The Five Valleys converge on Stroud and contain some of the most beautiful countryside Britain has to offer. Butterrow Gate is also well placed for exploring further afield, with the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham both within easy reach. The green front door opens into an entrance hall which houses the washing machine/tumble dryer, and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: Laid with beautiful flagstone flooring, this uniquely shaped room features original Cotswold stone walls, pretty stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. Tastefully decorated, this room contains a sofa, a footstool and an armchair, along with a Freesat TV with DVD player and a small dining table with drop down leaves which comfortably seats two; Kitchen: This compact yet well-equipped space contains an electric oven with four ring-induction hob, a dishwasher, Morphy Richards coffee machine, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a kettle and toaster; Family bathroom: Located off the entrance hall, this room contains a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living area directly into the characterful bedroom: Master bedroom: With original Elm floorboards dating back to 1825, and exposed Cotswold stone walls, this bedroom has a romantic ambience and stunning views from the stone mullion windows over the pretty market town of Stroud and the surrounding valley. There is a pretty wrought iron double bed and two occasional chairs, as well an ornamental stone fireplace and a double wardrobe. The stable door from the bedroom opens onto the outside patio area decorated with pretty pots and featuring the walk-on glass area directly above the kitchen. Three steps lead up to a larger patio area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the market town of Stroud. This private, sunny space has an outdoor table, two chairs and a wooden bench, perfect for relaxing on warm summer days. A charcoal barbecue is provided from April to September, and there is a chiminea for cooler evenings. The outside space can also be accessed via a right of way through the neighbour’s garden and on street parking is available close to the property.
Encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn and made famous by Laurie Lee's novel "Cider with Rosie", the scenery is dramatic around Stroud. The town and its surrounding villages provide a great base from which to explore the undiscovered south Cotswolds, as well as for day trips to Bristol and Bath. London is just a 90 minute direct train away. At a time when the prevalence of chain stores has turned many of Britain's High Streets into copies of each other, Stroud is a welcome relief. With a bohemian vibe and an enviable array of independent shops, Stroud offers a unique shopping experience unrivalled by any town or city in the locality. Brimming with character and standing amidst the dramatic backdrop of the Five Valleys, Stroud has an eclectic mix of shops in the most beautiful of settings. The award-winning Farmers' Market is held each Saturday and is one of the best in the country, described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". Throughout the summer months, street performers will entertain you every Saturday morning and there is a full programme of music and theatre throughout the year – a true hub of cultural events. Stroud is a place that repays investigation, especially for the quality and variety of artists at work in the area – you could also choose to take part in one of the many traditional workshops! Food & Drink Stroud has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: JRooL Bistro (www.jrool.co.uk): JRooL Bistro is a fine example of the sum of its parts being greater than the whole. The team has a passion for food and wine, such that the end result is an experience of food, wine and service that is, simply, award winning. The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, business dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full gastronomic experience; No 23 Bar & Bistro: No 23 is a popular, independent Stroud Bar, Café and Restaurant, specialising in tapas and Mediterranean fare. The fully stocked bar serves choice wines, beers and aperitifs to complement the extensive menu; Sorrento Italian Restaurant (www.sorrentostroud.co.uk): The menu offers superb presentations of traditional favourites, such as pizzas, pasta, succulent steaks, chicken and fish dishes, all served in a relaxing, friendly environment. Stroud also has a wide range of food retailers, including an award winning Farmers' Market, held every Saturday.
  • Great, special and quirky space. Amenities were great and the place was sparkling clean, would definitely recommend and stay again. I imagine it would be spectacular in the summer. Jut watch out for stepping right onto quite a busy road where traffic comes roaring past. Parking was also tricky.

  • Property was lovely and perfect for a few days away. Tip: don't park opposite the property as you will get a note from one of the neighbours, also take your own milk as this isn't provided. Great stay and great location.

    Joanne2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated, great homely feel and everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

    Anna2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage and it’s more beautiful in real life with an amazing view. Would definitely recommend and return. Not much off street parking but we didn’t mind parking down the hill and walking up. Worth a visit for sure!

    Eleanor2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful winter break at Butterrow gate. The property is gorgeous, very quirky and has everything you need. It is also clean and well presented. The location is great for exploring Stroud and other local villages. The tips provided by the host were perfect. We loved the farmer’s market, the antiques mill and local walks. It is worth noting that the property is on a busy road and you may be kept awake by traffic if you are a light sleeper. We slept like logs from all of the walking! Xx

  • My partner and I stayed at the cottage for a week while exploring the Cotswolds. It was such a lovely place to stay. It is exactly as it looks in the pictures small and super cozy and wonderful. We had a really good time. The place was in a good location if you had a car to explore all the surrounding towns. Without a car the cottage it a little but above the town and therefore is a bit less accessible. Contact with character cottages was easy, check in and out was no issue. The only negative feedback is that the place was a little low on essentials. When we arrived there wasn’t any coffee for the coffee machine and there were no other supplies for cooking other than olive oil. However the kitchen is very sweet and easy to use for home cooked meals. We also weren’t informed beforehand that the washer and dryer machine didn’t work and didn’t find this out till arriving, I thought this would have been great to be told earlier in order to organise our washing. Otherwise the place was the picture perfect cottage and we would definitely stay there again. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone considering it.

Cherington is perfectly placed for exploring the many pretty towns and villages of the South Cotswolds including Tetbury, Nailsworth, Malmesbury and Cirencester, as well as the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham. Pear Tree Cottage is located in the quiet hamlet of Cherington. Accessed via a lovely patio garden, the front door opens directly into the spacious yet cosy living room. The following rooms are located on the ground floor: Living room: This bright and airy space is full of character and charm, including a bay window, wooden flooring, an inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove and vintage and antique tables, all complemented by wonderful artwork. There are two sofas, a Freeview TV with a DVD player, and a DAB radio; Dining room: This elegantly presented room is an ideal space for entertaining. There is a large wooden dining table with seating for six, an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, a restored antique chair, a converted copper paraffin lamp and an iPod docking station; Kitchen: This well-equipped space is perfect for home cooking and features an electric oven with four-ring electric hob, fridge with ice box, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and a CD player with radio; Utility room: A handy space for keeping muddy boots and storing jackets. This room contains a washing machine/tumble dryer, microwave and an additional fridge. A staircase in between the kitchen and utility room leads up to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A beautifully presented room with gorgeous views overlooking the quiet country lane from the bay window. There is a king size bed, two chests of drawers (one with a vanity mirror), a wooden rocking chair, plus hooks behind the door for additional hanging space; Bedroom 2: Overlooking the pear tree in the front garden, this lovely bedroom contains two single beds, a chest of drawers for storage, plus hooks for additional hanging space; Family bathroom: A bright and stylish bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin and a heated towel rail. From here, the garden continues through a gap in the stone wall to another well-maintained area which is bordered by flowers, grasses and a variety of fruit trees. This part of the garden descends to one last lawn area, a lovely tranquil space which provides stunning views over the rolling hills and Cotswold countryside beyond. Free on-street parking is readily available close to the cottage and throughout the hamlet.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • This cottage is incredibly beautiful and cosy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again!

    Emily2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely comfortable & stylish cottage. We enjoyed the proximity toTetbury with an array of antique shops galore! We visited Bath which was an easily managed one hour drive. Beds exceptionally comfy with quality linen. We enjoyed the log burner & home from home feel !Thankyou!

  • We loved our weekend in Pear Tree Cottage; a delightful retreat. It was warm and very comfortable, and suited the four of us beautifully. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, and eating in the pretty dining room. Two miles or so from Minchinhampton with pubs (we ate a very good meal at The Crown) and shops, Cherington itself is a lovely Cotswolds village with walks from the door - the countryside around magical with hoar frosts on the 2 days we were there.

    Paul2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pear Tree Cottage gives you everything you need for a perfect Cotswolds stay. For our winter stay it was cosy & utterly charming. A really delightful place.

    Lindsay2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic cottage in a lovely little village. We were welcomed at the cottage by Kevin who showed us around and let us know he was available should we need any help at all. There is a lovely log burning fire with enough wood supplied to use for one night, we bought more wood from a supermarket ten minutes drive away.

    Georgina2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful little cottage in the cotswolds. Perfect location for exploring the rest of the area. Lovely clean and cosy cottage with a wonderful fire for the evenings. Would highly recommend

    Emily2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic home away from home in a quiet village just outside Tetbury. Comfortable, spacious and well equipped - we couldn’t have asked for any more. We will definitely return for more cosy nights in front of the fire!

