Vacation Rentals in Dittisham

Just booked in Dittisham

Our boat is a 10 metre Sea Ray Sedan Flybridge and is available for you to stay on for weekends, whole weeks or more. We offer marina based holidays only (i.e. the boat stays in the Marina - this is not a sea-going charter) in beautiful surroundings only 3 minutes walk from Brixham town.
Not everybody gets a chance to stay in such beautiful surroundings, and so close to the sea. This is a great way to stay in the area and a really different travel experience.
You are right in Brixham and are on the south west coast path. South Devon is a beautiful place and there is so much to do in the surrounding area, including visits to Dartmouth, Plymouth and much more
  • What a fantastic weekend, we only wish we had booked for longer. The boat is fabulous, Alan has thought of everything, very much like glamping but on a boat! the instructions left are easy to follow, the location is brilliant. I have already recommended to friends and family and cannot wait to rebook Thank you Lisa, Daniel and Lola

  • Had a lovely stay on the Anguilla Promise, pleasantly surprised how big she was, and how comfortable. Couldn't have asked for anymore from Alan, checking in and out was so easy and any questions I had were answered very promptly. Will definitely be looking to go back again! Thanks very much!

  • Fantastic ! This is our second time staying aboard this lovely boat. Everything you need is on board and she is really comfortable and spacious. The Marina is just a stones throw away from Brixham so it's easy to walk into town for anything you need. If you want a great experience in a beautiful setting then book this place. You won't regret it .

  • This was a really excellent weekend break for us. The setting is quite special and what a lovely boat!

    Jeremy2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Contact with Alan was brilliant, he even contacted us a few weeks before our stay to give us some do's and don't and what to expect when we there. We were also contacted when we arrived to see if everything was okay and we had arrived. We called the marina when we arrived and had step by step instructions on how to get to the free car park on site.

    Melanie2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed on the boat for my husband's 40th birthday and had an amazing time! The boat is lovely and in a beautiful, relaxing location. We went to Verna's Pepper Shack for food which is a must for anybody going into Brixham. Paul was super helpful and a great host. I would recommend this place and we will definitely be going back!

    Lisa2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow...Need I say more? We've been to Brixham in the past and always stayed in hotels but spotted Alan's boat and thought how different this would be. For us, Alan has been the perfect host, easily contactable and with excellent instructions and information in the handover book. Parking in the marina multi storey car park is only a couple of minutes walk from the marina and the marina staff are very friendly and helpful. The showers are excellent and extremely clean. There were two of us staying on the boat and we found it very spacious. We only made coffee on board but you can cook if you want to. We didn't bother using the toilet on board as the shower block was close by. It was lovely and sunny so we enjoyed relaxing on the top deck, watching the other boats. There are fantastic fish restaurants and a lovely little cafe close by. We walked to Torquay via the coastal path which was an easy 9 mile walk and got the ferry back which goes about every half hour. Alan, thank you so much for a lovely weekend and we will definitely be staying again!!

    Carol2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We expected a quiet tranquil weekend and got that and much more. First the boat is cosy but fun and comfortable. It gives you an idea of what giving it all up to live by the sea might really be like. We relaxed straight away. Second the marina is really lovely. The facilities are excellent, shower block is really clean and modern, no waiting. And third it's a fantastic angle on Brixham which is a busy fishing and tourist town. Absolutely gorgeous and the seafood is wonderful. All in all a great break on the Anguilla Promise in Brixham, we'd love to visit again.

  • We found Annette to be a great host with lots of ideas and information for things to do and see in south Devon. We were made most welcome and Annette was very helpful in all aspects of our stay. Our rooms were comfortable and clean throughout. Great setting with views, parking on site.

  • A great place to stay - exactly as described and everything you need for refreshments and breakfast. Clean and comfortable and in a lovely pretty village that can be reached by ferry boat as well as road.

  • Nice and quiet place. Perfect for a weekend break

  • Annette was a fantastic host. She was incredibly flexible (as I was late on arrival) and was able to accommodate everything we needed during our stay. The BnB is great, a lovely bedroom with en-suite and a good sized living space with LOADS of local information and goodies - and a large parking space just to top it off. The local area is beautiful, I never expected it to be as picturesque as it was. I would highly recommend this little gem of an AirBnB!

    Jamal2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Annette was very patient when I had to alter the booking a couple of times due to a last minute change of plan. We were visiting friends in the area and were taking part in some water sports in the sea, and Annette even offered us the use of her tumble dryer for our gear! There were plenty of options available in the BnB for breakfast, with hot drinks too. Annette also took the time to direct us around the area and advise us on the best local pubs!

    Helen2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place for a couple with 6 year-old, she could have her own room with a sofa bed and we had the bedroom. Great host, very good communication and advice, and very well stocked fridge and other supplies. Comfortable beds (including the sofa bed), and lots of light. View out the front is great, and although the actual guest rooms look out over the garden, the info pack says you're welcome to use the front terrace. Highly recommended!

