Places to stay in Catterick
Clean & tidy double bedroom in a flat near to shops, supermarkets, cinema, leisure centre, pubs and restaurants. Good place to stay for visitors to the Dales, servicemen and ex-servicemen visiting friends or families. Cheap and cheerful. Help yourselves to tea & coffee. You can really make yourselves at home and do your own thing. Pets welcome - I have a small dog, so please note if you have allergies. I smoke, but only outside and in my bedroom., the flat is well aired. Any queries please ask.
My space is nowhere near unique - it's like many others, but I hope I provide a friendly, comfortable atmosphere for my guests. I always hope to be able to greet my guests personally and introduce them to the space and provide all the info they will need for their stay.

  • Fantastic little gem, wonderful hosts and super clean! Thanks Liam and Claire x

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Liam and Claire's place was a luxurious retreat. We didn't stay long, but still made great use of the hot tub, which was incredible. Great welcome from Liam, who was incredibly friendly but gave us plenty of space and time to ourselves. The barn and hot tub felt very private and were very clean and welcoming. Lots of nice little touches and the breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be back for another visit.

    Nick2020-03-02T00:00:00Z

  • The lodge is perfect for a get away from it all break lovely & clean comfortable beds & nice location we loved the hot tub !

    Jane2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning place - we booked 2 nights here and absolutely adored it so we crossed our fingers and thought we would try our luck to stay another night and to our enjoyment, we was able too. The cabin itself is lovely and warm and feels so homely. The hot tub was superb. With the crisp winter evenings it was perfect for relaxing. The best part was being able to bring our little fur babies who absolutely loved their family holiday. Would highly recommend walks in Osmotherley. 5* get away would highly recommend.

    Sian2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little lodge and great that the garden and lodge was dog friendly so he could come too! A couple of issues caused by the weather but can’t help the British weather and Georgie was extremely helpful. Hot tub was fantastic!

    Jen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I were looking forward to spending a few days together for a birthday following a very busy period at work. The lodge was an excellent departure from hotels, full of character and so much better than a generic hotel room. The hot tub was excellent, and only a few feet from the door so was even usable in the depths of winter.

    Ian2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Georgie's place was perfect and very private from the rest of the caravan site with an enclosed wall surrounding the cabin, we loved the hotub and surrounding areas and it was a bonus that it is dog friendly, we took our dachshund and he loved it.

Belvedere is in the centre of the beautiful Middleton Tyas Village just off The Green, and a mile off the A1 at Scotch Corner. It sits between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks and the seaside is 45 minutes away. Village shop and post office only 100 yards, and the Shoulder of Mutton Pub/Restaurant is two minutes walk and has great food and wines. The Loft is a large self contained en suite room above the garage with a double and two single beds. Peace and quiet guaranteed!
The accommodation is light and airy and offers plenty of room for either a couple or a family with 2 children. (Please note that the maximum number of adults accommodated is two) Coffee tea and biscuits provided and breakfast is available from Scotch Corner Services less than a mile away.
Very friendly rural village with a population of around 600. The village is in a Conservation Area and has many Listed Buildings. Formerly a copper mining area, and there is still evidence of the disused workings. St Michael's & All Angels Church is Norman and there are many famous people who have worshipped there, including the Backhouse family who founded Barclays Bank. The church is very popular for weddings and works closely with Middleton Lodge who offer great facilities for receptions. There is a village primary school that has around 150 pupils. The Memorial Hall in the centre of the village is used by a wide number of organisations for club activities and events.
  • Excellent accommodation

    Monica2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's loft was in a very convenient location for attending two days of wedding celebrations at the Yorkshire Wedding Barn. His communication and responses were great. The loft was spotless with helpful extra touches such as tea/coffee making facilities and some milk and water in a mini fridge. We would highly recommend.

    Kayleigh2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stopped over for a night to break up a long drive. Fantastic location for access to the A1 and there’s a brilliant pub for dinner within walking distance. Super clean, and a welcoming host. Thank you!

    Constance2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely warm, clean and comfortable accommodation with fresh milk and bottled water in a small fridge. Very private and secure with private parking right outside the building. The Shoulder of Mutton pub serves excellent food only 3 minutes walk away. It was the perfect halfway stop on our trip home from Scotland being only 5 minutes drive from the A1(M) motorway at Scott’s Corner. We highly recommend it.

