Guests have access to the entire apartment and hiking/snow shoeing 100 acres of lovely VT private trails and meadows. I allow guests to be extremely independent, but I am a phone call or a text away for addressing any issue or question that may arise. The barn is located on a gravel road with neighbors that are not close. No one will see you enjoying a lovely meal on the picnic table or cocktails around the fire pit. A leisurely mile walk to the gorgeous Buttermilk Falls makes this location a summer gem! Car is the way to go here in VT! If you are looking for a larger rental for your group, check out our sister property Good Commons. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2094210?guests=16&s=Os6n2fDx At Good Commons, we also host yoga retreats with some of the top instructors on the east coast. Look us up for a visit in any capacity!
Buttermilk Falls right around the corner, go back to Buttermilk Falls road and take a right. The first sign for the forest is the lowest fall. Once you climb down to the lowest fall there, you will see a trail up to the 2nd fall. If you go to the end of the road where the abandoned bridge is, you will see the entrance to the top fall, the third fall, down on your right. --Okemo Mountain Resort is one mile away to the Jackson Gore side and 2 Mike's to the base lodge with outdoor year round recreation including skiing and riding, The Adventure Zone, zip lining, mountain biking and disk golf. Enjoy the FREE Friday night concerts in the warm months! To get to Jackson Gore, go to Buttermilk Falls road and take a left. Drive to Route 103 and take a left and an immediate right onto Mountain Road and another immediate right into the entrance. --Boy Scout Camp at Echo Lake. Go north on Route 100 and turn right at the Echo Lake Inn. Drive about 1 mile and take a left onto Scout Camp Road. The entrance is about a half mile down the road on your left for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and peddle boats. $4 admission fee. --There is a great hike up the back of Okemo to the fire tower. It is a good distance so allow a couple hours for this. Take Route 103 towards Rutland and take a left at Wright Construction. Just past the railroad tracks turn left and you will drive into a parking lot for the trail head. It goes all the way up and down, only one path. At the top is the fire tower. If you climb up the tower, you will see a 360 view of the area. Really great! --White Rocks National Forest--take Route 103 for about 6/7 miles to Route 140 and take a left. Drive 4/5 miles on Route 140 you will see signs on your left for White Rocks National Forest. Turn left at the White Rocks sign and drive about one mile up to a parking area.....road is tight if you meet an oncoming car. As you are driving into the parking area, I recommend the trailhead to your right to the ice beds. The temperature drops so much when you get to them it is kind of a neat thing in nature. There are two great vistas along the way--one right at the top of the switchbacks slightly in front of you to your left. Then as you walk along the ridge line, look for the second one on your left as well. This is a tricky hike. You really have to follow the blue dots on the trees, because the trail is not always easy to see. --If you are looking for local groceries, visit W.A.A.W.W.E--We Are All What We Eat located a the corner of Route 103 and Route 10. It is not cheap but they have pasteurized but not homogenized milk, local eggs, meat, and tons of other local goodies. Her dairy farm is not too much further along Route 103 towards Chester on your right and there is a little spot there to buy completely raw milk if you choose and take a quick gander at the cows. --Deer Leap Overlook—head towards Buttermilk Falls Road and take a left. Go to Route 103 and take a left and drive 15 miles till you dead end on Route 4. Take a left at Route 4 and drive about 8 miles. Just past the town of Killington, you will go up a very steep hill and at the top of the hill you will see the Inn at Long Trail on your right and a huge parking lot on your left. There are many trails (in and out) from the parking lot on your left. I recommend crossing the road back to the Inn side and going up the trail head at the far right corner of the parking lot as you are looking at the Inn to Deer Leap Overlook. It takes maybe 30/40 min to reach the summit, which is a wonderful view of Killington Mountain! --Oldest working cheese factory in the nation--Crowley Cheese. Go north on 103 towards Rutland about 2.5 miles and turn left onto Healdeville Road. Drive another 2/3 miles and you will see Crowley on your left. --2nd oldest cheese factory in the nation is Plymouth Artisan Cheese at the Calvin Coolidge Estate. It is great to walk through the main building hosting the museum and all the out buildings. Go in the morning to try to catch cheese making. There is a great interactive part of the museum that was designed by my friend Paul. You can ask Coolidge questions and he answers them:) --Green Mountain Sugar House--go North on Route 100 about 2 miles from Route 103 and you will see this on your right. They have great maple creme's....maple soft serve ice cream and lots of VT style gifts and maple candies made on site. --Weston Playhouse--check out their season. They may have something appropriate for kids on their main stage or second stage space. The talent comes up from NYC to enjoy a portion of the summer in gorgeous VT. The is also the home of the original Vermont Country Store, which is kid heaven with penny candy and old toys that we had growing up. They also sell sparklers:) --Long Trail Brewery—Closest brewery to the farm. Go to Buttermilk Falls road and take a left. Drive one mile to route 103 and take a left. Drive ½ mile and take a left onto Route 100 North. Drive about 9 miles till you come to the town of Plymouth and turn right on Route 100A. Drive another 6 miles till the road T’s at Route 4. Take a left onto Route 4 and Long Trail is the first parking lot on your left. They have a nice pub menu and very good brew. The beer sampler holds two pints of beer:) --Stores in Bridgewater—there is a fun junk/antique shop in an old gas station on your left. On your right will be the Mill. Miranda Thomas Pottery and Thomas Shackleton Furniture are there, both extremely well known and expensive. On the second floor is a cute rug shop. They make some of their rugs from t-shirts from the thrift shop on the third floor. All rugs are made in house. There are some nice jewelry stores in here as well as Ramunto's pizza with many brews on tap. -- Woodstock-- Billings Farm is fantastic for kids. The entrance to Mt. Tom is just off the green straight through the covered bridge. Very cute shops in this town. A good place for dinner, local brew, mead, cider and wine is the Worthy (URL HIDDEN) along Route 4 just as you are headed to Quechee on your right about a 1/2 mile ish past the 90 degree corner where the gas stations are located. --Quechee is a little bit further down the road and is worth the drive to Simon Pearce to see the glass blowing which is in the bottom of the store. I could watch it for hours. Cute wine bar open all day plus the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Across from it is the Parker House. Nice outdoor seating for dinner and eclectic decor. Just down the road further along Route 4 is the Quechee Gorge Village where they have great ice cream, a diner, a train museum, a train for the kids to ride, wine tastings, cheese tastings (Cabot), antique museum, random fun shops and a distillery with tastings. --Check out Harpoon Brewery as well with the Path of Life Garden which is gorgeous and fun for kids. They also have Farmstead Cheese Store there, a friend of mine is a cheese maker for them. They make a sort of brie style cheese called Lille that is crazy amazing. They have a distillery there as well called Silo. Harpoon gives tours for $5. Worth it, it is really great to see how it all works, I think even for kids if they are old enough. They serve lunch/dinner there as well. --If you take a day trip up north, then I certainly recommend Ben and Jerry's and the Teddy Bear Factory. Along Route 4 is Lincoln Peak Vineyard, Charlotte Vineyard and a winery/brewery in Brandon as well as Otter Creek and other breweries in the Burlington area--Magic Hat and beyond!
  • Tesha was extremely friendly and welcoming. Her barn apartment had a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The location is perfect for skiing at nearby Okemo, and there are many wonderful restaurantes in the area. Overall, we couldn't have had a more perfect experience. We would highly recommend staying here.