A one double bedroomed annexe, with ensuite shower room, large open plan living/dining/kitchentte, own access and parking. Very light, airy, private and peaceful, yet 5 mins walk from quaint village centre (pubs & shops) & beautiful River Dart/Quay.
The annexe is made up of a large open plan sitting area with a freeview tv & wifi, a kitchenette with fridge, combination microwave/oven/grill, double ceramic hob, toaster, kettle, sink and all the utensils/crockery/cutlery etc needed. There is a small table with chairs for dining or working. Electric heaters are provided. There is a separate double bedroom with an ensuite shower room. There is a large ordnance survey map on the wall of the local beautiful south hams area, as well as guide books to help you explore. Tea, coffee, milk and a Devon treat with be waiting for you on arrival!
Stoke Gabriel is located on the River Dart, about halfway between the delightful historic town of Totnes and beautiful Dartmouth. The annexe is about 2 minute walk from the mill pool, which leads to the quay and river, about 5 minute walk away. Although the annexe is located in a very quiet spot of the village (the nearest road is a dead end so not much passing traffic), there is a lot going on in the village which has a great community spirit. There is lots to do for everyone...walking, crabbing, canoeing, eating, drinking in one of the 4 pubs/cafes.
  • Fantastic little place and perfect for a toddler. Great location. So much to do in the area.

  • We had a really lovely few days at Lexi's place. Ideal base to explore the area. A real tranquil hideaway, perfect for us as we wanted to rest and recharge. Would recommend and would love to go back in spring/summertime.

  • This is a perfect base for discovering Totnes and Dartmouth and exploring the villages and coastline, and it was a wonderful introduction to this picturesque area. The accommodation is comfortable, light, spacious, and well-equipped, with everyone you need for a weekend escape or a longer stay. The facilities in Stoke Gabriel and the local walks mean you can park your car and forget about it until it's time to return home. Further afield, there are plenty of destinations to suit all tastes within a short drive along scenic back roads with stunning views. Thank you, Lexi, for your warm welcome and clear directions. Three nights wasn't long enough!

    Guy2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay, listen to a stream and to the silent nature, and maybe write a journal. Lexi and her husband are most kind people loving to share about Stoke Gabriel, ancient place of ancient tree... i utmost love this little village.

    iris2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 4 nights with our young baby and it couldn't have been better. Just the right amount of space and a lovely patch of garden too. It's completely private and has everything you might need including some homemade treats. Stoke Gabriel is a lovely village, we really enjoyed our stay, thankyou.

    Sean2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for a couple in a very well appointed and comfortable Annex, accurately covered in the details. Quiet and lovely position near to Torbay, Totnes and the Dart Valley. We will certainly be back!

    Stephen2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend staying at the annexe. Spotlessly clean, warm and cosy, perfect for a last minute getaway from the city. Stoke Gabriel is a lovely village, great views but is very dark at night (as city dwellers we didn't think of this!) But we made it back from the pub in one piece! (We forgot the torch!) We had a great meal in the church Inn pub. Excellent hosts, highly recommended x

Hello there, Thanks for your enquiry about our North Barn. Sadly we have builders taking the deck down at the moment and re-building it + the studio underneath - so it is noisy from 8.am - 4.pm on weekdays. We hope it will be finished by the end of November, but we don’t know exactly when ... Weekends would be quiet in the barn, but with no use of the deck … a weekend would be at a reduced price. We’ll look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Jilly Sutton.
  • This has to be one of the best airbnb stays we've ever had. The view from the barn is stunning and the interior is beautiful. Jilly was a very kind host and showed us around and made sure we had all we needed. We wish we could have stayed longer and have vowed to return soon! We only had 3 nights here and I would most definitely recommend a longer stay. We feel well and truly relaxed after our stay. Thank you Jilly and Peter.

    Sarah2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place with a tranquil view, perfect for unwinding. Lovely hosts, would highly recommend at least a week there!

    Eddie2015-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jilly is a fantastic host; she made us feel welcome from the off and went beyond to ensure that we would have a lovely, easy stay. The barn itself is superb - light, airy, well-prepared and entirely encourages relaxation (if the view wasn't enough). The balcony deserves a special mention for anyone who enjoys bird watching or star gazing! We had a beautiful few days and came away feeling entirely relaxed; hopefully we will get to return one day!

    Siân2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. A great location - the view of the river is a great tonic in the mornings and the whole place is well designed to provide a comfortable relaxing environment.

    Gary2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best Airbnb I have ever stayed at. The pictures do not and cannot do it justice. We had a wonderful week here with my 5 year old and spent a week visiting loads of local attractions all a short drive away. Jill made us feel very welcome. We will be back North Barn is truly a magical place .

    Sally2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn was the perfect place to get some overdue writing completed. Beautifully equipped, stunning views and as much peace and quiet as you could hope for. Jilly was the perfect host - accepting my booking at short notice and being there if needed. Will definitely return to make more of the fab pubs in walking distance.

