Priory Manor was a wonderful base to explore Cumbria from, especially without a car. It was easy to get to the property from Windermere station, picking up the keys on the way. And it's on major bus routes that take you into Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside & Grasmere, so easy to shop and get to great places to start walking the rugged landscape from. There are two supermarkets around 10-15 minutes walk away, which was perfect as I mostly self-catered.
Mick & Kelly were great hosts and easy to get in touch with. They made sure I had all the information I needed and a contact point for immediate needs during my stay.
The Manor is a truly stunning property with lots of character and tastefully decorated along with all the modern equipment you need to be comfortable. On the one very wet day I had, it was a pleasure to stay indoors and relax, whilst on the outdoorsy days it was delightful to come back to a luxurious place and make dinner. I can't recommend staying here enough... go on treat yourself!
We travelled with friends to the Lake District (group of six adults) and had an amazing time here. There is a beautiful walk down to Lake Windermere that starts very close by, and the turret room is absolutely wonderful in the evening to watch the sunset from. The whole house was incredibly decorated and we loved the gargoyles that gave it a real touch of charm. We couldn't believe we were able to stay somewhere so nice over a Bank Holiday weekend - most rentals in the area expect a full week's commitment so this was perfect for us, as we only wanted to stay for three nights.
Fantastic place an fantastic house! We found everything we need and we spend 3 unforgottabke days. All was perfect the only notice for the future clients is to ask to worm the house one day before the arrival.: we had to wait one day to obtain a good temperature inside. Good the assistence by the owner.
