.

The things PEOPLE LOVE about The Lochen House. #1 Location, 5 minutes to the World renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, 20 minutes to Traverse City, 26 miles to the Sleeping Bears Dunes National Park, 17 miles to Crystal Mountain, 3 miles to the Blue Bridge Events Center, 1/2 mile to Interlochen Golf course, 30 miles to The Homested. #2 Our house is newly remodeled, the unit is AIR CONDITIONED for those warm summer days. #3 The DECK is great since it allows you to enjoy the best days of summer outside and grill to your heart's delight with the GRILL found there! Here are 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting. #1 NO PARTIES are permitted in our house or property at all times during your stay. #2 Our house is nice but its not perfect for all people, even though we have put lots of effort into this place there are always small what seem like trivial issues to most that really upset others such as, there is no bathtub, we have a stand up shower, there is no dishwasher, one step up to enter property, etc. #3 We ask all our guests to respect the neighbors and to not be loud or yell or play loud music inside and outside the building at all times during their stay. We expect our Guests to be quiet after 11:00PM. So if you intend to behave like a party animal, our place is not for you but if you intend to behave like a resident, you should love your stay. Now that this is clear, let's get to the description of the place! The Lochen House is located in Interlochen, the center point of activities in the Traverse region. We can accommodate 6 GUESTS. The Lochen House features a kitchen that is fully equipped with all the essentials such as MICROWAVE, POTS & PANS, COFFEE MAKER, TOASTER, BLENDER, SLOW COOKER and your basic kitchen items to cook a nice meal. This house has a beautiful private deck and also has a PATIO TABLE / CHAIRS & outside GRILL so that you can truly enjoy those long summer days.
As noted above we are centrally located to all Northern Michigan has to offer, semi private & wooded setting.
  • We traveled to Traverse City and the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, great location for trips to both. Home was just as described and clean. Loved being able to travel with our dog and have him there to come home to each afternoon. There was a nice state park just a few miles a way that we visited each morning to give him some adventure too. Jeff's communication was great. He answered all our questions in advance and made sure we knew he was available if we needed him.

  • Smack in the middle of all the great spots in North West Michigan, and away from the hustle and bustle of Traverse City. Great communication from Jeff. The cottage is built on a 30,000 sq ft lot. A winding unpaved driveway brings you to the garage (not open) and the cottage entrance. The key feature of the property is the 500 sq ft concrete boathouse deck that runs right to the water and puts you a story above the lake shore. As the photos show, the westward facing deck offers spectacular sunsets. About half of the deck is surrounded by tall pines, which shades half the deck during the hot summer months. The cottage was built in the late 50's and my family added a master bedroom and 2nd bathroom in the early 80's. The cabin is carpeted throughout. Everything about the place is geared toward comfort and relaxation. The furniture is all upholstered and overstuffed. Much of the rustic charm of the original place remains in this 1,500 sq ft cottage. The solid pine-board living area is dominated by a sandstone wood-burning fireplace with a limestone hearth. A wood burning stove sits adjacent to the fireplace and faces the small, open kitchen. One the best features of the cottage is the 50 linear feet of floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the boathouse deck and then to the lake beyond. One truly feels the outside, inside. Minimum rental term is 5 from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends. All other times it is two days. We offer a $150 discount for every 7 night rented.
  • The host, Dean, made us feel welcome and well taken care of. Dean and his property manager were very communicative throughout the entire rental process and let us know that they were available to help if we had any questions or concerns (which we didn't). The cabin was idyllic!

The home is just as in the pictures-the view of the lake spectacular at all times of day and the living spaces ample and comfortable. the only exception here is a good one-the master bedroom actually has a king size bed, not two twins as in the pictures-that was a nice surprise! The other bedrooms have a queen and two twins-more than enough room for our family. It's super, super quiet, except for the birds-you feel very far from civilization but have all the comforts of home. the deck is fabulous-with new furniture and a great firepit, which came in handy on cool evenings. We were there to visit our daughter at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, which was just a 10-12 minute drive away. Dean was great, we had no issues with communication whatsoever, and his instructions were very clear.