    Justin2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I were looking for a place to completely switch off and relax, and we found it at Whitestone Farm! From the basic but functional design of the interiors in the North Barn to the location, we found ourselves in possibly one of the most comfortable and restful surroundings we have ever experienced. The barn was fully equipped and we were not wanting for anything. The barn was also fully functioning with wonderful water pressure and hot water in the bathroom, which made for a very warming shower after walking along the country lanes in the cooler autumn temperatures. Most of all we enjoyed the fireplace which only added to an already extremely cosy atmosphere at night. We will never forget the sunrise each morning which was nothing short of spectacular from the living room couch with a hot cup of tea and toast warming in the kitchen. Overall, it is hard to sum up our week in the North Barn as there were so many wonderful memories - form watching the tides of the River Dart come in and out, to seeing a seal, bunny rabbits and beavers. Whitestone Farm appeared a place of great beauty and whilst isolated from the town felt extremely safe, clean and friendly. We know for sure that we miss it already! We look forward to returning again some day! It was a home away from home! Thank you Jilly for hosting us! Roger + Soraya

    Roger2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Hi Jilly, Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our few days down in Devon and how glad I am that I picked North Barn. I don't think I've woken up at 7am on a Sunday in many years but the sunshine and view made us want to be up and not miss a moment of that wonderful view and tranquillity. Thank you also for all your recommendations! We loved The Riverford Field Kitchen, it was the perfect start to a wonderful few days. Getting the boat from Dittisham to Dartmouth was just lovely and indulging in a fish feast at the Anchorstone Café is something I would happily drive the 4 hours for! All in all, a lovely memorable 4 days that we will no doubt be wanting to re-create on a yearly basis! Best wishes Tracy and Patrick.

Peaceful flat in rural Devon. Glorious walks by River Dart and the sea. 15 minute walk to Agatha Christie's house, Greenway. Sailing, canoeing, beaches. Small self-contained flat, fully equipped kitchen, TV, wifi, central heating, parking.
The space is self-contained and with a kitchen, so you'll be able to make meals if you wish. There are cafes and pubs not far away if you prefer to eat out.
Greenway and Coleton Fishacre are close by - and both are beautiful National Trust properties. Coleton with glorious garden and access to cliff path walks. Dartmouth, Brixham, Totnes and Dartington are all within 30 minutes by car. Slapton Sands (bird watching), Start Point and Beesands are a good outing beyond Dartmouth. Boat trips on the River Dart, a steam train, canoeing, sailing, beaches. Great walks from the door. We're directly on several marked footpaths. So make sure you stay long enough to enjoy some of these!
  • We loved our cosy stay at Drift House Annexe. We received a friendly welcome and had everything we needed. Beautiful walks from the doorstep. We hope to stay again in the not too distant future.

  • Absolutely lovely! The accommodation is very nicely done, clean, chic and modern with just about everything you could need. The immediate area is beautiful - stunning scenery within a short walk of the cottage. Rosemary was welcoming and on hand should we have needed help with anything.

  • Very nice place and very welcoming owners. They provide a lot of information and maps of walks and things to in the surroundings. Walking down to the little ferry to Dartmouth (20 min.) and walking back from Dartmouth in a few hours is one of the many great ways of spending the day.

  • Drift House was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Rosemary was most welcoming and the flat was terrific.

    Keith2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Rosemary is a perfect host. The room(s) are comfortable and big. It is a good place to start walks. We can recommend this place for a visit to this beautiful region.

  • We had a lovely stay at Drift House Annex and would love to visit again. The surrounding area was stunning - beautiful walks just outside the door, and a particular highlight was jumping on a boat to Dittisham for lunch. The annex was very clean, and exactly as the photos show. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook in, and the bed was comfy! The property is an annex to Rosemary's house (with a separate entrance etc) so while the area is very rural, if you want somewhere totally remote from other properties, this isn't for you. That said, Rosemary and her husband made our stay even better - they were on hand to give us recommendations about the area, directing us to things we would never have known of. Thanks Rosemary, hopefully see you again soon!

    Amy2016-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was given a warm welcome by Julian, Rosemary's husband who showed me around the property. The annex is very comfortable with all mod cons and has a lovely bathroom. It is well situated for pleasant walks to Greenway House and the beautiful countryside and Dart River.