    Ian2013-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was a retreat in the quiet countryside, a beautiful little spot to rest and rejuvenate. We loved the spaciousness, the colorful decor, and the comfort of it all. Would highly recommend it to anyone needing a break from the world. Note - there isn't a fireplace, so plan to make your fires outdoors! Some of the best s'more were created l... Thanks Tesha

    Willow2014-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Tesha's place was perfect! It was well-located to the mountain, and beautiful inside. The outside was a bit hard to identify, but fortunately the neighbors were helpful in pointing us in the right direction.

    Marcus2014-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I wish we could have stayed longer! We decided to take a last minute trip up to Vermont for a couple days and Tesha was wonderful! Friendly and prompt with all the correspondence. It was such a breeze to book and turned out to be a true gem. I absolutely feel in love with this beautiful barn. It was just as pictured, warm and inviting. A perfect place to unplug. A little bonus... If you're looking to explore a bit there is a really pretty waterfall just up the road (at the end of Buttermilk Falls). You won't regret it

    Dulita2016-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place was quite and secluded while being close to city amenities. Enjoyed the long walks in the woods behind the barn. Will definitely rent again here.

    Vicky2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tesha's place was awesome. Right next to a trail and in a nice quiet location. Tesha was helpful and made both check-in and check-out very easy.

    Matthew2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures honestly do not do this place justice. You walk in and It feels like you stepped into another world. It truly is an amazing place and the price fits. The wood work inside is amazing and this barn offers you anything you need. I had never been to Vermont and since staying here, I want to go back already. It's so quiet and relaxing.

    Sara2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tesha was a fantastic host. She was very responsive to questions before and during the trip. We had one very minor issue during our stay, and Tesha went out of her way to resolve it quickly so it didn't impact our stay one bit. The barn was exactly what we were looking for as a relaxing weekend getaway and fit our group of 5 with plenty of room to spare. It is the perfect place for those who want a quiet, unique stay in the country with great proximity to Okemo and Killington. This was key as half of our group was able to spend a day snowboarding at each, while the rest of us explored some of the 100 acres of the property. I would 100% recommend this location for those visiting Ludlow and will definitely be keeping this place in mind next time we are in the area.

This is a cozy home with an open wood fire place near several ski mountains, Okemo shuttle bus right outside door. Also near lakes, hiking and only 5 min walk to Singletons General store. Home away from home!
This house can be used for both winter and summer vacations. It is conveniently located next to Singletons General Store. During winter, it is central to a multitude of ski resorts with the Okemo shuttle bus passing outside the front door. You can snow mobile locally in Proctorsville and ice skating is also available in Jackson Gore. Cross country skiing is also available. The Pointe at The Castle Hill Resort is an Aveda facility where you can take advantage of the spa facilities, heated outdoor pool and exercise rooms as well. Even though this area is famous for its winters vacations, the area is awash with summer activities for young and old. These include hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking, golf and cycling.
    Snow mobile available locally.
  • A great home to stay at for the weekend during a ski trip with family and/or friends!

  • Great Location and very comfortable.

    Willy2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Burke's was an excellent place to stay! There were seven of us- three couples and a single. One couple slept on the sleeper sofa in the living room by the fireplace. It was super comfortable and cozy! I loved it. Then upstairs there are three rooms, with two rooms sharing a bathroom. Those were the rooms with queen sized beds and comfortable amenities, including extra blankets and sheets, and a chest of drawers in each room. The third room would be great for kids, with two twin beds and a double bunk bed. Our single friend slept on one of the twin beds, and we tucked her in with stuffed animals to keep her company (haha.) On the other side of the staircase is a big dining room with all the dishware for a nice family dinner. We cooked pasta and made salads and had a great time connecting by the fireplace afterwards. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary tools including salad bowls, cutting boards, knives, pots and pans, tea kettle, coffee machine, etc. The decor and extra odds and ends made it feel really cozy but not cluttered. The fireplace was amazing. It got nice and toasty in there. The house has a laundry room with a working washer dryer, plus some extra ski accessory gear and even some sombreros which delighted everyone! The showers were great. The bathroom downstairs is big and comfortable to use. The cavendish area is residential and quiet, but very close to a very unique general store with great meat, cheese, groceries, local goodies, even clothes and hunting gear. It's quite an experience and really convenient to the house. Okemo is a short drive also. We took our cars but apparently there is a shuttle option as well. We loved our weekend getaway and after a long day on the slopes, Burke's cabin was the perfect place to cozy up and recover. Highly highly recommend!!!

    Monica2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great. Very comfortable and not far from Okemo mountain to ski. We had a lot of fun.

    Hilaire2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is nice, very large space for parking, lots of good restaurant nearby, James is nice guy and answered our questions in time. Great Ski house.

    zitai2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a getaway. Nice location. Host was great. Very easy to communicate too. Highly recommend to everyone.