  • Great wee place. Comfortable, well equipped and easy to find.

    Iain2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here end of Jan. Anna was as welcoming as her home, what a lovely place. It was well equipped and spotlessly clean. I took no time in lighting the stove which warmed the whole house up so well I didn't need the additional heaters. Location is pretty and the local pub is friendly with decent home cooked food and a short walk away. Nice walks via footpaths round the village for my dog, and not far from the Dales for more adventurous walking. I'd stay here again.

  • A lovely Airbnb, such a comfortable bed and great shower. Lovely to have access to a little kitchenette so could have fresh milk and breakfast at our leisure. No hesitation in recommending this place. Many thanks.

  • Cute annex to the owners house, with huge double bedroom, nice bathroom, and kitchenette. Jo-ann left some lovely breakfast treats for us, and there is use of a microwave. Make sure you have the photo of how to get there, via the entrance with 'The Barn' as otherwise you may end up like us, having to call from the pub to direct us. Luckily Jo-Ann was super quick to respond to messages and guided us safely to ' The dairy'. Very close to the A1 so perfect for our journey up to Scotland.

    Lydia2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic flat. Has everything I needed and more as a cyclist touring: some thoughtful breakfast provision and a garage to keep my bike in. If I could give more stars I would!

Kathryn and Trevor were very responsive and welcoming, and their attention to detail was great too (fridge and kitchen stocked with essentials, fireplace on when we arrived etc). The Den itself was very clean, a good size, well maintained and in a peaceful area with a nice local pub. Overall highly recommended, we would gladly come back and stay longer.

If you're staying on a Sunday night and want to eat out, the two pubs within walking distance stop serving food around 4pm, but there are places to eat in Bedale and the wider area within a 5-10 min drive that are open Sunday evenings.

  • My second stay here at Limekilns and I hope not my last. I was up here for work and needed a quiet comfortable base. It’s a beautiful spot, Fiona’s dogs wished me hello every morning and I slept like a log. I needed to extend the stay twice and Fiona responded instantly to my requests. That’s the great thing about these hosts, you know they’re about if you need them. Recommended highly.

  • What a gem of a home! It was incredibly cozy and private. We didn’t have much of a chance to explore - we were in town for a wedding at Middleton Lodge. The lodge was in walking distance for us, which is why we booked here. However, having now stayed at Fiona’s, it’s a destination in its self if you’re looking to get away from it all. The eggs & milk left for us were such a lovely added touch. The sheep and dog were wonderful yard friends! :)

  • A lovely place, well decorated and lots of nice personalised touches. Would highly recommend!

  • So cute! Super cozy, homey feel! Beautiful views and great location to be remote but close enough to be near things to do! Very thoughtful with eggs and milk for us to use! Just an outstanding place!

  • Highly recommend! Beautiful little place with the surroundings to go with it.

    Liam2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Richmond! It was much easier to find than we expected! It was very clean, cosy and a very lovely, peaceful environment. There is everything you need - the kitchen was very well equipped if you are wanting to cook and we loved the little added touches of the chocolates and eggs! The shower was lovely and hot and the bed is perfect if you're after a good night's sleep! We loved our stay here - if only we could have stayed for longer!

    Megan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is SO easy to find off the A1, yet is so close to lots of lovely places like Richmond and Northallerton. It was really clean, had everything we needed and the living room looked out over green grass as far as the eye could see. It was such a cosy place, beautifully decorated and such a nice place to be and relax for a weekend. The fire was especially nice in the cold weather. We would definitely re-visit.

The cottage is well equipped for self catering accommodation and is furnished as a farm cottage, with a light and cosy feel inside. We have spent a lot of time ensuring that there is everything you could want and need in the cottage to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
On the ground floor there is a comfortable living/dining room, with a log burner and TV, a kitchen area fully equipped, and a bathroom and toilet. The double and single bedrooms are located on the first floor, with a traditionally windy cottage staircase.
The village of Newton-Le-Willows is a very friendly and quiet village. There is plenty of local eating places nearby and plenty of dales market towns to enjoy, such as Leyburn, Masham, Middleham, Bedale and Hawes, to name a few.
  • Amazingly comfy bed and great hosts and cottage! Could not have asked for more, also, great cakes!!