Charm and good design combine to welcome you to a stay in our eccentric, very romantic little Folly. The bedroom has a large, comfy bed with both a bathroom and a separate shower room and a boat seat on the decking over the stream. Above there is a stylish compact kitchen/dining area, and a balcony looking over the stream. Then into a cosy sitting-room with a wood-burning stove, a comfy sofa, a sleigh bed/sofa, a balcony overlooking the grass tennis court, a record player and a television.
The Folly is very romantic and special with a beautiful little boat seat overlooking the gurgling stream ... how many people can say they have stayed in a very unique Folly?
Fingals is a mile away from Dittisham, a beautiful village sited on the edge of the river Dart. As well as the many popular tourist spots right on our doorstep; Agatha Christie's recently restored summer house and gardens are just across the river, there are many delights a short drive away including the renowned Devon beaches and Dartmoor National Park. Situated in the most idyllic location on the edge of the River Dart and next to a freshwater lake, this substantial property is a 10 minute drive from Dartmouth between Kingswear & Galmpton. You can simply relax and switch off watching the wildlife on the lake, the comings and goings on the River, wave to the steam train as it passes over the viaduct or explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, local national trust properties and nearby coastal walks.
We have marketed the property through another channel for the past few year but are testing out Airbnb, so for reassurance as its a new listing here are a couple of past guests' reviews of the property: “Wow factor again and again ... Expect your first visit to be a series of, “WOW!” moments. Initially it’s the view down to the River Dart as you descend the steep private drive, actually several wows during that. The inside of the cottage is roomy to say the least. A table-tennis table takes up less than half the conservatory, there are two lounges and a huge kitchen with two dishwashers. It’s all well-appointed and it is very well kept and maintained – thanks to caretakers. Walking by the river, around the lake / pool or into the woods is another sequence of wow moments, especially when you see the kingfisher or the steam train go over the viaduct, still inside the property boundaries! ...This is a perfect place to relax, chill-out and have a quiet family holiday. But it’s also an ideal centre from which to explore the beautiful south Devon countryside, by car or on foot, including local farm ciders. Of course driving after drinking cider is not recommended". Trip Advisor "A Little Bit Of Heaven .. We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage (more a house ) the location is out of this world is very roomy and well laid out we spent our late afternoon/early evening down beside the river Dart drinking our Gin & Tonic and watching the boats going up and down the river, there are lots of wildlife in and around the Lake and lots of places to visit close by I could have stayed there a lot longer, well worth booking and having your own bit of heaven ". Trip Advisor The home offers very spacious accommodation comprising of a large kitchen, with an Aga and French doors opening into the garden; a cosy sitting room with french doors opening into a sizeable garden room running the length of the property, with further doors opening onto the garden in front of the property with views over the River Dart and Maypool lake. Also on the ground floor is a large dining area leading to the kitchen and a ground floor double bedroom. There is also a utility room to the rear with a washing machine and dryer. On the first floor there are a further three bedrooms. A substantial master bedroom with walk-in wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom, plus french doors leading out onto a balcony with views over the River Dart, Maypool lake and the viaduct. A double bedroom to the front also benefits from access out onto the balcony, with a further twin bedroom and the family bathroom to the rear. The garden wraps around the front of the property, is laid to lawn with a sunken BBQ area and edged by the large Maypool lake (and its resident pair of swans) with the banks of the River Dart a few steps away. A footpath leads around the banks of the lake, taking in the breathtaking viaduct, built in 1860 by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as part of the former SDR/GWR railway from Newton Abbot to Kingswear, now taking the Steam Train to and from Kingswear to Paignton, leading back around to the banks of the river. Parking is available to the rear of the property.
There are plenty of places to visit nearby, such as Dartmouth, Brixham, the National Trust Greenway Estate (home of Agatha Christie), the National Trust Coleton Fishacre Estate, Sharpham Vineyard Estate, Blackpool Sands, Slapton Sands. Or take a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Train or one of the various River Dart boats and enjoy the stunning scenery. Or lastly, enjoy the outstanding landscapes walking the Dart Valley Trail linking in with the South West Coastal Path.
  • We felt very lucky to be able to stay here, it's a beautiful house in a breathtaking location. Upon arrival Becki the caretaker gave us a tour of the house and made us feel very welcome. There's lots of lounge and dining spaces which make this a really easy place for a big family to stay together without feeling crowded. The kitchen is really well equipped and the beds are pretty comfy. Most of all we loved the garden and the views - it would be amazing in the summer.

    Sarah2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical. My grand-daughter just loved it. Walking around the lake, the stream train 'toots'..., the swans, ducks... and the little ferry to a great restaurant and pub. Heaven for all!

  • We had 3 nights here and what a fantastic place it is. The house was as advertised and probably seemed bigger when we got in. It takes a bit of finding down a very steep road, so if the weather is icy, this could be a problem. Otherwise we all found it OK, well sign posted and the postcode given took the sat nav to near enough the end of the private road (which is the steep bit). All amenities were as described and the views are spectacular, from the balcony which surrounds the master & second bedroom, down the River Dart. It's about a 10 to 15 minute journey to the Upper ferry, which runs constantly across to Dartmouth. All in all a wonderful place, very comfortable and enough space for a large family to use as a base for the area. The host was very attentive with replying to questions we had, and made the stay very easy.

  • This is a truly an idyllic place to stay, the rooms are spacious and comfortable with views of the lake and river with all it's wildlife and boats. The steam train going across the viaduct is the icing on the cake. An inspirational place for artists or those looking for peace and tranquility. Bring binoculars to make the most of the scenery.

    Philippa2017-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Claire provided prompt responses to all our questions prior to arrival and with plenty of info on things to do in the area. The property is in a truly fantastic location with the wonderful grounds (including the lake) and the steam train passing occasionally in the distance over the viaduct. It is adjacent to Agatha Christie's former home (Greenway) and I can see why she had chosen this area! The property was clean and well-maintained and very spacious (our kids loved the table tennis table) and I can highly recommend the "round robin" as you get to see what a wonderful property this is twice (once on the boat and then fleetingly on the steam train). Also plenty for our kids to do in the area too - you won't get bored but it was tempting to spend all our time just relaxing at the property!

    Anthony2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We thought the house would be pretty special but we did not realise quite how special. Maypool Cottage enjoys the most incredible setting in its own valley with its own lake and a waterfront on to the Dart affording direct views into Dartmouth. The steam railway goes past on a viaduct right above the house and the train driver will wave and toot his horn if he sees you. My family, friends and I were very well looked after by Claire and her family, and by the housekeeper and we were truly grateful for the opportunity to have stayed in such a magical place.