    S2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Jame's home. It is warm, both literally and in its comfortable feel. The fireplace and ample wood supply helped our family of adults find ourselves chatting and playing board games together; just enjoying each other's company. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfy and the "bunk room" of 4 single beds allowed for folks to stretch out in their own space instead of doubling up.... our rule is "the more separate beds the better" and this house more than meets that requirement! James was very responsive to any questions, etc. He checked in to be sure we were all set after we arrived and responded to texts, promptly. The shuttle to the mountain kept us from dealing with the traffic and parking on the mountain... an awesome perk! All in all, this is a great airbnb in an excellent location with a terrific host!!

    Nancy2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Burke's Ski house. Our family of five went with another family of five for three days of skiiing at Okemo. The layout was perfect - two nearly identical master bedrooms for the adults and a kids room with bunk beds and single beds. The space is larger than the pictures made us think. We were able to all sit at the dining room table for dinner, and the living room was great for games. The house also has a fabulous mudroom to dump all our gear (which is inside and totally heated so it could dry out). The location was great as well. We had a super tasty breakfast a three minute walk away. And when we left (in the middle of a snowstorm) the neighbor helped shovel us out. The only problem was the lack of snow for skiing - at least until we drove out - but hard to blame the host for that. Thanks!

Time for recess! Our totally renovated and expanded schoolhouse is a perfect retreat with all the comforts of home. It has high ceilings, lots of natural light, and plenty of spaces to gather or have some quiet time. Fully stocked kitchen w/DW. 3 bdrms, 2.5 baths. W/D. Close to Ludlow, Okemo/Jackson Gore, Stratton, Killington and Castle Hill Spa.
The schoolhouse sits at the edge of a field and has a lovely view. It's close to everything, but away from it all. The house was totally renovated and expanded far beyond the original structure. It has high ceilings, lots of natural light, and plenty of spaces to gather or have some quiet time. There's also Wifi, if you need to do a little work. The kitchen is a perfect place to cook and gather. It has an island with stools and a large table with six chairs. It's fully stocked with everything you need to create and serve a wonderful meal. The kitchen also has a custom mural of a schoolhouse by Vermont artist Kimberly Ray. (If you look around, you'll see many of my paintings on the walls, too.) The living room has a large TV with cable and DVD player, a comfortable seating area and a pellet stove. The stove provides the flame and toasty heat of a fireplace without all the work. There are two en suite bedrooms with televisions. The loft in the addition is a spacious and cozy retreat, decorated with a lodge theme. It shares a bath. We're on the corner of a main road and a country dirt road, which is great for walks or runs. Winter: Okemo and Jackson Gore are 5-7 miles from the house. Stratton, Bromley, Killington and Magic are also close by. We have ski racks to store your skis and a boot heater to warm up or dry out your boots. The driveway is flat and plowed right up to the garage door. The field behind the house is perfect for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. There's also a great sledding hill. We have a set of snow shoes and saucers for you to borrow. Summer: The front porch has two rocking chairs. It's the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon glass of wine in the warmer months. The back deck has a grill, table/chairs for four and a chaise lounge. Sit there a while and you'll see Bluebirds, Hummingbirds and Baltimore Orioles. There's also a chiminea for those cool summer nights. Down the hill you'll find Proctorsville. A small village that has summer concerts on the green, a bakery for morning coffee or lunch, a restaurant called Murdoch's for dinner and Singleton's General Store. Singleton's is a great place to pick up something to throw on the grill or sandwiches. Coming soon: Outer Limits Brewing We're close to the quintessential town of Weston, home of the Weston Playhouse and The Vermont Country Store. There are also a few restaurants for lunch or dinner before the show. The schoolhouse is a special and comfortable year round retreat. We love it and we think you will, too. HISTORY The school was one of twelve schoolhouses in Cavendish/Proctorsville. The schoolhouses were built to ensure that no child would have to walk longer than one mile. The original school was our kitchen and the smaller bedroom. The school closed in 1947, but the structure was preserved and lives on.
We are 1.5 miles from the town of Proctorsville. There you'll find Singleton's General Store. You'll enjoy their wide variety of food and merchandise. They're know for their smokehouse and meat department, but you can pick up everything you need to make a memorable meal or sandwiches for the road. (You can also pick up hunting and fishing gear.) You'll also find The Opera House Bakery and The Vermont Pie Company, which are great places to grab coffee, breakfast or lunch. There's also Murdoch's Restaurant for dinner. Coming soon: Outer Limits Brewery Winter/Spring: We are 10 minutes to Okemo and 30-40 minutes to Killington and Stratton. There is a large field behind the house that is perfect for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and it has a great sledding hill. After an active day, make an appointment for a treatment at the Spa at Castle Hill and you enjoy all the amenities for the day. They have a year round outdoor heated pool/hot tub, an exercise room, sauna and yoga classes. Summer/Fall: If you're looking for water, Lake Rescue and Echo Lake are a short drive away. Buttermilk Falls is a great place to go dip your feet and take a swim as well. For entertainment, enjoy Friday night concerts at Jackson Gore or a play at The Weston Playhouse. If you're creative, take a class at the nearby Fletcher Farm School of Arts and Crafts. Like to bike? There is a rental shop in Ludlow, and Okemo opened the Evolution Bike Center this summer. They will have mountain bike rentals, lift service and trails. There's plenty of hiking as well. You can hike the front side of Okemo by taking the access road to Mountain Road. You can drive most of the way up, making it a manageable hike to the summit. If you want a longer, more challenging hike, you can access the trail up the back side on Healdsville Road in Mount Holly. We're close enough to everything for convenience, yet far enough away for tranquility. As one guest said, "It was in the Goldilocks zone for attractions (not too close and not too far; just right)".
  • This house is definitely beautiful! Marianne was a great host and even left a card and treat in the fridge. The lush grass yard in the back was a great place to hang out, grill and enjoy the lush scenery. Inside, the three bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The house is located a short drive to the Healdsville trail head and Okemo mountain so we were never without activities. All around it was a great place to stay.

    Greg2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect get away! Marianne was easy to get in touch with and the home was just perfect and I'd recommend it to everyone. The pictures didn't do it justice. Very spacious and cozy.

  • Great experience front to back. Super clear and easy getting into the (beautiful) house & settled. Responded to questions quickly and delivered everything as described in online profile

    Allison2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect vacation get-away! It's a beautiful home on a beautiful plot. Easy to get to and close to town. Front and back porches are perfect for coffee in the mornings or wine in the evenings. Lots of space for friends and family members. Nice flat yard for the kids to run around. The host was very helpful and always easy to communicate with.