    Louise2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Sheena's place. Its a lovely cosy place on a working farm. Our dog loved to roam around the gardens; a bit too much may I add. The bed was very comfortable. Thank you for the warm hospitality and the welcome cake. The cakes themselves need a separate review, absolutely amazing cakes. We had everything we needed for a weekend stay and it would be plenty for a stay for 3 or four nights.

  • Sheena's place is clean, cozy and comfortable and quiet, I would recommend it, excellent 👍😁

  • We loved Julia’s cottage. It is really easy to access, and in a great location for walking round Richmond or zooming out into the Dales. The cottage itself is beautifully kept, super clean, and it was lovely to arrive to fresh milk, tea and biscuits and a bottle of wine. Living room was cosy and comfortable with great wood burning stove. This is a real treasure of a place to stay. Hope to come back soon.

    Jane2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, can't recommend enough, Julia was brillant and she has a lovely home, great location, lots to do, will definitely be back

    Vanessa2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We spend a weekend at Julia's cottage, as a sort of weekend getaway. It was absolutely perfect for that, but we could just as happily spent a full week or month there. It worked perfectly for us as a couple, but it would also be perfect with kids or with 2 other friends. Everything is exactly as described, sparkling clean and very very nice. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a small very tidy bathroom. It was fantastic for a winter adventure, but would also be perfect in the summer months, I'm sure. It is located in a lovely green and it's walking distance to a fantastic walk by the river or in to the centre of Richmond. The Dales are really just there as well, so there is no fault. Honestly: if you are looking for something in this area, just book with Julia. It was perfect.

This house is ideally located for Catterick Garrison, Richmond and the Dales. Only 1 mile from the Garrison centre which offers shops, pubs, restaurants, cinema, modern gym and swimming pools. Richmond - Founded by the Normans in 1071, Richmond is a leafy, vibrant market town with an impressive castle keep, a vast cobbled market place and an elegant Georgian district. Explore its colourful past at Easby Abbey, take a guided ghostwalk or stroll along the green banks of the River Swale. Fifteen minutes from the delightful Dales town of Leyburn and Wensleydale. The Yorkshire Dales is home to outstanding scenery, a rich cultural heritage and a breathtakingly peaceful atmosphere. At its heart are two very special protected areas - Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - as well as it having the Forest of Bowland AONB and North Pennines AONB as its close neighbours. These protected areas are truly not to be missed. Each of the Yorkshire Dales has a different character. The Southern Dales are less remote, yet still wildly beautiful. The Northern Dales provide rugged scenery for walking and sightseeing. And in the West, the pretty villages and small towns each have their own charm. The Dales are worth a visit at any time of year - whether it's to visit a snug country pub with an open fire in the winter months, or stay in a rambling riverside cottage for a summer break. The possibilities are endless! Northallerton - Set in the rich farmland of Herriot Country, you would be forgiven for thinking Northallerton is the perfect place for a sedate country escape. But instead this thriving and bustling market town is full of life and is an ideal base for visitors to explore the nearby moors, historical cities and picturesque villages.
  • The house is lovely! Very spacious, beautifully decorated, and really thoughtful little touches throughout. There was a lovely gift left for us on the kitchen table, and there were loads of things to use around the house if we needed them (dishwasher tablets, tea, shampoo and conditioner, extra towels etc etc). We were able to cook up a full roast for 8people using the kitchen facilities and cookware. And the communication we received from Lorna was fast and detailed. Could not be happier. Thank you, and happy new year! 💕

    Jenni2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a comfortable, clean and warm home in a very quiet area with parking included. Whilst there isn’t much around Catterick Garrison in terms of sight seeing, it’s only a five minute drive from Richmond. There’s a washing machine.! We welcomed the provisions provided to make a cup of tea on arrival.

  • Lorna's place is as described - a good place for a family or 2 couples as there are 2 full bathrooms. The place was clean, well equipped, beds comfortable. We were in the area for a wedding nearby and this was a good location. We can recommend spending some time in Richmond, a nearby market town.

  • Great place to stay! The area was picturesque and the little surround village was cute. Enjoyed having two pubs just a two minute walk away from the cottage. The place was sparkling clean with everything you could possibly need for your stay whether short term or long term. Seeing as it was Christmas time, the host had decorated the living room with a lighted tree and other holiday touches. Really made it feel like home away from home. Having a fireplace was also a bonus! My kids loved sleeping in the attic space. Host was very responsive from the get-go. Thoroughly enjoyed staying there and would definitely stay again. Excellent value for money!