    Louis2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible place. peaceful. remote. beautiful. natural. fabulous views. next to river and lake and woods and birds and frogs and dragonflies and squirrels and fish and a seal swam past and a heron and ducks and.... . ...... huge... no really... huge house! Really nice and helpful caretakers on site who live in a partitioned wing of the house. the left windows as you look at it. lovely people. crazy steep hill in and out so road walking is not for the infirm. nice local pub but more if a drive away unless adventurous. wonderful view down the river to Dartmouth in the distance. lovely walk around lake. .. a bit like a mini "lost gardens of ". Hesitate to recommend it in case you book it when we want to return. ... :)

  • Only good things to say! Great location, excellent host and caretaker, a lovely spacious place, exactly as described. And we managed to brush up on our table tennis skills too! Beautiful part of the world. We'd absolutely recommend staying here.

  • Our stay at Overcreek was superb in every way! Brian was fantastic. His instructions from getting there to getting around to local recommendations were fantastic and on point. We had one query during our stay which Brian sorted out for us immediately. The house is in the perfect location whether you want to explore Devon or just cosy up at the house. Trust me we will be visiting again!

  • We had a wonderful time at this beautiful house which surpassed all expectations. On arrival the house was warm, cosy and immaculate and the welcome pack was very informative. The neighbourhood has some of the most beautiful walks we have been on and is in a convenient location for both a shop and two pubs. We would highly recommend this house and would definitely like to stay here again.

  • My family and l would definitely recommend staying in Brians property. The house is in a beautiful location and is very well kept, just perfect for peace and quiet but close to amenities when needed. Do follow Brian's written directions as sat nav may get you lost.

  • Overcreek is a well located and well resourced cottage in a peaceful location. The views from the property are stunning and inside it is a beautifully furnished and comfortable cottage. Brian was a.good host who remained in regular communication with us before and during our stay. Stoke Gabriel village is a fifteen minute walk from the cottage and there are two friendly pubs and a shop there. I would recommend this property for a peaceful getaway.

Stoke Gabriel is lovely. We enjoyed walking through the woods to the mill pond where our son enjoyed crabbing while we had a drink in the sun. Lots of beaches and things to do nearby too. Really recommend!

A modern house in the beautiful village of Stoke Gabriel with it's ancient Church and 2 pubs on the River Dart.A quiet location with views over the millpool, a ten minute stroll into the village or along the banks of the millpool to the Quay, known for it's crabbing and Rivershack Cafe (in season). No TV but WiFi & DVD player, ideal for anyone who enjoys walking, exploring, Agatha Christie (Greenway is nearby) or just relaxing and drinking! Dartmoor, Totnes & the seaside are a short drive away.
Food available at both pubs, at Emma's (a bring your own wine restaurant), and at the Rivershack Cafe (in season). The Village Stores & Post Office is well stocked with provisions. The village has no street lighting so it will be dark at night unless the moon is visible. Great for star gazing but we can provide a torch for walking into the village if required.
  • Highly recommended, great place, Amanda, Roger and locals all very welcoming. Walking distance to 4 great eating places 2 of which are great pubs.

    Nicole2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb experience, we'd love to come back!! Lovely room in a tranquil location, I cannot begin to recommend this place enough! Incredible value because you get your own bedroom (with TV), bathroom and study space that separate from the rest house so you can be at ease. Amanda's partner Rodger is a fantastic, chill host with a good sense of humour. He offered to take us out to the local pubs on his boat and it was the best experience of our stay! If you come here check the Castle House Inn, their proper pies are to die for! It's a bit tough to get around and out of Stoke Gabriel without a car but that didn't stop us enjoying this place.

