Beatiful 1 bedroom apartment with large ensuite bathroom (with triangular bath), kitchenette and living area overlooking the vibrant streets of Fez Medina. A wonderful lookout on to this ancient city with access to the wonderful panoramic terrace.
Experience life at the very heart of this vibrant city, the ancient medina (city) of Fez. Over 300 years old, the house was renovated in 2009, and now offers two special one bedroom apartments, each with private bathroom, kitchen, living area and double bedroom. It provides the perfect space to experience medina life, while providing a relaxing retreat to escape to after a day exploring the maze of streets. The incredible roof terrace offers 360 degree views over the medina, the ideal place to relax at sunset and listen to the call to prayer.
This apartment is on the first floor and has a unique calm atmosphere. With its high ceilings, tiled floors and many windows its provides a cool environment in the heat of summer but can be warm and cosy in winter. There is one bedroom (with double bed and desk), living room area with a small kitchen, complete with fridge, and small hob, ideal for preparing light meals. An additional feature is the large bathroom and tadelackt and tile bathtub.
Up a few flights of stairs up is the panoramic roof terrace, which is shared with the top flat, but you will often find you have it all to yourslef. There is a washing machine in the basement of the house.
Due to the many and narrow staircases in the house, it is not suitable for people with mobility impairments. Please note that as the apartment is on the second floor and has many windows, some street noise filters up. With no cars, this is sound of passing donkeys, children on their way to school, friends catching up outside. It will give you a secluded glimpse and opportunity to look down on and observe medina life. It usually quietens down early evening, although in the hot summer months when people make more of their life outside, it may go on a liitle longer.

We meet you on arrival and show you to the house, the area and local amenities. Come by for a mint tea with us in the hennah souk when you are tired of wandering the streets of the medina, we will tell you some of the ancient secrets which lie within it!
Lovely : small but near perfect like many good things. We were met and welcomed and a fire was provided for those cold nights in January. The location was wonderful and everything went well. Full marks - I enjoyed my time here.
The house location is perfect for those who want to feel the real experience of living in the center of the Medina. Everything was working beautifully, including Internet and the hot water. Michaela and Muhammad made me feel part of the universal family to which they both pertain: more welcoming is not possible. Maia´s house is, in a nutshell, a great example of why I love traveling with airbnb. So, after a whole month in this house, I can only recommend it.
Amazing. Mikhaila and Mohammed are two of the nicest people in the world. The view from the terrace is amazing , and the apartment is very spacious!
We had no issues meeting with Michaela for her to show us the apartment. We were disappointed upon arrival that the apartment was not the one listed on Airbnb. Michaela informed us that the previous guest decided to stay longer, so she put us somewhere else. The bathroom was outside of the apartment in the hallway. All in all, the apartment was fine, just not what we anticipated. Fes is a lovely city and we enjoyed our time there.
Micaela was so helpful! She met us at the gate and walked us to the flat, pointing out landmarks to help us out. She and her husband invited us for tea at the shop and shared stories and experiences with us. The flat is well located, closed to restaurants, groceries and vegetable markets. A roomy and unique place to stay and enjoy the medina at Fez! We hope to return!!
The apartment is beautifully decorated and perfectly located; it's easy to find because of its proximity to the Ruined Garden Cafe and is well stocked with everything a visitor may need (extra blankets, guide books, a wine opener, towels, hair drier). The view from the terrace is stunning. The only things to be aware of are: the bed is a bit uncomfortable and I do not imagine the couch (where I presume the third person would sleep) is any better; the hot water is not always working and when it is, doesn't last long; and the noise from the street is not for the faint-hearted. We loved the place notwithstanding these minor issues and would love to stay in Maia's apartment again (during our stay Maia was out of town but her friend Sue was very helpful and charming in Maia's place). One last thing -- there are two apartments. Ours had a bathroom inside. On the way up to the terrace, we saw a bathroom that may be the one that pertains to the second apartment. If that matters to you, make sure to ask which apartment you're getting and whether there bathroom is inside or outside, but I suspect the two are advertised separately with all this information explained.
