Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
A large spacious room with a comfortable Queen-size bed, walk-in closet, large mini-refrigerator, large windows on two walls looking south and west to the Hollywood Hills, and a large desk. Whole house, hi-tech WiFi for perfect connections all the time. DirecTV with over 800 channels. This was originally the master bedroom where the famous actress Ava Gardner lived with her even more famous big band leader and musician Artie Shaw in the mid-1940's. All bedrooms have locking doors with keys.

The space
THE LOCATION AND HOME
This beautiful, warm, large home is located in an exclusive and very safe area of Burbank known as the Rancho Equestrian. The area is dedicated to large lot and homeowners with horses. Our home was built in 1938 in the Art Moderne (Streamline) style, with curved walls, hardwood floors throughout, and horse trainer's quarters and four horse stalls on the back of the lot. The house was renovated in 2006 and the interior again in 2011 and the landscaping is under re-design now.

CELEBRITY RESIDENCE
Hollywood star Ava Gardner and her husband (#2), big band jazz musician Artie Shaw lived here in the mid-1940's.

GUEST ROOM
The guest room is a spacious 15' x 12' with windows on two sides. It includes a 6' x 6' walk-in closet. The room also includes a Queen bed, 32" TV, DirecTV with over 800 free channels, large desk, free internet connection, shelf space, larger mini-frig, and a private full bathroom.

HOUSE FEATURES
The house has a library with over 1,000 books for your enjoyment, a large, comfortable living room with wood burning fireplace. The beautiful dining room seats 12 and has wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows and French doors opening to the patio rose garden. We have a large, modern, eat-in kitchen. Central air conditioning and heating and whole house with a HEPA air filtration system.

COMPLIMENTARY SERVICES
A complimentary continental breakfast is included. Internet and DirecTV included. Upon request, free fax, paid copier, paid scanner, and paid minimum printing. Laundry facilities.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Outside, we're on a double sized lot where there are four gardens, of which two are secluded by high walls, with over 50 rose bushes, fruit trees (guava, apple, fig, cuties), red and white grape vines, and extensive various species of lavender.

EQUESTRIANS
We have a horse stable with three stalls and a turn-out for those who want to bring their horses for an additional stabling fee. The Los Angeles Equestrian Center, a premier horse facility, is 8 minutes walk from our house. At least 6 stables with rental horses and guides are within close walking distance with over 200 miles of horse trails virtually across the street from us.

PARKING
Plenty of off street parking for cars or even oversize rigs. Many visitors and local residents walk here.

We are only about 20 minutes drive from the Griffith Observatory overlooking Hollywood.

A free basketball court and tennis courts are only one block away and a public swimming pool is a five minute drive.

HIKERS
For backpackers, we are 4 hours drive from the High Sierras, and for local hiking we are only minutes away from three separate mountain ranges surrounding the San Fernando Valley with hundreds of miles of hiking trails.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Public transportation is just a 5 minute, 2 short block walk from the house.

Guest access
Guests have free access and are welcome to use the entire house including the kitchen, living room, library, guest patio, and formal dining room, except other bedrooms and the horse area.

Other things to note
We have one house cat named Max who actually enjoys having guests share "his space." Lots of on street parking is available in our very quiet, old tree-lined neighborhood. Horses get ridden and walked all the time on our streets so please drive considerately. They have the right of way here and do not know what crazy cars will do next.

Neighborhood highlights

Old, tall trees line all our streets where horses and their riders or handlers have the right of way; bicycle lanes and joggers are all around, even old carriages and carts pulled by ponies or horses pass right by our house. You can see horses training around the corner from our house, in the big open field we all call the Pollywog for some unknown reason. The Pollywog is also adjacent to the Disney Animation Studios where many of our guests walk to their work at Disney, even using the horse bridle path if they wish.

I am a horse lover and spend as much of my time with them as possible. We breed the rare Andalusian breed originally from Spain (the horse on which most "Knight" chess pieces are modeled. Our horses are movie stars, have been featured in books and magazines and are all around worldly and wise. I love to travel, been to various islands, Poland, Hungry, Austria and England. Can't wait to see more of our beautiful planet. I am a music buff and appreciate all genres of music. My husband and I are both passionate, fun-loving people. I'm Randy, the "horse-husband," skilled at mucking stalls and changing water buckets. In my spare time from that, I'm an attorney and a mortgage lending company owner. I'm also an owner of a fledgling film production company. Like Phyllis, I'm an avid reader, hence our large library, though my taste runs to classics and to baseball.