We are on the Mill Creek so step into the estuary at high tide. We have dinghies and canoes to play with & u can bring your own boat. You’ll love the outdoors space. The house is quirky, homely, comfy and clean so priced to reflect the slighty crazy state. The pool is fun.2 kitchens, 2 ensuite bedrooms, 2 twins upstairs suitable for kids with 1 room leading through to the 2nd. Parking for 3-4 cars.. Our home is good for families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Water Edge is a dream garden with a quirky home. Ideal for families and groups. Swimming pool, soft play zone for youngsters, outdoor badminton, Pétanque pitch, swings, table tennis, boat store, canoe and old kayak to use and drying mud mooring available for your own boat. The house is a mix of clean comfort and light with great views across the beautiful sloping gardens and over Dittisham Mill creek, with evidence of its 30's origins and 70's update. So it is offered in all its unmodernised format. It is homely and practical, whilst not currently being of the style and standard that most of us would want to live in permanently. It is equipped with double oven, two fridges, washing machine and dishwasher in the main kitchen and a further oven, fridge and tumble dryer in the 'annexe'. This annexe has a double en suite bedroom with new comfortable double bed and plenty of wardrobe space. The en suite is currently un modernised but has clean corner bath, basin and wc and both have clean but tatty carpets! There is a lovely sun room and dining room that adjoins the ' annexe' end and the main house. From here you can enter the pool room and changing rooms. The main living room is comfortable with modern carpet, wood burner and two patio doors onto ...the patio, which has magnificent views and a basic BBQ on the lower patio. The master bedroom has a modern comfortable double bed with memory foam mattress. The ensure bathroom is amazing or bizarre in its 70's style. The double bath is a must even if the jacuzzi doesn't work at present. The shower whilst also dated provides a great hot shower.
We love living in the village, visiting the pubs and cafe, boating with the canoe or dory, walking the riverside and nearby coastal footpaths, visiting Dartmouth and Totnes by boat or car
  • Peters place is located in a gorgeous south Devon village with 2 great pubs and lovely cafe/restaurant ..Village shop is amazingly well stocked..ferry goes to Dartmouth and Greenway. .crabbing off wharf. .great canoeing in the estuary. .the house is well equipped and comfortable with table tennis and an indoor pool and back garden leading down to the waters edge. The Spanish Boathouse is on Galmpton Creek and is close to Dartmouth, Dittisham, the beaches of Torbay and the South Hams, with footpaths, golf, restaurants and decent pubs nearby. The Boathouse is right on the River with launching and mooring available by arrangement. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The Boathouse is ideal for couples and singles. If needs be, there is a sofa bed in the lounge (for an additional charge) but be aware that the place is not huge ....
The Boathouse was recently rebuilt having fallen into disrepair. Historically the original structure is Tudor and was once used to house Spanish prisoners from the Armada (hence the name) and the river actually sloshes around beneath you. It sits at quay level below the main house (built for Edward VII when Prince of Wales at Dartmouth Naval College). We may be able to rent you a double kayak, 4hp inflatable or 50hp Boston Whaler (if you have at least an ICC level 2). This is strictly by arrangement and depends on our own usage... all strictly at your own risk - we're not a professional rental company and these are our own private boats
We are walking distance of the local pub and steam railway station (for Dartmouth or Paignton) as well as Agatha Christie's house at Greenway and Greenway Quay for foot ferries to Dittisham and Dartmouth. The house has footpaths leading to the South West Coastal path, Greenway and Brixham.

Whilst the kitchen may not be a modern high spec affair it was fully equipped and clean enough and meant we could easily relax in a home-from-home-like manner. The dining area, again, was relatively basic but more than adequate. The lounge is tastefully furnished and very comfortable for a cosy night in. All beds were comfortable too - we all slept well. Nice decor and good storage. The cottage has some lovely touches such as an extensive array of books, games and colouring materials. We were lucky to have decent weather meaning we could make the most of the beautiful extensive garden with a decked area that has the sun until sunset. Lovely to sit listening to the birds and watching the steam train chuff by from time to time. The shed has some very comfortable reclining chairs which we struggled to turf our kids out from! There were some nice local walks thoughtfully placed in the blue visitor folder and well worth checking out. It's about 25-30 min steady walk to nearby Elberry Cove and Broadsands beach - both connected by the SW coastal path. The local shop and butcher were very friendly and highly recommended although I cannot say the same for the local pub, The Manor Inn. Decent enough food and drink but not the friendliest of staff. To be fair they appeared short-staffed upon our visit and so were a little flustered, but we noticed they served the locals first at the bar and kept unfamiliar faces waiting quite a while. We would certainly return to Pear Tree Cottage and recommend it to future guests who desire good value and comfort for the money in a beautiful part of the world.

  • Pear tree is a great location to explore the Dartmoor area. We stayed here with our family of four. There are some nice walks which you can start directly from the house. All information can be found in the guestbook. We liked the agatha Christy house in greenway. Dartmouth is a nice village to pay a visit with the small ferry from Kingswear.

  • Lovely well cared for cottage with everything you need for a toddler and lots of games for children. The garden is well looked after with lovely flowers, blackberry bush, pear tree and wild strawberries! The cottage is close to lots of beaches and only 15mins drive from Torquay.

    Louise2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pear Tree Cottage was the perfect cottage for ourselves and our two small children. There were lots of toys and games, the house was comfortable and well-equipped and the garden was good for running around. The village is near a wonderful beach and there are lots of good day trips within a short drive. We had such a good few days and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others, especially those with kids.

  • Comfortable, well equipped, family house with plenty of room and a lovely garden. Great location in the village. Village pub and shop close by and a short walk to the steam train line into Kingswear and Dartmouth. Hosts provided us with good information about the house and the local area. Easy to find and easy parking.

  • The cottage was as described and suited us perfectly for a long weekend to celebrate the wedding of our nephew at Stoke Gabriel Church.

    Michael2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a truly beautiful spot to come and enjoy some peaceful time with the wonderful nature at Stoke Gabriel we would come again!

    melissa2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Good, accurate introductory information. Everything as decribed. Guessed correctly that there would be no provisions other than salt and pepper, from the absence of any data on that point. Kitchen and scullery were well appointed. Decor was high order. Despite simple instructions we were unable to get TV reception other than Sky News, without sound. Slightly surprised there was no wifi, but that too was implicit in the description, if we had thought about it.

If it is a relaxing holiday you are looking for, an action packed break with the children or lazing around on the beach, then Driftwood is the perfect destination for you.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Driftwood, Lisa was very helpful and on hand if we needed anything. I would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful part of Devon.

