Doran has a fantastic, cozy retreat in an A+ location. Perfect for a couple looking to decompress. His place is wells stocked with all of the amenities needed. Especially the kitchen and bathroom were extremely well stocked with the tools and staples needed to have a great stay. We brought with us a bunch of groceries and beverages in a few coolers and then distributed into the fridge once inside. The freezer has a few ice trays but we brought a bag of ice to make a few cold cocktails after the hike. The vibe is very cool and the style fits in with a JT experience. Rustic and vintage but somehow modern at the same time. I got nostalgic and listened to U2's The Joshua Tree (he has a large selection of CDs and a great stereo system) in the evening. The seclusion and hillside location is really relaxing and the outside lounges get perfect sunlight at the end of the day. Doran is super communicative and wants to make sure the stay goes very smooth - which it did. One note, Doran does have a small studio on the property as well. It is away from the main house's living and patio area and I am sure he would alert you if he or someone else was staying there, but if 100% privacy is a necessity, you should probably just check with him before booking. We met Doran as we were checking out from the property and he couldn't have been any kinder about making sure the stay went well. The national park is a few minutes drive from the property and you're also close to the restaurants and supplies in DT JT. Overall a very nice stay!

wonderful, cozy, peaceful home. enjoyed taking in the morning on the porch while sipping our coffee and tea-- watching the desert bunnies hangout in the yard, and listening to the birds sing. the mount of rocks on the property to climb was also very cool. we enjoyed mellow evenings-- dinners and Yahtzee action while listening to the warm stirrings of vintage vinyl. Although, I brought my own sage and palo santo to burn -- I was amazed to find a generous offering set out for use in the living room-- awesome! By night, the home stayed comfy and warm through the cold desert drops, and the chorus of hooting owls in the near distance was absolutely enchanting. Plenty of kitchen gadgets. Doran was very informative and checked-in just enough :) Proximity to the park was stellar, and saved us many extra minutes of wait-time in the loooooong line of cars waiting to enter over the 3-day holiday weekend. We had such a lovely stay, we honestly didn't want to leave.