Brompton on Swale village is home to a traditional pub and village shop. There are pleasant walks to be enjoyed around the village and along the riverside. The nearby ancient market town of Richmond is three miles away with its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' which enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071. Today Richmond offers wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Brompton-on-Swale is located between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Yorkshire Moors National Park providing an ideal location for exploring this scenic area.

The Farmers Arms do great food and a good quiz night. This is just a 10 minute walk. Last orders for food on a Sunday is 6pm though! The Heifer in the lovely little village of Scorton is worth taking a short drive to. An excellent lunch time deal with different offers on some evenings too.

  • Excellent little find. Private and accessible, will happily stay here again.

  • The property is absolutely lovely; clean, stylish and comfortable. The kitchen is reasonably well kitted out for 2 and the shower was good too. It's fairly well situated near the A1 so while there's not much in Brompton-on-Swale itself it's very easy to get to other places. They had a lovely list of recommendations and walks provided for the guests too. The WiFi wasn't amazing, but otherwise not a bad word to say. We had a lovely stay, and would definitely recommend to our friends and family.

    Joanne2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Superb host who took great care to ensure we had ll we could possibly need, which was greatly appreciated after a very long journey. We arrived late evening to find a welcoming open fire, really warm house and some surprise treats. The cottage was more spacious than expected and very tastefully decorated in a style in keeping with it’s era, but with modern little twists. We had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend.

  • From the minute we walked into Sarah's little cottage it felt like home, with a traditional farmhouse kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Beautiful conservatory into a garden with a spectacular view which has outdoor seating. Very clean and comfortable and loved all the little extra touches. A nice bar and restaurant next door, cosy village pub half a mile down road and a lovely village hall that does a cracking breakfast on a saturday morning. Great location for visiting nearby attractions or just peace and quiet.

  • Sarah's cottage is an absolute gem, it has real character , very tastefully furnished and with lots of thoughtful extras. The cottage is extremely well equipped. The location is a good base for exploring North Yorkshire. After days out you may either cook or choose to eat at the neighbouring pub - The Wellington Heifer which we found served very good food.

    Louise&Richard2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, stylish cottage with a lovely garden. We arrived to find milk, bread, butter etc as well as wine, beer, and chocolate. Close to a pub (not noisy), so very convenient for a meal out. Host's communication was very good.

  • Everything about this cottage is beautiful. We had a very relaxing stay. Lots of extra touches, which enhance the stay.

Two floor spacious accommodation in central Richmond which makes a great base for touring the Yorkshire Dales. The Barn stands in a courtyard off the top of Frenchgate, one of the town's best-known ancient cobbled streets. It's a peaceful spot only a few minutes' walk from the market square with its shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs.
The Barn is tucked away behind the old butcher’s shop, which is our home. A quiet and peaceful space which you’ll have sole use of during your stay. A private entrance leads to an open plan, relaxed, bright space with one large bedroom, living/dining area and kitchen space on the top floor. The large space downstairs has bunk beds, a z-bed for an extra child (or adult) and the shower room. The kitchen contains essentials for self catering and we provide basics (tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter etc). Living/dining area has tv, dvds, record player and a selection of children’s books and toys. There is plenty of inside storage space suitable for bikes and muddy walking gear. It’s an ideal space for families or groups of friends, but is compact enough that it is comfortable for individuals or couples as well. Guests are very welcome to use the garden/courtyard (shared with us and BLUES NIGHT records).
Richmond is a picturesque market town which sits against the stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales, and is popular with walkers, cyclists and artists. Frenchgate is a peaceful, cobbled street, just a few minutes' walk from the pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops in the market place. Richmond Castle is a short stroll away, and affords wonderful views of the town, across the river and into the Dales. Through the churchyard and over the bridge is The Station which houses our local cinema (tickets £5!), an artisan bakery, an ice cream parlour and the local brewery. The town also offers museums, picturesque lanes and wynds and an abundance of Georgian architecture. If you fancy a longer walk, Hudswell Woods (National Trust) is a treat with a wonderful reward at its end - The George & Dragon community pub has been CAMRA Yorkshire pub of the year for the last three years. The Barn is also well-placed for stargazing in the Dales with the Dark Skies festival, or for the Swale Trail, a unique family cycling trail through our North-Eastern part of the National Park.
  • Really nice location in Richmond and had everything you need for staying with a baby.