  • We had an amazing stay! This is located on a beautiful peninsula with a beautiful patio above the boathouse. We loved the location and extra room in the cottage with great windows to enjoy the view. The sandy beach was awesome for the kids to swim. To walk or bike along the peninsula is beautifully shaded and it's so great to see so many active people out walking/running/biking and enjoying this lovely area. Dean had excellent communication and made sure we were all set for our vacation week, we greatly appreciated it! Thank you so much!

  • We had a wonderful time at the cottage! It was perfect. The house is so cozy and nothing beats how relaxing the lake is and hanging out on the boat garage dock. Dean was such a welcoming and accommodating host, couldn't have asked for better communication. ...& he isn't wrong with the "magical Sunsets at Interlochen" (URL HIDDEN) Beautiful!! Thanks again Dean for everything! Hope to come back next year=)

  • Beautiful spot for getting away from the city. Me and my family had a great time lounging by the sea and relaxing in a beautiful environment.

    Georg2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Magical Sunsets. The cabin is cozy and private. The deck is great for bonfires and you really can't beat the view at sunset. Highly recommend.

True Michigan bliss...
  • This was a great place to stay. Secluded with a beautiful view, but close proximity to downtown traverse city. The house is older, but Mark has stocked it up with kitchen necessities, a grill outside, a bonfire pit, and a ton of space for a bigger group. Definitely worth every penny. Mark himself is also a very nice man and responds to any questions you may have in a very timely fashion. He was a pleasure to work with.

    Natalie2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a large group. Lots of room. Right on a nice large lake. Looks like place has recently been updated still just a little old school inside.

    Josh2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Green Lake Cottage is a great place to stay. Whether you are looking for a central location to visit area attractions or just want a peaceful place to stay and enjoy amazing sunsets, this is the place. We had a wonderful week! The 4 bedroom house easily sleeps 8. It was very clean and very comfortable. A grocery store is very close. We highly recommend the Haufrau House for Sunday brunch or dinner. Bud's is also great and the ice cream is delicious. We can't wait to stay at the cottage again next year!

    Jim2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • It's not a glamorous home, with a little paint and minor repairs, it would really make it better. There are very limited kitchen supplies, so for extended stays (we stayed a week) cooking was a challenge. We took our dogs and it was a great Lake house to never worry about them indoors. The lake itself was wonderful, clean and warm. It was a nice stay, but not a home we would rent again

    Jessica2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This house is a great place for 8-10 people. Everything was clean and we had all the amenities we needed for our one night stay. The view of the lake through the large picture window was so beautiful and relaxing.

    Linda2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • You can not beat this view! This place has a lot of space, large bedrooms. It has a nice dock, firepit, good porch and small inlet to wade in the water or catch minnows. It is an older home but worth it.

    Melissa2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described and worked perfect for our party of 7. Bonfire pit and great view of the lake.

    Aaron2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was located in a peaceful and quiet area, just in front of the lac. Perfect for a quiet week end out of the city. The house is big, just what we needed for a group of 10 people. Mark made the check in and out easy. I recommend this house.

You’ll love my place because of the proximity to everything!
This is our family's cabin. It is not the Ritz. It IS quaint, and cozy, and an excellent value for the price. I have appliances from 1953 which are pristine for their age but admittedly, not the most state of the art. To help out, I've added a fridge in the basement with a larger freezer. The beds are comfy, shower hot, and the coffee maker works great. There is a large deck out front with furniture that may have to be wiped down prior to use (or just throw a towel on it). I have just upgraded to cable and wifi for the indoorman in your group. It is not perfect, but has come a long way. There are small areas of trim to finish, no iron or ironing board (because WHO IRONS while on vacation in Northern Michigan?), and the water is from a well (Ithink it is some of the nicest well water I've seen but some city dwellers may smell a faint odor on occasion). I'm trying to list all of the bad here so guests don't have unrealistic expectations. What you do get is a lot of space and beds for the money. As most people vacationing up north, you aren't going to spend your waking hours sitting at the cabin are you?
  • Great house centrally located, about 30 min from sleeping bear dunes and 20 min from traverse City. Decorated very cute. Older appliances but they worked great!! I think it added to the charm. Great value for the money!!

  • Such a great find! Quiet spot and perfectly situated between places we wanted to go. 20 minutes to Traverse City and 30 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes which were on our agenda. Close to a gas station, grocery store, and restaurants. We enjoyed coming back each night to relax!

