Blake's place was great! It was roomy and had a big kitchen/living room area. I was able to go see the terrace on a clear morning and it was beautiful! My cousin's and I had a great time at Blake's place. The free breakfast was a nice touch. I will say though that it's not completely free as tip is required by the restaurant but not included in the free breakfast. It wasn't a huge tip that was required but just be mindful about that when you visit. Also, parking was relatively close but no street parking. We parked at a parking lot instead of on the street. Apparently, people charge others to pay for what should be free street parking. This obviously is not Blake's fault but definitely something to know when you stay here! It's a great place and we will definitely stay here again.

DO NOT BOOK HERE during rainy season! Blake’s place itself is fine, but the mosquitos are unbearable. His house has an open courtyard that all the rooms are exposed to. When we arrived the first night after a long day of travel, Blake told me there were mosquitos but if I burned repellant coils in the courtyard, they would stay away. He advised against burning them inside the rooms for health purposes. He also pointed out candles and several cans of bug spray. We were so tired that we fell asleep, ignoring the mosquitos buzzing over our heads in bed. We had a full day of volunteering and language school the next day so it wasn’t until the second evening back at the house that I realized that the coils really did nothing and there were mosquitos in every room. We put on spray and thought this felt like camping more than staying in a home. In an effort to avoid mosquitos in bed, I even ignored the health concerns and burned a coil in the bedroom, to no avail. I spent a restless night swatting mosquitos away from my face. By morning, we had all had enough. The smell of the coils, candles and bug sprays were making us nauseous. Thoughts of the Zika virus and other mosquito borne illnesses lingered. I sent Blake a note at 8:55am letting him know the mosquitos were unbearable. I did not hear back from him until 7:35pm that night. In the meantime, I wasted a morning of our 6 day vacation finding another place to stay and packing and moving our things, then updated Blake that we had checked out. Given that Blake should not have rented out the house knowing there was a mosquito problem, I really think we should be refunded for the entire stay and the Airbnb fee. But to be fair, I only requested the remaining 5 nights and the fee. Blake responded that he was not willing to refund the fee because he thought we should have given him the opportunity to send a fumigator. Seriously?! Expose ourselves to more toxic fumes while wearing bug spray in a home? This is our vacation! The strange part is the nowhere else in Antigua have we had problems with mosquitos. Most of our activities and dining have been outside but it was only at Blake’s house that we were swatting them away. He mentioned something the first night about his neighbors being the source of the problem. We are Airbnb hosts ourselves and the thought of having our guests live through any sort of animal infestation is preposterous! We have also stayed at Airbnbs all around the world for years and this is the first unfavorable review I have ever written. Now I am going to have to waste more time elevating this through Airbnb’s resolution process. There are a lot of lovely places to stay in Antigua so unless mosquitos do not bother you, stay away from Blakes!

Really a good choice for Antigua. Pros: Location, location, location. Couldn't be better. Configuration is perfect for a family. Free breakfast at a wonderful restaurant across the street. Check-in (Blake's mom waited for us even though we were an hour later than anticipated due to our flight being late.) Cons: Limited closet space. No cleaning service for extended stays. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Antigua is a safe walking city which is divided in two groups basically: The locals and their daily lives mingle and tourism and the locals who work it. Blake's home is in the middle of it. Our stay was amazing and peaceful. We enjoyed the home, the terrace, the living room in particular and the decoration. We were able to walk everywhere from Blake's home. It was an amazing experience. Thanks.

Wonderful typical Colonial style house in Historic Antigua. We went for Semana Santa, Holy Week and had a fabulous time. The house is in the middle of all of the preparations and processions and really is in Antigua- not on the outskirts. We watched many processions from the rooftop terrace. Highly recommend!! The only drawback is the Hostel next door- while we were there they were noisy but that is not under the host's control and it was Holy Week so big crowds were in the city.