    Charlotte2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really comfortable stay at Martine and Tim’s place in Richmond. Martine was very helpful and we liked the record shop below. It’s close to all the shops and eateries you could need. We would love to return.

  • Thank you for a great stay. Easy check in and super friendly! Amazing space which was perfect for our relaxing night away in Richmond. We ventured out to a local pub but then came back to escape the storm and had a lovely evening in. Great location for walks. Walked to The George and Dragon and back from Richmond which is recommended. Thank you for being great hosts and giving us the privacy we like to have during our trips away but also the offer of records and beer was also appreciated 😀

  • What a fabulous place to stay, well stocked with everything you need on a self catering holiday. Superb location only 15 minutes from Northallerton for Tesco’s and very central for everything we wanted to do. Lovely private walled garden which was perfect for the dog. The lane next to the cottage can be a little busy, but not enough to spoil the location. Would not hesitate to recommend this great little find to anyone.

This is a beautifully presented and incredibly spacious townhouse located on the pretty village green with a picturesque stream and picnic benches to the front. It's perfectly suited to families and friends seeking a relaxing break and has recently been refurbished. The cottage has all the amenities for a fantastic time away such as a hot tub, sauna, games room and gym. The local pub is only a minute's walk across the green and the Co-Op shop 3 minute's walk in the opposite direction.
This is a beautifully presented and incredibly spacious townhouse located on the pretty village green with a picturesque stream and picnic benches to the front. It's perfectly suited to families and friends seeking a relaxing break and has recently been refurbished. The cottage has all the amenities for a fantastic time away such as a hot tub, sauna, games room with full size snooker table and gym. The local pub is only a minute's walk across the green and the Co-Op shop 3 minute's walk in the opposite direction. Up to well-behaved 4 dogs are accepted. Stepping Stones is only a few minutes away from the A1(M) and makes it a great spot for people coming from different direction to meet up. It is less than an hour's drive from Newcastle and Leeds and under two hours from Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. Once at the house, guests have the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors on their doorstep and it's the perfect base for walking and cycling. There are two pubs within a 2 minute walk of the house and numerous restaurants within a few miles' radius. The Oak Tree pub in particular comes recommended - it's a Samuel Smith's Brewery pub with a cosy feel and full of friendly locals. The stylish interiors have been designed by a London-based interior designer with thoughtful touches such as the vinyl player and selection of classic LPs in the living room and games chest full of board games in the study. Outside, the lawned garden is completely enclosed making it safe for children and pets. The property comprises of the main Stepping Stones house which has been adjoined to the next door cottage. This makes it a perfect choice for families and groups of friends since there are two kitchens and two living rooms - the smaller one perfect for the kids so the adults can enjoy some peace and quiet! There is a brook that flows in front of the house with picnic benches to eat out on in the summer and a resident population of ducks all year round. The road itself has no through access and is for residents only so is very quiet with plenty of parking if the 6 spaces within the curtilage of the house aren't enough.
There are two pubs within two-minutes' walk of the front door as well as a local cafe, restaurants, Co-Op and pharmacy within 1km. Catterick Village is a quiet and picturesque village full of Grade II listed buildings and country trails available from the doorstep. Further afield, villages such as Richmond and Middleham provide more pubs and shops and the Yorkshire Dales are right on your doorstep to explore.

Everything was great from the fresh clean linen to the extra little touches like milk, tea and coffee. Charles was very accommodating and would definitely recommend him as a great host. • This is a lovely, clean and cosy cottage in the centre of Richmond. We stayed here for 2 nights in early January, and the cottage really was a cosy home from home. The property is well equipped, and we enjoyed staying in of an evening. Charles was a fantastic host, who ensured we knew were to park, how to work the heating etc, and the correspondence was prompt and informative. I would definitely hope to stay here again, when I return to Richmond. Thank you, Charles!