Situated in a small Hamlet in the Cotswolds, the property is set in quiet and peaceful surroundings. There are two pubs locally both within easy walking distance, selling excellent food in a friendly atmosphere. Your Host is at hand to give local knowledge of the area and information is available in the guest sitting room.
A recently refurbished single room with shared bathroom. You have access to a guests Sitting room with TV and wifi . You are welcome to make use of the garden where deer are frequent visitors along with the neighbours chicken ( called Martha) and a host of other wildlife.
A 10 minute drive will take you to the most delightful coffee shop 'Lavender Bake' Chalford, the food is outstandingly good. within half an hour you can reach Tetbury the home town of Prince Charles. 10 minutes you are in Minchinhampton with its beautiful common and the famous Winstones ice cream Parlour . 20 minutes to the old Roman town of Cirencester with its beautiful church an interesting shops and restaurants.
  • Jane is delightful, a lovely fun lady, and I really enjoyed her company. Her home is beautiful, tastefully decorated to a high standard, in a quiet hamlet location with beautiful Cotswold stone homes. I didn't use the guest lounge but it was lovely and a wonderful amenity for anyone staying more than one night. My satnav took me a very convoluted way but I soon realised that the hamlet is close to a larger village with friendly pubs offering food. I would love to return in summer to explore properly. My only very minor complaint is that the ad could make it clearer that the hosts are in fact a couple, as I (and many other single female travellers) tend to feel more comfortable with female hosts as a first preference. Highly recomnended.

    Ruth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Tony have a lovely home and certainly made me most welcome. Whilst the downstairs guest lounge looked awfully inviting I opted for an early night. The bedroom’s decor is beautiful in the duck egg blue and white. Along with the thoughtful little touches everywhere, it’s a gorgeous cosy little space to hunker down for the night. I would certainly recommend but try get there before nightfall as it can be a bit tricky to find in the dark.

  • Welcoming host, lovely room and facilities, exceptionally clean and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend

  • It would be hard to find any fault with this really lovely accommodation and its welcoming, thoughtful host. Highest recommendation.

    Lyn2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jane's place is really lovely - stylish, comfortable, warm and very clean with breakfast an added bonus and the most glorious surrounding countryside.

    Marilyn2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical location.... For those of us who want to get away from the bustle of town but close enough to Stroud and beautiful countryside. A lovely comfortable bedroom and the luxury of a private sitting room and personal bathroom. Great easy breakfast options and a warm welcome. Definitely recommended and in my favourites.

Little Culver is a stunning and unique Cotswold stone property, built in 1821. The cottage forms the right hand half of a beautiful castellated Grade II listed building, Culver Cottage. Originally an almshouse, it was built by David Ricardo of Gatcombe Park, and its distinctive architectural style is reflected by its reference in Pevsner's Architectural Guide for the Cotswolds. Little Culver is located in the heart of the village of Minchinhampton. An ornate arched doorway on the street opens into a lobby, which is shared with the neighbouring property. Minchinhampton is a very attractive, thriving hilltop town, situated on a tongue of high land between the Golden Valley and the Nailsworth Valley, 1.5 miles north east of Nailsworth. The town also sits on the eastern fringes of Minchinhampton Common, high above the valleys that were once prosperous with the production of cloth. The centre of Minchinhampton is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town, with a selection of nice shops and places to eat. The town is centred on its High Street and old Market Square, the main feature of which is the late 17th century Market House, supported on stone columns. The interesting Holy Trinity Church dates from the 12th century and has a truncated spire looking over the Market Square. The church was given to Caen's Abbaye aux Dames by William the Conqueror and then in 1415 passed to Syon Abbey, in whose hands it remained until the Dissolution. Minchinhampton Common is a large area of open grassland with spectacular views over the Stroud and Nailsworth valleys. The area is owned by National Trust and is an important archaeological landscape, with prehistoric field systems, burial mounds and the remains of a defensive earthwork, known as The Bulwarks. In the summer the Commons are grazed by local commoners' cattle. The area covers 635 acres and is renowned for its colourful array of wild flowers and butterflies. Food & Drink For a small market town, Minchinhampton is fortunate to be blessed with a number of good places to eat and drink: The Crown Inn (https://www.thecrown-minchinhampton.com/): Roaring fires, a restaurant serving up locally inspired flavours, and a cellar stocked full of craft ales, fine wines, and fizz - when it comes to Cotswold country pubs, The Crown Inn is the perfect place to meet, eat, and make great memories. The Ragged Cot (www.theraggedcot.co.uk): Perched high on the Cotswolds outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton sits the Ragged Cot, a country inn getaway created for serious pleasure seekers. Born of a 17th century coaching house inn set beside six hundred acres of National Trust common land the Ragged Cot is a pretty special place with an intriguing history of highwaymen and pilferage. The proprietors of the Ragged Cot take pride in their professional approach to food and service, with the seasonal menu offering great British food sourced from local farmers and even their own vegetable garden. With dishes such as seared ox tongue with pickled red cabbage, pheasant with braised leeks and artichoke puree or just simply ham, eggs with triple cooked chips you will always find a dish to fit; The Kitchen (www.thekitchenminchinhampton.co.uk): Choose a seat by the beautiful bay window and watch for riders trotting by on horseback or perhaps the occasional herd of cows strolling down from the Common. Serving delicious breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, and lunches, all the locally sourced food is prepared fresh daily; The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common (www.food-club.com/old-lodge.htm): The Old Lodge is beautifully located in the centre of Minchinhampton Common. With unrivalled views of the Cotswolds, this 400 year old hunting lodge is the perfect place to escape the rush. Enjoy quality, locally sourced food served in the restaurant, the bar area, one of the smaller dining rooms or al fresco in the spacious garden. The stunning restaurant accommodates parties of up to 85 people seated and has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto Minchinhampton Common. Minchinhampton also has an excellent butcher's shop and an organic cheese shop: L Taylor & Sons (www.taylorsminchinhampton.com): For nearly a century L Taylor and Sons has been supplying the highest quality meat to discerning customers. The quality of the shop has been recognised with a Cotswold Life Butcher of the year award; Woefuldane Organic Dairy (www.woefuldanedairy.co.uk): All the products are made by hand in the farm dairy in time honoured ways. The unpasteurised cheeses change throughout the seasons as the milk varies depending on what the cows are eating.

  • Had a lovely stay in Little Culver. All was as advertised - plenty of space for 5 people, very comfortable and stylish. Loved the original features of the house. Thoughtful touches like chocolates and biscuits on arrival were appreciated and the key safe made our arrival stress-free as travelling from London. Would definitely stay again if travelling to the Cotswolds.

  • A beautiful house In the quiet quintessential English village of Minchinhampton. We rocked up with 5 people and found there to be plenty of room for everyone. The Garden was well kept and a really chilled out place to hangout in the sunshine. No negative comments here! The one thing I would say is to bring cash with you because many of the local establishments don’t take cards.

  • Caroline and Simon’s place is lovely and comfortable and is in a beautiful location, with some incredible views. Getting there is straight forward thanks to the helpful directions sent before our arrival. When we arrived we were welcomed by Simon and the their two very friendly dogs. Simon also gave us some great suggestions of walks in the local area. Checking in and out is simple and straightforward. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the Cotswolds.

  • A lovely detached space above the owner's garage in a quiet, scenic valley. We agree with all the reviews- it was spotlessly clean. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, including breakfast items and some delicious snacks, as well as a basket full of maps and local guides. It was an easy drive to Stroud, Gloucester and many pretty villages. Some great local pubs- we particularly enjoyed meals at the Butcher's Arms; and we also had a fantastic lunch at The Hive in Stow-on-the-Wold. We managed to arrive on the first day of Storm Dennis, and can confirm Caroline and Simon are far enough up the valley to be flood-proof! Despite the storm we had a peaceful stay and were very cosy there.

  • Lovely loft, clean, quiet and nicely furnished. We felt very cosy and enjoyed all the local walks and visiting The Woolpack. Will definitely stay again!

    Jude2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's place is exactly what you want for a break from London. Full of walks and country side. The little bits of breakfast stuff Caroline provides is a real life saver and Simon was kind enough to drop us off at the train station on the day we checked out. It gets real dark on the country paths so it's great if you know what you are doing. Stroud has it's own character and culture of friendliness. The pubs and independent cafes are real gems and sadly you can start to see how the chains are replacing them so hurry up to Stroud before its too late!

    Cheryl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Superb cottage, in a great location for enjoyable cotswold country walking.

    Ian2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's cabin is set in the beautiful Slad Valley and provides a welcoming base to the incredibly scenic surroundings. The cabin is clean, airy and light, the bed and sofa comfortable and the DVD's provided a nice touch also. We had a lovely stay and found Caroline and Simon to be friendly, helpful and responsive whilst we took off for local walks. The Woolpack comes highly recommended for locally sourced food and ales and is within walking distance of the cabin, although a torch should be remembered if trekking back at night. Thoughtfully one was provided! We would highly recommend the cabin to anyone wanting to check out the natural beauty of the Cotswolds and seeking a secluded, but welcoming Airbnb. Thanks Caroline and Simon!

