About this listing
Located in the paradise island of Gili Meno, maoMeno is a place for relaxation, Yoga, art and any Life affirming activities. Whether you want to rent a family house with kitchen, just a simple island hut, organize an event or join us for daily yoga classes, maoMeno provides all this.
This two-story house is over 70 years old. We rebuilt it in maoMeno adapting it to our vision. The master bedroom is located on the top floor. Whitewashed walls, smooth lines and natural light enhance the peaceful quality of this house. Its spacious veranda is perfect to enjoy magic sunsets over the green fields, practice yoga or hang upside down with our yoga swings.
On the ground floor we have included a multi purpose studio with space for sleeping two more guests. This creative space includes a unique solid wooden table.
Hot/cold fresh water (shipped from neighboring island of Lombok) is provided. Breakfast for two is also included.
Our guest services include a juice bar (raw food options and traditional indonesian dishes), daily yoga classes, holistic therapies (massage, cranio-sacral therapy, detox plans), internet access, bicycles, snorkeling equipment, local fishing boat for rent and more...
There are no special rules in maoMeno, other than a mutual respect for each other. This includes our beautiful, unspoiled surrounding nature.
This Place was absolutely horrific. It was a real disappointment. I have been traveling around Bali and it's Islands with my family and we don't usually travel to very luxurious hotels and did not expect something very outstanding on Gili Meno. MaoMeno was located in a nice place if you would like to take a break from the beach as it is not located directly, but the guest house was unacceptable dirty, unhygienic and disgusting. We had no proper water and had a cockroach in the little bed. Also we were told to have a great Breakfast in the morning, but also the service and the waiters in MaoMeno were bothered and annoyed to give us an outstanding breakfast and were not interested in taking in further orders for us and the other guests.
I also think that the quality of the guest house is not worth it's price, if it was a fair price I would absolutely understand the way of living in that place but it was not cheap for two nights. I as well would not recommend this dirty place to stay for a summer holiday because that was absolutely a money waste. Also, there was no service around us at the guest house, that would lead us to another place near the beach that is about 5-15 minutes away, depending where exactly you want to go and there was as well nothing to lead us the way, to let us know where it goes back. Also it was very dark in the little forest and thanks god we had our phones to help us with the lights.we as a family have not visited such a place and I would really appreciate it if there was made a few changes for a better place
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lot our stay in Mao Meno Resort. The resort is located in a beautiful countryside surrounded by palm trees and 5 min away from the beach. The houses are built individually and with much love. If you like to enjoy the sunset in a hammock on a wooden balcony, if you love yoga and cats, if you like peace and harmony and a tasty breakfast, that's the place to be:)
The house is nice. Unfortunately, it's dirty and badly maintained. E.g. the toilette surely has not been properly cleaned for a long time. When you see the site for the first time you will be shocked. It looks like a junk yard. It is so remotely located you have to walk through the small, dark, muddy path to any beach or restaurant. At night you need a torch. Luckily there are no dogs on this island. The breakfast is extremely lousy. And they asked for our two boys extra.
To summarize: I do not recommend this place. It's expensive as a hotel but offers not the equivalent.
We had an amazing time at Mao Meno Resort. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the quite surrounding! The beach and the restaurants are very close to that peaceful place (7 min. to walk) . The Mao Meno house was clean, beautifully designed, everything was well equipped! It is quite open, but very safe. We really enjoyed the breakfast (very delicios musli !) and the staff were so lovely and helpful. Especially Lucia is a warm-hearted host with an interesting personality, we'll never forget. Furthermore is there the possibility to do joga, because Lucia is also a professional joga-teacher and very dedicated to her job!
We stayed for 6 nights and wished we could stay longer! We highly recommend this place, wich is perfect for people who are open minded and love the nature.
Thank you very much and all the best , Lucia!
We had a hard time finding this place on foot (follow the white cocos) but apart from that we really loved it. The house is really open and airy and there is a fan for the evening. Breakfast is yummy and we love the secluded location. We did have a power cut due to a storm but not much that can be done about that. Oh and there are cats and cute kittens :)
AVOID THIS PLACE. This was our first truly negative airbnb experience. Please only stay at maomeno resort if you would like to experience the following: SHOWER - the water only lasted about 15 seconds before cutting out. After waiting for another 45 seconds there was another burst of water but it only lasted for about 10 seconds, then no more water. Ended up wiping the soap off with a sponge. Also, the open-roof shower concept is fine except that the neighbouring guests could see in the top of ours from the second story of their house. CATS - you will be sharing the resort with several cats who enter and leave your room/house as they please, and there is no way to shut them out. Not suitable for anyone allergic to cats, as my wife is. I also copped several flea bites as a result. WELCOME/ORIENTATION - there was none. Ten minutes after our arrival we finally found a staff member to help us, who simply walked us to our room and then quickly took off. Nothing was explained about the facilities, nor was there any obvious office where you could locate staff to ask questions, or guest manual. PRIVACY - the villas are located very close together and because they are so open you can readily see into your neighbours' houses. Not private at all. MOSQUITOES - our house was filled with mosquitoes upon arrival, including inside the already-lowered mosquito net on the bed. This might be less of a problem in the dry season? BREAKFAST - with the expensive price tag we were shocked to discover that breakfast cost extra. After reading previous reviews we asked to try the muesli but were told it was not available. So i asked for eggs with basil (one of the other four options on the limited menu) but was told that basil was not currently available. That's fine I said, I'll just have the eggs without basil. What I was served was 3 half-slices of toast with butter and honey (and no eggs in sight). PRICE - we could have lived with most of the above complaints if we had been paying about half of what this place was charging. But we were paying $140 a night, which is about the same as the nicest hotels on Gili Meno. Just without any of the benefits. FINAL WORD - I am not usually one to complain (you can check out my other airbnb reviews for confirmation of this) but this place really is a rip-off. We booked four nights but only ended up staying for one (with no refund) and booked a second hotel for the remaining nights - we just couldn't bear the thought of another night with the cats, mosquitoes and no showers. The only redeeming feature was the architecture of the villas - which looked great - but this was not nearly enough to offset its long list of flaws. Avoid at all costs.
Lovely house very spacious (however extremely overpriced especially when compared to other accomodation on the island) but the resort was not as described on the site at all. There was no smoothie bar (they simply said that they didn't do smoothies), there were no 'alternative therapies', Yoga was lovely but costs extra (even after paying $140 for a room), and despite asking several times we were not given new towels throughout our 4 day stay.
We also did not feel particularly welcomed by the staff, and were only given a brief rundown of the island by Kike. Thank goodness we brought our head torches, otherwise we could of got very lost on our way home through the cow paddock at night!
Overall, the place has a lot of potential but unfortunately is lacking in more ways than one.

About the Host, Kike
Hi, my name is Kike, I was born in Spain. Lived part of my childhood in Morrocco, which certainly inspired me to look further on through the different paths in Life.
My girlfriend and me are currently living in Gili Meno, a paradise island, just one and a half hours from Bali (Indonesia). We have built a spacious village resort, specialized in yoga retreats and other life-celebrating activities,.
Before starting to build this place (2 years ago) I had the opportunity to travel around this beautiful world. To name some, Santa Teresa (Brasil), Byron Bay (Australia), Essaouria (Morrocco), Raja Empat (Indonesia)....Gili Meno...great places!