    Sarah2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cosy cottage close to Richmond town centre with its shops and many pubs. There is a convenience store just moments away, through the car park in front of the property. The cottage appears to be newly renovated so everything is pristine, comfy beds with crisp white bedding and plenty of new fluffy towels. Access if arriving by car is by means of the rear of the cottage down a small pathway so easily missed, especially if arriving after dark, but a pleasant surprise. There is a dedicated parking space at the back too, immediately outside of the row of cottages. Communication with Charles was easy and he even popped by to welcome us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Andrew was a really lovely host, lots of thoughtful touches and the place was amazing! Really wish we could have enjoyed it for longer!

    Claire2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely one night stay as part of birthday celebration .Andrew very warmly welcomed us and showed us round the accommodation and how to work the hot tub . Andrew has everything pitched just right for guests to enjoy a one or two nights relaxing getaway - Warm clean and cosy , comfy sofa , Tv , large shower , compact kitchen area with everything provided if you wish to self cater. Beautiful bedroom space with large comfortable bed and a wonderful relaxing hot tub and the cherry on the cake was the fantastically well presented super continental breakfast that " just appears" next morning - everything seemed really well thought through from the box containing all requirements for the hot tub ( towels instructions etc) to bath robes and simple instructions left out for the appliances and little welcoming goodies - there was even an honesty box containing toiletries which we used and thought this was a fantastic idea we hadn't seen before in other places we have stayed . We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay again as we loved the hot tub and felt so relaxed and slept really well .

    Stephen2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding stay, we couldn’t have asked for anymore. Andrew was extremely helpful and friendly and welcomed us as soon as we arrived. The cottage had everything that we needed, Andrew even goes the extra mile by adding personal touches like adding a complimentary bottle of Prosecco, crisps, sweets and milk. Everything was immaculate and just perfect. Thank you again Andrew for such a lovely stay and making my girlfriends birthday :)

  • Amazing hideaway, we had a lovely relaxing stay and Andrew was the perfect host. Highly recommended

  • Andrew's place was spot on, the accommodation was well kept and clean throughout, Andrew was very helpful with getting checked in quick, the accommodation has a booklet with plenty of local information for things to do, or places to go and grab some food. Would happily stay here again.

  • We have just returned from a wonderful 2 nights in the Annex and will certainly be returning again in the future. Everything about the annex and outside area was perfect. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was a wonderful touch that set us up for the day and Andrew was the perfect host. Andrew met us on arrival, explained everything in detail about the house and hot tub and then left us to enjoy the privacy of the Annex and hot tub. Our breakfast magically appeared each morning in the corridor which was certainly something of a novelty that we haven't experienced anywhere else. Bedale is a really nice town with a good selection of eating and drinking venues and lots of countryside surrounding it for long walks.

Elmfield Lodge is set in open countryside in 24 acres of pastures, woodland and a lake. All on one-level, this is a spacious one-bedroom cottage with an open plan kitchen, dining and seating areas. There is also a double sofa bed for added flexibility. It is a tranquil country retreat with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and market towns. To the rear we look out over a pony paddock and our rare breed Wensleydale sheep graze our pastures.
Hidden away within the grounds of Elmfield House and attached to the main farmhouse, Elmfield Lodge is all on one level with a large open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. There is a large shower room and a cosy, welcoming double bedroom with great views of the paddock to the rear. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge.
We are nestled between Bedale, Leyburn and Richmond and whilst surrounded by fields on all sides are only 10 minutes from the A1. We benefit from a range of traditional country pubs and excellent restaurants within 10 minutes.
  • Have had a lovely stay at Elmfield Lodge. Kirsty was very welcoming and suggested places to eat - The Queens Head in Finghall was excellent with top service and value for money and fab views to boot! Nothing was too much trouble and we especially enjoyed Kirsty's homemade cake! Enjoyed our visit so much, we have booked to stay again!

  • My wife, Wendy, and I have used Airbnb in the US and Europe for the last five years. Kirsty and her apartment in Yorkshire surpassed all of our expectations by a very wide margin. As a host, she is second to none, and the apartment was incredible; spacious, clean, and inviting. After a warm greeting, she asked about our travel style. We like to avoid tourist traps and seek out small undiscovered sights and villages. She offered many suggestions (a local cricket match in Crakehall, an out of the way woodworking shop made famous by a mouse carved on each item in Kilburn, and a yellow plastic duck race in Richmond.) Kristy's apartment is centrally located so that we enjoyed easy drives to both the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. We might add that Campbell's grocery store in Leyburn has an incredible meat market. We enjoyed cooking English bacon and sausage for our dinners. Also, budget time to see Richmond. You will find free two-hour parking on the town square, and Richmond Castle is a "must see." Although it was closed, we window shopped the unbelievable meat market in Masham. If you want incredible views of the dales, drive the one-lane road from Reeth on Swale Dale to Askrigg on Wensleydale.