  • WOW. What a beautiful home. The photos do not do this place justice. Cosy and warm especially as the weather outside was so bad. Really felt like a home from home but better.

    Andrew2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Neil was a fantastic host. We had the best time time hiding away from storm Dennis snuggled up by the fire. The welcome hamper was so lovely and the cottage itself definetly did not disappoint. Thank you for a great stay.

  • This cottage was lovely, we could move in. So cosy and the decor was right up our street. Very clean and has everything you need for a short stay. Such beautiful surroundings and can't wait to go back in the summer. Thank you

  • Pictures don’t do this place justice. The cottage is beautiful and everything is so well thought out. Neil was on hand if anything was needed, gave suggestions on where to visit, and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. We didn’t want to leave! Would definitely visit again :)

Sunny, double room in a tall Victorian end of terrace. Perfect for those who want a cosy base right in the centre of Stroud. Breakfast is 'help yourself'. In a big busy, friendly, family, cosy home, with kids, 2 lodgers, cats and fish. Warm welcome assured
Small sunny double bedroom This room on the 3rd floor contains a 4ft 6" double bed, bedside shelves, a hanging rail, a corner desk with lamp and a stool. There is an eco radiator or fan depending on time of year. The shared bathroom is a half landing away with a bath, electric shower, loo and sink. There's another loo next door to the bathroom too. A breakfast of tea/coffee, cereal, toast and fruit juice is included in the price if you stay less than a week (you help yourself). If you're here longer then please provide your own food (our generous discount reflects this). You are welcome to use the kitchen for cooking. We have WIFI which you are welcome to use. The house is a large family and shared 'end of terrace Victorian' home. Its a mixture of classic, contemporary and growing children style. We have 3 cats, lots of fish, several children/young adults and lodgers. The house is by no means 'perfect' - guests can expect a clean and tidy room, with the rest of the house cleaned professionally weekly and kitchen/bathrooms attended to more often. We pride ourselves on a warm relaxed atmosphere for both family and guests which doesn't equate to minimalist immaculate surroundings. Please note there are lots of stairs, so the kitchen is in the basement and the bedroom is 3 floors above.. We're right in central Stroud, minutes from the station and all the shops and restaurants. Parking is available behind the house or on street in front of the house (visitors permit needed except in the evenings and on Sundays). We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Stroud is an 'alternative' town with interesting shops and cafes, alongside some of the usual high street shops. The countryside round about is particularly lovely and there are many walks that can be done from the house. We're ideally placed for the award winning Saturday farmers market, Stroud Subscription Rooms, Centre of Arts and Science and Lansdown Hall (all within 3-7 minutes walk).
  • Really lovely room and Natasha was really welcoming.

  • Nice and clean room, and Natasha is a super host. Highly recommended...

    Florian2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Natasha's house has a lovely lived-in feeling and is full of character and I loved looking at all her artwork on the walls. While there were several people in the house (as well as cats, fish and the newest addition to the family, a cute labradoodle puppy!), it is big enough for you to find a quiet space when you want it. The bedroom while small was adequate for my needs and the comfortable bed gave me a good night's sleep. The location of her house is great, only a minute's walk to the town centre on a fairly quiet road. Stroud is lovely with lots of quirky and creative shops to browse and lots of friendly people to help you on your way - a great community spirit!

Welcome to Grange Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Grange Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone cottage, which enjoys an idyllic rural location, with spectacular views across a valley to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Amberley, which although small, has two well regarded pubs. Amberley backs onto the National Trust common land of Minchinhampton Common, a unique 600 acre open space with far reaching views, which offers walking, kite flying and an 18-hole golf course. The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Grange Cottage is a large semi-detached Cotswold stone cottage, which sits on a steep slope at the top of a rural lane, and benefits from stunning views. The front door opens into the conservatory, which leads through to a well laid out ground floor area: Conservatory: This room enjoys lovely views over the garden to Woodchester and beyond, and has two wicker chairs; Living room: From the conservatory, a step leads into the characterful living room, which has an exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, oak beams, and alcove shelving with a selection of local books. There are two two-seater sofas, a small arm chair and a window seat that looks out over the valley. There is also a SMART TV with a DVD player; Reading room: The living room adjoins this pretty room, which has French doors opening out to the garden. There is a small writing bureau, two chairs and a hamper of games; Kitchen/dining room: Steps lead up from the living room to the kitchen, a spacious room with a wooden dining table and seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric oven, a six-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a hand blender; Utility room: A convenient space for boots and coats, which contains a washing machine/tumble dryer and a freezer; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first-floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with high ceilings and exposed oak beams, which contains a king size bed and fitted wardrobe, and has nice views of the woodland behind the cottage; Bedroom 2; This bright room enjoys a sunny aspect, with views across to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard, and contains a large single bed; Bedroom 3: Contains a day bed, which is made up as a single bed. The window seat is perfect for watching the sun set; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep spiral stairs, without a handrail, lead up from the first floor landing to: Bedroom 4: Another lovely eaves rooms, with exposed beams and panoramic views over the Woodchester Valley Vineyard and beyond. There is a double bed, fitted wardrobes and a free-standing flatscreen TV. The door to this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs and it is not possible to put a stair gate at the top of the stairs, so this room may not be suitable for young children. The main garden area is at the front of the cottage, enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, and is mostly laid to lawn, with traditionally planted cottage garden borders and a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There is a patio area outside the conservatory, with an outdoor table and seating for six, which provides spectacular views across the valley to Woodchester and benefits from glorious sunsets. A lockable shed is available upon request to store bikes and other outdoor equipment. Steps from the back door lead up to a gravelled parking area, with space for two cars.
  • A gorgeous cottage with lots of character and stunning views. We had a lovely cosy weekend with fires (make sure you pick up enough kindling from the local supermarket) and walks through the woods (wellies necessary!) to the pub, finished off with brunch in the well set up kitchen. Be prepared to climb a very steep hill if your car can’t make it up!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Cottage is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is a classic Cotswolds cottage with great views over the valley opposite. The location, while up a very steep hill, was excellent - - a short walk through the wood to the fantastic Amberley Inn - - and no issue with access with our car. The log burner was a welcome addition on the cold evenings we spent there.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your fabulous cottage. It was a beautiful warm, cosy and very clean property with views to die for! I cannot thank you enough for sending back our Google Chromecast so quickly after we left it behind in the property, it arrived in the post today. That is what I call a first class service! Funny thing was that we didn’t even need it as Netflix was already provided. I would like to highly recommend Character Cottages for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

    Sachin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had everything you could ask for - 4 beautiful bedrooms with lovely clean bed linen and comfortable beds. Fantastic views and a cosy log fire with idyllic walks around the area. It was very quiet and peaceful and just what we needed as four mums trying to get some relaxation time away from hectic lives and young children. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house located on a serene hill. Quaint details were added throughout the house which made the experience all the more wonderful. The place was super clean! The only downside is that it is located on a very steep hill & a bit too narrow & difficult to drive up. It was a very good stay regardless :)

    Maznan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Fantastic views. Cottage up a steep hill. Pleasant walks from the cottage. Low ceilings but that's to be expected when you consider when it was built.

    Mark2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant cottage, all as described! Even though it rained quite literally the ENTIRE stay, we didn’t really notice because the house was so nice and had everything we needed! Thank you!

  • If your looking for a quaint well appointed traditional English cottage go no further!! It’s right here! A spotlessly clean, charming, cosy, scenic, comfortable home away from home. This is a beautiful space with stunning views over the fields towards stroud. It is very simply decorated inside with lovely oak beams and staircase. There is also a wood burning stove for extra warmth in the winter months. From the outside it almost looks like a swiss chalet, and upstairs on the mezzanine floor you will find traditional Japanese Tatami mats and futon beds. There are currently no kitchen facilities apart from a kettle, fridge and microwave.
The Annexe is clad in beautiful Larch wood which gives it a lovely warm glowing look, the floor, doors and stairs are all warm wood too. The Tatami mats and Futon beds are genuine traditional Japanese pieces.
The surrounding area is great for walking and cycling, not far from the town of stroud too which has an award winning farmers market every Saturday which has amazing local produce. Stroud is nestled in the 5 valleys in the heart of the Cotswolds with beautiful countryside all round.
  • Such a lovely space! Beautifully decorated and very cozy. If you don't like a thinner, more firm mattress you may want to steer clear; personally I liked the traditional tatami mats.

    Hilary2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, peaceful space. It was a shame to only spend one night here but we had a great time. Love the Japanese theme!

  • This is a really great find. The flat is just perfect. You have everything you need, a really comfortable bed, great kitchen, lovely bathroom, and a really special view. It is sparkling clean. I have terrible animal and dust allergies and I was completely fine here. Luuk is a great host. Helpful and kind.