    Suzy2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit, and we were as happy this time as we were the last time!! Marianne is a wonderful host.

    Allie2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne was great! She was very communicative with us, and gave us all the information we needed. She even left a few beers in the fridge for us when she found out that we are beer geeks! We had a great time at the Schoolhouse. It is an extremely comfortable home with plenty of bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and a huge backyard. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks!

    Matthew2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the red school house. Plenty of room for us, 2 adults, 2 kids, ten & eight years of age. Kids loved the cupula bedroom, their den as they called it. It was fun staying in a restored school house. The house is very well equipped, kitchen had all of the additional fixings you don't want to have to pack and the local Singletons store had everything we needed. Convenient to Okemo, we thankfully had snow & good conditions. House very cosy, pellet stove was perfect to relax in front of after a day on the slopes. House gets a big thumbs up from all of us. Host very responsive & helpful.

    Damien2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about Marianne's house was incredible! The schoolhouse itself was beautiful and comfortably; we instantly felt at home. The surrounding area was equal in beauty, in particular the natural attractions that Marianne made sure to tell us about (Okemo Mountain and Buttermilk Falls, to name a few). The entire experience was so great that, when it came time to check out, none of us wanted to leave! Would certainly stay here again and intend to do so!

  • Such a beautiful house and landscape. There were even fresh baked cookies on the counter when we arrived. We all had a great time!!

  • Ellen is super helpful and patient with all of our questions. The house is absolutely beautiful and perfect for 6 people. Very clean and comfortable. It's about 20min to okemo. We had a very nice weekend, definitely recommend!

    Cheryl2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great house and hosts. Super close to Okemo and a short drive to Killington. Very comfortable!

    Ramon2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We could not possibly give a higher recommendation for this home, it's location, or it's host. Just wonderful.

    Trudy2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen's place is incredible. It's spacious, cozy, clean, well finished and considerately well-equipped with amply supplies. We can feel the thoughtfulness in all kinds of little details: a jar of Vermont maple syrup, brand new shampoo. Ellen was very easy to communicate to; she gave clear directions, and sent out timely notification that the house is ready and open for us. The four of us (we are two couples having a New Year skiing trip in Vermont) had a blast and saw the lovely first sunrise of 2017 from the windows of the house. I highly recommend Ellen's beautiful place to any one.

  • We loved this house and the area. Easy drive to skiing and to Woodstock area. There was more than enough space for our family of 5 to spread out. Great view and amazing sunrises. Host took care of everything that we needed and was incredibly timely in responses. After 8-10in of snow the driveway was cleared quickly and the road was cleared regularly. Would definitely stay there again.

    Eric2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Convenient to Ascutney. Very clean and comfortable. Views are incredible.

    JILL2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Ellen's house. The space was perfect for three couples, and the setting was incredible. We were very pleased with the house upon our arrival late Friday night but were absolutely stunned when we awoke to freshly fallen snow the next morning. The views from the front porch are truly breathtaking. From there, it was a lovely country drive to Killington, where we skied both Saturday and Sunday. Ellen was a great host - very responsive and thoughtful (there were fresh baked cookies waiting for us when we arrived!). We had an amazing weekend, and I would highly recommend this listing.

The house is located on a gravel road with little traffic. It's only about 10-15 minutes from Ludlow/Okemo and 20-25 minutes to GMHA. There are great restaurants and plenty of things to do nearby but it's a quiet and serene location away from the hustle and bustle of town.
  • The room is beautiful and clean, and very comfortable. Carole is very pleasant and responsive. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Great place to stay. Quiet, clean and country!

    Tod2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Carole was a great host. She listed all directions for upkeep quite thoroughly, and the accommodations were great. A nice plus, the neighbors! We ran into a spot of trouble with our vehicle and the neighbor across the street took us to a mechanic (Ken's Auto Repair) two miles down the road. A truly wonderful landscape with generous people. The house overlooks a beautiful backyard on hilly dirt roads. If you're a runner, hiker, active walker, or nature-appreciator, definitely stay at Carole's!

    CT2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Carole was really nice. She has a very sweet dog - Pip! She kindly let us in her home and use her grill. A ver kind person.

    Ignacio2014-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Carole is a wonderful host! I loved staying at her place. She is warm, kind, and funny. And she made me feel like I was right at home. Carole invited me to dinner one evening with her & a few of her friends. We have a great time & she is an amazing cook too. Thank you. Carole's two little dogs Fidget and Pip are so cute. They were so excited to see me very time I pulled in after a long day. They would run up to me and play. I called them my "Welcoming Committee" They always made me smile. The apartment is huge! I has two big bedrooms, a large living room & bathroom. It's very clean and comfortable. I travel a lot for my business. I felt safe and at home. I can't wait to stay here again!

    Pamela2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Carole was a very friendly, helpful and accommodating host, but the AirBnB itself was not exactly what we expected. It was very isolated, which can be wonderful for folks getting away for a weekend, but the thin wall/door between the apartment and our host eliminated the sense of privacy that we were hoping. It is an excellent place for a group of up to four on a budget that need little more than a home base and a place to sleep.

    Gideon2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Carole's home is the best deal in town! Vey clean, use of laundry facilities, beautiful scenery. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a reasonably priced place to stay.

    Sarah2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • I was unable to meet Carole, but the house was clean, and everything was as advertised. The day before we went up she sent me a very detailed description of what to do when I arrived. Unfortunately, as a lifelong city boy whose lived in apartments his entire life, it took me a while to figure out how to start up everything (water pumps, heater, etc.). Once everything was set to go, it felt like the second homes I've heard people talk about. Once the sun came up the next day, we saw the beautiful landscape and drove into town for breakfast. We had attended a wedding that day, and came back for another night, but left early the next morning. I do wish we had more time to spend in the area, the town and surrounding areas were beautiful.

  • Norman, Jill, and their pup are wonderful hosts. The guesthouse is cozy, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The lovely farm is both secluded enough for a quiet retreat, yet close enough to all amenities and towns to visit.

    Bryan2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time here. The guest house is so welcoming and all the little details are so carefully looked after. We already look forward to the next time we can sneak away to this perfect Vermont getaway.