  • This is a wonderful place to stay. Spotlessly clean with everything one would need. Very quiet too despite hectic lambing! Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. I definitely would stay again.

  • We spent a week at Elmfield Lodge and would highly recommend anyone else to do the same! The lodge was warm and comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Kirsty was a wonderful host and has great local knowledge of the area. Would highly recommend treating yourself to Kirsty's cooked breakfast at the B & B next door during your stay! We will definitely be returning in the future.

  • Together with our baby (6 months) we stayed 4 nights. It was a great place to stay with a baby!!! Kirsty arranged the baby cot and high chair for us. And because we had a separate bedroom, our baby could go to bed while we enjoyed the living area. The space was very clean. We’re usually not cooking during a holiday, but the kitchen was very well equipped with a dishwasher, oven and microwave. Surrounded by nature. It’s close to a big supermarket and the high way. The surroundings of Yorkshire Dales are amazing!!! The only thing: my boyfriend is very tall (1.93 meters) and the bed was very short for him. It was a lovely stay. Thank you!

  • Kirsty runs a lovely, cosy place to get away and enjoy peace and quiet. The accommodation is kept to a very high standard, very clean and well equipped. Kirsty communicated promptly and clearly and she went above and beyond to cater for our individual requests. On top of all this, the cake as part of the welcome pack is DELICIOUS! Mmmmm

  • Kirsty is an amazing host - resourceful, kind and sweet! We were a bit confused on the way to find Elmfield hosue because it was really dark around when we arrived and we only followed the navigation by google map although Kirsty gave us good enough information/ suggestion to find her place. The place was perfect for a small family like us (family of 3), and everything i needed was there - clean and fresh linen, cooking/dining tools and etc. The place was surrounded by real farm with lots of sheep. My 3year old son loved it and went outside see them every morning and evening. It was quite good location to visit other villages like Layburn, Hawes and Yorkshire Dale national park. Especially, Mainsgill Farm (about 10min away from Elmfield H) was very pleasant area to enjoy proper tea and snack with nice play area for kids. Overall, we really satisfied with our stay at Kirsty's place and definitely want to visit again!

Low Gingerfield is close to the market town of Richmond but nestles in the countryside. The bedroom is light and spacious at the rear of the property. It is suitable for 2/3 people. The bathroom is shared and has no shower. Family kitchen available
This is a double room at the rear of the house, perfect for a few nights R&R. Plenty of room for a couple and a pet if required. There is no TV however free WiFi is available. The room is lit by lamps as there are no ceiling lights at the rear of the house. The bathroom is shared with me and has no shower, however there are 2 en-suite showers in other rooms in the house which can be used if available.
Richmond has an excellent mix of history. The castle, 3 museums a hidden garden and plenty of pubs and restaurants to make it an excellent place for a family holiday at a reasonable priced accommodation.
  • Just a beautiful place overlooking Ideallic countryside. Gillian is very warm host and easy to communicate with. I loved the farm animals.

  • Gillians room was very comfortable, warm, and quiet, so sleeping was not a problem, it is about 10 minutes max from Richmond, we found the old town centre there quaint and interesting. Gillian is super friendly and helpful.

  • Gillian's place was lovely. It was as described. Set in the Richmond countryside just 5min by car away. Very quiet, clean, and Gillian was an amazing host. I recommend.

  • What a beautiful cottage! My husband and I (plus a pooch) have had an amazing weekend here at Harmby. The cottage is so cosy and a great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle. Plenty to do locally from visiting a waterfall to local villages. We Walked to Leyburn (25 minutes) which had lots of pubs, restaurants and shops. Thank you to Tracey for the little welcome hampers and for all the local tips. Would definitely recommend staying at Tannery cottage. Thank you Tracey for letting us stay in your beautiful home xxx