    Gemma2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely peaceful stay at Luuks place . It was a luxury to have everything we needed in our own little private home space . Sleep is vital to me as my health isnt great . I was SO pleased that the curtains blocked out a lot of light , the bed was comfortable and the area was really quiet and peaceful while being really short walk from the town centre . The views are stunning from the flat and i got a good sense of stroud and the surrounding countryside from staying there which was important to me .

    Rebecca2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great little flat. Everything we needed for a short stay. Really comfy bed as well.

    Victoria2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This little place is a real gem. The views from the apartment are breathtaking, and it is only about a 15 minute walk into town. Communication with Luuk was very easy and he was very responsive to our queries. Check-in was very smooth, and the space itself was sparkling clean and lovely. The water pressure in the shower was incredible! It also has a surprising little roof terrace, which we didn't use because of the weather. Location wise, the apartment is in a great spot - a couple of great pubs within a few minutes walk, fantastic views over the hills around Stroud, and a few minutes drive to a Waitrose supermarket (or a few more minutes walk if you aren't afraid of a few hills!). We had a really great time - thanks Luuk!

Lorry Lee is a stylish conversion of an old fashioned 7.5 ton horse box, in the heart of the Cotswolds. Free-standing full sized bath, king size bed, and great views. This is as good as camping in the woods gets, no electricity but hot water, plenty of candles and gas to cook on.
This romantic getaway has all you need for a weekend away or a short break. Less than 2 hours from London and an hour from Bristol. Lorry Lee is in the heart of the Cotswolds. At the head of the Slad valley, made famous by Laurie Lee's books, especially Cider with Rosie, this idyllic part of the world has changed little since his time. The walk to the Woolpack pub takes an hour and a half and takes you through an unspoilt valley with no houses or humans for the first hour. Or you can drive in 7 minutes. The cabin has hot and cold running water, NO ELECTRICITY, but plenty of candles and torches.
The Cotswolds are an internationally recognised Area of Outstanding Beauty and we are in the middle of it. Just a short walk from Lorry Lee is the top of the Slad Valley, made famous in the book Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and explorable via a network of well maintained and signposted paths and tracks. The Gloucestershire wildlife trust has marked a set of paths and routes to celebrate the centenary of the famous writer's birth and most importantly the valley leads you down hill all the way to the Laurie's local pub; The Woolpack. A local institution, The Woolpack is a fantastic local pub in the traditional sense. Good food, great beer, quality locals and the odd fiddly diddly band to get things going. Stroud Farmer's Market is regularly recognised as the best in the country and is open every Saturday from 9-2. It is well worth a visit for some great local produce.
  • Great place to stay! A lot more space than expected. Beautiful location with pubs nice walks away and a cool farmers market! Definitely would stay again, great peaceful experience.

  • The horse box is an ideal quiet getaway. Very secluded and peaceful, located in beautiful countryside surrounded by horses and chickens. Perfect for walks and exploring the Cotswolds. The horsebox is thoughtfully decorated. Especially love the bath with views of the countryside. Plenty of amenities for cooking inside and outside. Remember to bring biodegradable toiletries!

  • Brilliant stay in Sarah’s horsebox. The space was lovely and so unique, and the friendly chickens and dogs made our weekend. It was the perfect spot for exploring the area and we would definitely recommend it.

  • I booked Sarah’s place for a few days escape from a busy London life. It was beyond perfect and the surrounding areas are all stunning. I will defintely return in future for another relaxing break!

  • What a find! The perfect weekend retreat in a really lovely setting. The place is really comfortable and cosy, with an amazingly comfy bed and lovely big bath. We cooked on the hob, perfect for making a one pot meal and ate overlooking the fields. It's extremely relaxing and the views are lovely. There's a good farm fruit & veg shop nearby as well as a great garage shop that sells essentials, with a good choice of organic things too. There are lots of lovely walks nearby. You need to bring your own fire wood etc. but other than that, all is catered for! Thanks for a lovely, relaxing stay, perfect if you're escaping the city for the weekend!

    Helen2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful fully equip 'cabin' in a converted horse Lorry in the heart of nature in the Cotswolds. We absolutely loved our stay in this romantic setting. The surrounding walks are beautiful and picturesque. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing get away, this place is absolutely perfect. We would highly recommended Sarah's Lorry.

    Laura2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect cabin - exactly as described with everything you need- loads of pots and pans etc. We got the train from London and just a short cab to the cabin. Easy to bring all the food you need for one weekend and then cook on the gas stove. Comfy bed and excellent views out over the fields. Warm and cosy. If you want total peace away from everything then Sarah’s other cabin if even more secluded. This one is nearer family home/farm life and chickens - which provide good entertainment out the window too! Thank you!

  • Thanks for making us feel so welcome at your beautiful place. You provided everything that we needed and we really felt at home. Easy walking distance of Stroud centre just down the hill. Great living space, we cooked a lot in the kitchen and slept well in a comfortable bed. Plenty of toiletries provided! Easy driving distance of some amazing country walks - Cranham woods and Cleeve Hill were our highlights. We would recommend visiting Stroud brewery for local ales and Toni’s Kitchen for amazing vegetarian/vegan food. Would highly recommend staying at Alayne and Mac’s beautiful place who were excellent hosts and helped us with anything we needed. Thanks!

    Georgie2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the nicest AirBnBs I've stayed it. It was really comfy, tidy and has pretty much everything you could need. Alayne is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed.

    Owen2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We just came back from there and Alayne's place is amazing...would go back any time...It is very clean, modern and all you need is provided...Would highly recomend the place for anyone who wants a nice and quiet place to relax and explore the surroundings...

    Simona2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fort Lee was the ideal location to explore the surrounding area, with the interesting towns nearby as well as a fantastic morning walk across Rodborough Common as recommended by Alayne and Mac. The space was immaculately clean and incredibly thoughtful in design with homely touches. Alayne and Mac were considerate, helpful, and incredibly friendly hosts, meaning we had a comfortable and very enjoyable special festive getaway. We would definitely like to return when we are next visiting the Cotswolds :) thank you again!

Any visitor to Stroud really needs to visit the Farmers Market on Saturday morning for takeaway food/ food stalls. Its been voted the best local market in the UK. Stroud is very much the country version of alternative places such as Camden or Shoreditch- it’s a quirky, quixotic, bohemian town with very strong community roots and local free trade shops including art and vintage shops. It has a HUGE amount of artists living in and around the environs. It was voted as one of Britains best places to live in a recent Sunday times article. Stroud is indeed, incredibly special and definitely embodies the hidden bohemian more authentic experience of the Cotswolds. There are always festivals or events, from literature, art to theatre taking place throughout the year. The many mills are part of Stroud’s Industrial Past and house a bustle of workspace sharing co-operatives, artists studios, vintage shops, upholstery and jewellery making workshops. Many guests visit to take part in these workshops to experience this rich arts and crafts heritage. A short 10 minute walk from the house is a wonderfully authentic real ale typically British pub called ‘The Crown and Sceptre’- call in for a great Sunday roast. Other notable nearby establishments to visit are The Subscription Rooms, Giffords Circus, Westonbirt Arboretum, Stroud Valley Artspace, Pangolin Gallery, Hawkwood College (for workshops). Minchinhampton Common is a beautiful common ground area where cattle roam freely across the roads and amongst golfers There are many walks right from the doorway of the house. The Heavens is one beautiful area to explore as is the Stroud micro Brewery Walks to Rodborough Common across the Valley with great views of the river Severn and Wales and a visit to Winstones Ice Cream factory is a must. The Cotswold Way is near by, as are walks to Slad to visit the Woolpack, frequented by the famous author Laurie Lee. For those requiring a flatter walk – take in the beautifully restored Cotswold Canals with access from the towpath to unique pubs and cafes. Painswick, the queen of the Cotswolds, Tetbury, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol are also definitely worth a visit and are all within easy driving distance from Stroud.
  • Abi’s place is as lovely as she is, a natural host she makes you welcome from the minute you arrive and provides everything you need in her stylish home. I feel I made a friend as well as a regular place to stay in Bohemian Stroud!

    Lesley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Abi is amazing- so kind and helpful. I had booked last minute for a lady in distress who turned out to have a lot of problems but Abi offered a safe haven, wonderful deep bath with endless bubbles and popped out to the shop specially to buy her favourite cereal. The place is comfortable and welcoming and of course Berkeley the basset hound is totally adorable!

    Hege2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely modern house with old touches. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Abi was a great host - she is highly enthuasiastic about Stroud and the town surprised us with how much it had going on! She had lots of tips on places to visit and had really thought through the extra touches in the room. Nice location with views into the surrounding valley. Plenty to explore in Stroud and the surrounding area. Thank you for a great stay!

