The house is located in the Unesco Heritage neighborhood of Mangalem. It's the only house with a proper balcony in the neighborhood from which you have amazing views of Mt. Tomorr, the hills around, the river and a bit of Gorica. The house has 3 rooms, from which one is a bedroom, and two sitting areas. The bedroom is small and has 2 single beds. There is a sofa that turns into a double bed in the living room. The house was recently renovated with new ceilings, fresh paint, and new furniture. Please respect the furniture as they are brand new (sitting rooms furniture), the wooden floors, especially in the balcony as it's also brand new, and the neighborhood.
The kitchen has up to date appliances (fridge and stove). There is one bathroom attached to the balcony. The house has a lot of character and is perfect for couples or families who wish to spend a few days in Berat. The wireless internet has recently been updated and works inside and outside in the balcony.
I don't live in Albania, but my brother takes great care of the house as he lives nearby. Upon confirmation of reservation you will receive more information about Berat and what we have to offer during your stay.
The house is located up Mangalem hill. Due to it being part of Unesco Heritage, cars are not allowed inside the neighborhood. The walk up the house is a very good exercise :)
Other Things to Note
The bathroom is quite small. Due to limited space the shower has no curtain and gets the floor really wet. Please be careful. The tiles might get slippery. There is a flight of stairs to walk up when entering the main gate.
Please don't smoke inside the house. You can smoke outside in the balcony.
Most of the furniture is brand new, so please don't ruin it.
Please take your shoes off at the bottom of the stairs. The house has hardwood floors and rugs.
Please turn OFF the air conditioning and heaters when you leave the house and turn them back on when you come back. Appliances like that break down easily in Albania when left on for an extended period of time.
Last but not least, please understand that if the house is booked back to back, please adhere to the check in/check out policy.
We had excellent communication with Kristi and her brother, Dorian, who was most helpful in getting us settled.
Dorian was most gracious in taking us to the bus at 3:45 in the morning for a small fee.
The location was the best in Berat, right in the old town in a traditional home overlooking the whole city. The view was exceptional.
Our stay was during a very cold spell . We found the heating not quite up to our needs, especially at night, so we just wore extra clothing to keep warm.
Owner was living in other country. Therefore her brother was take care everything. However her brother’s cellphone number incorrect even cross checked with her again. They give me one more digit, it was crazy.
Google map can not exactly printpoint the location. So, we requested him to pick up finally. You had to walk 10-15 minutes from the main street.
We check-out in the morning 5:00a.m. Therefore, We requested him to pick up us to the bus station. He offer 300 Lek but we paid 400 Lek finally.
That day was raining and the bus station was near a gas station within 5 meters. But, he stop in front of the gas station 150 meters and asked us to walk to the bus station. I do not know why he can not stop at the bus station.
The original bus was gone. He unwilling to help us to check the bus schedule. As you know not everybody can speak English.
Wonderful place to stay! The flat was in a perfect location. Berat was an absolutely amazing city! The flat was equally impressive.
This is an amazing place to stay in Berat! The house is beautiful, with the most stunning terrace possible. The house is very large, with terrace and two living rooms. There are only two beds in one room, but there are many comfy couches if you want to spread out (we did!). We were hosted by Kristi's brother Dorian. Dorian was happy to provide us advice on Berat, and even offered to take us around for tours, he was extremely communicative and came to visit a couple times (but not intrusively). Not only is the house extremely nice, it is also excellent value for two or more people. The location is perfect, the house is actually inside of one of Berat's main attractions, and steps to everything else! Give yourself a treat, stay at the Museum house, sip coffee, and a glass of homemade wine on the terrace!
Amazing beautiful house with magnificent view. One of the best airbnb experiences so far.
The museum house in Berat was a perfect place to stay. The location is very good for seeing the old town including the castle, as well as heading downtown for walking the promenade and restaurants. We went to the Çoba winery for wine tasting and this was definitely a highlight. The transport was 1000lek with our host and wine tasting for €10 including cheese, olives and bread. The house has beautiful views and old features. There are sitting rooms and a terrace. It is definitely worth staying a bit longer if you have time. There is a full kitchen as well. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They met us at the bus stop and dropped us off the next morning very early which was very kind. There is wifi and an iPod dock also. We would stay there again if we return to Berat.
The house in Berat is just magnificent. It is exactly as described, and even better in real life than in the pictures. It is located right in the middle of the great Mangalemi neighborhood which is a must see in Albania anyway ;-)
Kristi, Dorian and their Dad, which we all met at some point of our stay were all very friendly and helpful, we coldn't have wished for better hosts. I would really recommend staying here if you ever get to Berat.