    Mandi2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Norman and Jill were excellent hosts. The place is clean and has alot of personal anemities(wood burning stove, Mason jar fixtures, plenty of towels, Vermont cheese, cider, maple syrup). The vibe to the place is rustic Vermont. The property contains excellent trails to walk your dog and the place is like a playground for dogs. The location is 15 minute ride to okemo and 15 minutes to harpoon brewery. Norman and Jill go out of their way to provide you with plenty of materials and information to ensure you find the right places to eat and activities for the day. The place feels like home away from home. We look forward to spending seasons to come at this magnificent location.

    Dennis2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Norman and Jill's farm is indeed the perfect "cabin in the snow " retreat . It's super charming , cozy , and warm . It's on a dead end road on a large and lovely property with fields, trees and a creek so , even though all the stores in Springfield are less than 10 m away , u feel very far from the world . Vermont is gorgeous but we had trouble leaving the cabin as we felt so good there . Norman and Jill were so helpful , kind and generous, but also totally respectful of our privacy. Norman even refilled our fire wood for us and helped us start our first couple fires! They are really lovely people. They were very nice to our dogs. They invited us twice for drinks and it felt like being " en famille " We will definitely stay here again. It was just a perfect Xmas experience .

    Olivier2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Norman and Jill's was everything we could have imagined and more! The property was absolutely beautiful and the guest house was far more charming than the pictures can show. You really have to see for yourself! Perfect for a quiet getaway and/or ski trip, as it is only a 20 minute drive from the charming town of Ludlow and Okemo Mountain. We brought our pup with us which was also a major plus! He was able to run around in the big yard and play with the other two dogs there, and we were able to leave him in the warm guesthouse while we were out. Norman was very nice and offered all the help we could need. The fridge was also stocked with eggs, VT maple syrup, cider, and a huge wedge of delicious cheese, which was very comforting! I could go on and on about our lovely visit, and cannot complain about one part of our stay in the guesthouse. We certainly plan on returning. Thank you so much Norman and Jill!

    Erica2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Norman and Jill were amazing hosts! They were so kind to my dog Roxy. The yard and views were so relaxing. I loved all the wood and details in the house. Perfect place to stay!

  • Norman and Jill’s place is amazing. Very quiet and relaxing. Close to Okemo and Killington and right off 91. I highly recommend staying here whether its for a romantic get away, a ski trip, or simply staying inside by the fire. Two thumbs up!

  • This barnstyle guest house is beautiful. It's very rustic and well decorated. The night I got in, I heard a pack of coyotes and owls. It was nature's way of welcoming me to their home. I loved it. Norman and Jill were not around for the weekend, but they were so communicative and helpful. I will definitely stay here again! I give this place 5 out of 5. Nadeem

Just shy of 200 years old, this farmhouse has an abundance of charm and is the perfect place for all seasons. Near Okemo Mountain, hiking and snowmobiling; and for summer - a private beach on the Black River for fishing, swimming and lounging.
This is NOT a typical vacation rental. It is a four season second home, is unique, charming and needs to be treated with care and respect.

  • 2nd time at this house, first time in the summer... Amazing! The beach on the river and the barn were great.

  • Monica was great! She was very easy to communicate with and her place was exactly as described! It was the perfect weekend getaway!

    Kassy2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Monica's home is WONDERFUL. It's much larger than the photos let on and it's designed in circular fashion- two staircases on either end of the house that make walking around the property a delight (running into your friends 'round the corner)! The kitchen is very open right next to a sweet all-wooden dining room. We enjoyed coffee on a set of chairs outside the house by the river and pointed out icicle formations. Go! (Or don't go because then we'll take your spot! We'll be going again to see this place in summer.)

    Willa2016-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Monica's place. The 19th century house was beautiful, clean, spacious for seven guests, and convenient to Ludlow and several ski resorts. Monica was very friendly and communicative. Hope to visit again!

    Jerzy2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Monica's house was a total pastoral dream. Listening to the sound of the river gently flowing whilst sitting in an adirondack chair on the porch was all I could wish for my birthday. It was a fun and relaxing weekend of May, filled with lilac and apple tree blossoms. We had planned to explore the region a little but really, all we wanted in the end was to enjoy the house and its surroundings: the rocks and the beach by the river, the trails in the woods, and of course, the barn room ( I won't tell much cause it's nicer to discover it as a surprise). The house is even bigger than the impression we had from the photos, and it is very conveniently furnished. Monica was a thoughtful host, her indications and recommendations were extremely clear and helpful.

  • Great Stay!

    Tanya2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We chose the home to share with our young adult children close to ski areas. It's a very unique house in a great setting by a brook. It was very clean and comfortable . The house was well equipped , it had everything we needed for our stay. Monica was very responsive to all our communications. Wish we could have stayed longer! This house is a real charmer - classic Vermont.

    John2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming and magical home and setting! Monica is an excellent host, she was easy to contact and very responsive. The home is absolutely beautiful, full of special objects and interesting antiques. The Black River is adjacent to the home so you can take in fresh morning air while listening to the rushing water. Every view is exceptional!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Big Barn Farm. The downstairs unit was very clean and spacious and was more than enough space for the two of us and our pup. We didn't cook, but the kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated the washer/dryer for when our clothes got soaked in the rain. The hosts stayed on the premises and there were people staying in the upstairs unit yet we felt we had enough privacy. Trevor was super helpful upon check in and made himself available for any questions, but we were all set for the weekend. Extra bonus was having the winery within walking distance next door and open land for our dog to run around with their dog Lucy! Hope to be back again soon.

  • Sheryl did an exceptional job with the property and the overall experience. We were traveling during a time of heavy snowfall, and Sheryl allowed us to check in an hour early so we could get on the road earlier. We were greeted with treats inside the home and the heat at a great temperature. The home was very clean and spacious. Her and her family were so responsive the entire trip and we were able to spend a little time together! The home is in a perfect location, very close to Okemo which made for an easy trip for first tracks in the morning! Overall we were very pleased with the home and plan on returning! Thanks Sheryl!!

  • We enjoyed our stay very much! I can’t think of anything that could’ve been improved. Our dog had a blast and was equally joyed by the hospitality shown to him from the owner’s dog Lucy! I imagine we’ll be back!