    Joseph2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house! Very airy and spacious on a quiet road! Exactly what we needed coming from busy London! Abi has been very helpful and hands on from the beginning of booking, very prompt replies and in great detail! She also provides toiletries and towels as well as some breakfast options, note they are sourced from local farmers, that jam with toast was absolute delight! The house is located up to 20min by walk from Stroud town centre, with markets on hand and also bars and restaurants for the evening. Abi gave us some great local recommendations! Bed is super comfortable and house is very very clean, she also has a lovely and very friendly dog (he never barks) that is more than eager to play :)! Great weekend away and I would definitely recommend staying at Abi's place.

    Ausra2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Abi is a wonderful host. From detailed instructions for locating her place to flexible checking in, she goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome. The house is spacious, tastefully decorated, and has all the amenities one can ask for. Abi adds a personal touch to the room providing tea/coffee, candies, and even wine. The surroundings are picturesque and it's a perfect retreat for those looking to get away from the bustle of city life. An added bonus is Abi's vast knowledge of the area and her willingness to guide her guests. We will cherish the conversations we had with her. Best wishes, Rashmi and Arnab

In the centre of beautiful Minchinhampton, this detached cosy cottage is open plan in design and tastefully renovated throughout with plenty of modern conveniences. Set in a quiet pretty garden, and with on site parking + Type 2 EV charger, this is a great getaway. CORVID19 means The Crown Inn is now a take away, just up the road, The Chip Shed across the street is highly recommended. Or you can cook and then relax in a comfy sofa to curl up with a book/TV/DVD, after walking the Cotswolds Way
The Coach House is a beautifully converted 16th century stables with modern open plan living embedded in a classic Cotswold cottage garden setting. We are in the centre of the charming village of Minchinhampton with its beautiful church with quirky crown capped spire and Cotswold stone as far as the eye can see. Arriving by car or train we can assist with on site parking or "Tesla taxi" service from Stroud station. After entering via a well gravelled path, with a courtyard style seating area, fine weather affords a beautiful al fresco table adjacent to your front door and looks onto the raised bed paved garden with a hammock available for watching the sun setting through the beech trees. Too breezy? you are welcome to enjoy a glass inside our conservatory, which catches the evening sun, (like the garden, this space is shared with us in the main house) .
The Old Swan Coach House is in the middle of the picturesque village of Minchinhampton. Visitors are generally delighted by the established Cotswold village feel, (this is an organically grown village, not a 2nd home centre) and its location for walks and the wider area attractions is considered a massive selling point. It is perhaps why Princess Anne chose the adjacent Gatcombe estate for her wonderful residence. Minchinhampton Common is a few minutes walk and provides a wonderful "big sky" airy clean open space for an early morning or evening walk. During the summer months it also supplies a procession of cows, some of which may occasionally wander past the house and up the high street. The common offers a wonderful, 130 years established, golf course that gives you the chance to observe skylarks, Adonis Blue butterflies, and a range of orchids on this ancient National Trust meadow land. I am a lapsed member and enjoyed the views and the natural hazards in equal measure. It is open to visitors and affords a kind of inland links course with no sand but plenty of natural hazards. https://minchinhamptonoldcourse.intelligentgolf.co.uk A visit to the common often includes sampling the delicious Winstones Ice cream that is made right there on the edge, just near the Bear of Rodborough "chicane". Nearby Stroud offers the award winning Farmer's Market every Saturday and a range of quirky "Stroudy" shops and people watching opportunities. Until November 2019 the Crown, Minchinhampton's only central pub was closed for 6 years and eating places required a drive for evening meals. Since November 8th the new owners, the Lucky Onion group, offer excellent dining and a welcoming pub. This is now a busy godsend to locals and visitors alike. Currently for the Crown, every night and lunch, and for most other restaurants within nearby range, for the busier weekends of the year, booking is mostly required. (Advice on request). Henry's Cafe and Peter and Assumpta's The Kitchen are in friendly competition for great local cafe coffee and light bites - both a very short walk from us in the high street. The Church is active and well liked, it has been recently reordered with underfloor heating and much more, and has an active bell ringing team. Practice is on Friday evenings starting at 8:00 and the Bells are quite likely to wake those sleeping in on a Sunday morning. Cheltenham racecourse being reasonably nearby, booking for Festival week (2nd week of March) needs good advance planning. Our local version of smart pricing applies. Minchinhampton is possibly most well known for the residence of Princess Anne whose annual Festival of Eventing in August https://www.festivalofbritisheventing.com/ attracts visitors from far and wide to Gatcombe. Around that time Minchinhampton hosts, longer than anywhere else, the marvellous Giffords Circus. It has been featured on the list of 50 things you must see before you die and brings crowds from miles around to the big top on the common. https://www.giffordscircus.com/ The National Trust owned Common is famous for its rare breed cows grazing from April to November and the beautiful "big sky" walks are a home to many a high flying skylark and the rare Adonis butterfly. The 130 year old Golf Club and the Old Lodge are popular spots situated in the middle of the common - all our local pubs are welcoming and worth a visit. Also visible throughout the year are gliders from the two astonishingly close local clubs, http://www.cotswoldgliding.co.uk/holiday_courses (where I learned to fly) and https://bggc.co.uk/ The views over the Cotswold edge can be stunning and the costs much lower than most imagine. (trial flights start from £95) From the Cirencester road to Minch, as you turn in to Aston Down airfield is "Jolly Nice" a fast growing organic shop and eatery that now occupies three yurts. The ice cream is superb and the speciality delicatessen has the best quality produce and fantastic gifts (at a price!) https://jollynicefarmshop.com/ Westonbirt Arboretum is a popular all year round visitor attraction just 9 miles to the south of us. Every Saturday the lively alternative scene that is Stroud Town hosts the oldest established Farmer's market, just 4 miles down in the valley. It is also a centre for every type of artist and alternative health practitioner.
  • I had a lovely time staying at Patrick and Katrina's cottage. The cottage is very homely with all the amenities guests require provided i.e. shampoo, conditioner, tea, coffee etc. The cottage was very clean and warm and a good base for driving to do walks around the Cotswolds in the daytime. I would highly recommend staying here!

The Summerhouse is a detached stone cottage, situated in a stunning hillside location, set within it's own large private garden. Wooden french doors and sliding sash windows overlook the beautiful cotswold valley. There is a beautiful double bedroom with it's own balcony , an openplan lounge and kitchen diner with woodburner. It is positioned down a small quiet rural country lane with wonderful walks and a country pub on your doorstep.
The cottage is very light and airy but retains a cosy traditional feel with exposed cotswold stone walls , the wood burner and sliding sash windows. The beautiful garden has it's own little orchard and raised vegetable beds. Guests can help themselves to the fruit and vegetables in the garden. The south facing garden and terrace has many sitting areas to enjoy the stunning views The cottage has it's own wireless broadroad band and a selection of dvds, books, board games and even vinyl records if you fancy staying in.
The location is a great base to explore the cotswolds , by car you are 10 minutes from Stroud , 15 minutes from Cirencester and 25 minutes from Cheltenham. The beautiful villages of Minchinhampton, Bisley, Painswick, Tetbury and Nailsworth and Bibury are all only a short drive away. On your door step are local village pubs , and beautiful country walks where you can explore the valley. There is a Tesco Express in Bussage and village shops in Chalford and Eastcombe. Chalford Hill has a Fish & Chip Shop as well as a Garage/Petrol Station.
  • Jen came out to greet us on arrival and asked if there was anything extra we wanted even though there was a keybox to let ourselves in. She has a beautiful holiday home and in this instance the pictures behold the truth! Peaceful, cosy and relaxing. Everything you could want is in this accommodation. It’s clean, everything works and things are set out perfectly. The views and scenery during our local hike were wonderful. Being able to shut out the BIG city and be in a private environment was important for us and Jen’s place made our time away together very special, thank you Jen.

  • Had a great stay here! Peaceful location with amazing views, so cosy and relaxed - would definitely stay here again

  • The Summerhouse is a stunning place for a calm, relaxing break. We stayed for two nights and felt so at home, and wished we were staying longer. The place was immaculate on arrival and we loved that the guestbook had great advice on things to do/places to eat, and also the board games in the property too. On Jen's advice we went to Cirencester on our first day - really beautiful town - and had a delicious lunch at The Fleece Inn. We also had a great meal at The Lamb Inn nearby to the Summerhouse, and enjoyed a walk at Haresfield Beacon. We loved the stay and would definitely visit again.

Such a beautiful part of the world with fantastic views from the veranda area. Walkable distance to a local pub. Also supermarkets, more pubs and a little town a short driving distance. Jen was incredibly easy to contact and ask questions and made our stay very welcoming and comfortable.

