Guest access
You will have access to our entire 70+ acre property! We invite you to explore and enjoy. Several creeks, the South Rockfish River, and Blue Toad Hard Cider are all within an easy walk. Nearby, the Rockfish Valley Loop Trail system and Wintergreen Resort offer miles and miles of well-maintained hiking trails. The drive beyond our farm is a private road used by other neighbors, so please do not go further up the hill beyond the farm entry sign.
We do have a herd of Scottish Highland cattle and several miniature donkeys, so please do not enter any pastures currently in use by animals.
Other things to note
NATURE: High View is a historic farm, so with that comes some proximity to nature. The home will be meticulously professionally cleaned before your arrival, but it's possible that you may be visited by insects or other small creatures.
Here in the mountains, we regularly see wild rabbits and deer outside, and you might also see snakes, coyotes, or even a black bear. (We still haven’t seen one, though!)
For those who love star-gazing, the farm is delightful—dark and quiet at night in the country, and the summertime fireflies are breathtaking! However, this also means that you might need a flashlight if arriving after dark, or to walk between the Main Farmhouse and Guest Cottage after the sun goes down.
ACCESSIBILITY: For those with mobility concerns, the farm might be challenging at times.
A short walk (~50 yards) on a brick pathway leads from the parking area to the Main Farmhouse. To enter and then access bedrooms, you must go down and then up a few stairs.
If you are staying in the Guest Cottage or using the hot tub, you also must be comfortable walking up and down a grassy hill.