  • This place was perfect for a weekend ski trip at okemo mountain- only a 10 minute or so drive to mountain. The place is just as shown in the pictures, but even more beautiful in person. All basic amenities were available and we were very comfortable. Fire pit was great as well. Would definitely recommend.

    Alex2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. We came for the weekend to ski in Okemo. The distance is short to the mountain (15 min drive), the house is comfortable, clean, and up to date. Our dog had the greatest time playing outside, and the property is beautiful. If you're looking to stay in a great place near Okemo for great value, this home is a great choice.

    Michal2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful old farmhouse with everything you need. Sheryl and family were very accommodating. The property is scenic, and just a short drive from several cute towns.

  • Great place to stay! We had a group of 8 and the house fit us perfectly (with extra bedrooms to spare). It was clean and cozy! We loved using the fireplace and the hot tub in particular. It was very close to Ludlow, where we found great places to eat. Also super close to okemo and other snow adventures. Thanks for the great weekend!

  • We had a great time at Mark and Laura's. It was very easy to get to Okemo and ski all day and nice to sit in the hot tub at night and relax.

    Patrick2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • House was fantastic, warm and spacious. Jacuzzi was awesome. Quick drive to Okemo although we went to Killington which was not far.

    Jason2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Laura's house in Vermont was lovely and very large. There were beds for thirteen, plus a futon and two sofas in the common spaces. Everything was clean and in working order. I would definitely stay there with a large group again! The only negative was the Okemo shuttle stop was down the road at Singleton's, not at the Fire station as mentioned in the post. I called the Okemo resort and the closest shuttle stop to the house is Singleton's, which it only a 2 minute drive from the house. So it all worked out well! I definitely recommend this house as a great ski trip accommodation.

  • Welcoming space! Close to town. Second time staying here and still wonderful

    Libby2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfect for large groups with plenty of clean beds and bathrooms. The hot tub was amazing after a long day of skiing. My friends and I were able to enjoy a fantastic New Years weekend away here. The house is in a great spot only 15 minutes from Okemo. The wifi wasn't very good and the house got pretty smokey when we tried to make a fire but other than that it was a perfect weekend in the mountains. Mark and Laura made check in and check out extremely easy! We definitely want to come back here for future ski trips.

  • The house was perfect for our trip! We were a group a friends looking for a relaxing weekend ski vacation. The house had everything we needed. We went to Okemo mountain, which is only 10 minutes away from the house. Mark and Laura were always quick to reply and very pleasant and easy to communicate with! We had a wonderful time.

  • The house fit our needs perfectly and was very clean. It had been below 0 for many days so when we arrived the water wasn't working because of a freeze up. We called Vince and he quickly had a Plumber come to the house and fix the issue. I was very happy that within about 45 minutes Vince had someone on-site. I was expecting a long wait for the problem to be resolved. The house was very close to Okemo and downtown Ludlow so we had many options to pass the time when we weren't on the slopes. We had a great time and the house was a great value. I would happily suggest this house to others.

    Douglas2015-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. Arriving to a bottle of wine and coffee, the place was clean and as described. Kitchen was filled with everything you could need and it was nice to have a living room to hang out in at night. The road was a bit busy and loud but after a long day on the slopes and the quick ride home, no one really minded. Vincent was readily available to answer any questions and checked in with us to make sure all was well. Great find!

    Jill2015-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived later in the evening and it was no problem! We were greeted with coffee and a bottle of wine. The house was perfect for our large group of 8. The location was great for skiing both at okemo(5 min) and killington(30-40 min). Vincent is an extremely responsive host and addressed any issues or concerns within the hour. I would recommend this house/host to anyone looking to ski in the area.

    Michael2015-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • the listing and the pictures were very accurate. a clean apartment and he offered us a bottle of wine and coffee! We had plenty of room for nine people and it was really nice that there were two (clean) bathrooms for all of us to use. There was plenty of parking that the group in the first floor and us in the second floor had spaces to park and we had three cars. It was really convenient that it was so close to the mountain! Thank you for letting us stay here! Had a great time.

    Minori2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with friends and would definitely go back. Extremely clean, comfortable and great kitchen for everyone gathering! Close to town and skiing. Vincent was easy to get ahold of.

    Tara2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We found the house to be a great place to stay. It easily accommodated our large group, was minutes away from the skiing, boarding, and cross-country skiing of Okemo, and the price was very reasonable. It was also clean and had a huge well-stocked kitchen that easily let us cook in for 10 people.

    Kyle2014-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Overall we had a good experience. The house was well located really close to the mountain and nearby shops, restaurants, etc. Vincent was always fast to reply to any questions. So here are some pros and cons. Pros: - great location - good size house - house was ready to for us at check in time. Cons: - very busy street. If you don't mind the sound of cars driving by all day and night you will be good! - one bedroom did not have heat so they had to sleep with the door open. - the mattresses could be a little more comfortable. I hope his helps anyone! And we would go back to this house!

    Jadir2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Vincent was extremely responsive to all of our requests and questions! We spent three great weeks in his place! It was good for a big group and extremely close to Okemo and downtown Ludlow.

Nightly/weekends, a 24 hour notice is appreciated but not required.
The neighborhood is quiet and picturesque. I'm fairly easy going, neighbors are too...we enjoy other people's company. I want guests to feel welcome and relaxed here, and expect people to be respectful and not overly rowdy.
  • Christine's home was amazing! Exactly as described. Christine met us and walked us through her home. You could see the attention to detail she has put into the space and we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Great restaurants nearby. Quick drive to Okemo. The only thing left is to decided how soon I can get back up to VT to stay again!

    Rick 2015-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Christine's lovely Vermont retreat! It's a beautiful home set in the Vermont countryside. Located roughly 4 hours and 20mins away from NYC and close to Okemo and Killington it provided the winter getaway we were looking for. Christine was an excellent host freely giving us directions and advice as to where to eat. And the room and home itself was so comfortable it was hard to leave. I can't say enough good things about our stay!

    Justin2013-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house was actually better than I anticipated and we had such a great time in Christine's home in Vermont! So beautiful, in a great, quiet, remote location with gorgeous views. Christine made the stay very easy for us and although we didn't get to meet in person, everything went very smoothly. There were a few mall miscommunications post-stay but everything worked out, just caused a little bit of stress for both parties I think!