  • Lovely house near Stroud and the beautiful  countryside. Easy to find. Clean, spotless, neat and quiet!!!!  Heating system and hot water awesome, a pleasure arriving home after driving around on winter.  Located in a strategic zone to explore the entire Cotswolds. Maximum 1 hour driving to the farthest town of this area.  Bread and milk at arriving and thanks for letting us check in earlier just to arrive home with light. It has all kinds of elements that make it a complete house.  100% recommended. We will come back soon for sure!!!!!!

  • We loved our stay here. It was really cosy with lovely underfloor heating. It had everything we needed for a New Year getaway. We cooked a couple of meals: the oven was good and a double hob and decent-sized kitchen was handy. There’s a pub virtually at the end of the drive, and a corner shop open until 9pm. We can also recommend the Jolly Fryer chippy half a mile away!

  • The Cedars Retreat is a lovely, comfortable and independent apartment for staying in the Cotswolds. Karen is very responsive and has made a very welcoming place to stay. The apartment is clean, has just about everything you’d need and the location is great too. I highly recommend staying here.

The Loft at The Retreat is a lovely unique and OFF GRID space in a stunning location. If you're not put off by it's low ceiling and minimal electricity (we use solar power for lighting/phone charging and have a portable DVD player which guests can use) Our shower is an outdoor shower with hot water and the toilet is a compost loo. The kitchen is a basic outdoor set up and guests are welcome to dine at our Viking inspired long table. Guests are also welcome to use our pizza oven and BBQ.
Whether it's Roman Cirencester or Bohemian Stroud, riding stables or glider experiences, quiet walks or just a chance to escape that you're after, there's something for everyone here. The loft is on our campsite which can site 6 tents so you may end up sharing the site with other people and dogs. We don't allow children under 12 and sorry no dogs allowed in the loft. There is a train track which runs along side our site so please expect to hear the sound of trains every so often.
We are situated between two fantastic typical country pubs so if you fancy locally sourced food and beer it's just a short walk along farm tracks and along an old canal path. The village shop is a 30 minute stroll through fields with stunning views (it doesn't take everyone as long but the views can be distracting) Carry a camera at ALL times and if you're anything like me a memory card to help store all the photos I'm sure you will take. The wildlife/valley/weather all create the most amazing photographs. Don't forget to make time for a trip to the Winstone's ice cream factory, a tiny ice cream shop in the middle of the common.
  • We absolutely loved our stay with Izzy & Gareth. Not only were they the most amazing hosts, super attentive and just really lovely, but we've come away with two new friends that we're looking forward to seeing again. The location is phenomenal, the views are everything and this off-grid spot is the perfect spot to get away from it all and restore the soul with some beautiful nature and good company. The loft is a super cosy spot, with a really comfy bed, nice warm duvets and being able to hear trees whooshing around is lovely. And for anyone still wanting their bit of tech, theres a battery pack, DVD player, so know your comforts are catered for too. The kitchen area is amazing, the views you can take it in whilst cooking away and dining are something else. You've got plenty of choice too, a BBQ, stoves and a pizza oven. And your hosts are just everything you could ask for, we enjoyed spending our evening and morning chatting away for hours and getting some insights into off-grid living and Izzy and Gareth took the time to show us around, show us the nuts and bolts of their space and give us lots of tips too for starting our own venture. We can't thank them enough for inviting us into their home and sharing it with us! Can't wait to visit again :)

    Sinead2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful spot, we had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous place. Lovely cosy bed, and such a beautiful area to cook in. We already can't wait to get back there :) hosts are so very friendly and helpful too. Thank you so much

  • Izzy, Gareth and their puppy Bandit were perfect hosts and have a really beautiful location for their property. It was easy to find with the directions given. There were plenty of duvets and blankets provided so we had a good sleep. Thanks for having us!

  • Lzzy and her partner are really nice people. They are very kind and hospitable . Before we arrived, lzzy had already waited us on the roadside and guided us the direction. Once you arrived the lovely cabin ,bendit(I dont know if I spell it correct),such a clever and cute dog l have never seem would give you a big hug that was quite impressive and made us feel so welcomed. There were many things I was fascinated. The whole view unexpected in such a beautiful valley. well-shaped horses raised by lzzy and it is very nice of lzzy to bring them there and let me touch them and fed them. It is magic that living in this cabin sends me back to the nature and let me get a release from hectic urban life. Thanks them again and wish I could come back one day

  • A blissfully remote, off-grid spot tucked away in the heart of beautiful countryside. There's no mains electricity, wifi or running water, but this just adds to the charm - and there's still solar power, a shower and 4G hotspot for those desiring a few home 'comforts'. Lots of lovely little homely touches in the accommodation, and the bed was wonderfully comfy with crisp cotton sheets - I awoke to birdsong and sunlight dappling through the wooden slats. Lovely! Izzy and her partner were also brilliant hosts, lending me a bike helmet and liberally sharing their whisky, which was just what the doctor ordered. Just one thing to note: the ceiling is quite low in the bedroom, so you can't quite stand up properly - this was fine for me, but worth noting just in case you have mobility issues. A definite 5/5.

    Rebecca2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location was beautiful, amazing views all around. The room was perfect, a comfortable bed, and a real homely feel to it.

Welcome to my flat in Stroud town centre! We are opposite the train station and the bustling town where you have all the local shops and services on your doorstep. The room is nicely lit and very quiet in spite of being so central as we are on the top floor of the apartment building. The studio lounge/kitchen is comfortable and warm and you are welcome to use the utilities such as tv and wifi..
I have a two bedroom flat with one bathroom and a studio kitchen/lounge.
  • Chris's flat is clean, quiet, safe, and very convenient if you would like to visit Stroud and the surrounding Cotswold region. Although it is within a few yards if the railway station and located in the centre of the village, it is set back from the street perfectly so that there is no noise whatsoever. The one large bedroom and adjoining bathroom were perfectly clean and the shower itself was hot, strong and really good after as long day out. His living/kitchen has all that you need to make a quick meal though there are also many little cafes and restaurants nearby - an advantage of being in the centre of town. Your accommodation is a single storey extension, to the side of my home, which I have completely modernised and refurbished. You have your own entrance via the back garden and the guest area is locked off from the rest of the house, to ensure guests' privacy. Self service breakfast of cereals and milk available plus tea and coffee facilities in your kitchenette. Own fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster, washing machine. Shared garden and patio with table and chairs.
This little guest suite consists of a double bedroom with double bed (mattress is memory foam, medium firm), laptop desk and clothes hanging rail and drawers. You also have your own kitchenette containing fridge with ice box, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere and crockery etc. There is also a washing machine you are welcome to use. Finally, you have your own newly fitted shower room with large shower, basin and toilet. Please note: I have made the additional guest option available at a surcharge of £10/night. Please note that the kitchenette only has a small breakfast bar and stool to seat one person. The accomodation is therefore only really suitable for two people if you just want a place to sleep.
We live in a quiet, residential area surrounded by a wealth of footpaths which lead you through fields with wonderful views. You can walk into Stroud via various shortcuts, or up the hill into the village of Whiteshill where you will find a lovely pub called The Star and also a village shop (commuity run). Stroud itself is famous for it's Saturday morning farmers market and it's arty, crafty vibe with plenty happening in the local area and a good selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes. The Cotswold Way is, of course, also on the doorstep.

  • Really rather lovely place, very cosy and a perfect place to spend a couple of nights on our honeymoon. We had a great walk thanks to the useful walking tips and map left by the host and staying in by the wood burner was just as much of a pleasure :) Great kitchen and amenities too Highly recommend for a cosy, peaceful getaway.

Set in a fantastic village high in the Cotswolds, we are the perfect location for enjoying this Area of Outstanding National Beauty. Recently refurbished, this old wool workers cottage preserves all that is traditional in a Cotswold's cottage.
Our holiday home is set high in the "Cotswolds" in the picturesque village of Bisley. The cottage is set at the end of a Row of woolworkers cottages built in the early 19th Century and is one of the sunniest in Bisley with lovely country garden overlooking the village. The garden is fitted out for eating or relaxing outdoors. Two pubs and a local shop are minutes away and From your door are many lovely walks that take you into some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Read the reviews, our guests love it! The attractions of the Cotswolds are many. Nearby are the roots of the Arts and Crafts movement. Laurie Lee's haunts are in the next valley and the area is dotted with great pubs to suit all tastes. Beautiful villages (each invariably with a great pub) are linked by loads of walks in beautiful countryside. Come back home to a log fire and make tea on the Rayburn to enjoy in the cosy conservatory. Whether its a relaxing break away from the city or a base for or a longer holiday..this is the spot!
The pretty village is typical of the Cotswolds. It has conservation status and is a prime example of local architecture built over the past 500 years. Great walks are in all directions, no need to use a car. Further afield are many great towns, villages, churches and gardens. The village shop and two fantastic pubs are a few minutes walk away. The nearby 'Greenshop" is nationally famous for its huge range of 'green ' products and the Farm shop is a bonus for us all. The surrounding countryside is famous for being some of the most beautiful in the UK. Neighbours and villagers are very friendly and lots goes on in the village. The shop and The church are central. In addition, there are fetes, 'Big Breakfasts', movies ("Flicks in the Sticks") and the two pubs of course. Nearby Stroud has an award winning Saturday morning market..not to be missed!
  • Bill and Anthea are the perfect hosts, they made certain that we knew how to get to the cottage, checked we had arrived safely and gave us plenty of information and guidance. The cottage itself is everything you would expect and require and is the ideal base to explore the Cotswolds. The cottage is idyllic and quaint whilst also having everything you need. The garden is beautiful and very well maintained. The village of Bisley is small but has a village shop and the nearest pub, The Stirrup Cup served us with outstanding food and hospitality for the 4 nights we stayed. We can't recommend the whole package of the cottage, the pub, the village and the area enough.