    Georgina 2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great at Lisa's place. It was very clean, quiet and had a fantastic view overlooking the bay. There is a pub 5 minutes down the road which was very convenient, plus there was lots to do which was really close by. Lisa was very good with communication and we had no trouble when we arrived.

    Sam2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Just lovely. Very compact, clean and restful. can't wait to go back!

    Sam2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The chalet is in an ideal location with an amazing tranquil view over the river. We were able to walk to all the places we wanted to visit during our short stay.

    RUTH2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Driftwood is beautiful. The location is great - situated within walking distance of the River Dart and the ferry to Dittisham, and walking distance to the village and more importantly, the village pub. Further up the road you can access the coast and also buses that run along the English Riviera. We took our dogs. There is a really handy dog walk on site and lots of lovely off lead walking off site. The chalet is really well equipped - Lisa has thought of everything. It was perfect for a peaceful weekend away.

    Julie2017-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We came to this lovely chalet with two dogs looking for a quiet getaway for a few days and we were absolutely delighted with Lisa's place. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided, including complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and a kitchen was well stocked so that we were able to cook our own meals very easily. We went during the off season and found the chalet to be very well heated, which we were very grateful for! The holiday park itself also has a small garden at the very bottom specifically for dogs to play around in, which was very convenient. The chalet is in a great location with some amazing views over the River Dart and is the perfect starting point for walks over to Greenway, where some utterly astonishing views are to be had. I would also highly recommend taking the ferry to Dittisham for a walk around the picturesque village and a drink in the two local pubs. All in all, I would highly recommend Lisa's place to stay and we very much look forward to returning.

Bang in the heart of The Dart Valley with the best of scenery, beaches, medieval towns, historic interest and sublime food and wine, this cottage offers a peaceful location with quick access to Dartmouth, Totnes, Torquay, Brixham and Dartmoor.
Dating from the 16th Century, Barnacle Cottage offers visitors a real taste of traditional Devon living with full modern amenities. Awarded 4 **** by Visit England's Quality in Tourism in May 2015. There are two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs and the spacious ground floor is open plan with dining, living and kitchen area (with dishwasher). Sitting on the edge of a coastal village it is surrounded by peaceful beauty, and is perfectly placed to explore all the best of South Devon, There is off road parking beside the cottage and whilst enjoying the beautiful peaceful grounds, bordered by woodland, it is impossible not to convene with nature and the birds in the early morning sunrise! Not another house as far as the eye can see! However, don't panic, there is WIFI, plasma screen TV, iPod dock and mobile signals to keep you grounded in this century! The master bedroom has a super comfy king size bed and TV while the smaller bedroom has a high quality single bed with another stored underneath that pulls out to the same height. The bathroom has a bath with an electric shower overhead, although there is height restriction due to sloping eave. The village of Galmpton, a mile from the Blue Flag Broadsands beach, centres around the River Dart Marina, a friendly pub/restaurant, a general store and butcher shop, sourced from the local area. Supermarkets are a short drive as are many other shopping and browsing opportunities, including the fishing port of Brixham (about 3 miles), the famously quirky town of Totnes (6 miles) with fabulous eateries, tea shops and interesting and independent shops and markets. Dartmouth (via car ferry) is the beacon of the area with it's naval history and award winning seafood restaurants and markets. The famous Agatha Christie Greenway House and Gardens lies within 2 miles of the cottage and is one of the National Trust's most popular sites. The scenery there on the banks of the River Dart is truly spiritual and inspired many of her mysteries. Speaking of spiritual, you can spend a day at The Sharpham Vineyard and taste their own wine and cheese in a magical spot, overlooking the ever present River Dart. And while we are it let's not forget Dartmoor for stunning scenery. All these as well as boat trips, walking and exploring the many coastal paths are just some of the popular activities in this area of outstanding natural beauty that is South Devon. So I ask you? Is one week really enough...? You will find me right next door in the attached cottage armed with a promise not to bother you, but a bigger promise to be here to welcome you, help settle you in and assist in any way I can to make your stay here memorable. Down to business: The rates for the cottage are very seasonal and often vary by the week so it has been quite a challenge to key in a daily rate. To get a day rate I have simply divided the weekly rate by 7. However, when you wish to stay less than 7 nights, the rate will be slightly higher than the day rate multiplied by your number of nights to incorporate the upfront costs which remain the same whether it is for 3 or 7 nights. So please be aware if you are wishing to book a short break that I will need to quote for that separately. During the high season, June - September, short breaks only available depending on availability on a last minute basis.
The village of Galmpton is pretty and friendly as well as functional. It centres around the Marina at The Galmpton Creek, The Manor Inn pub/restaurant, The General Shop and Post Office and excellent butcher. The daily acitvities die down from 6 pm and then it is quiet and peaceful.
  • The cottage is a very nice, quiet, little place and Phyllis was on hand whenever we needed. All clean, warm, well equipped and well located for all of Torbay. Definitely recommend.

  • We stayed in Phyllis' adorable little cottage for a week in April. Despite the biting cold and rain we had a lovely time. The cottage is full of charm and in beautiful surroundings. The garden out the back is beautiful and brilliant to hang out in when the weather is good. Inside the cottage is really cosy and warm and equipped with everything you might need and more. The beds are super comfy and ideal for lengthy lie-ins. Phyllis is a very good and accommodating host. Quick and clear communication and very helpful with any requests we had. There was also a lot of really useful info about activities, both for sunny and rainy days. All in all a very nice stay was had by all.