  • Ok for the money. House needs some work

    Deborah2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cute place. Location wasn't the best, and no yard to speak of. The water pressure and appliances were not very good.

    Katie2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, close to TC yet in the middle of nowhere. Very clean, cozy, spacious and much better than we expected. Kristi 's description doesn't do it justice!

  • This house is a great location to visit Traverse and or attend an event in Interlochen. Nothing beats amenities like a washer and dryer when traveling with kids. Cute as a button. Fridge is small with no real freezer so just an FYI if you would need that. Kristi was super nice and available anytime!

    Jenni2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Felt this place was good value. It was very clean. We stayed here with our 3 young kids and a couple and we were comfortable. Loved how close it is to Traverse City (about 20mins away). The place was warm and inviting. Kristi, our host was great with communication and was very kind. Only thing to mention is the stove is quite old so if you are planning on cooking meals, it could take awhile. The place was great though. Also, we weren't expecting wifi as it wasn't listed, but it has wifi which was a great bonus! We would definitely recommend this place as well as we would stay here again :)

Our three generation family group of 12 people aged 5 to 76 loved hanging out in the common rooms, game room, and lovely grounds. We especially enjoyed the private beach, fire pit, deck, paddle boat, and nice gas grill. The spacious setting that looked out on the lake was gorgeous and relaxing.

  • What a terrific place. A beautiful house in a uniquely gorgeous spot. There's lots to do right around the house, but Traverse City is about 20 mins away. Sunset right over the lake. My kids spent half the weekend fishing off the dock. Great kitchen, comfy beds, very gracious hosts who do everything right. I hope to go back...

    David2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We picked this house not only b/c it looked beautiful in the photos and was just where we wanted to be, but also because of the many, many, many overwhelmingly positive reviews. Now we will happily become just another one of the many guest to shout the praises of David and Lin! Seriously, the house is wonderful and the view sublime. It was super clean when we arrived, everything perfectly organized and David and Lin had a nice little "arrival" spread of gifts, coffee cake, local breads and fruits. There is so much space in the house (we had 6 adults and 4 kids), lots of private nooks and crannies, lots of bathrooms, two decks, one screened in porch. It never ever felt crowded. Everything is very intuitive, the house is fully stocked and with the dock, kayaks, rowboat, grill and fire pit, we barely had to leave the house for four days. It was amazing and beyond the house, serious kudos to the hosts Every single question was answered promptly and kindly by David and Lin. Seriously probably the best hosts I've ever come across. An awesome trip. Thanks David and Lin!

    Stephen2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dave and Lin's place is absolutely gorgeous. First impressions are everything, and they did not fall the least bit short. Clean, inviting, spacious, and most of all the owners truly tailored my family's vacation experience to our needs. Will definitely consider this place again when we travel back up north! Thanks Dave and Lin!

    Christopher2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was one of the best in Traverse City area. Lin was an extremely helpful host that you would like to have every time you want to rent a property. She always gave prompt response to your concerns and was always easy to be reached. The cabin has everything you will ever need from kitchen utensils up until kayaking boat. I would extremely suggest this place if you want to stay for the weekend at Traverse city area. Love it!Will be back soon for sure!

  • Great family getaway. Plenty of room for our kids and grandkids. Kayaks were a big hit, along with fully stocked kitchen. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Consider 4 hotel rooms without the kitchen, fireplace, etc. And you will better understand the value.

    Pamela2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lin and Dave were amazing hosts! Their home was extremely clean and equipped with everything needed to make our vacation exceptional. The setting is serene and the wildlife fascinating, and their welcome basket of local goodies a delightful surprise! We would love to come back again and again!

    Kelly2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We have rented many homes via Airbnb and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) over the years and never in all of our experiences have we enjoyed hospitality like we received from Lin and Dave! Their home on Lake Dubonnet is absolutely wonderful - cozy, wonderful amenities, beautiful location...we could have just stayed in the house the entire time we were visiting and gazed at the views! The home is comfortable and our group of eight (4 couples) was very comfortable. We didn't want to leave at the end of our stay! Lin and Dave were available for questions (with almost immediate responses!) and graciously and generously provided a host of wonderful treats that greeted us upon arrival. We couldn't have been happier with our choice and definitely hope to be back! Thanks for everything!!