    Neil2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in this beautiful cottage in the picturesque village of Bisley was everything we hoped to find in the Cotswolds to end our stay in the UK. Anthea and Bill have a beautiful home with comfortable beds and all the amenities we would need. One of my favorite things was the beautiful flowers in the bedrooms with beautiful bedding and the home smelled so good. The home has gorgeous and well kept gardens including a comfortable bench we spent time on reading and listening to the sounds of this lovely village. The home is conveniently located, has perfect views, has lots of outdoor room, and was quiet - well except for the calming sounds of happy birds. The view of the full moon out of the bedroom window was matched only by the view of the church from the second bedroom. We visited only one of the two the local pubs called The Bear because we felt instantly welcomed and at home and didn't want to go anywhere else. We experienced the legendary welcome of the locals who helped us at every turn and were very understanding of our silly questions. The charm of the Cotswolds was indeed found here. Thank you Anthea and Bill. I will forever remember our time in your lovely home.

  • Bill and Anthea's darling Cotswold cottage was the perfect ending to our family's holiday. Bill was a darling and even surprised us at St. Pancras station to welcome us to the UK! What a fantastic introduction to British hospitality!! The entirety of our stay at their home in Bisley was absolutely fantastic. We adored the glorious garden and watching our 16-month old daughter run about on the lawn chasing birds and smelling their roses. The charming conservatory hosted much of our down time as we were able to thoroughly enjoy the lovely outdoors even during our first day, which proved a bit dodgy weather wise. The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable, the fireplace lovely in the evening, and the washing machine extremely efficient. Bill and Anthea even provided us with delicious gluten free bread, milk for the baby, coffee and tea, and a high chair in addition to a full stack of brochures for the area. Their house book contained enough detailed information for the property and surrounding area to win my OCD heart over as well. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this darling couple and their brilliant home. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories!!!!!

  • My friends and I were staying in Bisley for a friends wedding and staying so closeby was a godsend! It's such a beautiful location and property, perfect for any goings on in the village. Bill & Anthea were great to communicate with and made everything so easy for us from arrival, during our stay and departure. Highly recommended.

    Oliver2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Anthea's place in Bisley is an absolute delight: unique, charming, beautiful. I can't recommend it highly enough. I was there for a writing retreat and it was the perfect place. Bisley is a classic Cotswold village with great countryside to explore all around it. Bill and Anthea were very responsive and very helpful. Already looking forward to my return!

    Brian2016-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place to stay, my parents loved it! Pub within walking distance and various attractions nearby! Anthea and Bill were the perfect hosts, fantastic communications and available if needed. Thank you!

    Dave2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed outstanding and excellent communication with Bill and Anthea during the entire process. Our stay was absolutely lovely and cottage could not have been nicer. This was our seventh week (and seventh holiday let) in Britain during our 13 week holiday and the cottage was our favorite. The kitchen was equipped brilliantly. Ann now wants to purchase an Aga! When it was cloudy and rainy we enjoyed the warm, bright solarium. When the sun was shining, the backyard garden was exceptionally lovely. We particularly enjoyed the cottage library. As much as we love going out to hike and explore, it was sometimes difficult to tear ourselves away from the brilliant array books in the various libraries located throughout the cottage. We took wonderful hikes all around the area and walked to the greengrocer farmer nearly every day. We were on a first name basis with Kevin and Claire, proprietors of the post office. Hiking/exploring was exceptional in Slad Valley, Chalford, Cirencester, and Painswick. Bill and Anthea, "Thank you so much for sharing your lovely cottage with us!"

    William2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived with a welcoming message that included, "...everything is somewhere." That was certainly true in using the cottage every day. The Pros ******** Beautiful location and village. The weather was great too. Nice garden/yard at the front of the property. Nice clean sheets, bed and towels. Bill and Anthea were very nice and easy to communicate with Any questions were dealt with in a timely manner. The House manual and guide-book make Anthea and Bill Superior hosts! Spectacular Postcard view from the top floor bedroom Nice very quiet village church bell sounding in the background - becomes more apparent at night The Cons ********** So much stuff - refer back to the everything is somewhere. Stairs are difficult to navigate and will cause problems for tall, v. young and old people. Couldn't find things quickly because of the collection of stuff. Be careful that the mountains of books don't fall and hit you on your head! The Rayburn - did not use it as we didn't want to wait 20 minutes before we could start to cook - microwave took its place. Conservatory was very hot - this was due in part to the hot weather we experienced during our stay. Some doors would not lock from the inside like the cloakroom door. Limited on-street parking from a distance (can be dangerous). Rear of properties - very much need some landscaping attention - knee high grass/weeds.

  • We had a great, peaceful stay here, within easy reach from the centre of Stroud and even walkable to Slad and the famous Woolpack Inn. Oana was a super host and there is a great attention to detail in the flat.

    Ivan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Stefan and Oana’s place. We didn’t have a car so Oana came and met us at the train station when we first arrived and walked us to the flat (about ten mins walk). The flat itself is small and cosy but not cramped - comfy beds and nice hot shower, little kitchen area with everything you need and a smart TV if you want to watch a movie or listen to music. We had lots of treats and snacks left out for us too :) Stroud is a great place for exploring the area and I would recommend spending a day walking around Slad Valley (following The Laurie Lee route for fans) as suggested by Oana - it was a lovely day. Thank you for having us! Chloe and Nick

The Retreat is situated on Woodchester Valley Vineyard in the Cotswolds, close to Stroud and 1 mile from Nailsworth town with many restaurants, walks, shops and supermarkets. It offers spacious accommodation with stunning views over the valley, a fully equipped kitchen, log burners in both the kitchen and sitting rooms as well as the full sky TV package in 2 separate rooms. As this is adjacent to a working vineyard, regrettably no children under the age of 12 can be accommodated.
The master bedroom offers a super king size bed which can be made into twin beds upon request.
We are located 1.5 miles from the bustling town of Nailsworth, which has an abundance of restaurants, cafés and pubs for breakfast, brunch and dinner options. We are 3.5 miles from the market town of Stroud which boasts one of the best farmers markets in the country every Saturday. The spa towns of Cheltenham and Bath are within 45 minutes, and the area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and those looking for a base from which to explore the South Cotswolds.
  • We had such a wonderful stay here. Although there are only two bedrooms the communal space feels like the house is much larger. There are gorgeous log burners and the house is lovely and warm. We stayed for Christmas and the host had set up a beautiful Christmas tree with lights for us, and couldn't have been more helpful with various changes and questions we had in the run up. Thanks to you all and we hope to come again this year!

  • A beutiful house with outstanding views. Well equiped, cozy and clean.

  • Had a fantastic stay at the retreat. A beautiful house with lovely views. It was incredibly spacious for just 4 people. The bathrooms and bedrooms are beautifully appointed with large showers and baths. Great enclosed garden for our little dog and also big garden out the front to enjoy. You are literally staying within the vineyards. We did the wine tasting tour at the vineyard, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Woodchester valley wines were superb! The tasting room is next door to the property. There are some great pubs nearby but not within walking distance. A lovely place to stay if you like wine and want a relaxing time! Highly recommend!

  • Fantastic location, incredible views, great facilities and space. A very quiet and secluded house in a stunning location, with amazing views across the valley. Tremendously peaceful and restorative.

  • This place has the wow factor. The pictures don’t do it justice. The living room and kitchen are both huge and are great entertaining spaces. The kitchen and the living room both open out onto the front garden and drive which was perfect as the weather was so good when we visited! The bedrooms were a great size and exactly what we needed. It is a tad steep if you’re walking up, but it was generally fine and if you can’t be bothered with that then the local taxis were more than happy to take us home. The view over the hills is also fantastic - such a nice view to wake up to. Highly recommended. Gail was really helpful in the lead up to our visit and throughout!