    Katelyn2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely welcome our host met us at the house explain to us the working of the woodstove on this very cold weekend and give us a brief nonintrusive tour

    howard2015-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay! The house is a fantastic old house with modern finishes. Everything was clean and comfortable.

    Josh2015-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Christine welcomed us into her home like we were family. She provided local restaurant tips (and even directions) without hesitation. She was always available by text or email (and likely phone, if I had tried). She even spent some of her evening with us one night. We did not know much about the area - we were in town on a business trip - but we felt comfortable knowing that Christine was there to help. It was very refreshing. Additionally, her home was exactly as advertised; it was perfect. There were no surprises. There was plenty of space, inside and out. Plus, there is some impressive countryside to stroll though, including the nearby vineyard. The only disappointment of the visit is that it ended so quickly. I would absolutely recommend a visit to this beautiful home and hope to revisit soon.

    HT2014-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Christine's adorable home in Vermont. Eight guests stayed in the house, and there was plenty of space for cooking and relaxing. The kitchen is seriously gorgeous!! I highly recommend this home for anyone looking for a cozy weekend getaway!

  • My boyfriend and I needed a place to stay while skiing at Okemo for 2 days, and Carol's listing was perfect for us! The apartment was very cozy, clean, and welcoming and had everything you would need for a long ski weekend. There were directions placed throughout the apartment about lighting and apartment quirks, and she even left a map with little post-its describing where certain places were. Although it was very secluded, it was really easy and quick drive to Okemo mountain. If I ever come back to Okemo, I'd definitely stay here again!

    Molly2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My best friend got married at Glimmerstone Mansion in Cavendish. My boyfriend and I made the trip up from Rhode Island for the occasion. This place was perfect. Only 10 minutes from Glimmerstone. So quiet and clean. We were pretty much only there to change and sleep, and even though the space was smaller, it was perfect for the two of us and had everything we needed. Iron, junk drawer with masking tape so I could get the lint off my dress, they even provided toiletries and extra toothbrushes and toothpaste. It was easy to find and plenty of written instructions on how to operate things in the apartment. Would absolutely recommended for a short trip for 1 or 2 people.

    Ali2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a gem, nestled in the woods near beautiful lakes. I would definitely stay here again!

    Clare2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The room itself is much bigger than the pictures! The bathroom was absolutely perfect as well as the kitchen/dining area. Driving out to Carol's, there are a lot of winding dirt roads so go slow. If you arrive at night, the house will sometimes be lit with lights all around the front (hard to miss).

  • This place is a real gem! The breakfast is outstanding, Anne and Jeff are wonderful, and it's so cozy and warm during the winter! We brought our two kids and our dog, and we all had a fantastic time. Thanks, Anne and Jeff!

    Karen2017-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's rating of "Super host" is NO JOKE! Her and Jeff are one of the nicest couples we've ever met. We were looking for a central location for friends and family to have a 30th birthday party and this was a great choice! We couldn't have asked for anything more from Anne and Jeff - they went ABOVE AND BEYOND helping make sure things went smoothly and we had everything we needed, including wood for a 12 ft bonfire! Breakfast Sunday morning was delicious and the table setting could've been featured in a magazine! We didn't see them much, which was fine as they were readily accessible if/when we needed them. If we're ever in the market for another reunion in this area - Anne & Jeff's farmhouse will for sure be at the top of our list!

    Amanda2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house was absolutely beautiful! Breakfast was delicious both mornings. We felt welcome the entire time.

    Megan2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was absolutely gorgeous, in a quiet scenic location. Ann and Jeff were very welcoming and made a huge, delicious breakfast for our group of 7.

    Trish2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was an amazing host and we had a fantastic time! The location is absolutely beautiful, and the house itself is wonderful. It was particularly beautiful with the foliage in autumn, but I imagine there would be beautiful views and great activities at any time of year. Anne was very accommodating of our last minute changes to the number of guests we had. And, of course, the pictures don't even do the breakfast justice! The breakfast was incredible, and Anne even made me a (very delicious) birthday cake! Everything was beautifully thought out, and we greatly appreciated the hospitality!

    Bethany2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's place was beyond amazing and comfortable. I was with a group of four friends and all of us loved the place. Anne made us feel at home and even took us shopping for a birthday cake (it was my birthday that weekend). Her breakfast was delicious! I can't believe she bakes her own bread. I only have good things to say about her place and I think she's the best host you could ask for.

    Danish2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was superb with everything from helping me plan my event to communicating with the caterer and tent movers to make sure my event went off without a hitch! Thank you Anne!

This apartment is spacious and well furnished. Do take care of the beautiful things and enjoy them, but remember it is a home and deserves your care. Shoes at the door, feet on the floor, etc. Thanks.
Our neighborhood is RURAL! We live on a dirt road off a dirt road with a beautiful brook running alongside the road and ponds up the hill on our property. In the summer we often have our neighbor's sheep in our fields, fish in pond, and wood waiting to be stacked for the winter. In the fall the mountains are colorful with red and gold leaves. Spring just smells good; it is the hopeful time of the year as things are about to bloom. And winter - we have SNOW! We are near many major ski areas: Okemo, Killington, Magic, Bromley and Stratton. We keep our roads plowed and sanded. Come join us for any season.
  • Very spacious apartment with great views and a short drive to plenty of hikes. Nancy is very responsive, helpful and welcoming.

  • This is my second time staying at the Beautiful Mountain Retreat and my third time at one of Hugh and Nancy's properties. My daughter goes to a camp in Weston, and Hugh and Nancy's places in Chester have become our "go to" homes away from home. My daughter is already talking about next year so we will likely be back for stays #4 and 5 in the summer of 2017!

    Jennifer2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Hugh and Nancy's place! Such a beautifully appointed home environment. John was also a gracious host--taking us around to see the sugar house and driving us to the top of the mountain for the AMAZING view. Really a magical weekend for our whole family. In addition to enjoying the mountaintop, my daughters had a fantastic time exploring the Williams River. Already planning a return visit for next summer while my daughter is at camp in Weston. The location, comfort and hospitality were worth the drive over the mountain!

  • We only had a short stay, but there is lots of space for family and friends in the apartment. I am sure it would be great for a longer stay, to enjoy foliage, skiing or other activities in the area. It is just a short drive to Ludlow and Chester.