  • We spent a week at the cottage. The roads are very narrow for us "Americans" we found out that you can get a 5 day Jubilee pass that covers the steam train, boats and ferry's around Dartmouth. This was a great way to see the area and the train is about a 15 min walk away.

I felt so comfortable in the house it was like being in a home away from home. Phyllis is the perfect host...even greeting us with Devonshire Tea....everything was perfection!!

A luxurious ultra-modern B&B overlooking the River Dart and the village of Stoke Gabriel, built in 2010, is one of very few B&Bs rated 5* Gold Award by the English Tourist Board and offers a warm and cosy welcome to all visiting stunning South Devon. Prices quoted do not include breakfast. The award-winning breakfast option may be requested on arrival and will be charged extra at £10 per person per breakfast. Guests have use of the Guest Lounge (see photos) and House Outdoor Patio
  • Most welcoming hosts. We had such a pleasant stay and didn't want to come home... We were upgraded to a balcony suite as this wasn't being used at that time. This really is a spectacular place to stay with stunning views of the village and the river dart. The photos for this b&b don't do it justice! I would highly recommend booking a room with a balcony. Didn't make us feel uncomfortable at all being in their home like a lot of b&bs out there. Breakfast was unreal. Every choice you can imagine. (Better than hotel standard if I'm honest). Everything from eggs benedict to fresh fruit. Dave and Helen are lovely people and helped us with directions and places to visit. Already recommended this place and look forward to staying here again in the near future. P.s : don't bother cleaning your car though if you plan to drive around and explore as there is many country lanes!!

    Lauren2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! This MUST be the best B&B in the world!! Certainly the best we have stayed in by miles! It is a new property, tastefully decorated with beautiful oak fixtures and furniture everywhere. The bed was heavenly comfortable and our bedroom just sheer luxury. There is a huge guest lounge with big-screen TV with the full package, games and even a piano for guests to play. Also a guest conservatory and a huge outside patio with table, chairs, settees coffee table, swing seat and parasol. The view from the B&B are just stunning. It is elevated with plenty of parking and looks over the village and the River Dart with a backdrop of rolling Devon lush scenery. We went kayaking on the river from the village quay-five minutes walk away – where there is also a restaurant with outside tables by the river bank. There are two other places to eat in the village, one an olde-worlde superb pub – the other a fine dining restaurant. We went on to Dartmoor, on to the beach, walking on the coastal path and visited Agatha Christie’s house in the next village. We can’t wait to come back here. Ayda & Sam

  • A little tricky to find (it’s tucked away next to the old Baptist church), and for foodies not much in the village but Margaret’s place is cosy, clean with a lovely bed. Margaret is a great, caring and accommodating host who also puts on a fabulous full breakfast of local ingredients served on vintage Denby crockery!

    Dave2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Nook is perfectly named: A charming bungalow, tucked away in the corner of a courtyard, with it's own terraced garden. Very handy for Paignton zoo! The room is very comfortable if perhaps a little small, and Margaret was a welcoming and attentive host. The continental breakfast with home made jams was delicious.

  • Staying with Margaret is a lovely experience. She is kind, intelligent and willing to give you a wonderful time. I felt as though I was in the company of one of my best friends. The accomodations are clean and ever so comfortable, the conversations informative and fun. Margaret treated me to a visit to Colton Fishacre and to the Mill Pool. The breakfast was perfect! Modern, chic self contained annexe with patio seating and beautiful gardens. In pretty village tucked amidst the rolling hills of Devon and close to the river. We are surrounded by footpaths and cycle routes. Only 5 miles to the nearest beach. Betwixt Dartmouth and Totnes. Dartmouth is by the sea and a popular sailing harbour; Totnes is a friendly market town, renowned for its alternative ways and cultural diversity. Accepting and embracing of people from all backgrounds.
It's self contained and very private. All clean and good quality. Very airy and bright. Patio doors lead out on to your private patio with table and chairs. This is a sunny spot in the morning for breakfast. Later in the day there is the top lawn with bench where you are welcome to sit and enjoy the view and afternoon and evening sun. The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly.
The neighbourhood is very friendly, with a great pub 5 minutes drive away. We have village events during the summer. There is a beautiful river walk on the door step and many other footpaths. It is tucked away quietly and is very beautiful. Wildlife is profuse. True, relaxed Devon hospitality awaits you.

  • A wifi outage on our last morning was tricky but not the hosts fault. No was the fact that the neighbour opposite was noisily working in his workshop constantly which meant it wasn't as peaceful as it could have been. Otherwise great.

  • Well equipped, decorated and clean, this ground floor flat annex consists of double bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and dining room/lounge. Good driving instructions. Sarah (your host) is lovely and welcoming. Local pub/restaurant has just closed which is a shame as it's a one mile walk now or a drive to the closest watering hole. This place was great for a two day stop over. Make sure you bring a PC with HDMI if you want any Televisual entertainment during your stay (there is a stock of DVD's and a player). Nice and relaxing stay. Wally Robinson stayed here Septemb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