  • Pictures don’t do this home justice. It is beautiful, luxurious and relaxing. Just what we needed for our home base while walking the Cotswolds way.

  • Myself and my puppy, Ziggy stayed in The Old Greenhouse for 5 days and had a wonderful stay. It is cosy, warm and homely and extremely well equipped for a very comfortable stay. Spacious inside and out, with a private decked area. The bed was warm and comfy with crisp, white linen. The Prosecco and other provisions were most welcoming! The Sky TV was great to watch in the evenings after super walks within the local area. Andrew is a great host and met us personally and made us feel very welcome. I can highly recommend for a cosy gettaway.

Situated in a beautiful Cotswold Hamlet recently refurbished room in the idyllic/picturesque Hamlet of Bournes Green nestled in the heart of the beautiful five valleys, the undiscovered hidden gem of the Cotswolds.
An area of Outstanding natural beauty brimming with things to do, from great walks, cosy pubs, history, culture and an incredible variety of great places to eat and drink. Jane and her husband Tony are always happy to help with local knowledge of the area.
There are two charming and very friendly country pubs within easy walking distance both offering very good food.

Quiet, secluded location very close to the centre of Stroud. 5 minutes walk to railway station with links to Cheltenham, Bath, Bristol, London. Many interesting cafes, restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance in addition to a major supermarket and a local convenience store. Not to be missed is the Saturday Farmers' Market, the first of its kind in Britain and only a few minutes walk away. We enjoy meeting people from all over the world as we ourselves are well travelled.
The double bedroom is on the first floor of our split level, modern detached property and is situated next to the bathroom which is yours to use exclusively. If there are 3 people travelling together ( 3 adults or 2 adults and a child over 5) then we are happy to make a second single room available at an additional cost. This is next to the double room and you would all have use of the same bathroom. There are beautiful views from both rooms along one of Stroud's Five Valleys and across to Rodborough Fort which is situated on the edge of National Trust common land. The bed is suitable for one or two adults. We can also accommodate a baby of up to eighteen months in a travel cot in the same room. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room. We are a non-smoking household. Breakfast is provided in the form of tea, coffee, orange juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, home-made muffins and bread etc. Advance notice of any allergies is required.
As well as being close to the town centre we are also a 5 minute walk from the beautifully restored Cotswold Canals. The towpath gives you access to a variety of unique pubs and cafes.
  • We had a lovely stay. Chris and Richard were very friendly, hospitable and generous hosts. We enjoyed chatting to them about the local area and felt very at home in their house. Great communication too. And the house is in a great location, just a short walk into central Stroud, the farmers market and walks along the canal.

    Juliette2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Chris and Richard are great hosts. A warm welcome, clean comfy room, a home from home. Chris’s homemade bread and muffins made breakfast a real treat!

  • What was there not to like about a perfect stay at this great location?!! We were visiting family in Stroud who were unable to accommodate us, and this place was just perfect for us to stay over. Christine was very welcoming and a great host throughout our stay. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable; this combined with the quiet neighbourhood, meant we all had a great night’s sleep. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house and for the wonderful breakfast in the morning (especially the scrumptious toast made from your superb homemade bread). We would definitely recommend staying here and will hopefully get chance to return sometime soon. Thanks again.

    Mark2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A comfy space with lovely views. Christine was super helpful with directions and very quick at replying to my messages. We were only there for one night due a nearby wedding, but Chris was super accommodating. Would stay again

A stylish Cotswold cottage. Fully equipped. The lovely master bedroom has French doors overlooking Cotswold countryside and enjoys the morning sun. The bedroom opens onto a spacious luxury en-suite bathroom with large shower and separate bath. There are two further bedrooms, one of which has an en suite shower room. Downstairs is open plan with a fully equipped, hand-built kitchen with granite top, limestone flooring, dining and living space. Lovely gardens. Parking. Wifi. Full central heating.
The Cottage is attached to our large Cotswold house. It is completely separate and self contained. The whole garden is open so the cottage garden is not completely private. There is parking for two cars. The main bedroom faces east and gets the morning sun whilst the house faces south. There is a large circular patio to the front with an outside table and chairs. Downstairs the kitchen, living and dining area are a shared space. There is wifi, a large TV and access to Netflix. The Cottage is fully equipped with cooking equipment, utensils and crockery/cutlery in a beautiful hand made kitchen and granite worktop. There is also a built in dishwasher, fridge and washer dryer. And an espresso machine. The circular table can be extended with a centre leaf and there are two extra chairs. There is an iron, ironing board and cordless vacuum cleaner. If you feel you can't kick the habit. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have ensuite bathrooms. Two upstairs and one downstairs. The ensuite bathroom to the main bedroom is large, with a freestanding bath and large rain shower. This bathroom is shared with the single bedroom; there are two doors both of which can be locked. Downstairs there is another bedroom with an ensuite shower room.
Chalford Hill is on the south Cotswold top. As the name suggests we are at the southern edge of the Cotswold Hills and slightly off the beaten track; the Stroud valleys are the undiscovered gem of Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. This is an area with deep valleys, steep hills, lush countryside, beautiful villages and many outstanding pubs! There is a park opposite the cottage with play areas and adult exercise machines. There are great walks and cycle rides from our front gate and don't forget to have afternoon tea at the Lavender BakeHouse!! There's a Vue Cinema in Stroud with regular NT Live performances. Convenience stores close by (5 minutes by car): Tesco express Chemist/pharmacy Chinese takeaway Fish and chips Petrol station Playground/park (right opposite entrance to the house) Last, but not least, there's a Waitrose in Cirencester (15 minutes) and one in Stroud (10 minutes). So all is well.
  • Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful location. Homemade bread is a lovely touch.

    Daniel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Carrie’s cottage is stunning and in a beautiful location. We did one of her recommended walks (very comprehensive guide book) and the cottage is within easy walking distance of two country pubs. My mum and dad also loved it and are going to book again soon. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us.

    Emily2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless, homely, well equipped and fabulous hosts. Nice modern fittings and bathrooms, everything a small family, couple or group of friends would need. Nothing too much trouble, nothing too much trouble for Carrie and her husband. Lovely stay.

    Stuart2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our favorite Airbnb in England. The cottage was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The freshly baked bread was a special treat!

    Sharon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay, cosy cottage. Really friendly hosts who reply quickly and very easy to find the directions bring you straight to the door. Greeted to fresh baked bread and fresh flowers was lovely. Reasonably well stocked kitchen so can cook but also local pubs in the area as well. Very helpful with local walks and lots of maps and routes available - we walked to local brewery and also lavender tea rooms. Near to stow on the wold and other beautiful Cotswolds villages where we did some lovely walks and they where beautiful. Only thing I would point out is not a real log burning fire which was a shame as we where looking forward to this- it is a electric one. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Great little place - amazing hosts

    Paige2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Carrie's cottage is a really lovely place to stay in the Cotswolds. It has a lovely open plan kitchen/dining/seating area which is great for a family or group of friends to enjoy being together. The whole cottage is very tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable, and the local area has multiple lovely walks and good pubs. Our weekend felt like a real treat!!

    Alexandra2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this property! It's the perfect location for a cosy weekend in the countryside. We were a group of 5 girls and it was the perfect size for us. Tranquil environment, 20 minutes walk from the town centre. As Stroud is fairly hilly, this is mainly uphill, for those who are daunted by such a prospect. There are also lovely walks just across the way and further afield. Beautiful views. And the walk back into town is downhill all the way.. There are various good walks locally in the Cotswolds. Beautiful views of the local environment from the garden out front Non-smoking, Alcohol free. This is a real haven and retreat from a busy world
The environment is quiet and attractive. It is a small apartment, but spacious. It is particularly enjoyed by people who are looking for a retreat and some peace after a busy day. Breakfast is organic, special requests considered.
There is a wonderful view towards the cemetery and The Heavens, beautiful sunsets and lovely walks can be taken there. There are also a few gardens one can enjoy while here.
  • Very stylish and ecologically minded space. Great chat with the host if you want it and very wholesome breakfast :D Good distance from Stroud city centre, great exercise if walking!

    David2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Stylish and spotlessly clean home in a lovely situation. Sara Lea is a thoughtful hostess and respectful of her guests and their privacy. I would happily go again.

    Patricia2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The location was perfect as it was walking distance to nature walks and easily accessible by foot to town. It was so nice to have a break from the city and hear owls at night! The bed is quite hard which some people love, I slept well. Sara was calm and thoughtful and is a great host with a quick response on my last minute booking.

  • I had such a lovely time staying with Sara-Lea in Stroud! Her place on the hill is just brilliant for having a quiet night, stunning view but so close to the village center and going out for dinner. Breakfast was amazing, bread, cereals, fresh fruit, egg.. Best on my whole journey! Can only recommend for discovering Stroud and the Cotswolds!