Beautifully decorated 1st floor apartment, private entrance, queen bed, pullout couch in living room, full bath, kitchenette, deck with mountain view in heart of Vermont woods, trails for year round recreation near charming towns with A+ restaurants, skiing, shopping, all you can imagine for a great Vermont year round getaway. For winter snowmobilers the VAST snowmobile trail is accessible from our property as are trails for XC skiing and snowshoeing.
The setting is beautiful. The apartment spacious and charming.
Our neighborhood is RURAL! We live on a dirt road off a dirt road with a beautiful brook running alongside the road and ponds up the hill on our property. In the summer we often have our neighbor's sheep in our fields, fish in pond, and wood waiting to be stacked for the winter. In the fall the mountains are splendid with colorful leaves, and spring just smells good; it is the hopeful time of the year as things are about to bloom. And winter - we have SNOW! And we keep our roads plowed. Come join us for any season.
  • The location was amazingly beautiful with stunning views as advertised. The flat is very nice with spacious bed room, living area, and bathroom. Nicely furnished and clean. The kitchen area is very basic with no oven, but that is not a surprise. Refrigerator more than adequate for a week's stay. Grounds were great to take a walk or a run. Host was easy to communicate with via email or texting and kept us apprised of their activities to coordinate our arrival. Would definitely return and looking forward to visiting again. Thanks, Hugh and Nancy. Wonderful place.

  • This place was amazing. Beautiful, quiet, clean and perfect for up to 4 people. Really easy and quick drive to Okemo. We would highly recommend this place!

  • A great place to stay! Very clean and nice house located in a quiet place. We enjoyed the view, the pond and playing with the dog. Definitely would like to come back again.

  • Perfect place to stay for a ski trip! Close to Okemo and lots of great restaurants. The space was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view! I was pleasantly surprised by the super comfortable mattress! And, I snagged a couple bottles of maple syrup that they make right on the property for an awesome price!

  • If you're looking for a homey feel with a gorgeous setting, this is the place to stay. The "granny flat" is set overlooking the Purple Hill mountains. The setting is gorgeous. The hosts were very welcoming and communicate effectively. Our favorite part was hiking outside their house being led by their dog to the top of the Purple Hill mountains. We also purchased Vermont maple syrup produced on their property st their sugar house. It was a lovely stay.

  • Couldn't recommend this spot more! We felt welcomed yet had privacy. Very family friendly as we had our 4 year old with us. The tree house was amazing! Truly impressive. The property itself is out of this world. Lots of exploring. We continued to be surprised by driving up to the top of their property to find a beautiful view. We would love to go back.

  • Enjoyed the stay and their generosity. Will surely visit it again

  • We didn't have the opportunity to stay long, but the hosts were friendly and helpful, the apartment was very clean, there was a great TempurPedic mattress, and the property is beautiful. Recommended.

  • The pictures do not do this house justice. Everyone in our group loved the house and had a wonderful time. We made full use of their kitchen, bar, and hot tub. This was my first time renting with airbnb and I was skeptical but the whole experience was overall pleasant. Mary Jane was very responsive to all our questions and requests and we would not hesitate to work with her again in the future.

    Jen2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, we had a wonderful visit. We couldn't have been happier with the location, the grounds, and Glimmerstone itself. Our whole group loved the opportunity to cook family style meals in the kitchen, to relax by the fire in the main living room, and to decompress after a day at Okemo in the hot tub. The bedrooms were comfortable and everyone appreciated the large number of bathrooms. Thanks again for a great weekend!

I live in an old Vermont farm house built in 1857. It has lots of charm and warmth with plenty of room. Nearby ski areas and hiking trails are plentiful, as well as lakes for swimming and boating. I have a large back yard with plenty of room for outdoor games or just relaxing in the fresh air. I have two dogs and one cat.
Rural area centrally located between the towns of Springfield, Ludlow, Ascutney and Reading Vermont. Just 8 miles from New Hampshire border where you can shop with no sales tax. Nearby ski areas include Okemo Mountain (10 mi.), Suicide Six (18 mi.), Killington Ski Area (20 mi.), and Bromley Mountain Ski Resort (24 mi.), to name a few.
  • Great place to stay if you wanna ski at Okemo. 20 minute drive to the mountain, 10-15 for local restaurants and stores. Marjorie was very accommodating with all of our gear, made plenty of space for us and even let us regulate the thermostat. She also made us some amazing cranberry nut bread and cookies during our stay. Her dogs and cat (also a dog) were very friendly and well behaved. Marjorie even accommodated are unusual arrival and departure times. Overall I couldn’t recommend it enough, I had a great stay, much better than your typical hotel stay.

  • Mrs Marjie is a wonderful host. She responds to messages quickly. She allowed our kid to stay with us, though our plan was sudden to book her private shared room, she added an extra bed for us from her courtesy. Her cat and dog are so adorable. My kid loved to play with them. She is such a wonderful person, she offered complimentary breakfast in the morning and played with our kid like a grandma. Will definitely promote and recommend to stay with her. Out side of the house premises might not look promising and pleasant to eye, but inside the house every thing is well decorated and neat and clean. Looks classic. All the good wishes to you mrs Marjie.

  • Marjorie's place was perfect! The room was very comfortable and she was very clear that we should make ourselves at home using the kitchen. Her location is perfect for Okemo!

  • Marjorie is an amazing person and a caring host. Her place felt like home. Cozy and full of love. Clean. Curling under a blanket next to the stove with a cup of tea is the perfect way to end a day spent in the mountains. Overall, you should stay with her just to meet her.

    Burcin2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • I was able to dry and warm my wet ski clothes in front of the pellet stove. I was so thankful for this on a sub-zero morning!

    Barrett2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Marjorie was super nice to us and made sure we stayed clean, warm and well-fed during our entire stay. The place itself was cozy and full of personal touches, far, far, FAR better than any typical AirBnB experience. We 100% enjoyed our time there, and would love to come back!

    Duy2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best stay! The host was more than welcoming. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We stayed at the right time too because she had the House festive in holiday decor making it feel like a perfect New Years getaway in Vermont. The house is about a 15-20 minunte drive to Okemo and around 45 to Killington. If you’re dog lovers, you’ll love her sweet animals because they are the cutest. We would highly recommend this place.