  • Very close to the water and she seems to have kayaks for use. Is this correct, MaryEllen??

  • We had no problem finding the place and getting settled in, despite ME being out when we arrived. It's a short 20 minutes from Traverse City and a nice option if you want to stay outside the city or not in a hotel. The house is surrounded by trees and borders a pond, which was really beautiful in the morning.

  • The house & neighborhood are BEAUTIFUL! The house is in a very quiet area w/access to Duck Lake and is close [15 min or so] to Traverse City and Leelanau County. ME is very gracious and a real joy to deal with.

  • MaryEllen is so sweet. When we got there she had towels laid out for us with a nice large bedroom and a queen sized bed. She even had fresh flowers for us in the bedroom. It's always going to be a little weird staying in a strangers home, but Mary Ellen let us do our thing and made it very comfortable for us. All in all we had a great stay in a gorgeous house that will be even better once she's done fixing it up!

  • Mary Ellen's place was easy to find, clean, and lovely overall. It was roughly a 20 minute drive from Traverse City. The room and bathroom were located at one end of the house, allowing for privacy. Mary Ellen herself was incredibly kind and respectful. She woke up before us but was quiet and courteous. She made us coffee and breakfast - yogurt, granola, and blueberries - and was just a very pleasant human being. I highly recommend her place.

  • Great couple. Very friendly and easygoing. They kindly let us use their laundry and utensils, and offered many great tips for tourism. Mina, their dog, is very cute. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. Will definitely come back again if we are in the area.

    Gen2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately I cannot give a review like other guests do! It is pretty nice to have your own bath, to use netflix in your room. Of course! The room itself is small and to find a place to sit down, having breakfast is an adventure. Kitchen, also the livingroom are slovenly and disorganised. People, who want to drink coffee in the morning....take instant coffee with you! No coffee maker! In fact, not very comfortable! I stayed for four nights, paid 370 Dollar (92 Dollar per night). Too expensive!!! By the way, who is Ashley? Never seen!

    Sabine2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley and Kevin's house is secluded, but close enough to Traverse City to be a great and affordable home base. They, and their sweet dog, Mina, were happy to give us space and privacy, but were very friendly and offered some excellent suggestions for visiting the area as well. The house was perfect for the two of us and we enjoyed our stay!

  • Ashley has a beautiful and exceptionally clean home, located in a quiet subdivision. The room and bathroom are nicely set-up with towels, clean bedding, AC, etc. - the whole nine yards. I would definitely recommend.

  • My parents and my husband and I (2 couples) stayed at Tom's for a few days to watch some baseball at the Traverse City Beach Bum stadium as well as attend the Cherry Festival. Arriving was simple and well organized. Tom is very friendly and was ready to meet my parents for check in (we arrived a little later). He communicates promptly and is happy to answer any questions we had prior to arrival. The apartment is located in the upstairs of their house, but has a separate access and parking. After checking in we didn't see Tom at all, but we felt comfortable that if we needed anything Tom would be prompt to help us. The backyard is secluded and beautiful/ well kept and Tom is happy to see guests use the space. Although there is no direct access to the lake, there is a public beach down the road that Tom described in his welcome binder. We were the first guests to stay here, but everything was ready on time. The bed linens and towels were brand new. There is a keurig coffee maker and coffee available as well as tea and a well stocked cabinet of spices and other nik naks. There were numerous pots and pans and other cookware (no toaster, but we had no problem toasting bread in the broiler.) We chose to purchase our own drinking water, but were unsure if the water is well or city. The space is basically an open floorplan kitchen and family room with a small bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has a full bed and there are sleeping cots available, although we brought our own queen size air mattress and had no problem fitting it in the main room. There is also a full sized couch and loveseat as well as a television with cable. Wifi was easy to connect to. The air conditioning was window air conditioners that did the job very effectively. The location is an easy 20 minute drive into downtown Traverse city as well as being nearby the other beautiful attractions in both Traverse City and Interlochen. We hope this helps anyone looking to stay with Tom! We had a great time and hope you do as well!

  • Toms place is in a scenic neighborhood not far from the city. We had events all over the area and it was a quick trip to all events. It is much more private than a hotel. Bring food and water with you.
